Thanks again for your words and thoughts on this story. Now I bring you the continuation of last chapter. Enjoy!

After Jane left the precinct she headed towards the bay, just to try and gather her thoughts together of what she just heard and what she just did, she was unsure how she would even tell Maura. What news would she take worse, having her license suspended during the investigation or Jane protesting Maura's suspension by making herself suspended as well. She figured that it would be the latter, but Jane had a feeling that something fishy was going on with the whole investigation. Maura would not have shot to kill Gabriel on purpose, especially since the last time she thought she almost killed someone how freaked out she was. Jane remembered all those nightmares Maura had of Hoyt when she lost her anger against Frank. Maura wouldn't take this kind of news lightly, Maura built a reputation for herself and her career and Jane would be damned if even in death that Gabriel Dean would get away with this.

"Maybe I can fix this whole thing, I'm a Detective for crying out loud. He hated Maura and he will not have the last laugh," Jane shook her head, "Maura will not go down because of that asshole." She took out her phone and called Crowe.

"Rizzoli, what happened? You stormed out of his office so fast I couldn't even ask you for the details," Crowe answered, before letting her speak.

"They are going to suspend Maura's Medical Examiner's license, I can't let that happen. She worked hard to get the career and the respect over the years, I can't let the Feds get away with it."

"They are just doing their jobs Jane."

"Don't feed me that crap Crowe, they think Maura intentionally shot to kill Gabriel but you and me both know that no matter what Maura wouldn't intentionally take someone's life. You were right next to her when you both fired your weapons, did she look like she was aiming to kill?"

Crowe paused for a moment before sighing, "She hesitated Jane, she didn't want to pull the trigger, that's why I tried to make sure it looked like she wasn't even there. If anyone was aiming to kill it was me."

"And are you absolutely sure it was the bullet from Maura's gun that killed Dean?"

"I... that's just what they told me."

"Did you even ask for proof? Who did Agent Dean's autopsy?" Jane looked out onto the water.

He paused again, and sighed, "It was someone the Feds brought in, some specialist."

"So it wasn't even our ME that did the autopsy, something does smell fishy, just like I thought. We got to get proof that they messed with the evidence. The Feds are sneaky."

"And if they messed around then that means Maura is clear of killing Dean. How are we supposed to know if it was done or not? I will happily go down for killing that bastard, I need a much over do vacation anyways."

"I think I need to go back to the precinct and see if some of Maura's employees were around and will be able to give us some help."

"The lieutenant was upset that you gave him your badge."

"So then he'd be okay if I came back. I'll let you know what I find out," Jane responded before hanging up. Jane walked back to her car before driving back to work.

When Lieutenant wasn't there and Jane happened upon her badge which was lying on her desk. There was a note, I hope you can reconsider your decision to suspend yourself. I'm just doing what the Feds told me to do.

Jane sighed, attaching her badge back to her person before heading downstairs. The Feds still didn't seem to be around she found this all to be suspicious. When she went downstairs she tried searching for Criminalist Susie Chang. Jane found her in Maura's office trying to organize.

The woman stopped when she heard footsteps, she turned to Jane, "Oh good morning Jane, I didn't think you would be in today."

"Yeah, not a good morning so far. I have a question I need to ask. Were you here when they did the autopsy on Agent Gabriel Dean?"

"Yeah, I was around, but they didn't want me to do anything involving the case. They did happen to accidentally leave some paperwork around, they are kind of slobs, I heard about them wanting to suspend Maura's medical license," she looked sad at her words. "Maura did nothing wrong, actually, they were acting a little odd after the autopsy was over. I wasn't exactly sure what it was about until they left this just lying around," Susie handed Jane a Ziploc bag with a note slightly crumpled. "They definitely were being sneaky."

Jane observed the note and read it, before reading it again, "That son of a bitch."

Remember the plan, make sure Maura Isles gets blamed for it if I meet my demise. She's the one who started this mess, brainwashing Detective Rizzoli. Jane's one of the good ones. Give me my justice.

"He absolutely did lose his damned mind.. Did they happen to leave any video tapes lying around, anything else to prove that they are setting Maura up?"

