Chapter 44: The Half Saiyan Warrior
Last Time Elias was head to head with the demon known as Jarze. At first, the two seemed near even power until Jarze revealed his secret power, slowly but surely overpowering the final Tuffle. However, using his smarts and ingenuity Elias came up victorious. Now two demons remain! What happens next NOW!
Gohan flew high in the sky as Hagota followed close behind. The Half Saiyan who was currently in Super Saiyan 2 flew around in order to gauge Hagota's speed. Unless he was holding back to toy with the hybrid, Hagota was just slower than him.
He also flew high in the sky so that their battle wouldn't deal any damage to Earth. Hagota began to fire a large beam in order to stop Gohan in his tracks. It did just that as Gohan was forced to dodge the beam allowing Hagota to catch up with the Half Saiyan.
"Enough running. Let us battle." Hagota demanded.
"If you insist. I won't be holding back so let's go!" Gohan replied as he sped towards Hagota.
The demon caught Gohan's attack before proceeding to knee at the hybrid's face. However, Gohan was able to catch Hagota's attack in turn. The two fighters held one another in place, fighting to land their respective strikes until they broke apart.
Gohan then fired a Kamehameha straight at Hagota, who crossed his arms and held off the attack. Upon seeing this, Gohan poured more energy into his attack, slowly push Hagota backward.
"Impressive Saiyan," Hagota murmured as he cut apart the beam by opening his arms apart.
"My turn." Hagota declared as he opened both of his palms and fired two beams at Gohan.
The Half Saiyan managed to dodge the first beam and kick away the second, but before he could counter, Hagota appeared in front of him. Hagota slammed his fist into Gohan's gut before grabbing onto the Saiyan's head and kneeing him in the face.
However, before the demon could land another hit, Gohan released a burst of energy, keeping the demon away. To make sure Hagota wouldn't attack straight away, Gohan proceeded to fire a Masenko to blast the demon further away.
Quickly following, Gohan punched Hagota several times in the gut before kicking the demon in the chin. Flipping over, Hagota fired two beams from his eyes that Gohan easily dodged. However, the beams took right-angle turns to hit Gohan in the back tearing his Gi and causing him to fall.
Before he fell too far, Gohan managed to steady himself and fly back into action. The Half Saiyan maneuvered around the sky to avoid the beams hailing down upon him courtesy of Hagota. As he smacked two beams away, Gohan sent one of his own at the demon.
Hagota was unfazed by the half-cocked attack, but he was taken aback when Gohan got behind him and kicked him in the spine. Spinning around, Hagota kicked Gohan across the face before grabbing onto the boy's leg and throwing him around.
Gohan eventually broke free of Hagota's grip and slammed his elbow into the demon's stomach. The boy proceeded to fire blast upon blast of energy at the demon, not relenting for a second. As the sky erupted in explosions, Gohan ended his onslaught with a Masenko.
However, Hagota was relatively unharmed by the attack as he charged at Gohan, who flew straight up to avoid him. While it seemed that Hagota had the advantage of strength, Gohan had the advantage of speed.
"Little brat," Hagota muttered as he followed after.
"Running can only get you so far," Hagota stated as he fired a beam that split apart and converged in front of Gohan, trapping him in a cage of energy.
With no way out, Gohan was forced to exert a large amount of energy to push the attack away. However, this left the Half Saiyan vulnerable to Hagota's next attack as the demon slammed his knee in Gohan's gut.
As Gohan reeled back in pain, he tried to think of a plan. While he would like to go seek an area where he could use the terrain to his advantage. However, Gohan didn't want to cause too much damage to the Earth as it would be irreversible.
Though by what he was sensing, it seems the others weren't really focusing on the same thing. It seems that Gohan had made a tactical error, but he wasn't going to let that get him down. This was the first big fight he has had in a while, so error was par for the course.
"There's no way he's going to let me lead him anywhere else, so this is where the fight will have to stay." Gohan thought as he dodged Hagota's next attack.
