House of Fakers:
The club, except for Aaron, was terrified of the zombies. Aaron actually wanted to confront the zombies, but he was pulled by Amber. The club rushed out of the cellar.
Two of the three zombies removed their masks and it turned out to be Jerome and Otis. Otis grabbed his glasses from his pocket and put them on. Alfie was struggling to get his mask off. Jerome and Otis gave each other a high five and laughed out loud.
"That was hilarious," said Jerome
"Oh those faces, priceless," said Otis.
"Please tell us your camera recorded everything?" Asked Jerome.
Otis walked over to a table and grabbes his camera, which he had hidden well. Otis checked the footage.
"Is everything on it?" Asked Jerome.
"I've captured every moment," said Otis.
"Hey guys I can't get my mask off," said Alfie, who was still struggling to get his mask off
Jerome and Otis helped Alfie take off his mask. And eventually they got his mask off. Alfie put his mask down on an a table.
"Finally," said Alfie
"Hey, can we go it's kinda scary in here," said Otis
"Yes, I would rather not be here anymore," said Jerome.
The three boys left the cellar.
The next morning the residents were already having breakfast at the table. Expect for Mara was still in her room, getting ready for school. No one the club members slept really well because of the zombies. Jerome, Otis, and Alfie happily entered the living room.
"Good morning. Good morning. Good morning," said Alfie
"I trust everyone slept well last night?" Asked Otis.
"What's it to you?" asked Patricia.
"I just care. Sleep is an essential part of life," said Otis.
"So tell me, did anyone hear that Cat last night?" Asked Jerome. "It sounded like a combination of a very old goat and a screaming baby," he said.
"That wasn't a Cat. It was me. And you'd scream too if you got cornered three very scary looking zombies," said Amber.
"Amber!" Said Nina and Fabian in unison.
"Sorry," said Amber.
"And once again, we enter the strange and unpredictable world that is Amber's mind," said Jerome.
"But Jerome, you must have heard the rumors of what's buried down in the cellar," said Alfie
"Yes I have. The three teachers who were buried alive?" Said Jerome
"You can hear their stomachs rumbling and at night they come out and eat your brains!" Joked Otis.
" I think we found our zombies," said Fabian.
"You pigs! I've never been so scared in my whole life! Except that time when my dad froze my allowance," said Amber.
Jerome put the zombie mask in front and roared in Amber's face, trying to scare her.
"You think you're really funny don't you?" asked Patricia. "Well, you're not," she said.
"Lighten up. It was a joke," said Jerome.
"What were you doing down there anyway?" Asked Otis.
The club didn't answers Otis question.
"Oooh! Haven't they gone quiet all of a sudden?" Asked Jerome.
Mara entered the living room.
"Morning, Mick. And others," said Mara.
"Hi Mara," said Mick.
Mara just kept smiling at Mick during breakfast.
After breakfast Amber and Nina had already gone to school to show Mr. Winkler part of the script. Fabian, Aaron and Patricia walked to school with the three of them.
"I really thought they were Victor related zombies," said Patricia.
"Part of his, experiments or family members?" Said Aaron
"I never really thought they were zombies," said Fabian
"Yeah right. You were screaming louder than my sister," said Aaron.
"How come that you weren't afraid of the zombies Aaron?" Asked Patricia.
"If seen mine grandmother in a bikini once, that was way scarier than those zombies," said Aaron.
"Do you think Otis filmed it all?" Asked Fabian.
"This is Otis we're talking about, so yeah," said Patricia.
"And knowing him, he made a copy and possible multiple copies," said Aaron.
Aaron notices that his shoelace was loose, he told Fabian and Patricia that they would go ahead, while he would tie his shoelace. Fabian and Patricia did as Aaron said. Less than a minute later, Fabian and Patricia heard Aaron scream. Fabian and Patricia turned to see Aaron lying on the floor. A man on a scooter stopped . Aaron grabbed his leg and it looked like he was in a lot of pain. Fabian and Patricia rushed to Aaron.
"Aaron," said Fabian.
"Young man, I'm sorry. Are you okay?" Asked the man, who hit Aaron with his scooter.
"Of course not. You hit me with your scooter and my leg hurts so much," said Aaron.
"You were just walking there all of a sudden and I didn't see you in time," said the man.
"Seriously you're blaming Aaron. You were driving too fast. This a school and not a race track," said Patricia
"I'm really, really sorry. But I have to go now, I have a meeting with Mr. Sweet," said the man.
The man walked away from Aaron and entered the school.
"What a jerk," said Patricia.
"I'll call Trudy to ask if she takes you to the hospital," said Fabian.
While Fabian called Trudy. Mick was looking for Mara. Mick could't find Mara, but he saw Fiona and Caitlin sitting in the drama room.
"Hey girls have you seen Mara?" Asked Mick.
"No,' said Fiona
"Why are you looking for her?" Asked Caitlin
"I had some questions about my new training program," said Mick
"Is that the one thing you want to talk to her about?" Asked Caitlin.
"Why do you ask that?" Asked Mick.
"Come on, Mick, it is obvious. The girl worships the turf you walk on, but you pretend she barely exists," said Fiona
"Only when it comes to your sport scholarship, you notice her," said Caitlin.
"Listen, I care a lot about Mara and I don't want to give her the wrong idea. I mean it would never work out between us. So I shouldn't have kissed her yesterday," said Mick
"Listen Mick, I know you're a good person but what you're doing now that's not fair to Mara," said Fiona.
