Chapter Three

Ten years later...

After my change back to human, I decided to go to college and earn my first degree as a human. Ironically, I could not stand blood as a human. So I became a lawyer like my real father was over a hundred years ago. Bella was happy for me to follow my dreams in Seattle, where I attended law school. Some of it online from our home in Forks.

Carlisle started having issues with blood as well. That seemed to be a side effect of the change back. Some amounts of blood were okay, but we could not deal with surgery. Carlisle became a teacher—teaching medical students. It was the best of both worlds. He was still saving lives by teaching students his hundreds of years of experience. The Forks Community Hospital became a teaching hospital once he agreed to stay on to teach. He teaches a couple nursing courses and doctors courses through the hospital. It is great because more bodies are always in the hospital and the bodies enjoy the break from the big hospitals they worked in at Seattle and making some doctors rethink their plans for the big cities for a smaller town hospital.

Forks will never have a hiring problem as long as they have this program.

Carlisle and Esme debated changing their last name but decided against it. He has been Carlisle Cullen for nearly four hundred years. The change was hard.

They had three kids, two boys and a girl. Richard came first, then three years later Franklin. Esme had wanted a daughter, so they adopted little Madeline. Esme missed the son from her former human life and thought of him often, but had the peace that someday she would get to see her little Noah again. And he would be perfect.

Rosalie and Emmett McCarty opened an auto repair shop to compete with Downings. Not that it took much to make him go under; he really screwed the town with his prices. Emmett and Rosalie went to his former last name when they married as humans. It made Rosalie happy to have the chance for a human honeymoon and the chance for babies. Even if they could not have babies, they proactively got on the adoption list.

They adopted a little girl named Lily Rose and became pregnant the month afterward. They had another daughter, Lucy Rena, nine months later. Two years later, they had Evan Dale. They adopted a little boy two years after Evan, Ezra Deon.

Alice and Jasper Whitlock began the boutique she saw in Seattle that became very popular. Thanks to her oversight, she was able to have clothes for the next ten years waiting in a climate-controlled warehouse. They were all one of a kind pieces, which made them more fun and collectible. Ali Cat's Creations was on the map and brought people to Seattle to start their own lines. It was amazing to see what Alice was able to create, not only for herself but for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

They have a daughter who stole Bella's middle name in appreciation of their new life. Delilah Marie is crazy like her mother. It is the funniest thing to watch. Poor Jasper.

As for me and my Love, we got married after I became human and I adopted Sadie and Liam, but we didn't change their last name. When they are older, if they choose to, they can be Masen's like their mom and me.

Bella kept Jacob's last name for the kids' sake. She is now Bella Black-Masen. I am comfortable enough with our marriage that it doesn't bother me. Sadie and Liam need their heritage from the Quileute Tribe and it makes me proud that they have it.

As for our children, we had our Theodore Carlisle shortly after we married. He is such the spitting image of me, it's not even funny. I have very few pictures from my childhood, but the ones that I do have—he is my twin. Except for his nose. That is all Charlie Swan. He acts just like me. Theo loves playing different instruments: piano, guitar, and drums. I am sure he will learn more as he gets older.

After Theo, we had our second son, Gabriel Jacob. I needed her former husband to be honored because he kept her safe while I did not. It made Bella cry happy tears when I suggested Jacob as Gabe's middle name. He is all Bella. Her hair and eyes, the love of reading, and her blush. He has my smirk though. Of all the things he could get.

As much as I hate the thought of sharing my heart with another girl than the two I already had, one more came into my life just like the vision showed. Not that I would change her for the world.

She is the perfect combination of my Love and I. My crazy hair and my Bella's eyes. She loves music and reading and has everyone she meets eating out of her hand within minutes.

My little Esmerie Elizabeth. Named in honor of her grandmothers' and mother. My perfect princess completes our family. The family that I never thought I would have.

But I am grateful every day for them.

Looking at the picture in front of me, it is exactly as I saw in the vision Alice had.

While Embry had imprinted on Sadie, a newer wolf named Colton imprinted on Esmerie. She was only a few days old. I wanted to kill him but knew from my experience with Embry that Colton would never hurt her.

Or this daddy would kill him.

Sadie is riding Wolf-Embry, Liam is in his wolf form trying to get Embry to make Sadie fall. Which Embry won't.

Esmerie is picking wildflowers with Colton, making him hold them.

Theo and Gabe are chasing Bella and she is singing "You Are My Sunshine."

My heart is full of love and happiness.

Even fuller knowing I know something Bella doesn't. We have been thinking about adopting a baby. Not too hard, but if a baby comes along, we are ready for it.

Today I got a call for a set of twins. A boy and a girl at the hospital in Forks.

Their mother died in a car accident and had no other family that could or would take them.

I was debating if we were ready for two more. I went to the hospital and got any information that I could get. They were healthy despite being born five weeks early, but should be clear to come home in a few weeks.

I saw them and knew they were meant for my family. I just needed to sell Bella on it. And hope she wasn't pissed I already saw them.

I walked over to my Love and kissed her head. She looked up at me and smiled.

"While I know Liam and Sadie miss Jacob, and I do too, I am grateful that I did not miss this. Thank you for saving me. For making my family complete."

I wrap my arms around her.

"My Love, like I would want to be anywhere else. I am home with you in my arms. With our family."

She gives me a sweet kiss and stops when a wet nose interrupts us. Liam. I laugh as he barks, asking to see his Grandpa Charlie.

I laugh because this was exactly what I saw ten years ago.

"Liam, we can visit Grandpa Charlie. I have something to talk to Mom about anyway. Maybe he could watch the gang for an hour?" I look at Bella and she laughs.

"I am sure he would love to watch them. Let's go, everyone!"

And with that, we all packed into the cars we brought and went to Charlie's.

Thankfully, he already knew what I was doing since he knew about the twins. He met them and told me they were his last grandkids. Meddling man he is. He shooed us off, and I brought her to the hospital and asked to see the babies.

Carlisle was there. He was next on the list of adoptees but did not want to get Esme involved. He knew that one way or another, he was getting two new babies in the family, which made him happy.

"You here to see the babies?" Carlisle asks me.

Bella looks shocked.

I can only nod. He brings us to their cots and explains what is going on with each of them.

The girl is stronger than the boy, but not by much. They are both working on eating by mouth, which she is slightly better at it than he is.

When Bella saw them, it was love at first sight. She was in tears and quietly yelled at me for keeping them from her and seeing them without her. She then began to rattle off names.

I asked Carlisle what their parents' names were. Carlisle told me Riley Biers was the father and Bree Tanner was the mother. Riley died in the same car accident that took Bree.

And so we added Brennan Thomas and Riley Bethany Masen to the family. Making us finally complete.

Thankfully, within two weeks of meeting them, they were home and getting spoiled by all that met them. Including a new imprint. This time, Sam and Emily Uley's son, Jake, to our Riley.

I really am tired of the supernatural around me.

But I guess I would not have it any other way.
