Chapter 72:
Four Elite Fights
Well, today was the day.
Ahead of me would lay 5 of the biggest challenges of my journey. Overcome those challenges, and I become the Champion of the Sinnoh region.
I felt I was going to puke from anxiety. My journey had led up to this moment so naturally, I needed to be prepared. Even if I had been through thick and thin, this was the most nervous I had ever felt. Thankfully, I spent half my money of Revives and Full Restores.
Final check: the Guard needed to check my Badges. He was dressed like a Museum security guard, blue shirt, black jeans etc. Honestly if the Pokémon League was a Museum, then the gateway to the Elite Four would lead to the large diamond that every thief would have eyes on. That's how seriously the Guard's job was taken.
"Okay, let's see" he said taking my Badge Case and opening it up. "Coal Badge, Forest Badge, Cobble Badge, Fen Badge, Relic Badge, Mine Badge, Icicle Badge and the Beacon Badge." He scanned them with a scanner, like the one in shops. "Yep, these are all genuine. Lucas D. Pratt, you may go forth."
He stepped to one side, revealing the door that would lead to my destiny.
Strong battles were to come.
Battle 1:
Bugs of War
Inside was a corridor. At the other end of the corridor was a lift, like the ones in the Canalave Gym, but far higher tech. I stepped on it and it whisked me up to another door which I went through.
In the first room I felt like I'd shrunk. There was a giant log, giant rocks and more. It was like that movie about that Scientist who shrunk his children.
In the middle of the room was a teenager, I'd say 18 years of age. He wore a black sleeveless shirt, had green hair with part of it sticking out and orange trousers.
"Welcome to the League!" he said. "I'm Aaron. You know, Bug Types are fascinating. For many, they are some of the first Pokémon they ever catch. Do you like Bug Types?"
Of course I do. Well, maybe not Combee.
"Ah ha. I see. Well, Bug Types are a thing of beauty, and your first battle of the Elite Four will show it off! They're as small as they are strong! For the most part."
"I choose Mamoswine!" I yelled.
"Go Yanmega!" Aaron replied. He sent out a large green slim Flying Type with big red eyes and 4 fast red wings.
Yanmega
184
Bug/Flying Type
Ogre Darner Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
6'03" (1.9 m)
113.5 lbs (51.5 kg)
Its jaw power is incredible. It is adept at biting foes apart when at high speed.
Yamna -Ancient Power- Yanmega
"Mamoswine, use Ice Shard!" Mamoswine fired a shard of ice at Yanmega for Super Effective damage.
"Can't have you dealing with that Yanmega. U-Turn!" Yanmega tackled Mamoswine at blinding speed. It was then recalled. "Yeah, U-Turn deals damage then sends the Pokémon back. Let's see how you deal with Heracross!" He sent out the blue Bug/Fighting Type into the mix.
"Mamoswine, another Ice Shard!" Mamoswine fired another chunk of ice. Heracross didn't take much.
"Close Combat!" Heracross attacked Mamoswine multiple times. It was down. I knew just who to use now.
"Drifblim, go!" I yelled. Aaron looked a bit concerned; he couldn't do much against Drifblim with Heracross.
"Heracross, Bulk Up!" Heracross started getting buffed, raising its Attack and Defense. That wouldn't stop Shadow Ball though. Critical Hit! "Heracross, Megahorn!" Heracross jabbed Drifblim very hard with its horn. It did very little, even with the Bulk Up boost.
"Shadow Ball!" I shouted as the shadowy blob finished off Heracross.
"I choose Vespiquen!" Aaron yelled. Out came a large yellow and black Pokémon that looked like a giant hive.
Vespiquen
054
Bug/Flying Type
Beehive Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
3'11" (1.2 m)
84.9 lbs (38.5 kg)
When endangered, grubs from its six-cell honeycomb strike back. There is only one in a colony.
Combee (Female) -Lv 21- Vespiquen
Okay, this stupid thing was going down.
