Request WorldOfUnknown: Can I request a story where the Avengers meet the AOS team and see how badass Daisy is, and May and Coulson go all proud mama and papa bear.
I changed this slightly because I thought it'd make more sense and be a little easier to write. I hope you enjoy it anyway though! Thanks for reading :)
May had been going through her morning routine; Tai Chi with Daisy, a sparring session, a quick shower, and now drinking a cup of tea while Phil sat across from her, reading the comics in the newspaper and drinking his own cup of coffee. Daisy was in the kitchen munching on a pop-tart and bobbing her head to whatever pop song was softly playing on the radio.
May had always been the type of person to enjoy a morning to herself, but over the past year and a half, this became her favorite part of the day. For at least thirty minutes every morning, her, Phil, and Daisy had the kitchen all to themselves. Some mornings Phil would make them breakfast, and others they'd do their own thing, but no matter what they'd still be together. May would never admit it, but she deeply cherished this time with her two favorite people.
This morning though, something was off. It wasn't a threat, but she couldn't shake the feeling she was being watched. She began to pay closer attention to her surroundings, Phil would occasionally chuckle at something he read, and Daisy would sometimes sing along to a song she liked. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until a miniscule movement caught the corner of her eye. She smirked and gently set down her tea.
"So nice of you to stop by, Nat." Phil looked up with a knowing smile, while Daisy wore a look of confusion. Seconds later Natasha Romanoff stepped out of the shadows.
"Melinda May." She replied and the two women stared each other down. A few seconds later Nat's face lit up with a smile and she walked over to hug her friend. Daisy watched from the counter, frozen in shock.
"Phil! I'm glad Fury didn't let you die." She greeted with a quick hug and a teasing smirk.
"Of course you knew I was alive." He chuckled in response.
"How could I not? You know how many times you've been on the government's watch list?"
Daisy snorted at this.
"Ah, so you must be the famous kid of May and Phil."
"Oh, uh I'm not-"
"She's not ours biologically." May smirked and Coulson sent a wink towards Daisy, who blushed.
"I've heard a lot about you. People on the streets call you Quake."
"Daisy. Daisy Johnson. I hate the name Quake." Daisy said and rolled her eyes.
"Welcome to the world of being a superhero, where the public gives you the worst names. Well, unless you're Tony and you just give yourself a stupid name."
"This is so cool. You're the Black Widow."
"Thank you Daisy, I think she knows who she is." May quipped and Daisy rolled her eyes.
"So, you know May and Coulson?"
"Yup." Nat replied, popping the 'p', "Barton trained me and then May and I would do a bit of sparring. We all did a few missions together actually. That's how I found out about Phil's Captain America obsession."
"It is not an obsession." Phil protested, but the other three chose to ignore him.
"So, you're what, enhanced?"
Daisy looked to May as if to ask if it was safe to tell Black Widow, May nodded.
"Inhuman, actually. It's genetic."
"I've heard about what you can do, it's impressive."
"She's a hell of a fighter too. Trained her myself." May said. Daisy blushed, was May actually bragging to Black Widow, about me?
"She's the best hacker we've ever encountered." Phil said, pride evident in his voice. "You know she hacked the NSA and Shield several times?"
"She shot Ward too." May said, definitely bragging now.
"Four times." Coulson added.
"Wow… You two are real-life mama and papa bears." Natasha teased. "It looks good on you."
Now it was May and Coulson's turn to blush.
"You know Daisy," Natasha spoke again and turned to face the younger girl, "we could use your skills on the team. Stark would-"
"Not a chance." "Not happening." May and Phil said in unison. No way would they give up their best agent and pseudo-daughter. Nat put her hands up in surrender.
"Just a suggestion. But, if you ever get tired of their helicopter parenting, we'd be lucky to have you."
Daisy's mind was blown. She had been offered a spot on the Avengers, the Avengers. Although it was one of the coolest moments in her life, there was no way she could leave her team, her family. She looked at May and Coulson and pretended to think Natasha's offer over.
"Hmmm, I do appreciate the offer, but I'm good. I'd rather work in the shadows than out in the open… That and my family's here." She glanced at her pseudo-parents who wore looks of pride. The group continued to catch up while Daisy sat back and listened. Eventually they heard other agents up and about throughout the base.
"I should get going." Natasha said, "Phil, good to see you alive. Mel, good to see you in the field. You guys look good."
They returned her goodbye and Nat turned to Daisy one last time.
"Watch out for them, yeah? They're trouble makers those two." Daisy nodded and Nat leaned in to whisper to the young agent, "Make sure they loosen up a little. Barton and I have a bet going on how long it'll take before they get together."
"I can definitely help with that." Daisy laughed and they waved goodbye as the super-spy snuck out of the building.
