Chapter 32: The Unthinkable

"What happened?" Prim asked, staring at the blank television screen.

"They cut the feed." Peeta answered, quietly.

"Why?" Prim almost shouted.

Peeta had never seen Prim frustrated. He sympathized with her. It certainly took a lot to get her from zero to sixty. Her sister's life was on the line. He was frustrated for her!

"Prayer is banned in all the districts." Gale's father spoke up.

"What are they afraid of us seeing?" Prim demanded.

"Hope, little one," Gale's mom answered. "Hope spreads like the newness of spring. It causes people to question the order of their lives, or even the order of the government that governs them."

"Do you hear that?" Prim's mom climbed to her feet and went to the window.

"I hear it too," Prim said, joining her mother at the window. "Are they mourning for Katniss and Gale?"

"No," Peeta said, joining Prim and her mother. "They're praying Prim. They're all praying."

"Hope is greater than fear," Gale's mom said, as she and her husband joined the others. "Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are older, they will not depart from it."