Gohan stayed on the defensive while he tried to think of a plan that was more than hitting him really really hard. After all, he wasn't his dad who just solved all his fights with brute force. As Hagota tried to chop Gohan at both sides, the Half Saiyan flipped over the demon before firing a Kamehameha point-blank.
The beam hit Hagota square in the back, sending him flying away. Seeing an opportunity to change the scenery, Gohan quickly followed and punched the demon further and further away until they reached a forest. Gohan stopped his attack.
Now able to move once more, Hagota turned around and flew right at Gohan, who stood still waiting for the demon. Hagota reared his fist back to attack Gohan, but the Half Saiyan was faster, landing a strike of his own on Hagota's face.
Acting fast, Gohan landed several more blows on the demon before he darted off, only to return to land another blow on Hagota. This continued for several attacks until Hagota fired off several blasts in all directions to stop Gohan.
Now that he had the advantage of not only speed but Gohan was now able to hide in the forest below. Using the cover, Gohan began a new assault of attacking Hagota by blindsiding the demon several times before hiding back in the forest.
Knowing that there was no way he could keep up with Gohan's speed, the demon created a large ball of energy to eviscerate the forest below. However, Gohan was not about to let that happen as he appeared before Hagota charging a Kamehameha to knock back the attack.
But Hagota was ready for his as he fired beams from his eyes, which struck Gohan in the chest, stopping the Half Saiyan from charging the Kamehameha. With Gohan now out in the open and still reeling from the pain of Hagota's eye beams, Hagota threw the ball he had created.
Gohan raised his hands and push back against the giant ball of energy that threatened to destroy the forest below and injure him. The Saiyan hybrid pushed back with all his strength and eventually managed to disperse the energy that made the ball.
However, as the ball disappeared, Hagota came through and slammed his fist into Gohan's stomach. As Gohan fell to the ground, Hagota flew down and kicked him away and outside the forest into a nearby mountain.
Hagota slowly descended from the sky, landing at the small hole in the mountain that Gohan made. He studied for any sign of life from the boy. The demon got his answer when the entire mountain top exploded from a large burst of energy.
Gohan stood there staring at Hagota with cold eyes as gold energy and lightning surrounded him. As the debris of the mountaintop rained around the two, Gohan disappeared and reappeared in front of Hagota, landing a swift blow to his face.
The two exchanged several blows, with Gohan landing the most due to his superior speed. Though the blows Hagota landed were much stronger. While the two fought, news of not only their fight but the rest traveled across the world, and one man was the center of attention.
Hercule Satan's Mansion…
"Mr. Satan, do you have any insight as to what is going on?" One Reporter asked.
"Mr. Satan, will you be taking personal action against these attackers just as you did Cell?" Another Reporter inquired.
"There is no need to worry people. Because I Hercule Satan will guarantee the safety of the people!" Hercule began.
"As we speak, some of my most talented…uh…students…are engaging these deviants as we speak!" Hercule stammered as he struggled to keep up his lie.
"But shouldn't you as the world martial arts champion take care of the threat?" A Reporter questioned.
"Nonsense, these evildoers wouldn't last a minute against me, and while I don't want to admit it, I am getting up there in age. I won't be here forever, and I do like spending time with my daughter." Hercule began.
"So it's only natural to train others to fight in case I can't make it in time." Hercule continued.
"But what about the feats they are performing, such as flying and shooting lasers? Isn't that similar to what Cell had demonstrated during the Cell Games?" Another Reporter questioned.
"That's just special effects they use to scare off the enemies and throw them off guard. While they wouldn't use this if it was in an official tournament in the name of protecting Earth, everything must be done!" Hercule declared.
As he threw peace signs in the air, the crowd of reporters and concerned citizens roared in applause and appreciation. While Hercule gave them a stoic face and laugh of confidence in what he had said on the inside, he was terrified on the edge of pissing himself.
"What the hell is going on right now!? This is like Cell all over again but five times worse!" Hercule panicked.
"Those people fighting them better win because I don't know what I'll be able to do if I'm called into action." Hercule thought as sweat covered him.
Over by one of the windows of the mansion, his daughter Videl looked down on him, pondering at what her father had said. While she did appreciate he thought about increasing their time together, she had never heard of these special students he had talked about.
