Let's power through these next few chapters, I'll admit this sequence of events was not originally on my list but here we are.
I am going to adopt a new writing style in this chapter, I will then be applying this to all chapters. Proof reading and spacing out the walls of texts will also be done. Let me know if you prefer this style to the previous one.
I have also swapped Judgement's and Justice's human names so sorry for any confusion.
Chapter 37: Donuts vs Pancakes
"I wanna see a damn lawyer" the Helltaker spat at the detective, the two had been bashing heads for the last hour, ever since they had arrived at the precinct. Currently, he was being held in a typical interrogation room; two chairs, one table, a one way mirror, one door, no windows...terrible lighting.
He didn't know where Malina was... and that terrified him.
"You'll get a lawyer when I say so!" the detective slammed her fist on the table, she was holding a file within it, the action did not startle the Helltaker, it usually worked with other people. It's not like the man could move anyway, they had him handcuffed to the table.
As if he was the real danger, they had a literal demon in their precinct...somewhere.
"You've crumpled the file" the Helltaker looked at the white envelope, trying his best to change the topic.
"Where were you on the evening of last Monday?!" the detective was fuming with anger, still maintaining a vice grip on the thick white file.
She was leaning on the table, palms facing downwards, legs slightly apart, head tilted down to look at him, her arms slightly bent. Those dark charcoal eyes were glaring into his soul, she knew he was hiding something ever since she got that first call about the triplets, two years ago.
Today she would find out what it was.
"Where is Malina?" he asked, knowing already he would not receive a proper reply.
"You don't get to ask the questions here" she snarled, the lightbulb above the two was projecting a fluorescent white light across the black room, reflecting off the two pairs of eyes. "Now, I'm going to ask again...where were you on that Monday?!", the detective saw red, she was about to lash out.
She wanted to squeeze the secrets out of him.
The man simply leant forward to speak into her face, "I want...to see my lawyer" he said softly yet the words carried a threatening tone. "You've already stormed into my home, searched it without a warrant, beaten a man who was no longer resisting, can I count that as police brutality?" he paused, seeing the detective begin to shrink.
"Now you are denying me a lawyer, denying me my rights? We have got quite a list of illegal offences here detective" he leant back in his chair, knowing he had won this battle.
"Aren't you supposed to enforce the law?" he let loose a smirk. The woman turned around, her back to the Helltaker, she pinched her brow, closing her eyes. The man was relishing in this victory, he and Malina were practically invulnerable at the moment...until proven otherwise.
However, he had underestimated the detective; she turned around with lightning speed and slammed her fist hard onto the table again, clenching her teeth like a rabid animal, the man was actually startled this time.
"I've been investigating your ass for the last two years...you have been a real thorn in my backside and I will make you confess to this and to whatever else you may be hiding".
The look in her eye...it was a fiery passion to uncover the truth.
"One way or another".
To this intimidating display, the Helltaker simply scoffed in a short exhale of air, again damaging the detective's confidence as well as her fighting spirit.
"Threaten me with violence all you want detective, I thought you read my service record?" again he leaned in closer, uncomfortably close to the detective's angry face. "I've had my teeth pulled out, my knee caps broken, the amount of blood I've lost..." the Helltaker moved an inch closer, "You can't touch me" he whispered.
It was the detective's turn to underestimate her opponent, she took a step back and stood up straight, her glare still meeting the Helltaker's.
He was going be one tough nut to crack.
She saw the eyes of the man look over to the door behind her, the Helltaker seeing through the stained glass window at the approaching figures.
Oh boy.
The door to the interrogation room flung open, three people now entered.
"Sasha what the hell do you think you're doing?!" the Captain of the precinct stormed in followed by the Helltaker's lawyer and a familiar red head.
"Hey Amy" the Helltaker said quickly before an argument between the two in front of him exploded, he received a quick nod.
"Captain, I hav-".
"NO! You are going to listen to me!" his old Captain shouted at the detective.
Sasha was about to protest but decided to bite her tongue, it was better to remain silent for now.
"First you storm into a property and begin searching it without anything in writing from a superior, second you arrested the suspects in a violent and unjustified manner, what did you think they were going to do? Dive out the window and run? He may have been a person of interest but not a wanted criminal dammit!".
The man paused to breathe and collected himself.