"Drifblim, Shadow Ball!" Another Shadow Ball was a success.
"Vespiquen, use Power Gem!" Before I could question what Power Gem was, Vespiquen fired a glowing rock at Drifblim for lots of damage. Great, I would have to deal with a Rock Type move.
"Another Shadow Ball!" Didn't quite knock out Vespiquen, but I had won anyway.
"Vespiquen, use another Power Gem!" Vespiquen fired another glowing rock at Drifblim. Of course, Drifblim fainted, but Aftermath also dealt with the weak Vespiquen. It's amazing how Aftermath has always been useful since day one.
I had three more to defeat, one of which was Yanmega. "I choose Empoleon!" I shouted.
"Go Scizor!" Aaron replied. "Okay, use Night Slash!" Scizor swiped Empoleon with a dark claw for not much.
"Empoleon, Surf!" Empoleon created a large wave that washed away a lot of Scizor's health.
"Use another Night Slash!" Once again, this didn't do much.
"Surf again!" Empoleon swamped the battlefield once again. Scizor was finished.
Aaron was now getting desperate. "Okay, come out Yanmega!" His first Pokémon joined the match. "Use Air Slash!" Yanmega swiped the air, sending a shock wave that hit Empoleon. Not much was done due to Empoleon being a Steel Type. This match wasn't cake walk or anything, I think it came down to the Pokémon I was using.
"Empoleon, Drill Peck!" Empoleon span quickly into Yanmega. A lot of damage was done due to Type advantage and Yanmega was a fainted man. Err, Bug.
Aaron got out his final Pokéball. "You've done good against my Bug Types. But whaddya say we change things up a bit?!" He sent out a large purple Pokémon with claws on its hands and at the end of its long tail to.
Drapion
128
Poison/Dark Type
Ogre Scorp Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
4'03" (1.3 m)
135.6 lbs (61.5 kg)
It has the power in its clawed arms to make scrap of a car. The tips of its claws release poison.
Skorupi -Lv 40- Drapion
"Hah, your Poison Type moves won't do anything to my Steel Type Empoleon!" I told him.
Aaron just smirked. "But my Electric Type move will." "Drapion, Thunder Fang!" Drapion bit Empoleon with its electric jaw. A lot of damage was dealt. This would be Empoleon's only move to get in, well technically two.
"Empoleon, Flash Cannon!" Empoleon shot a white beam at Drapion. It was a direct hit, and Drapion Sp. Defense fell. "Now use Aqua Jet!" Empoleon charged into Drapion quickly, but not for much. Drapion's hard shell was clearly hard to crack.
"Thunder Fang!" Drapion once again bit down on Empoleon. It was a shocking end for Empoleon.
With its Sp. Defense lowered though, I figured I should take advantage of it by using Blissey. "Blissey, Focus Blast!" Blissey fired the ball of energy at Drapion. It was down!
"Congratulations" Aaron told me. "You have overcome my creepy crawlies with style, but also with great Types. This match may have been easy for you, but I am not your only challenge today. You still have the rest of the Elite Four to take down, along with the Champion. I wish you luck."
With that, the door behind him opened.
Through the door was another corridor with another lift. I stepped on this one and it whisked me up to another door.
Battle two:
You're Grounded Mister
Whereas as Aaron's room made me feel small, the next room made me feel like I was standing in a fissure. Around me was giant rocks, all in the small room on a gravely ground.
My opponent this time was an elderly woman, I'd say late 60s, with grey hair, a brown scarf and a white coat.
"Why hello my dear, you are an adorable Trainer. A strong Trainer to, you certainly showed those blue haired tyrants who was boss. My name is Bertha, an expert of Ground Types. Fascinating ones these. Some love the underground, some love the sand, some love the mud, but all love the feeling of battle, as I am about to demonstrate!"
"Go Drifblim!" I shouted.
"Whiscash my dear, come forth!" Bertha said, sending out the Water Type.
