Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. Guessing who hasn't written anything in the past week...? Me so that is my main focus for this week. I really do love writing and it's a shame that I haven't done as much of it as I know I can do. I've also been having a declutter in my room. That's always good isn't it? Anyway I'm hoping to get my Christmas Tree up this month... little early but it seems a lot of people are getting them up as well. I'm currently listening to the Junior Eurovision album and the Christmas album from Maghan Trainor so hopefully that'll help with the writing. Enjoy the update!
Stay safe.
Lots of love,
LM xx
Breaking Traditions-Part 33:
Lucius and Narcissa had arrived back late after they'd been out for a meal afterwards. The three parents had decided to leave them alone as they had a lot to think about and knew that the couple would ask to see them when they wanted to; forcing the issue would only make it worse and that really wasn't what was needed.
"Yes we had a good visit with the baby but we must not allow ourselves to get too carried away," Lucius told Narcissa as they laid in the bath together, "no matter how much we both hope there will be a positive result…"
"She is Rosalie Luc. It will be hard but I believe she is our daughter and eventually she will come home and be so loved and cherished by everyone that nobody will remember she was adopted," Narcissa said softly, "they will see her as a Malfoy… as ours." It was in that moment that Lucius realized that Narcissa was already attached to the baby but they wouldn't have been allowed to meet the little one if there was a chance that it wouldn't work out.
The three parents were all dining together when an elf came to say that Lucius and Narcissa were having breakfast in the Gardens and would have them for morning tea at 10:30am. That caused the three to look at each other and nodding as they knew exactly what it was about and they were desperate to know. The fact that they hadn't heard anything was worrying them.
The allotted time couldn't come fast enough and at 10:30 on the nose Cygnus, Priscilla and Abraxas headed out to where Lucius and Narcissa were sat. The first thing they noticed was the lack of tears from either one; that surely had to be a good sign.
"First of all we're sorry for remaining silent on the events of yesterday but it was a lot to process and we needed time and space to ourselves so we could discuss things," Lucius said as he had an arm wrapped around Narcissa's waist.
"That's understandable," Priscilla said, "we have been wondering but I knew you'd come to us when you were ready," she said smiling at them, "what did happen?"
"The baby is barely feeding," Narcissa said, "they can't get her to latch onto bottles properly. The little one is so unsettled and her cry of hunger broke me yesterday. Motherly instincts took over and I did the skin-to-skin contact like I did with Draco and I managed to get her to have a bottle. It was the first time she'd had a decent amount in the week she's been at the orphanage."
"Well that is all well but one successful visit doesn't prove that the baby is right for you," Abraxas said as he looked at the couple, "you would need to have more visits and I know there is something about a home visit as well."
"Yes," Lucius nodded, "we are heading back to the orphanage tomorrow. I will be more hands on so we need to make sure that the baby can attach to me as well. I wasn't around as much as I should have been with Draco but I won't let that be the case with our daughter when she arrives."
"I think it's safe to say that our son has learnt a lesson," Priscilla said to Abraxas who nodded at his wife before listening as she spoke again, "more visits are needed for sure and if I know you two then you already have one planned."
"Yes we are going again tomorrow and will probably go every couple of days until a decision is reached because we really need to get a bond with the baby so this can work," Lucius said, "we both believe that it will be we need to keep working at it."
"I am proud of the way that you are handling this," Priscilla said, "I know that you both want this to work as we do but you're also holding back on speeding things up. I know that Lucius sped up the process to getting a match but now you are both going about this in the correct manner and that is something that we are all overjoyed to see."
"We are both trying not to get our hopes up but we both want this to work out as well," Narcissa said, "the thing is we are starting to think it will already. We both know that it's dangerous but we can't help but think that as well," she sighed before feeling Lucius squeezing her hand gently.
"Yes. This is where it gets the most dangerous to think too far ahead and also Druella cannot be allowed to find out anything," Cygnus said, "I know her permissions to enter here have to be authorized now…" Lucius nodded,
"Yes and we apparate into the alley at the back of the orphanage and head straight inside so nobody sees us," he explained, "we really do not need the baby going missing or something happening because Druella figures things out."
"Is she really capable of hurting an innocent baby?" Abraxas asked.
"When my mother wants to hurt someone it doesn't matter what she has to do," Narcissa said, "if anything she'd get the baby adopted so Lucius and I would lose her but she wouldn't hurt an innocent child, especially a Pureblood child."
Silence fell on the group as they sipped their teas and then thought about everything that had been discussed. Priscilla watched the couple and could see that this had brought them closer together and she was grateful for it. The witch was the first to realise that Lucius and Narcissa were better matched than Lucius with either of the other Black sisters and it had soon been agreed upon.
"Anyway would you like to come and see the horses?" Lucius asked after a while. He knew that his mother loved the horses and the group soon agreed and headed down to the Malfoy Stables. Narcissa had also been making her mark on them and had been wanting Priscilla to see the final look for ages. They all took a scenic walk through the Gardens before finally reaching the Stables, each silently hoping that maybe, just maybe the baby girl was a match.