"Thirdly, Sam in there-" the man pointed to the one-way mirror, "told me that you just denied him his rights and then threatened him with violence?" the man gave a quick glance to the Helltaker. "This in unacceptable detective, I expected better of you", again the man paused, his eyes going between the detective and the Helltaker.
He sighed and took a step closer to his detective. "I know you've been working this case along time Sasha, but-".
"With all due respect Captain-" the detective interrupted.
"Excuse me, but I believe me and my client are allowed a few minutes of privacy while I give him the required legal advice" his lawyer interrupting the detective.
After a few seconds of silence, Dean finally spoke; "Yes, let's take this into the other room" the Captain ushering both his detective and Lieutenant out the door.
"Captain" the Helltaker nodded at Dean.
"Sergeant Major" the Captain of the precinct spoke through gritted teeth, not looking at him. Both of the men addressing each other by their former army titles.
The Helltaker watched them leave, realising he was now left alone in this room with this...small, skinny man. The lawyer moving the chair to sit opposite the Helltaker. It also occurred to him that this welp of a man now held his and Malina's fate in his...tiny hands.
Stop insulting him, he is on our side...
Sure he is...
"Dan Houston, I'll be your lawyer. Let's see how we can get you out of this ey?" the man held out his tiny, pale white hand.
What kind of lawyer had he gotten?
"Jason Williams I guess, appreciate you coming down here on a Sunday" he reached out and shook the man's hand.
"Of course, shall we get started? the blond haired man smiled.
This was going to be a long day.
"Sure, not doing anything else today" he joked, realising a second later what he should have said.
"Wait, sorry just before we start, do you know where Ma-" he stopped and reorganised his words, "Where my step-daughter is?".
The lawyer was slightly confused for a moment, but then chuckled nervously. "Oh yes, the white haired girl. She is in the other room if I'm not mistaken, receiving the same punishment as you" he joked. "I'll be seeing her after you".
"Okay, at least she is alright. She gets scared easily, especially in places where there are no familiar faces" the man didn't know why he was telling his lawyer this.
"Don't we all, ready?" the man not really listening to the Helltaker, he retrieved a stash of papers from his briefcase.
Oh god help me.
The Helltaker sighed heavily. "Yeah go for it".
"Hey, sorry about that-".
Malina looked up as the same ginger woman entered the room again. "Is he okay?!" the demon knowing she had gone to see him.
"Yes he is fine, just as pissed as you are" Amy gently withdrew the seat opposite Malina and sat on it. "I can see where you get it from" the Lieutenant tried her best at making a joke.
Silence.
The demon now had her head in her hands, not wishing to make eye contact with the woman. "I already told you I didn't do anything" the demon snapped, the silence being even worse than the woman's jokes.
"I haven't asked anything yet, we will begin questioning once they're done with him" the Lieutenant looked at the one way mirror.
She gestured with her head for whoever was behind it to leave, the officer in question obeying. Now it was just the two of them.
"I thought we could talk before you're questioned...just the two of us" the ginger woman was trying her best to form a rapport with the demon. However, their entire conversation was being recorded, anything they would say could be used against them.
Malina looked up, her sour scowl present, blue instead of red eyes were glaring from under her white hair.
Another part of a demon's disguise was to change their eye colour, red being too suspicious when in amoungst the humans, Malina's now being a light and pale blue.
However, the demon's white hair remained, a part that humans were meticulous to ask about. Most of them using the excuse that it was their natural hair colour or that they had dyed it.
"I know who you are" Malina spoke eventually after a prolonged silence, "He has got a picture of you in his bedroom when you two were younger".
This took Amy back, she didn't think he had any of those photos, most of them were either lost to time or forgotten completely. She certainly didn't have mementos like that anymore.
"Then you'll know that he is a dear friend of mine, I want what's best for you...for the both of you" Amy spoke honestly. "You'll know that you can trust me".
The Lieutenant now leant forward, resting her elbows on the table, her hands interlocked. Malina was staring through the table, her mind having numerous thoughts bouncing around it. Some of them normal...some of them insane.
She could kill this woman and not care in the slightest, she could kill every single person in this place and not feel a thing. However, she wasn't listening to these thoughts, she had to endure this. For him.
"How are you related to him?" the interrogator's voice broke Malina's staring contest with the table.
"We aren't related" she was struggling to remember the fake story they had rehearsed two years ago, for situations like this. She felt physically sick saying the next few words.
"He is my step-dad, my mother is-" the demon did not wish to say the rest.