"Drifblim, use Shadow Ball!" Drifblim shot the Ghost Type move at the slippery foe.
"Whiscash dear, use Aqua Tail!" Whiscash's tail suddenly started surging with water. It hit Drifblim with it.
"Drifblim, use another Shadow Ball!" Another attack and Whiscash was barely hanging on.
"Use Future Sight." Whiscash started seeing into the future. This would be bad news.
"Drifblim, Silver Wind!" Drifblim fired a white gust at Whiscash. This finished it off.
"Gliscor dear, come on out!" Bertha sent out a large dark blue Pokémon with black wings, large claws, and yellow eyes.
Gliscor
154
Ground/Flying Type
Fang Scorp Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
6'07" (2 m)
93.7 lbs (42.5 kg)
If it succeeds in catching even a faint breeze properly, it can circle the globe without flapping once.
Gligar -Trade with Razor Fang- Gliscor
"Gliscor dear, use Ice Fang!" Gliscor swooped down and bit Drifblim with an icy fang. Unfortunately, it was a Critical Hit, Drifblim was finished. Aftermath did a bit of damage.
"I choose Mamoswine!" I commanded. Hopefully Gliscor would freeze. "Use Ice Shard!" A shot of ice was fired at Gliscor, which was hit. It fell out the air accordingly.
"Gliscor dear, give it an Aerial Ace!" Gliscor glided up then dove down into Mamoswine. It was fine. Just then, a ball of Psychic energy hit Mamoswine; it was the Future Sight. Thankfully, Mamoswine was fine.
"Another Ice Shard!" Mamoswine hit Gliscor once again. This time Gliscor was down for good.
"Okay then. Golem dear, lets rock and roll!" Out came the Rock Type.
"Good job Mamoswine, take a break. I choose Empoleon!" I commanded. "This Golem should be easier to take down than the last one. Use Surf!" Empoleon created a large wave. Golem was hit hard and almost knocked out.
"Earthquake dear!" Golem made the earth shake. Thankfully, Empoleon kept its balance.
"Use Aqua Jet!" Empoleon landed the Aqua Jet, fainting Golem officially.
"Hippowdon my dear, go!" Bertha sent out a large grey Pokémon with a large mouth and sand coming out of the holes from its back and giant nostrils.
Hippowdon
123
Ground Type
Heavyweight Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
6'07" (2 m)
661.4 lbs (300 kg)
It blasts internally stored sand from ports on its body to create a towering twister for attack.
Hippopotas -Lv 34- Hippowdon
"Empoleon, Surf!" The tsunami Empoleon created did a lot of damage to the giant sand monster.
"Hippowdon, use Earthquake!" Another ground shaking move and Empoleon was finished. But I certainly wasn't.
"I choose Toxicroak!" I shouted. I knew a Poison Type was risky, but I had a plan, nonetheless. "Use Sucker Punch!" Toxicroak attacked Hippowdon before it could get in an attack. This fainted it.
"Good strategy sweetie. But I have one more left, and this one does not play around whatsoever. Go Rhyperior my dear!" She sent out a large brown Pokémon with orange slates all over it. It had a giant horn and large arms.
Rhyperior
188
Ground/Rock Type
Drill Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
7'10" (282.8 kg)
623.5 lbs (282.8 kg)
It can launch a rock held in its hand like a middle by tightening then expanding muscles instantly.
Rhyhorn -Lv 42- Rhydon -Trade holding Protector- Rhyperior
"Toxicroak, this looks like a tough one. But we can pull through. Use Revenge!" Toxicroak punched Rhyperior for Super Effective damage. However, it didn't do as much as I wanted it to.
"Solid Rock is Rhyperior's Ability dear. It reduces the damage from Super Effective moves by ¼. Rhyperior, use Earthquake!" Another shaking of the ground and Toxicroak was done for.
"Blissey, come on out!" I said. "Use Grass Knot!" Blissey made some blades of grass underneath Rhyperior, causing it to trip. Even with Solid Rock, the wight difference meant that a lot was done to Rhyperior.