"Is Dad hiding something from me?" Videl wondered.
"Mr. Satan, would you mind naming these students of yours?" A Reporter asked.
"Well…uh…they actually want to remain anonymous. They only want to help the people, and they don't want to be seen as just my students." Hercule lied terribly as the crowd looked at him in silence.
"That makes sense." A random citizen shouted before the crowd roared in agreement.
With Gohan…
The Half Saiyan ducked under one of Hagota's attacks before landing one of his own. Gohan then kneed Hagota in the chin before firing a barrage of Ki blasts right in Hagota's face. In retaliation, the demon grabbed onto Gohan's arm and threw him towards the ground.
As Gohan hit the ground, Hagota threw down a hail of Ki at the boy, causing a large explosion as he decimated the area below. Waiting for the right opportunity, Gohan fired a Kamehameha stopping the blasts and hitting Hagota.
After tearing off part of his upper Gi, Gohan shot up to reengage the demon who used his eye beams to keep Gohan back. The beams zig and zagged, following Gohan wherever he went. He knew that allowing the beams to hit him wouldn't be good.
Every other time they made contact with him, it causes immense pain throughout out his entire body. Knowing that he couldn't just deflect the beams, Gohan got another idea as he flew back towards Hagota with the beams in close pursuit.
Gohan got close to Hagota, who was ready for his approach, having prepared some energy to blast him. However, Gohan flipped over Hagota and grabbed hold of the demon's head, holding him in the path of his own attack.
He attempted to stop the attack, but it was too late as the attacks hit Hagota in the chest and stomach. The pain was so great that the demon fell down to the ground below, leaving Gohan alone in the sky.
"I will end this now!" Gohan declared.
"Ka…me…ha…me…HA!" Gohan shouted as he fired a large blue beam.
As the blue beam came down from above, Hagota opened his eyes and, with a burst of energy, pushed the beam back. Surprised, Gohan avoided his own Kamehameha, but as he did, Hagota got behind him slammed both of his fists into the sides of Gohan's head.
Hagota then kicked Gohan in the spine before blasting him into the ground and sending him far away, breaking the ground as Gohan was pushed by the beam. The demon soon stopped his attack and flew over to where Gohan had been pushed to.
When he got there, he was surprised to see that Gohan was not there. Instead, there was a hole where Gohan's body should have been. Just as he saw that the ground below him had broken apart and Gohan sprang from it, slamming his fist into the demon's stomach before backing off.
"You're strong for a child," Hagota commented as he looked at Gohan.
"I'm not just some ordinary child." Gohan snapped back.
"True, you Saiyans are a marvelous species. Such a shame that there are such few of you left in the world." Hagota replied.
"Your people would have made such good pets compared to these humans," Hagota added.
"Don't insult humanity. After all, I'm half-human." Gohan stated as he attacked Hagota.
Hagota managed to dodge Gohan's first attack, but then Gohan kneed him in the chest. In retaliation, he attempted to punch Gohan in the face. However, the Half Saiyan grabbed Hagota's arm, pushing it away before spinning around to put more force into his attack as he elbowed the demon in the gut.
But Hagota didn't let that go as before Gohan let go, he kneed the boy in the chin. Once Gohan released Hagota's arm, the demon joined his hands and knocked Gohan back towards the ground. Gohan managed to stop his momentum and shot back up to reengage the demon.
When Gohan reached Hagota, the demon threw the first punch, but it fazed right through the fighter. Gohan disappeared and reappeared several times all around the demon. Hagota attacked several of the after images, but every one missed its mark.
"Ka…" Gohan began as he began to charge energy while still moving around.
"…me…" Gohan continued as Hagota flailed around to hit him.
"…ha…" Gohan went on as he put as much energy as he could into his attack.
"…me…" Gohan further chanted as he finished up charging his attack.
"…HA!" Gohan shouted as he fired the blue beam point-blank at Hagota.
The blue beam carried the demon away, flying just over the tree line until it hit the mountain Gohan had shattered the top off of earlier. The mountain exploded in a violent fury until there was nothing left but a crater.