"Ah, gotcha" Amy knew when not to pry, already she was loading another question. "When did you begin living together?", the woman maintaining a calm and neutral tone.
"About three years ago, one day he appeared and- well the rest is history" the demon answering truthfully this time.
"I know that you have a sister, as well as the triplets, bu-".
"We aren't related to those mutts".
Amy raised an eyebrow at this but dismissed it straight away. "So who else is in the household? I remember seeing other white haired women there too" the Lieutenant got straight to the point.
Oh god.
Malina slightly panicked now, the lies she was struggling to remember were now evading her.
"Are they related to you or your mother?" she asked again.
Oh god, think!
"Who do you want to know about?" Malina remained calm and retaliated with her own question to stall for time.
"Well, how many of you are there in that house?" Amy let loose a laugh and a small smile.
"Twelve" Malina muttered.
"Twelve?!" the ginger Lieutenant couldn't believe her ears. Way to go dude she thought, the image of the Helltaker dealing with twelve women every day making her smile again.
"Can you give me their names?" she asked Malina.
"All of them?" the demon was nervous to answer this new question.
"All of them" Amy repeated.
"There is me, my sister Zofia, Lucy, Justine...Judie, Anna...Monica, Maria, Lila, Ella and Mila...oh and-" Shit what was Beelzebub's fake fucking name! "Oh and Beatrice" she finished. It took every brain cell in her sour mind to conjure everyone's fake name.
"Thank you Malina" Amy smiled at the demon, they were finally getting somewhere.
"They aren't related to us...they are uhm-" how could she phrase this? "Distant family?" her confusion was obvious, Amy could see that Malina didn't know how she was related to these other women.
From what little she had seen of the demonic family, none of them seemed related.
"Wher-" Amy began but the skinny lawyer had entered their room, a concerned look on his face. He was followed by a furious detective, it was now Malina's turn to be questioned.
"Well, that was pointless" Sasha scoffed, her malicious gaze turning to Malina. "Maybe we will get more out of this one", she received an hateful glare from the demon.
"I think me and my clie-" the lawyer began.
"Shut the fuck up" the detective cut off the man, coming to stand on the side Amy was sat on.
"What do you think your doing?" Amy stood and faced Sasha, she could see the rage continuing to build in her colleague.
"I showed him the camera footage and the photos forensics took, fucker's face went pale. If that's not a sign of being guilty I don't know what is" the detective placed a black laptop she was carrying on the table in front of Malina.
"Excuse me, this is illegal. My client needs the relevant lega-" the lawyer stopped speaking as he received an icy glare from the detective.
"We are dealing with murderers here. Do I need to say anything else? Are you done squeaking?" she was so angry that she was actually spitting at the lawyer as she spoke. She did not receive a reply.
"Hang on a second, I'm doing the questioning in here" Amy protested, she stood up and gestured to the door, "Go and see what else he knows, see if he confesses to anything else".
"Self defence" the detective said simply, clicking the touchpad on the laptop.
"That checks out, we did find a knife and two firearms on the scene. That all he-"
"That's all he said! He claimed to have brutally murdered those three in the name of self defence". The detective then pointed at Malina, while still glaring at Amy, "Defending this little bitch".
"Steady on, we don't know what happened yet, how could he inflict such injuries? Besides anyone being attacked has the right to defend themselves, especially when weapons such as these were involved".
"Oh shut the fuck up Lieutenant, how did they caus-"
The two of them stopped talking as they heard a loud, high pitched scratching sound, like multiple knives being dragged along a metal surface. All three of them turned and saw Malina scratching against the metal table. Her black finger nails had turned into long sharp claws, making deep incisions against the table.
"What the-" Amy stared in bewilderment while Sasha remained quiet, an evil smile growing across her face. The lawyer was actually quite scared, the small man moving to stand behind the two officers.
The demon saw red, she wanted to kill all three of them, she couldn't contain her anger, her disguise was slowly falling apart.
"I think we found our murder weapon" the detective smiled, turning to the Lieutenant.
"I'm handling this interrogation" Amy resumed her argument, the sounds of the scratching continued.
"Like hell you are!" Sasha stepped forward, encroaching on Amy's person space.
"Get out of my face Sasha" she snarled.
"Back down Lieutenant, I'm in charge of this investigation".
"I don't work under you anymore" the ginger woman glared.