"Rhyperior dear, use Rock Wrecker!"
Getting up, Rhyperior summoned a rock from its hand. After charging up, it threw the rock at Blissey. A LOT of damage was done, with Blissey hanging by a thread. I knew that if Blissey went down, it would be a hard time.
"Blissey, use Grass Knot!" Blissey tried again, but it missed. "Oh no!"
"Relax dear, you've probably won" Bertha told me. I looked at Rhyperior; it was panting a lot. "Rock Wrecker is so powerful that it causes the user to recharge.
I decided to use this opportunity with another Grass Knot. This Grass Knot was a hitter, which also made me the winner.
"Congratulations dear" Bertha said. "You have defeated me into the ground. You should give yourself a pat on the back. Hm, on second thought that can wait. You have more challenges that await you. You're halfway through the Elite Four members, don't stop whilst you're at the top of your game dear!"
I wasn't, especially with the familiar face in the next room.
Battle 3:
Neat Heat
This room had what looked like magma flowing through tubes. This room was noticeably hotter; I felt like I was in Mt. Chimney. But who was my opponent?
"Hiyah soon to be Champ!" Flint told me. "Hey, thanks again for reigniting the flame inside Volkner. I can confirm he's been enjoying his battles a ton recently. However, let's have a battle that generates more energy than all of the battles that Volkner has been having! We will do it with my Fire Types! Let's light em up!"
"Go Luxray!" I shouted.
"I choose Houndoom!" Flint commanded. "Use Flamethrower!" Houndoom shot flames at Luxray.
"Luxray, give em a dose of your electricity!" Luxray suddenly let out multiple sparks. They went flying everywhere, including into Houndoom who took a lot of damage.
"Discharge aye?" Flint commented. "Not too shabby, learning that here." It also wasn't too shabby because Houndoom was paralyzed.
"Finish with another one Luxray!" Luxray used another Discharge, finishing off Houndoom.
"This furnace has only just been lit. Flareon, show em who's boss!" Flint sent out an orange quadruped Pokémon with cream coloured fur.
Flareon

2'11" (0.9 m)
55.1 lbs (25 kg)
Inhaled air is heated in the flame sac in its body to an intense fire over 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1648 C).
Eevee -Fire Stone- Flareon
"Luxray, Discharge!" More sparks went flying everywhere, but Flareon took it.
"Use Fire Fang!" Flareon bit Luxray with firey jaws, meaning it was the end for Luxray.
"Go Blissey!" I commanded.
"Flareon, use Superpower!" Wasn't expecting that. Flareon got buff, then tackled Blissey. It was down in one, but Flareon's Defense and Attack were lowered. I knew I needed to take that chance.
"Mamoswine, go!" I yelled. "Use Earthquake!" Mamoswine shook the ground and Flareon was taken out big time. Thank you, Superpower.
"Rapidash, let's gallop!" Flint yelled, sending out his Rapidash. "Use Flare Blitz!" Rapidash started charging, flames coming off it…
It missed!
"Alright! Mamoswine, use Earthquake!" Mamoswine shook the ground once again, taking out Rapidash in one blow.
Flint was now shaking in his shoes. "Infernape, go!" Flint shouted. I knew Mamoswine going up against a Fire/Fighting Type wasn't a good idea, so I switched into Drifblim.
"Drifblim, Shadow Ball!" Drifblim hit Infernape relatively hardly.
"I've come prepared" Flint told me. "Infernape, Shadow Claw!" Infernape's claw turned dark, then it slashed Drifblim. Half its health was gone.
"Drifblim, use another Shadow Ball!" Another great shot.
"Infernape, Flare Blitz!" Infernape rammed its flaming body into Drifblim, knocking it out. Infernape then took a lot of recoil. "Nice one Infernape!"
"NOT SO FAST!" I told him as Drifblim exploded, taking Infernape down with it.