"I doubt that did him in," Gohan murmured as he put his arms back to his side.
His suspicions were proven right when the crater exploded, revealing Hagota, who had taken a good deal of damage from Gohan's attack. However, he did not attempt to go any closer towards Gohan as he floated there and stared at the Half Saiyan.
Suddenly beams once again fired from his eyes and came straight towards Gohan, who flew away from the homing attacks. But this time, Gohan knew how to take care of this attack being to get it to hit something else.
Gohan knew that he could get it to hit Hagota again, but he knew that he could get it to hit at least something else. However, those hopes were dashed when the beams increased speed and maneuvered in front of him before turning and hit Gohan.
The Half Saiyan screamed in pain as the beams hit, and before he could do anything, Hagota fired more and more. Each one hit one after another, each more painful from the last. When the attacks finally ended, Gohan was battered and bruised. His clothes were torn, and he could barely keep himself afloat.
He shook from the sheer pain his body felt from each one of those attacks but clenching his fists and gritting his teeth, Gohan steeled himself for more. But while he did take severe amounts of damage, one thing did come from his beating.
Now Gohan knew how to avoid the attacks as they had a certain pattern to them. Whenever they turned, it was always at a right angle, never a rounded nor sharp turn. So meaning if Gohan was both fast enough and moved the right way, he could always keep one step ahead of the beams.
Taking a deep breath, Gohan steeled himself before he shot right towards Hagota, who fired upon him once more. But Gohan was prepared and moved out of the way and constantly moved and zig-zagged while still going towards Hagota.
Gohan inched closer and closer, and upon seeing this, Hagota stopped his first attack and began another. However, Gohan was prepared this time, moving out of the way and erratic enough to avoid those new beams.
Soon Gohan got close enough that Hagota was forced to stop his beams and use a new attack in an attempt to keep the Saiyan-Hybrid away. But the attacks being such an improvised move did little to stop Gohan.
Finally, Gohan managed to get to Hagota, and the boy charged a Masenko, firing it point-blank at Hagota's eyes to stop any further beams. Hagota screamed in pain as he clutched his eyes, moving away from Gohan.
"You damned brat!" Hagota hissed as he removed his hands, showing his eyes being scared and unusable.
"It's over now. You can neither see me nor hurt me with those beams." Gohan declared as he began his assault.
Gohan punched and kicked Hagota all around his body. First, it was the chest and gut, then the back before, lastly the head. Each time Gohan landed a blow Hagota the demon attempted to retaliate but could not connect to Gohan.
Due to his lack of sight, speed, and life sensory, the demon was unable to even tell where Gohan would come from. Or at least that's what Gohan had thought for when he landed a kick in Hagota's back, the demon spun around and nearly hit Gohan.
The Half Saiyan managed to dodge the attack but just barely. At first, it seemed to just be blind luck, but the next time Gohan went to attack, it happened again. Then again and again until finally, Hagota managed to strike Gohan at his head.
"But how?" Gohan questioned as he spun away.
"It seems like I've got it down now. You won't be able to hit me again." Hagota began.
"I can now tell where you are coming from with sound and feel when you are about to make contact with me." Hagota continued.
"So, boy. Come and face me." Hagota demanded as he didn't even face Gohan.
Gohan didn't move as he thought about his situation and how he should go about this. He knew that at this point, going up to attack him like he had just been doing was out of the option. So to test the grounds, Gohan fired a Kamehameha.
As the blue beam approached Hagota, who was not facing the attack, the demon made a quick turn and knocked the beam away. In retaliation, Hagota fired a beam of his own towards where Gohan's Kamehameha had come from.
The Saiyan-Hybrid had easily avoided the attack and saw that Hagota made no attempt to attack him further. This meant that Hagota would only attack when Gohan did. It was a smart move, for the demon couldn't just fly around in an attempt to catch Gohan.
Hagota would risk running into the terrain and being caught off guard, but this way, Gohan had to attack him. But if Gohan attacked him, then Hagota would know where he was. The demon had trained his senses specifically for this tactic.