"I outrank you, stand...down...Lieutenant"
The detective claimed the victory of this argument and turned to face Malina. "I want you to watch this video" she said sternly "There will be a slideshow of photos afterwards". She moved the laptop so the demon could see.
"Go fuck yourself" Malina spat, her claws were now slowly transforming back into normal human nails.
"A fighter...good I prefer a challenge", she hit the spacebar on the laptop, starting the video.
Malina glared at the screen as the video started playing, it looked like a camera on the side of a building, it was pointing at the parking lot the Helltaker had parked his car in when him and Malina had gone on their date.
Three dark figures could be seen wearing black coats, their faces concealed by the hoods they were wearing. The three were moving through the cars and glancing into some of them. Eventually they disappeared out of the frame, Malina guessed this was before the rainstorm hit.
"Those were the fuckers that mugged us" Malina simply said pointing as the three walked out of frame of the camera.
"Keep watching" the detective scowled.
"Did you not hear me you dumb bitch? They mugged us!" the demon nearly shouted.
"I said...keep...watching".
Malina begrudgingly obeyed, she watched as the video changed perspective, it was a different camera, one that could see through the dark of the storm, using night vision.
The camera watched as Malina and the Helltaker walked quickly through the rain, hand in hand, leaving the arcade, eventually they walked out of frame. The video then rapidly changed angles, projected from different cameras, following them all the way throughout the town until they turned off into the alleyway.
She kept watching, the video changing to the perspective it had started with; looking over the parking lot.
Time sped up, the camera was also able to see through the torrential rain cascading down, obscuring the overall field of view. However, when it slowed down to normal time she could see herself running to the giant black Mercedes and starting the engine
Malina then watched as she sprinted off frame, splashing through the puddles, returning around twenty seconds later, supporting an unconscious Helltaker on her shoulder.
The demon felt quite fragile rewatching these events from a different perspective, it was so fucking close...I could have lost him. She watched herself stuff the man in the car, getting into the driver seat and slowly driving away out of frame.
The detective hit the spacebar again, pausing the video.
"Care to explain?" the detective now sat in Amy's chair, the Lieutenant not leaving the room, allowing Sasha to have her way...for now.
"Those fuckers mugged us, he got stabbed, he didn't show you his stitches?" Malina tried to avoid eye contact.
"No, funnily enough he did not".
"Well, he lost a lot of blood. I took the initiative and decided to drive us home" the demon spoke truthfully.
"You know it's illegal to drive without a license?"
"It was an emergency!" the demon protested.
"Why not call an ambulance?" Sasha retaliated.
"He told me not to, doesn't trust them and they cost too much apparently". The detective was making notes as Malina spoke, she was surprised at how cooperative she was being, probably wasn't as smart as her step dad.
"So how do you explain these-" the detective closed the video player and a slideshow of images began playing, a gory display of Malina's rage. There was a range of photos showing the mangled corpses of the three muggers.
One body was missing it's head, it being tossed aside when she had attacked. Another was cleaved in two, their entrails exposed, the rain had mixed with the blood and stained the surrounding area a strange red mahogany colour.
The final one was surprisingly intact but a considerable distance away from the other two bodies, his contorted face, the mouth open, screaming into oblivion.
However, each photo had one similarity between them all; each mugger had the inside of their throats on display, Malina had delivered devastating blows, showing no mercy.
On top of this, every single one of them no longer had their eyes, their sockets were empty, clumpy blood pouring from them. It looked like someone had gouged out them out, but that's not what Malina did.
Not what she intended to do...
"We know you were mugged and we sympathise for you both, that's a scary situation to be in" Amy was the one speaking now, coming to the side of the table, her hands in her pockets.
Malina again trying not to look at either of them. "But we just need to know how this happened, I don't think either of you are capable of such a...a brutal killing".
This was the crucial decision Malina was dreading having to make, if she and the Helltaker said different things then they would know one of them was lying. From what Malina heard, he said he attacked them in 'Self defence'.
Would she tell the truth? Or try to lie in a similar manner.
"It was just a blur, they held me to one side, threatening to kill me" Malina decided to start with the truth, all three of the humans listening intensely. "They beat him while they searched me, they were looking for anything valuable" Malina paused, pretending that the memory of the attack was still as traumatic as ever.
"I tried breaking free, but it was hopeless...I'm sorry I don't know what happened after that..." the demon faked being scared, implying she was suppressing the memory.
