AN: Good morning everyone and happy Thursday. This is the second day in a row that I've updated and I hope you love it as much as I do. Hope your lives are going well and everyone is staying safe. You can thank Harry Potter audio books for these chapters, I've been listening to them when I have free time. Anyways today is October 15, 2020 and this is the first chapter today. Anything you recognize is JK Rowling's and anything you don't is mine.
Hermione POV
Ginny, Luna, and I ended up barely speaking the next couple of days. Both girls wanted to know everything that had been going on with Remus, not wanting to speak about their own lives or Harry and Ron, but I had almost no time to spend with them. I was doing everything I could, with help from Ron, to teach Harry how to properly do a summoning charm.
At lunch on Monday Harry had come running into the Great Hall, grabbed Ron and my hands, and pulled us out into the entrance way rambling about summoning charms.
"Hermione, I need to learn how to do a Summoning Charm properly by tomorrow afternoon. Or I'll probably die a very brutal death."
"Are you bloody mental?" Ron asked, his eyes bugging.
I ignored him and started towards the empty classroom we had gone to yesterday. Harry tried to make various objects fly across the room toward him. He was still having problems. The books and quills kept losing heart halfway across the room and dropping hike stones to the floor.
"Concentrate, Harry, concentrate. . . ." I said softly, picking up A History of Magic off the floor.
"What d'you think I'm trying to do?" Harry said angrily, his eyes flashing. "A great big dragon keeps popping up in my head for some reason..." Ron roared with laughter but Harry and I ignored him. "Okay, try again. . . ."
We tried again for another ten minutes but I finally said I had to get going or I would be late for Arithmancy. Harry and Ron wanted to keep working and skip Divination.
"You two can keep working but I will not skip class." I said with finality and quickly left the room. Ginny was standing outside the room but I told her I couldn't talk right then., she had a free period.
The halls were almost empty as I ran up flight after flight of stairs. I was panting heavily as I landed on the seventh floor. Thankfully the classroom door was still open. I barely made it through when it magically slammed shut. Professor Vector came striding out of a door at the front of the room, tapped her wand against the blackboard, and said we had to figure out the answer to the Arithmancy problem on the board.
An hour later my head was pounding and I was eating my dinner as fast as I could in the Great Hall. As I ate I thought about Remus and the fact that I would be seeing him the next day for the first Tri-Wizard task.. A smile crossed my face.
"Whatever you're thinking about, knock it off!" Ginny hissed, throwing a hair binder at me. I quickly tied back my hair. Bloody hell my hair had been fluttering around me again.
"Hermione!" Harry called from the entryway with Ron. I jumped up and quickly followed them back to the empty classroom.
Harry, Ron, and I kept practicing until past midnight. We would have stayed longer, but Peeves turned up and, pretending to think that Harry wanted things thrown at him, started
chucking chairs across the room. Harry, Ron, and I left in a hurry before the noise attracted Filch, and went back to the Gryffindor common room, which was now mercifully empty.
"Bloody, stupid, poltergeist." Ron growled pulling pieces of glass out of his hair. Harry ran his hand through his hair and cursed when he cut himself.
"Here let me help you two." I said deftly plucking out pieces of glass, one after another. We started up again as soon as I got the glass out.
At two o'clock in the morning, Harry stood near the fireplace, surrounded by heaps of objects: books, quills, several upturned chairs, an old set of Gobstones, and Neville's toad, Trevor. Only in the last hour had Harry really got the hang of the Summoning Charm.
"That's better, Harry, that's loads better," Ron said, looking exhausted but very pleased. I had no idea why he looked so pleased with himself, he could barely do the spell himself.
"Well, now we know what to do next time I can't manage a spell," Harry said, throwing a rune dictionary back at me, so he could try again, "threaten me with a dragon. Right..." He raised his wand once more. "Accio Dictionary!"
The heavy book soared out of my hand, flew across the room, and Harry caught it.
"Harry, I really think you've got it!" I said delightedly.
"Just as long as it works tomorrow," Ron said, a dark look crossing his face. "The Firebolt's going to be much farther away than the stuff in here, it's going to be in the castle, and you're going to be out there on the grounds. . . ."
"Thanks Ron." Harry muttered, blowing out a heavy breath.
"That doesn't matter," I said firmly before the two of them could start fighting again." Just as long as you're concentrating really, really hard on it, it'll come. Harry, we'd better get some sleep.. . you're going to need it."
I sleepily made my way up to the girl's dormitory but froze when I reached the top. Ginny was leaning against the wall, her arms crossed.
"Took you guys long enough." My eyes bugged and I had to hold onto the railing to keep myself from falling.
"Sheesh, don't scare me like that!" I yelped.
"Sorry, I just wanted to make sure you wouldn't get away this time." Ginny said softly.
"What is it you want to know so badly about Remus and I?" I asked, pulling on one of my curls. "I could tell you didn't want to say it around Luna."
Ginny flushed so brightly she looked like a tomato. "How do you know when it's the right time to tell someone you love them?"
My eyes bugged and I stood frozen for a moment. "Why are you asking me?"
"Because you love Remus. I can see it in every interaction you have with him. He moves, you move. You light up like a fairy every time he's around. He listens to what you have to say and you him. You blush and get fidgety when he looks at you for a long time. I want what you have and I think I found it in Neville."