Flint was down to his last Pokémon. "Go, Magmortar!" He yelled, sending out a giant red flaming Pokémon with yellow blasters for hands.
Magmortar
202
Fire Type
Blast Pokémon

Magby (Baby Pokémon) -Lv 30- Magmar -Trade with Magmarizer- Magmortar
"I choose Empoleon!" I commanded.
"Magmortar, Thunderbolt!" Well, I wasn't expecting that. Magmortar fired a bolt of lightning at Empoleon. THANKFULLY Empoleon survived it.
"Okay Empoleon, ready? Use Surf then Aqua Jet!" Empoleon created its large wave and then crashed it into Magmortar. Magmortar almost fell back from a loss of balance. "NOW!" Empoleon used that opening for the Aqua Jet, which was a Critical Hit. Magmortar was down!
"Nice one dude!" Flint said. "Say, you're not like any Trainer I've met. I'm really glad about that. Not just for everything you do, but for what you're about to do. One final Elite Four member, then you have the honour of battling for the role of Champion. You've come far kid."
Battle 4:
In my Trick Room
Inside the final room where many white lights against a purple wall; it gave off a mysterious feel. The Trainer was equally as mysterious; he had long purple hair, wide glasses, and a red suit.
"Pleasure to be your acquaintance" he said, putting his right hand to his chest. "My name is Lucian, a Trainer of the Psychic Type. Yes, they are truly mysterious beings, as all Pokémon are. But I argue Psychic Types are a special case, having ties to many Legendary Pokémon after all such as the supposed origin of all Pokémon. They are also what will beat you right here!"
"Go Toxicroak!" I shouted.
"I choose Mr. Mime!" Lucian replied. I needed to be careful. I wouldn't use Sucker Punch first due to Mr. Mime being able to form barriers.
"Mr. Mime, Safeguard!" Mr. Mime created a forcefield around itself. Safeguard is a move that prevents alignments like poison, effectively throwing a strategy out the window.
"Toxicroak, Poison Jab!" I shouted. Thankfully Poison Jab was still strong on Mr. Mime.
"Mr. Mime, Psychic!" Mr. Mime hit Toxicroak with Psychic energy; it was down in one.
"I choose Luxray!" I shouted. "Use Crunch!" Luxray bit down on Mr. Mime, finishing it off.
"Go, Espeon!" Lucian commanded. Out came a pink Pokémon on four legs with large ears and a red jewel on its forehead.
Espeon

Its fur is so sensitive, it can sense minute shifts in the air and predict the weather.
Eevee -Happiness at Daytime- Espeon
"Luxray, Crunch!" Luxray bit down on Espeon for lots of damage.
"Espeon, Psychic!" A blast of Psychic energy almost knocked out Luxray.
"Another Crunch!" Luxray viciously bit down on Espeon, knocking it out.
"Go, Alakazam!" Lucian's next Pokémon was large, yellow and held a spoon in each hand.
Alakazam
022
Psychic Type
Psi Pokémon
Region of origin: Kanto
4'11" (1.5 m)
105.8 lbs (48 kg)
Its superb memory lets it recall everything it has experienced since birth. Its IQ exceeds 5,000.
Abra -Lv 16- Kadabra -Trade- Alakazam
"Alakazam, Psychic!" Alakazam lifted up Luxray telepathically, then slammed it down again. Luxray was finished.
"Empoleon, come on out!" I shouted. Empoleon's Steel Typing could resist Psychic Type moves.
"Alakazam, use Focus Blast!" Alakazam fired a ball of energy at Empoleon, but it missed.
"Nice try. Let's do it again Empoleon. Surf!" Once again, Empoleon made a wave that crashed into Alakazam. "Now use Aqua Jet!" Whilst Alakazam got its balance back, Empoleon used Aqua Jet…
But it missed! It crashed into the wall.
"A perfect target. Focus Blast!" Alakazam fired the ball of energy at Empoleon for an easy knockout.