To that remark, the detective simply scoffed, "Fuck off" she slammed to laptop lid down. "I already know what happened" she was speaking to Amy now, Sasha gestured to Malina's hands and the deep scratches on the table.
"She used them, isn't it obvious?", sadly Malina was not fooling anyone. Her outburst earlier had given them all the proof she needed.
"It would explain the lacerations to the neck, but-" Amy now had her arms crossed looking at the one way mirror.
"You know I am right Lieutenant", the detective took the laptop, holding it under her arm. "I have all the evidence I need anyway" she moved towards the door, Amy was glaring at her, watching the cruel detective leave.
"The Captain will hear about this" the ginger woman threatened.
"Oh, I plan on it. We just found our murderer, simultaneously closing this damn case. With him behind bars I will finally be able to move on with my life".
Both Malina and Amy were thrown back by this, both equally hating what the selfish detective had just said.
"This is completely different from the case you are working... you were supposed to investigate his disappearances and reappearances not throw him in jail" Amy spoke first.
"Don't tell me how to do my job" she had turned around to speak but now she was grasping the handle of the interrogation room to leave.
"Wait, you have been investigating him for how long?" Malina perked up, looking at the detective who was poised to exit the room.
"Practically three years" Sasha decided to answer honestly.
Ever since they had begun living together.
"Why?" the daughter of the devil needed to know.
"That's classified information, ask him yourself when you see him next" she paused for dramatic effect, "Which will be within the hour when you two are thrown in a cell".
"In a cell?" Malina was now actually worried.
"Yeah, till we decide what to do with ya" the smirk on Sasha's face replaced her worry with rage. She never thought she would utter the words her sister used to frequently.
"You fucking cunt".
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
A loud noise had made Malina jump, she had been sat in her cell for an hour or so. The demon was sitting on the cold concrete floor, resting her back against the hard concrete wall which had one single window in it. They had been at the precinct for hours now, the evening sun already shining through it.
Malina was drifting off to sleep just before the loud noise had startled her awake, it sounded like the door opening to the detaining cells. She had heard the same noise when she was brought here, it was a relatively quick questioning.
She decided to stand, the warm drowsy embrace of sleep had now escaped her. The demon was becoming quite depressed, she was being held here against her will and she hadn't seen any of her family in hours.
The once powerful demon had been reduced to a prisoner, she now stood at the door to her cell, leaning against the bars. As she peered through the bars, she saw the ever familiar black of the man's hair.
"Easy pal, I'm going" the Helltaker turned to face forward, he did not have the strength to resist after hours of questioning. As he was guided past he glanced in Malina's cell and saw her stood their in, staring in silence, desperation in her eyes.
"Malina!" he said, the man being shoved forward again. "Are you okay?!" he went out of sight of his demon.
"I'm fine" she called to him, the door next to her cell, on the left, opened and the Helltaker was pushed inside. The cell door clanged shut, the officer walking back past Malina giving her a nonchalant look.
The cells in which they were held in had three concrete walls and a cell door, the door having thick bars that you could put your arms through. Sadly, there was no way the Helltaker and Malina could see one another.
"I'm glad you are alright" his voice resounded throughout the corridor, thankfully they could still talk to one another. Malina remained silent, she wanted to see him, she wanted to touch him, for him to hug her. There were four cells in this part of detention centre, but surprisingly, they had the corridor to themselves.
"What did they ask you?" the Helltaker also leaning through the bars in his door, he looked over to his right. The concrete wall that separated them was only a few inches thick, it was a cruel barrier to place between the two.
"Just questions about our...date. That night on the way home...".
"Okay Malina, I'm going to have to speak to you in a strange way now" he said quickly, the realisation that anyone could be listening hitting him straight in the head.
"Uhh okay?" she sounded confused.
"Remember that day, we had that argument in the car about...you know what, don't say it out loud!" the man not wasting a single breath.
Why was he speaking like this? "Uhh, yeah I think I remember. What about it?".
"I know you didn't want to be treated that way anymore, but right now we are going to have to resume that...uh relationship".
What the fuck was he on about? "I said you were my step-dad".
"Yeah, what else would I be?" the man chuckled, hoping he was getting the hidden message across.
"Why are yo-" she stopped dead, Oh. Now she understood, we must maintain an alibi, a 'cover'. "I need to tell you something..." she decided to rest her head against the bars.
