This one-shot focuses more on why Xavier is a special agent [he can transform into a minotaur, similar to Benjamin Daimio].
In Control
"Let's try this again," Abe Sapien said. "Remember to breathe, focus on who you are, and stay calm."
Xavier gave him a small nod, trying not to show how nervous he was. "Okay," he said, taking a deep breath before allowing the transformation to begin.
Hair covered his whole body, and his clothes started to stretch as he grew, his limbs reshaping and doubling in size. The teen fell to his knees, trying to ignore the pain as he focused on his breathing like the Professor had suggested. The worst part each time was the head; his bones groaned and snapped as they shifted and reshaped, his teeth sharpening as two horns poked out of his head. Hellboy, Abe, Liz and Professor Broom stood nearby, staring at the teen as he continued to transform, ready to step in and help in case he lost control or accidentally hurt himself. They had been spending the past few months trying to help Xavier control his transformations, as well as keep his state of mind once he became a monster.
Nearly thirty seconds later, an eight foot minotaur stood in the teen's place, wearing the same pants and long sleeved B.P.R.D. shirt, which had been designed to stretch out with him when he grew. Xavier slowly stood up, now standing on hooved feet, his breathing deep as he looked around with confusion.
"Xavier," the Professor called up to him. "Are you okay?"
The minotaur looked at them, silent for a few moments. "I… I'm fine," he eventually said, his voice deeper and more gravely than his normal voice. "Head hurts…"
"The pain should pass," Abe said, walking forward. "And you're getting better; it didn't take as long for you to transform this time, and you managed not to destroy anything." The minotaur frowned at that.
"Real smooth, Abe," Liz said.
"Can I destroy something," Xavier asked. "I really wanna break some stuff."
"Try not to think about that," Broom told him. "That destructive behavior is the minotaur talking. Remember, you're Xavier Washington, and you don't want to destroy anything or hurt anyone. Right?"
"Yeah," the minotaur replied after some hesitation, looking around the training room. "Everything looks different… Hellboy's not red anymore."
"Cows can't see the color red," Abe said, writing down something on a clipboard.
Xavier glared at him, snorting angrily. "You calling me a COW," he yelled, his voice echoing through the room. He cracked his knuckles. "You better get out of here while you still can, fish boy, 'cause I'm about to break every bone in your damn body!"
"Hey! Xavier," Hellboy yelled, stepping forward and catching the monster's attention. "We talked about this; ya can't threaten or attack us, buddy. We know ya don't wanna hurt us."
"I wanna hurt him," the minotaur teen said, pointing at Abe. "He called me a cow!"
"No, he just said that cows can't see the color red."
"And neither can I!" Xavier growled at Abe, who returned it with a calm expression. "Can I just knock him through a wall?"
"No," the half-demon said sternly. "Remember what happened last time ya tried to attack us?"
The minotaur frowned, trying to remember. "You...You tackled me to the ground and kicked the crap outta me?"
"Exactly. And ya didn't like that, did ya?"
"... No. You gotta mean right hook."
"I know, so why don't we all calm down, stop the death threats, and no one gets hurt." He held up his hands. "Though if ya wanna spar, I'd be happy to do so under controlled condit-"
Xavier grabbed him before he could finish his sentence, chucking him across the room and into the wall. Hellboy hit the wall hard, falling to the ground as the minotaur gave a triumphant roar. It hurt, but it would take more than that to take him out. This was how most of their sessions ended; Xavier challenging Hellboy to a fight and eventually loosing, turning back into a human when he was tired out.
"I take it you've got it from here, Hellboy," Professor Broom asked, heading towards the door with Abe and Liz.
"Yeah, Dad." He climbed to his feet, facing his best friend minotaur. "Okay, Minnie. Let's dance!"
Xavier, enraged at the pet name, ran forward with a roar and raised fists, ready to take on the half-demon.