Gohan could just leave him there, nor can he actively attack the demon, forcing a standstill between the two warriors. So if that was the case, what should Gohan do next. If he waited too long, then Hagota would no doubt attack by eviscerating everything around them.
"Then, there is only one thing I can do." Gohan thought as he cupped his hands together.
"Ka…" Gohan began as he charged up power to its max once more.
"…me…" Gohan continued as he planned his attack to fire the beam at Hagota to push him back, and hopefully, with as much power he was putting in, it would prevent him from deflecting it.
"…ha…" Gohan went on as he steeled himself for his attack.
"…me…"
"…HA!" Gohan yelled as he fired the beam at Hagota. The demon was quick to react as he fired a beam of his own.
The beams collided, but since Gohan had much more time to charge his attack, it quickly overtook Hagota's. But the demon was unfazed as he floated there and held out his hand to block the attack.
Hagota held back the attack, and while he was unharmed by the attack, it slowly pushed the demon back. Gohan poured more power into his attack in order to continue pushing back the demon.
"An attack like this will not stop me!" Hagota declared as he stuck his left hand inside Gohan's Kamehameha.
The demon proceeded to split the beam apart, stopping Gohan's attack. Or so he thought as Gohan had charged right at him before he split the Kamehameha. Gohan landed a strong blow on the demon's jaw, and before he could respond, Gohan flipped over and kicked Hagota to the ground.
"MASENKO!" Gohan screamed as he fired his attack, causing the ground below to explode.
As the smoke cleared, Hagota was severely injured but still alive, slowly picking himself back up. Gohan shot down and attacked Hagota, who was able to just barely counter. The Saiyan-Hybrid continued his assault, landing a few blows on Hagota.
But the demon was slowly regaining his bearings, beginning to counter many of Gohan's attacks. Though Gohan knew this, he also knew that the same trick he used wouldn't work again. So Gohan had to keep up his assault and beat the demon here and now.
Hagota pushed away an attack by Gohan going in for one of his own, but the Half Saiyan was fast to respond, kneeing Hagota in the gut. Before Hagota could lock up his defense, Gohan fired a blast point-blank, pushing the demon away.
The attack had thrown Hagota off once more, and Gohan too it for all it was worth. Gohan slammed his fist into the demon's gut before jumping up to spin around and kick him twice. In the end, Gohan elbowed Hagota in the cheek before finishing off with a small blast.
"This is tedious," Hagota murmured.
"I see now that you Saiyans aren't just strong but also very resourceful. It would be dangerous to let you live and aid your friend battling Lord Sekai." Hagota stated.
"But I also know that this is as far as I can go. So I will make sure you will never join that battle!" Hagota declared as he surged with energy.
When that happened, Gohan immediately knew what the demon was going to do as memories of Cell's failed kamikaze came to mind. No doubt this was a highly more concentrated form where the entirety of the surrounding area would be wiped out.
Thankfully it wasn't the planet, but it would still do significant damage of which Gohan could not permit. While he couldn't touch the demon physically, an energy attack was another story. While Gohan began charging his Kamehameha, Hagota increased the speed at which he charged.
"Don't think about doing anything. It won't work!" Hagota shouted, hearing the charging Kamehameha.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that because I promised myself after that day…" Gohan began after thinking of his father's sacrifice.
"I WON'T LET ANYONE DIE FOR MY BATTLE!" Gohan screamed as he fired the Kamehameha wave.
The energy dispersed once it made contact with the energy that surrounded Hagota, barely doing anything else. But this didn't stop Gohan as he poured more and more energy into his attack. Soon Hagota was pushed back a mere inch, but then he was moved more and more.
Gohan wasn't going to let it happen. He wasn't going to let another person threaten his home, and with his father gone, it was on him and the rest of the Z Fighters to do so. Not wanting to let his father down as well as the people of Earth, Gohan poured everything he had into the beam.
"NO STOP!" Hagota demanded as he was pushed further and further, now yards at a time.