Susie Chang thought for a moment, "Well there wasn't a video tape left, but they did leave something, let me go get it," she vanished and came back moments later with a folder. "Apparently there were four different bullets in Gabriel Dean's body, two from guns registered to you, one from Detective Crowe and well, the other one doesn't have a tag on it, but it doesn't match any of the other bullets striations."

"Which means that there was a fourth shooter," Jane looked at the evidence in front of her. "Someone else shot at Dean without us knowing. This is exactly what I'm looking for, now if only they would have left the tapes laying around somewhere."

"Maybe they wanted to get you to come to a dead end? Feds are smart yet have dangerous minds."

"You sure got that right, I'm going to show this evidence to the Lieutenant," she gathered the papers and shoved it into a file. "Thank you Susie, you were much help. I owe you one."

Susie smiled at Jane, "Happy to help, Maura means a lot to me and I will always have her back, same goes for having yours."

Jane smiled back at the woman before heading upstairs, she happened to run right into Lieutenant Anthony. "Rizzoli, I knew you would come back."

"Where are the Feds?" Jane asked and Anthony shrugged.

"They were here for a couple minutes and they left, who the hell knows where, but I'm glad that they are gone," Anthony looked around before focusing on Jane. "I wanted to apologize for earlier, for the news I brought up and that I wasn't very helpful. If I didn't follow orders I would be in more trouble than I already am."

"Yeah I understand, anyways Lieutenant I found something quite incriminating that I wanted to show you," she shuffled with the file folder in her hands. "Mind if we take it in your office?"

"Not at all," he led her to his office and closed the door. "What is this about Jane?"

"I have reason to believe that Maura is being framed for murdering Agent Dean," she pulled out the Ziploc bag with Gabriel's note. "This is what was found, and there was a fourth bullet different from the guns me and Crowe have. I have a feeling this was the bullet to kill Dean. And I wanted to know if I could see those tapes."

"They took the tapes with them, but luckily enough I was able to save it on one of our laptops. Feds will take what they want, surprised they didn't take this information about the bullets. And I also have some connections and was able to find Maura the best attorney, I did think it over and thought that I could be of assistance since you are going through a tough time, plus it was easy to do with the Feds not breathing down my neck. I'll be back," he gave her a nod and she stepped in front of him.

"I'll come with you, for certain precautions," she looked and him and he nodded.

"Of course, I understand," he led her to the computers and opened it, the one with the copied tape. Jane crossed her arms as he started the tape. "I also wanted to tell you that I called the prison and they did say that you returned Paddy Doyle to prison, so your story adds up."

At this point Jane wasn't really paying attention to the Lieutenant, just focusing on the tape. She watched at regular pace and she could tell that Maura tensed up before shooting, she seen a flash of something else. Jane slowed down the tape and what she noticed was right there on the video. "Right there," she pointed, "That bullet came from a little higher, you can see the glare on the gun in the corner as it shot. That bullet was obviously the path of the kill shot. I think we just proved that Maura didn't shoot to kill Agent Dean."

"Why would someone go through all this trouble of killing Agent Dean and making it seem like Maura shot and killed him?" Lieutenant Anthony asked.

"There could be a lot of reasons, but now we have proof. Looks like there were more dirty Agents here in play, we seem to have a case against them."

Maura and the twins were getting ready for the day, they were going to hang out at Angela's house so when it was time to go see Camille's lawyer it would be easier to leave the kids at Angela's. As she was heading over she gotten a text from Jane, it was short just saying that she was busy at work, but she didn't have to come in and they'd have to talk about something later.

Maura reminded Jane to not forget the meeting with the lawyer in the afternoon. Jane said she wouldn't miss anything that important.

Maura had to admit that she was worried about Jane, but guessed that if she was working hard that she was doing a little better. Work seemed to occupy Jane's mind and Maura was grateful for it. Maura and the kids made it to Angela's house, she greeted the twins with hugs.

"I made some cookies when I heard you two were coming over, fresh out of the oven. You might have to hurry though, Vince might eat them all," she smiled as they looked at each other before Todd grabbed Kate's hand and they went into the kitchen. Angela stood up and kiss Maura's cheek. "How have you been holding up?"

