Chapter 36: Gryffindor Win The House Cup, Again
29/5/1993
~~~~~~~~~
Cassandra had been to several Hogwarts feasts, but never one quite like this.
After she had finished crying into Blaises arms she had washed Gems blood off and gotten into her pyjamas, like everyone else, in the hopes of going to bed. But of course Dumbledore just had to hold the end of year feast at bloody midnight.
There was not one student who wasn't in their night clothes, as they all sat at their house table. Cassandra just leant into Blaise the whole time, Theo was holding her hand and Draco's leg rubbed her comfortingly under the table. To everyone else it just looked like she was tired.
Unfortunately the celebration lasted all night.
Everyone who was petrified were talking with their friends the loudest. Granger had ran up to Potter, throwing her arms around him screaming "You solved it! You solved it!" She did chuckle however when she awkwardly shook the Weasels hand.
The first thing Justin Finch-Fletchley did was hurry over to the Gryffindor table to wring Potters hand and apologize endlessly to him and Hagrid had burst through the door at half past three, a slightly haunted look on his face from his time in Azkaban.
He had cuffed Potter and Weasley so hard on the shoulders that they were knocked into their plates of trifle.
The worst part of the night however was the fact that Gryffindor had won the house cup again. If Dumbledore hadn't given 200 freakin points each to Scarhead and Weaselbee the house of green and silver would have won - but of course we couldn't have that! They had still won the Quidditch cup but it wasn't the same.
Despite having stressed so hard over revising Cassandra was actually glad to hear that the exams were cancelled and cheered along with everyone else.
She also clapped when Dumbledore announced that Professor Lockhart would be unable to return next year, owing to the fact that he needed to go away and get his memory back. Even the teachers were happy about this!
"I wonder who are defence teacher will be next year?" Stated Pansy.
"Whoever it is they can't be worse than the last two!"
The group nodded in agreement, sneering as the watched the headmaster award Professor McGonagall with the house cup.
One thing that Cass noticed was that Potter, Weasley and now Granger had been glaring at her the whole feast. I guess Pothead told them I'm the daughter of Voldemort, she thought, I'm still okay though as Dumbledore wouldn't have allowed him to tell anyone else - plus they don't know I know who my father is. No need to worry myself!
She then smiled and closed her eyes, falling asleep onto her best friends arm.
The rest of the final term passed in a haze of blazing sunshine. Hogwarts was back to normal with only a few, small differences. Defense Against the Dark Arts classes were canceled to the joy of anyone who ever attended one - so the whole school.
Cassandra and Draco had received some awful news. Lucius had been sacked as school governor. This left the two disheartened, Cass more than she already was, and they had spent the last remaining weeks more subdued.
It was now time for the journey home on the Hogwarts Express. The Slytherins were joined by Luna in their compartment - even the Weasley Twins made a quick visit to check when they would be meeting up in the holidays.
Before arriving at the station most of the group played Exploding Snap - Cass, Theo and Daphne however chose to read. Luna was curled up in Cassandra's lap and Astoria was curled up in her sisters. The two second year Slytherins had smiled at each other, they always thought of each other as sisters and now they had the two little ones at Hogwarts to care for too.
Cassandra, like usual was leaning into Blaise. It was like a small family. Blaise was the older brother, the one who cared for Cassandra and always comforted her. Daphne was like her twin, they had an unbreakable bond, and the two first years were their baby sisters - those she would protect no matter what.
Cass loved her extended family. She of course loved all her friends like family, but these were the ones who she was closer too. And of course there was Draco, who actually was her family, she loved him too - no matter how much of an arsehole he could be!
These lovely thoughts filled up her head as the train arrived at Kings Cross Station.
She hugged everyone goodbye and then her mother disapparated them both back to Riddle manor where she told her parents of the adventures she took part in this year.
She wondered if next year would be as exciting.