"So be honest with her. She deserves the truth," said Caitlin.
Caitlin and Fiona walked off to their next class. Mick thought hard about what Fiona and Caitlin had said. But what Mick didn't know was that Mara had heard the whole conversation and was very sad about this.
A few moments later Fabian and Patricia walked up to Nina and Amber who were watching at the lockers.
"Hey," said Fabian.
"Hey guys," said Nina.
"Where's Aaron? I thought he was with you guys" Asked Amber
" He was. But some jerk hit him with his scooter," said Patricia.
"What?!" Shouted Amber, who was worried about her brother.
"Yes, Aaron said that his leg hurt a lot and now Trudy has taken him to the hospital, to check his leg," said Fabian.
"I've to go to see if he is okay," said Amber.
"But we've class sonn , and we still discuss what to do with the elixir," said Fabian.
"You do that. Aaron is my brother, so he comes first for me now. He would do the same for me," said Amber.
Amber walked away and left the other behind.
"Let's wait until they're both back, we need to decide as a club what we're going to do with the elixir," said Nina.
"I agree," said Fabian.
"Yeah, that's fair," said Patricia.
"Okay look, I'm going to go see Sarah this evening. Maybe she'll be able to give us a lead?" Said Nina
"Ask her about Rufus. They obviously know each other if he was visiting her that time," said Patricia
"Yeah, maybe she knows why Victor's taken him," said Fabian.
Three hours later and Jerome, Otis and Alfie were putting up posters. Posters said there were auditions for the school play. It also said that the 7th graders needed to pay 10 ponds if the wanted to audition.
"Okay guys, this is a no brainer. The 7th graders are young, stupid and desperate for fame. But we are bright, but broke and desperate for cash," said Jerome.
"It says on here that Simon Cowell will be coming to watch the school play?" Said Otis.
"And your point is?" Asked Jerome.
"It's a lie," said Otis.
"Of course it's a lie, but it's their fault if they believe it," said Jerome.
"That's a good point," said Alfie.
"They brought it on themselves," said Jerome.
An hour later, Jerome, Otis and Alfie were in the drama room. Many candidates came for the audition. Jerome was mean to everyone, Alfie still liked some of the candidates and Otis had no opinion and was filming the auditions. Outside the drama room there was a longer line of 7th graders and at one point Mr. Winkler walked by and ask one of them what was going on. The 7th grader pointed to the poster and Mr. Winkler knew enough. Mr. Winkler walked into the drama room.
"Alfie, Otis, Jerome! I think you've some explaining to do," said Mr. Winkler.
"Alfie, I thought you said was his day off!" Said Jerome.
Mr. Winkler thought that the three boys should get a taste of their own medicine. The three boys had to perform a dance dressed as fairies. It was a disaster and the boys all got booed at by the 7th graders.
"Okay boys, that's more than enough," said Mr. Winkler.
"They are hopeless," said one of the 7th graders.
"No stage presence, no talent. Nothing," said another 7th grader.
"Well that's clear then. No roles for you in the play," said Mr. Winkler. "But what shall we do with them?" He asked.
"We could make them clean the stage afterwards," suggested one of the 7th graders.
"Couldn't we use them as scenery?" Suggested another 7th grader.
"Ha ha ha ha. That is a fine idea. You guys can be in the play as live props Plus you will repay every Penny you embezzled. With 50% interest. To be donated to a charity of these guys' choice," said Mr. Winkler.
"Oh no way! Not charity! What a waste," complained Jerome.
"I wouldn't complain if I were you. I can also go to Mr. Sweet and tell him everything. And then you are sure to be expelled from school," said Mr. Winkler.
"Please don't do that," begged Alfie.
"I'm very disappointed in you boys. I made sure you weren't expelled from school, because you let Mr. Sweet fell in your pit. And then you boys pull another stunt," said Mr. Winkler.
Mr. Winkler and the 7th graders left the drama room and the boys needed to clean up. Mr. Winkler also made Otis delete all the footage of the auditions.
After school, Nina went to visit Sarah. The two sat in Sarah's room, drinking a cup of tea.
"Sarah, did your mom and dad ever talk to you about an elixir. Not just any kind of elixir, like the kind you buy at a health food store or something. But the kind that gives you eternal life?" Asked Nina.
I don't want to live forever, said Sarah.
"Right," said Nina. "But do you know people who do?" She asked.
"I had a visitor the other day," said Sarah. "Now what was his name again?" She asked.
"Was his name Rufus?" Asked Nina.
"That's it. Rufus," said Sarah.
"How do you know Rufus, Sarah?" Asked Nina.
"We used to play together when we were small," said Sarah.
This totally confused Nina.
"I think you're getting confused. Rufus is much younger than you," said Nina.
"He was such a sweet boy," said Sarah.
"Do you recognize this man?" Asked Nina.
Nina showed Sarah the photo of Victor and Sarah was afraid.
"It's him. It's him. No, no, no, no, no, no! He means to do it, child. He wants to tip the scales of life!" Said Sarah, who was getting scared
"It's okay Sarah. Calm down. Okay I'm sorry. I'm sorry," said Nina
"He's the one. He killed them. Now he wants to stay forever. But you must stop him," said Sarah.
Then Sarah started to sing a nursery rhyme. In the end she sang about a 'black bird'. Nina found this a bit scary, because Sarah saw something about a black bird before. And what did Sarah mean by 'He wants to tip the scales of life'.