"What? Nothing important I hope" he implied not to let loose anything that would blow their cover. "I got angry and...scratched the table slightly" Malina kicking herself mentally for being so foolish.
"Scratched?" he asked, looking at the lock mechanism of his cell.
"Badly" is all she said.
"Shit" is all he could say back. Malina now began pacing her cell, the worry and the anxiety building incredibly.
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
The door to the detention cells opened, a woman they both recognised entered. "Amy, Amy!" he said pushing his face against the bars to look at her better. He watched as the woman entered but didn't proceed down the corridor. She was moving some sort of panel off the wall with her pocket knife.
"Shut up, you're lucky that the detective didn't tear you a new one back there, I've come to tell you what we plan to do to you and your fucking murderer of a daughter".
The white panel was pried off the wall and Amy pushed a small red button, resetting the audio devices that were currently recording in each cell. Once she had pressed the button she quickly replaced the panel, giving it a firm push, making it look like it had never moved.
"Okay we have got five minutes to talk before the microphones in your cell begin recording again" she walked over to stand in sight of both his cell and Malina's. "That was just a cover so they don't think anything suspicious was happening".
The Helltaker smiled upon seeing her in front of his door, Malina simply scowled at the woman. "Amy you gotta help me get a better lawyer, that braindead idiot couldn't save himself let alone anyone in court" the Helltaker begged.
"I'll see what I can do, I agree, that man is useless" she looked at Malina, then back at the man. "Anything else?".
"What are they going to do then? A standard trial? Judge and Jury?".
"It seems that way" Amy looked at her wrist, four minutes. "They are going to throw everything they have at you; this murder, your strange disappearances and reappearances caught on camera, your satanic styled family..."
"Okay...Okay" the Helltaker sighed, his mind beginning to form the plans of how he was going to handle this. "I'm gonna need a favour" he was practically begging at this point. However, Amy's sad gaze at the floor already told him the answer. "Please" the desperation obvious in his voice.
"I'm sorry, you will always be my best friend...but I can't help you out of this one". She eyed her smart watch, three minutes.
The Helltaker stared in disbelief, his desperation now turned to anger, but before he could vent she continued speaking. "If what they say about you is true...I know it's not but...I can't help you" she paused, "Not this time".
The Helltaker had been relying on her to help him out of this ugly situation, but now she wouldn't even try. He exploded with rage, "After all those years...you won't even try!". Amy took a step back, surprised at his sudden outburst, but she had been expecting this.
"I don't expect you to understand, I wish you all the luck in the world" she began her retreat to the exit.
"You keep changing Amy, one day you're loyal, the next day YOU STAB ME IN THE BACK!" he shouted through his cell door.
"You have the next two minutes without anyone listening" she swiped her ID on the card reader. "Goodbye Jason".
BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT
"THAT'S NOT MY FUCKING NAME!" he shouted, the door slamming shut.
"Shut up you big dumb idiot" Malina's voice seemed to calm him.
"I'm-m sorry" his grip on the bars loosening.
"How are we going to get out of this?" she asked, he thought he heard Malina pacing around her cell again.
"We keep calm and we tell the truth; we were mugged, we fought back, it was self defence, I got stabbed" he paused. "Yeah, that will work. Hopefully they will get us a better lawyer, it will be worth the cost but we-".
The Helltaker stopped his rambling, he wasn't originally aware of how fragile Malina's voice had sounded when she had spoken just.
Now he was hearing her cry...
"Malina- I.." he didn't know what to say. He looked at the right side of his cell door, moving towards the corner. He stood with his back to the door, he rolled his sleeve up the highest it would go.
The man wiggled his arm through the bars in his door, wrapping it around the wall that separated their cells, then pushed it as far as it would go through her door. From his elbow down to his fingers was now in Malina's cell. "Come here Malina" he said gently.
Malina had been laying on the small raised cushioned ledge which was supposed to be their bed while they were detained, it wasn't very comfy. The demon had been crying for a few minutes ever since he had began rambling. Malina was scared and she knew that she had screwed them over with that menacing display earlier.
She wasn't fooling anyone.
She saw his arm being pushed through the bars and went to it almost instantly, hugging his arm like a pillow. He felt her cheek rubbing against him, the tears running down his hairy arm, he would give anything to hold her, to comfort her.
"We are going to be okay".
:(
Disclaimer: I have no idea how the process of getting arrested and standing trial in the US goes. I don't think I'm too far off.
