This a request from Guest I Guess
(I don't think Hephaestus is nasty, it's just third person deep from Aphrodite's perspective)
Also, this is just a drabble, sry it's not the usual length.
Sometimes (rarely) a happy (manipulative) couple
"Helloooooooo, my dear husband."
"Ex."
"But babe."
"You never called me that."
"Everyone cheats on each other among the gods."
"Doesn't justify it."
"Would you just look at me?"
"I'd rather not."
Aphrodite flipped her hair over her shoulder, pouting. Hephaestus still hadn't stopped hammering away at whatever grimy project he was working on. His whole workshop reeked of grease and smoke, and there was dirt everywhere. It took all of her immortal willpower not to gag. And worse, she'd dressed to the occasion. Sure, the overalls were styled to be cute and all, but denim. She shuddered at the thought that it was touching her body at all. Still, she wasn't just going to stand by what they had said.
"And why is that?"
"This is more important to me than you are."
She wrinkled her nose, but kept going.
"You would choose machinery over the goddess of beauty? Of love? Of desire? Surely I'm more appealing than bits of metal."
When he didn't look up, she steeled her nerves before placing a hand over his. Despite his earlier protests that it was more important than she was, she stopped. Her other hand went to his chin to turn his face towards her. She had to touch the nasty beard, and worse, she had to look at his face.
"The goddess who was once your wife?"
He tried to turn his head away, but despite how gross it was, she kept it turned toward her.
"You have more of a claim to me than anyone else."
"Besides Ares."
"Forget about Ares." she said, infusing her words with charmspeak. "Just think about me."
That was technically pushing the boundaries of the dare, but they had just said she wasn't allowed to use love magic, not that she couldn't use charmspeak altogether.
"What were we talking about?"
She smiled because he had fallen for it, not because she was happy to be with him. "How much you like me." Before she could lose her nerve, she kissed him. She could tell he was surprised and the whole time all she could think was Agh. Gross. Why am I doing this? So gross.
But whatever the case, the moment the five seconds were up, she pulled away.
"Did you want to take this to a more private place?"
No, no, no! She did not want to take this somewhere private. She had won. She had completed the bet, the dare, whatever, this was not how this was supposed to end. She managed a seductive smile.
"Maybe another time. I'll be around."
"No, no, you'll love this."
Before she could protest, he had her arm and was steering her towards the door.
The moment she stepped out, something dumped onto her. It was green and slimy.
Behind her, Hephaestus bellowed with laughter. "Now this. This is something I like to see. And you thought you were really being distracting." He turned around, all interest in her completely gone, as she stood flabbergasted in a pile of slime, trying to comprehend what had happened. "Poseidon, pay up, I won!"
Artemis and Athena popped up next to her. "Up for another bet Aphrodite?" Artemis asked.
"Yes. I bet you can figure out why we dared you to do this now." Athena said.
"There's no way." she spluttered. "You were in league with-" she retched, "-him?"
"See, you are a smart one!" Athena teased. "We don't give you enough credit, Aphrodite. And people say you're gullible."
She narrowed her eyes. Yeah. She was a smart one. And she had all the weapons she needed. She scooped up the slime from her body and threw it at the goddesses in front of her. The look of shock on Artemis's face as green slime dripped down it was enough to make the whole thing worth it. Almost.

Shoooooout-ouuuuuuuts!
Fairyn - I think you reviewed just as I posted last chapter, so that's kinda fun. That's true. And Alex is such a fun character to read, but it's difficult to recapture the way that Uncle Rick wrote him/her.
LilBumkin - Writing their dynamics was a treat too. That's so sweet of you to say. It really, really means the world to me to think that I have any sort of impact on anyone through my writing. Thank you for coming back every day! :)
Guest I Guess - It's like in Titan's Curse when Zoe is like, "If they don't have someone to keep pushing them, they're literally not going to get anything done" Multiply that by three, and all of a sudden you have chaos. And then that sort of energy from Odin came straight out of the ending of the sword of summer. (I haven't ever watched Doctor Who though)
(oh, and also Wildcat stuck as a human, I went back and fixed those mistakes finally)
Have a lovely day!