"I've been holding up fine, the twins don't want to talk much, but I guess that you can't blame them. I wouldn't know quite what to say at a time like this either. It does quite concern me though since we both know how Kate likes conversation," Maura sighed, taking a seat on the couch. "You know Jane and I weren't exactly ready to have to take care of kids right now. I just hope Camille knew what she was doing wanting us to take care of them if something happened to her."

"She loved the connection you and Jane had made with her kids, trust me she made the right decision I'm sure of it, but you aren't going to have to handle it all alone. Vince and I will help as much as we can," she reassured her and Maura nodded.

"And I don't think I'd be able to thank you enough for it especially since you'll have your own child to take care of. How does it feel, you know... the pregnancy, the feeling that you're going to be a mother again?"

Angela smiled at Maura's question, "It feels great, but scary at the same time. I know I've done it three times before, but this one is different, I'm not as young as I used to be and this pregnancy really has me worn out all of the time. Age definitely has a huge factor in pregnancy."

"I can tell, you definitely look exhausted, has everything else been going okay?"

"I've been having heartburn, but that's been normal for all of my kids. I can't stand for too much at a time, but sitting too long is uncomfortable as well."

"Do you think you'll make it full term? I think Jane's worried about that, something going wrong."

"She's always going to worry, isn't she? I swear Jane has no reason to, everything is going to be fine."

Maura smiled, "She's just protective of you, I think it's sweet how much she cares."

Angela got up from the couch, "I'm stronger than she gives me credit for sometimes. Maybe we should join the kids and Vince."

"Yeah good idea, I can't wait to try these cookies you made," she got up as well and walked with Angela to the kitchen.

Korsak was at the table telling the twins a story, "And well let's just say an old man like me couldn't be happier," he looked up and smiled at Angela.

"What have you been telling the kids?"

"Oh nothing..." he took a bite of the cookie.

"He told us about how he saved you from an evil plumber man," Todd spoke softly.

"I see, well did he mention how I didn't need to be rescued because I was pretty capable on my own."

Kate nodded, "He did, but said it couldn't be so bad to help out. He said you were pretty sad about it. But that you could overcome anything."

"Okay, well as long as I didn't come across as someone who needed help," she looked at Korsak who blushed.

"I was just giving them a pep talk that even though there is evil in the world there are people who will do anything to protect them," Korsak explained. "That there will be happiness somewhere along the line."

"Well I think that's a good thing to teach them Vincent," Maura smiled before eating a cookie. "These are pretty good Angela. As much as I'd love to stay and chat some more, I have a few things to do before going to meet the lawyer. Was there anything else you two ate that I should put on the list?" she asked the twins.

"No, just what we put that's usually all we eat," Kate shrugged and Maura kissed the top of her head.

"I'll pick you both up in a couple of hours, alright?"

"Yes ma'am," Todd and Kate nodded.

Maura gave the kids one last kiss on their heads before leaving to go to the store and a few other places before heading to the lawyer's office, hoping that Jane would be on time. Jane actually made it there before Maura, she got out of the car to greet her.

"Told you I'd make it on time," Jane smirked and Maura looked at her watch.

"Ten minutes early at that. Thought work would distract you. Anything exciting happen?"

"I um yeah, well I wouldn't call it exciting, but that will take more than ten minutes to explain," Jane linked her arm with Maura's. "So how were the twins this morning?"

"They were pretty quiet, Angela had cookies made when I dropped them off."

"She is going to spoil the hell out of those kids, especially with her always wanting grandkids and they are the closest Ma will get as grandkids. I guess I'd consider them more our niece and nephew, the last thing I want to do is have them feel like we are replacing their mother."

"She's never going to be replaced as their mother, but this will also help determine when we'd be ready for kids, don't you think?" Maura looked up at Jane who nodded.

"Yeah, I mean we already sort of had practice before Camille passed, but that's not the same thing anymore. Now they are going to be our full responsibility, can we handle that?" Jane pressed the button to the elevator as they went up to the third floor where Camille's lawyer was located.

"I think we can handle anything Jane, that's what you always say, right?"

She nodded, "Yeah, and whatever it takes."

