Author's note: I'll be taking a little break from writing this, I've not been in a writing mood for a little while. I'm unsure when I'll be back but I'll try not to wait too long. Thanks again everyone!
"This mission was boring."
Qrow snorts at that.
"Huntsman missions are always boring. We got the lucky pick in that we got to kill a Grimm." Qrow points to the spot where its corpse disappeared.
"I mean, I understand that. We literally killed the Grimm on the second day of a week long mission though." Chris deadpans.
Qrow sighs at that.
'Kid does have a point... the hell are we going to do for a week?'
"Hey Qrow."
"Yeah kid?"
"Wanna see something cool?"
Qrow is suspicious of that.
"... what do you have in mind?"
Chris smirks at that.
"Wanna go see my new house?"
...
"Huh?"
"What." Qrow is staring at Chris with bafflement.
Chris grins at him.
"This is my new home, you're the first one who's seen it."
Chris points to the area where his massive house is contained. It's hidden from aerial and ground view, built into a mountain to protect from weather and hide from humans and Grimm. Unfortunately, that means there isn't any windows for occupants to look through. The door to the front entrance is built to look exactly like the surface of the mountain, so the only way you'd notice it is if you already knew. A hidden biometric handprint scanner is the only way to open the door, so Chris presses his hand to where a doorknob would normally be and the door opens. Qrow is given the house tour.
"Mi casa, su casa." bowing with a smirk.
"I never would've even noticed this if you didn't point it out... how the hell did you get this done in such a short time? Did you hire someone?"
"Yup. I'd tell you but I'm not sure they'd take too kindly to being snitched on like that."
"Well, guess it's none of my business. What's the real reason for this, though?"
Chris was taken aback by that.
"Real reason?"
Qrow just stares at him with the "really?" face.
"Kid, you almost never do anything without a reason. Regardless of how you portray yourself to be a moron."
...
"... why do you have to be smart now?" Chris sighs, giving in.
"Fine, I mayyyyyyyy have done this so Neo and Roman can be safe."
Qrow facepalms at that.
"You spent Oum knows how much money on this place to keep them safe in what is basically a mansion?"
...
"Well, mostly?" Chris smiles sheepishly.
Qrow just stares at Chris in disbelief.
"You're a moron."
"Fuck you dad. Let's just go back to Vale already." Chris looks away with a pout.
Qrow laughs and ruffles his hair.
"Sure kid."
"Your mission was successful?" Ozpin sips from his mug, coffee addict that he is.
"You sent the kid, who can kick my ass, along with me to kill a mid level threat." Qrow deadpans at that. Ozpin just chuckles.
"Very well. Your first mission is complete Christopher. Payment for you two will be delivered shortly." Ozpin stamps his seal on the paperwork for the mission.
"Ten-thousand lien huh? Can I just give that to the fund for the dance or something? It's not like I really need it." Chris shrugs at the reward, truly not caring about receiving payment.
"If that is your wish. That amount of money will be a nice addition towards the fund." Ozpin shrugs at that as well, if Christopher didn't want it then the school could use it.
Qrow just rolls his eyes at Chris with a chuckle.
"Well, my money sure as hell won't be going towards a kiddy dance. You can get it to me later Oz. I'm gonna go hit up a bar in the meantime." Qrow waves and heads to the elevator to leave.
"Truly the picture of stability there dad. Don't come home with any STDs!" Chris shouts after him.
Just before the elevator doors close, Qrow flips him off. Ozpin can't hold in a snort at that, despite trying.
"With that out of the way, did you need anything else Christopher?"
"I mean, I need a lot of things. You'd have to be more specific."
Ozpin rolls his eyes.
"Clearly not then, go rejoin your team. It's lunchtime so I expect they should be in the cafeteria. I have more work to do." shooing Christopher out of his office.
Christopher just shakes his head in amusement and does precisely that. He arrives at the cafeteria quickly, plastering a grin on his face before stepping through the door.
"Honey, I'm home!" Chris shouts and the entire cafeteria turns to him in disbelief that someone would do something like that, until they realize it's Chris and just shake their head at his usual antics. Ruby squeals and disappears from her table in rose pedals. Attaching herself in a death grip to hug Chris's chest, he nearly falls over.
"Big bro! You're back so early! Did your mission already end?!"
Chris laughs at her extremely fast talking and hugs her back.
"Way too easy. I still don't see how that Grimm killed three hunters before I took a crack at it." shaking his head to himself, while others around him look horrified and awed at the same time.
"... it killed three hunters?"
"He killed something that did that?!"
"That guy is scary..."
"Teach me how to do that!"
An eruption of whispering and shouting came from the cafeteria, for a single Grimm to kill even one fully-fledged Hunter was uncommon. For someone to kill the Grimm that did that singlehandedly?
"How strong is he?!" Velvet's shout silenced the entire cafeteria.
Them not used to hearing her speak, much less shout in such a way causes all eyes to fall to her. Velvet blushes at the attention, her ears drooping to try to cover her eyes in embarrassment. Coco just laughs at that and hugs her girlfriend close, further making Velvet blush the color of her name. Mercury and Emerald, across the cafeteria from team CFVY, look to each other in equal parts horror and shock. Cinder looks intrigued at Chris's story.
"... this could be a problem." Cinder observes, making Emerald and Mercury nod to each other.
"Or this could be a great opportunity..." Cinder smirks a little, making both her subordinates uneasy.
'With power like that, if he was to become a member of our side...'
Cinder smirks even wider.
"Both of you listen up. Your new orders are to integrate yourself in his life, at all costs. He may be the most valuable person here... I hope you understand how failure will be received."
...
"We... understand." Emerald gulps and Mercury sighs exasperatedly.
"Always the grunts stuck with the hard work..."