Before Hagota could desperately detonate himself, the force of the Kamehameha lifted him off the ground. Though he didn't go up in the sky, he was soon propelled into a nearby mountain rolling up the side until he shot straight up into the sky.
Pouring the last remnants of his energy Gohan propelled Hagota into the upper atmosphere as the demon finally reached his breaking point and exploded. The sky erupted into a giant fireball that shook the ground below but left it unharmed.
Smirking, Gohan returned to his base form as he looked at the sky above, which was now clear, showing all of its blue beauty. The Saiyan-Hybrid fell to the ground exhausted until a figure flew above him and landed.
"Nice job, kid but the fights not over." Yamcha complimented as he handed Gohan a Senzu.
"Thanks." Gohan thanked as he ate the bean.
"If what I'm sensing is right, then there is only one left," Gohan stated as he returned to Super Saiyan 2.
"Yeah, let's finish this!" Yamcha smiled as he and Gohan shot off towards where Jason and Sekai were fighting.
"We need to get there fast. If what I'm sensing is right, then Jason needs help." Gohan thought as he flew at full speed, leaving Yamcha in the dust.
"Yeah, just leave me behind. I'm used to it." Yamcha sighed as he sped after Gohan.
With Jason…
Jason laid on a floating piece of ice in the ocean, battered and beaten in his base form as Sekai floated high above him in the sky. The Saiyan was barely clinging to consciousness as Sekai's laugh echoed throughout the area.
"You put up a valiant fight, Jason, but this is where it ends." Sekai declared as he raised his staff in the air.
"Just so you know, it's nothing personal I honestly couldn't have cared less about you killing my brother. But I can't let strong warriors like yourself survive." Sekai stated.
A giant ball of energy soon formed at the tip of the demon's staff that slowly melted the icebergs that surrounded them. Jason attempted to move, but his body was in too much pain to move. He was a sitting duck, and all he could do was wait for Sekai's attack.
"Farewell," Sekai said as he commanded the ball to hit Jason.
Gohan wins his battle by preventing another incident like Cell's kamikaze, leaving Sekai as the last demon on Earth! However, it seems that Jason was unable to defeat the demon as he lays on the precipice of defeat. How did he end up like this? And will our hero survive? Find out Next Time!
Author's Note:
Hey guys, sorry for the wait, but I'm back just before Frieza Day and the New Year! Wait…uh, I meant Christmas! Yes…that…totally meant to say that…anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter.
Again sorry it took so long to get out, but I had major writer's block and burnout when I wrote the fight scene to where I wrote the last chapter for the first what-if first. Fight scenes are the hardest for me to write recently, not because I can't think of scenarios, it's because I find it hard to not make it repetitive.
That and making the chapter long enough, which for me is a minimum of five thousand words, it took me a while to make this. Hell, I added the whole Mr. Satan joke so that I could take a small break from writing a fight scene and so that I could make this chapter a little longer.
I also just wanted a little reaction of the populous about the current events, and of course, they would need to go to the famous Mr. Satan. And in classic Mr. Satan style, he takes credit for everyone else's hard work XD!
Next chapter will obviously take time to be made. Hopefully, it will be faster than this one, but I can't make any promises as I am also writing my other stories. But before I go, I want to talk about a funny review that was left last chapter.
If you didn't notice, somebody was either trying to be funny or genuinely didn't read my story, but they asked if the story even remotely connected to RWBY. I mean, that's just really funny to me because just how?!
Anyway, I don't want to rant about it; I just wanted to point it out and that I think I am finally going to start responding to reviews. The only reason I never did so before was because I thought the rules didn't permit it.
But since I see most other writers doing it, I think I am in the clear. Since the only two reviews were a nice comment and that dumb nonsense review, all I have to say to those is thanks and excuse me?!
But for all the people who have constantly been reviewing this story since it started, and for a while now, thanks a lot! I really appreciate all the reviews, even the criticism (When they are warranted and they make sense). It makes me really happy to see that so many are enjoying my story.
Especially now that the story is nearing 200 follows and getting closer to 200 favs! I'm really excited about that. Either way, once more, I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, and I'll see you next time!