"Yeah I like that one," Maura smiled, leaning against her wife just as the elevator opened and they got out and went to the receptionists desk. "We are Jane and Maura Rizzoli-Isles and we're here for a 12:00 with a Warren Gibbs."

The woman looked up and nodded, "Of course, he's with a client right now, but if you wait over there he'll be out in a minute or so," she pointed to a couple of chairs and they went to go sit down.

"I'll never stop liking us being referred to as Rizzoli-Isles," Jane smiled warmly at her. "It flows very nicely."

"Yeah it definitely does, I should probably change my name on my office door."

Jane nodded to her words, not wanting to tell her that there's a slight possibility that she won't be working for the medical examiner's office. At least not until this meeting with Camille's lawyer was over, they'd get lunch afterwards and discuss it then. "Yeah, I'll need a new desk placard, they already had to change it once since I became Sargeant Detective."

"You know I'm still so proud of you for getting that job," Maura squeezed Jane's hand.

"Yeah, I mean I did work pretty hard for it. It's all Korsak though, without him as my partner starting out I'd still be considered inadequate to Detective Crowe."

"At least you and Crowe seem to be getting along better."

"That is true, he hasn't been driving me insane lately, I just had to get him softened up."

"I think you both softened up quite a bit, but don't worry I still think you're a badass."

"Yep that's me, Sargeant Detective Badass," Jane grinned and Maura gave her head a shake.

"I'm not sure they'd approve you to put that on your desk," she teased, giving Jane a nudge before a man came out of the office.

He came over to them and introduced himself. "I'm Warren Gibbs, you must be Jane and Maura." They stood up and shook hands with the man. "I am sorry to hear about Camille, she was a great woman. We can discuss everything in my office." He led them to his office letting them enter first before closing the door and sitting at his desk. "Camille was very prepared for everything, hearing she died so soon after making arrangements kind of had me concerned. Sometimes things get eery like that, people make plans and then not so long afterwards... anyways the good thing is she was prepared," he pulled out her folder and handed them both a copy of her will. "The most important thing she wanted to make sure was that her kids were well off. As highlighted in the second paragraph it says that she has savings accounts for each of the kids, that will not be touched until they turn the age of 18. The money in her personal bank account is for funeral arrangements and anything else left over will be funds to keep for the purpose of her kids as they grow up."

Jane and Maura looked at the numbers on the will, "And that's the correct amount?" Jane asked.

Warren nodded, "She was quite wealthy for a woman her age, been working and saving her money since she was 17. As I tell my clients it does pay to save. The next paragraph talks about custody, in case of an emergency the twins will be put in your care, you will be their gaurdians, there are forms I'll have you fill out if you guys are willing to take custody, if not then they'll be put in foster care and there might be a chance the twins get split up."

Maura and Jane looked at each other before nodding at the lawyer. "We are going to be their guardians, the last thing we want is to put them in foster care," Maura spoke and he nodded.

"Well that's good then, she was hoping you'd say that. So when I let you both sign custody papers then someone will be over within the week of the papers being approved to, you know, make sure that your house is fit for children. Just for a precaution, sometimes kids are put into custody of houses that aren't exactly sanitary or safe for kids, so they just want to a sort of courtesy check, nothing too serious," he told them as he went to get the papers of custody.

Jane and Maura looked it over before signing the papers and handing him the proper identification to put on file.

"So, did you ladies have any questions?" he asked after he made copies of their paperwork.

"Not that I can think of," Jane looked to Maura, "You have anything to ask?"

"No, but if I come up with any questions, we can give you a call?"

Warren Gibbs nodded, "Of course," he handed her his card. "Hours I'm available are on there along with my email address and office phone number." He handed them some copies of paperwork before opening his office door. "You ladies enjoy the rest of your day, and again I am so sorry for your loss."

"Thanks, we appreciate it," Maura shook his hand, and Jane did the same before they left the building.

"Shit just got real," Jane sighed as Maura walked her to her vehicle.

"Yeah, it did, didn't it?" Maura held onto her papers. "We were going to get some lunch, right?"

Jane nodded, "Yes, but then I need to get back to work unfortunately."

"I was thinking I need to stop by my office and gather a few things, so I'll go with you. The kids will be good in Angela and Korsak's hands a couple more hours."