"Empoleon!" I yelled, then recalled it. "Okay. I choose Mamoswine!" The giant Ice Type bellowed upon entering battle.
"Alakazam, Focus Blast!" This was another thankful miss.
"Mamoswine, Earthquake!" Alakazam stomped down, making everything tremor. Alakazam was finished.
"Well, let's see how you're faster Mamoswine deals with my slower Bronzong!" Lucian sent out a grey bell-like Pokémon with red eyes on its chest.
Bronzong
089
Steel/Psychic Type
Bronze Bell Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
4'03" (1.3 m)
412.3 lbs (187 kg)
One caused a news sensation when it was dug up at a construction site after a 2,000 year sleep.
Bronzor -Lv 33- Bronzong
"Mamoswine, Earthquake!" Mamoswine caused a tremor, taking away a lot of HP from Bronzong.
"Trick Room!" Bronzong suddenly made the walls in the room turn pink.
"One more Mamoswine, use-"
"Flash Cannon Bronzong!" Bronzong, almost at the speed of light, shot a Flash Cannon at Mamoswine. It was finished in one.
I was confused. How did Bronzong get so fast?
"Like I said, Bronzong is a slow Pokémon. Trick Room however makes it so that the slowest Pokémon goes first. I think it's an excellent strategy if you ask me."
Well, it certainly worked on me. I decided the slowest Pokémon I have standing would be best. "Go Blissey!" I yelled. Blissey is still faster than Bronzong, or would Bronzong be faster? I don't know, Trick Room was messing with my mind.
"Bronzong, use Faint Attack!" Bronzong went up to Blissey from behind then bit it.
"Blissey, Focus Blast!" Blissey created the Focus Blast and, with Bronzong is close ranged, gave it the blow it needed to knock it out.
"So. Time for my final one! Come on out Gallade!" Lucian said, sending out a white Pokémon with green arms. On its elbows it had blades.
Gallade
160
Psychic/Fighting Type
Blade Pokémon
Region of origin: Sinnoh
5'03" (1.6 m)
114.6 lbs (52 kg)
When trying to protect someone, it extends its elbows as if they were swords and fights savagely.
Ralts -Lv 20- Kirlia -Dawn Stone (Male) – Gallade
I knew Gallade would be slower here, so I used it to my advantage. "Blissey, Grass Knot!" There was little weight difference though, so it didn't do much.
"Gallade, Drain Punch!" Gallade's suddenly punched Blissey hard. The Grass Knot damage was healed.
"Blissey, use Grass Knot again!" Blissey made Gallade once again trip up.
"Swords Dance!" Gallade suddenly danced, raising its Attack.
"Again!" Grass Knot of course dealt little damage. Blissey was about to say its prayers.
"Drain Punch once more!" An even stronger Drain Punch fully healed Gallade and fainted Blissey. Following this, Trick Room conditions returned to normal. This was the final straw, even if Gallade was now faster and stronger.
"Drifblim, go!" I yelled. "We can do this."
"Gallade, Psycho Cut!" Gallade's elbow this time turned pink, then sliced Drifblim with it.
"Drifblim, Shadow Ball!" A shadowy blob was fired at Gallade. It was a Critical Hit, but only did half damage.
"Gallade, another Psycho Cut!" Gallade once again swiped Drifblim. It was hanging by a thread.
"Shadow Ball!" Gallade was almost done. It just needed to attack Drifblim one more time.
"Psycho Cut!" One more swipe meant that Gallade succumbed to the Aftermath.
"My my, you read my mind first" Lucian told me. "Congratulations, but I can assure you that you shouldn't start celebrating too hard. There is one more foe to face before you beat the Sinnoh League. It's through the door."
Through the door was a longer corridor. The lift going up was twice the height of the others. I steeped on it and was whisked up to another door.
This room was black. That's all I could say aside from the final elevator behind the Champion.
And who was that?
"Hello" Cynthia said.
