A/N: The Deeks hair saga continues.
Deeks, what the hell is that?" Sam asked as he came into the bullpen. His expression was a mixture of amusement and vague horror. Deeks continue opening the pile of mail in front of him without looking up.
"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about," he replied, slicing open an envelope with undue force.
"I can't believe you actually braided your hair," Callen said, getting right to the point. He seemed delighted and went so far as to reach out to touch the slightly lopsided braid. Deeks batted his hand away irritably and moved his chair over a few inches to prevent further touching.
Kensi, who was leaning against the edge of his desk, patted his shoulder consolingly.
"I, in fact, did not braid my hair," Deeks said with a great amount of dignity for a man wearing sparkly hair bands.
"Oh, please tell me Kensi didn't do it," Sam begged.
"I did not," Kensi said firmly, barely containing a smirk. Deeks cleared his throat noisily, finally looking up them all with a long-suffering expression.
"If you must know, one of Kensi's friends brought her six year old daughter to dinner last night. She very kindly asked if she could try out her new princess hair kit on me. Who was I to deny her?"
"Because trying it out on Kensi or her mom was out of the question," Callen said reasonably.
"Well that's sexist," Kensi commented idly.
"Apparently she likes blondes." Sam just shook his head. He kept chuckling every time he looked at Deeks.
"That still doesn't explain why you haven't taken the braid out yet," Callen pointed out, crossing his arms as he waited for an explanation. Sighing deeply, Deeks reluctantly admitted,
"I promised Lizzy I wouldn't take it out until tomorrow."
"You know she has no way of checking up on you, right? I mean, at the very least you could have gotten rid of the shiny barrette," Sam pointed out.
"I'm a man of my word." Deeks assumed a superior expression and Kensi rolled her eyes.
"There's also the fact that you were worried you were going to yank out half your hair if you did it yourself and I was at the gym this morning."
"That too."
"Well, if nothing else, this proves you need a haircut, Deeks," Sam said.
"Minus, the barrettes and hairbands, I don't think I look half bad," Deeks said, looking thoughtful. "I've been considering trying out a man bun." Next to him, Kensi made a horrified expression.
"You do and I'll chop it off myself," Sam threatened darkly.
"What about a mullet?"
"Oh god no," Kensi said loudly, shaking her head as though to erase the mental image.
"You got a fancy new hairdo, I don't see why I can't do something nice with mine," Deeks said innocently.
"What about a side shave?" Callen suggested helpfully.
"Don't give him ideas," Kensi warned him, raising a finger threateningly. Callen, wisely, listened, settling back in his chair as Deeks continued to suggest more horrifying hair modifications.