"I um ran into Susie when I was at work, she was organizing your office for you, I think the M.E. who took over for you left a mess, it seems to be in order now though," Jane told her.

"Then I'll thank her for it in person," Maura leaned up to kiss Jane. "The bistro closest to the precinct, right?"

"Yeah, I'll see you there," Jane kissed her back before getting in the car. "Drive safe."

"I always do," Maura smiled before walking to her car.

"Ugh, I'm going to hate to have to give her the bad news," Jane sighed to herself before driving to their agreed upon location from lunch.

When they got there they got a table, it was pretty empty which Jane didn't mind, she wasn't sure how Maura would react to the news, but it did have a bright side, sort of.

Jane ordered a sandwich and Maura got herself her usual salad and tea, "So, you were going to tell me what you did at work today? What did you and Lieutenant have to discuss?" Maura asked, sipping at her tea that just arrived.

Jane rubbed at the palm of her hands, "Well um, we of course had to talk about the consequences of what happened in the warehouse that night. Apparently Dean had some cameras set up so the Feds had visual proof about what happened. There was proof there was a third shooter, and it's very convincing evidence that you and Crowe weren't the ones who killed him."

"Well that's a relief, who was the third shooter?"

"We aren't completely sure, but I wouldn't say it's a relief," she tensed up. "The Feds said that you looked like you were going to shoot to kill and that you did with no hesitation, they actually don't know we seen the tape, it was saved to one of our computers without their knowledge. They also left some other evidence lying around that Susie had found, some pretty incriminating evidence. Me and Lieutenant spent the day making a case against the Feds, we had to discuss it with an attorney." She stopped once the waitress brought their food over, "Thanks," Jane looked down at her sandwich.

"So, we're all in the clear then? None of us will be in trouble for this."

Jane sighed, "Well no, not exactly... The video also showed Crowe cleaning the weapon you used to shoot Dean, he's suspended until further notice and then well, then that leaves you. This is the part I'm going to hate to tell you," she paused, "I was furious about it, gave up my badge until I cooled down because of what I was told."

Maura stopped eating her salad, "Jane, what happened?"

Jane reached over to take Maura's hands in hers, "There's no easy way to tell you, it was hard for me to hear. Since this is, well... since it's an active case of a crime they claimed you committed without hesitation and we won't have a court date for about a month," she stopped for a minute, clenching her jaw. "They're going to... to suspend your Medical Examiner's license during the case being open and there, well there's a possibility that in the end they might revoke your license altogether..." she felt Maura's pull her hands away. Jane hated seeing the look on Maura's face.

"I, I'm going to need a moment, excuse me," she got up from the table and went into the bathroom. She was shaking and she felt like the world would collapse beneath her, she gripped the sink and looked at herself in the mirror before she broke down in tears, trying to steady her breathing.

Maura didn't even notice Jane come into the bathroom until she was being held in her arms. Jane rubbed her back, "We're going to fix this Maura, I swear. We will not let them revoke your license. This is a fight that we'll do anything in our power to win," she kissed the top of her head, just holding Maura until she calmed her breathing. Jane pulled back slightly, wiping Maura's wet cheeks. "I swear to you Maura, you're in good hands, we have the best attorney there is. The Feds are playing dirty and I won't let them get away with it."

"You promise? Jane, I can't lose my license, my career means a lot to me."

Jane cupped her cheeks, "Yes I promise, I'll make sure you keep your well respected status. I got you babe," she pressed her lips softly against Maura's for a moment, running her fingers through her hair.

"I love you so much Jane, I swear sometimes I don't think I deserve you, or your love."

"You deserve that and so much more," she smiled, brushing a strand of hair from Maura's face. "And I plan to give you the world."

"You are my world Jane," Maura smiled, leaning against her hand. "And my world would mean nothing if I didn't have you in it," she pulled her into a hug. "I never want to think of a life without you in it."

"Well I made a promise to you and I intend to keep it," Jane grabbed Maura's hand. "We should get back to our lunch."

Maura looked at Jane like she was deep in thought a moment before she spoke, "Or we could cut it short, what time do you absolutely have to be back at work?" she asked with her warm hazel eyes and Jane knew exactly what the look on Maura's face meant.
