Evening everyone! Some of you have left some lovely comments so thank you, especially to chloe-darvey (I appreciate all of the comments of course, but I only had one name!). I have lots of this written in advance, so enjoy this chapter! Also, if you have any criticisms to make, please give me ways to improve because I want to make this good for you guys!
'Louis, it's me,' Harvey spoke on the phone in his familiar business-like tone, 'I need you to get the police down to the alley behind Stefano's place. Yes, the pizza restaurant Louis, I know where she is. Do it now.' He disconnected the call and sprinted down the street, knowing he wasn't far from Donna.
The first thing he saw was her propped up against the wall, a dark figure leaning over her with a knife. The first thing he heard was her scream as it was plunged into her chest. The first thing he did was throw himself at whoever had dared to hurt the woman he was supposed to spend the rest of his life with.
'Get off her!' he growled as the pair went tumbling to the side. Harvey's first flew into Jackson's face, and even though he was bigger and stronger, Harvey had pure rage in his favour. Donna lay motionless on the ground, blood pouring from her chest and side.
'NYPD, nobody move!' voices called from behind Harvey. He barely registered them though: he was going to make this man pay for what he had done to Donna.
'NYPD NOBODY MOVE!' the police shouted, more forcefully this time, 'AND SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE QUICKLY.'
That snapped Harvey out of his rage, sensed by Jackson who shifted his weight and turned sharply, pinning Harvey against the wall. He looked over at his wife, feeling like his heart was shattering as he saw how pale she was, how much blood she'd lost. One policeman was kneeling down next to her with a phone next to his ear, presumably calling an ambulance.
'Drop the case, Harvey,' Jackson warned, 'and all of this can go away.'
'What can you possibly do if I don't?' he challenged. Jackson just laughed.
Without warning, a shot fired out and Harvey felt the weight of the other man against him as he crumpled. He threw Jackson's limp body away and ran towards Donna, shoving policemen out of his way.
'Sir-' one tried, but Harvey kept going. Once he reached her, he knelt down and grabbed her hand. Now he was up close, he could see the extent of what Jackson had done to her. Her face had lost all colour, drained out of her from the exhaustion, fear and blood loss. Her ankle had swollen to twice its normal size and he felt sick at the sight of the blood soaked scarf around her waist. Already, her arms, neck, face and chest were discoloured with purple bruises and small cuts. Her royal blue dress was ripped and her pink coat with the fluffy cuffs that Harvey loved so much lay discarded on the ground.
Tears pricked in his eyes as the ambulance arrived, sirens screaming and lights flashing. Everything seemed to blur into one as the paramedics swarmed Donna in slow motion. Harvey thought they might have been trying to talk to him, ask him questions, but he couldn't understand what they were asking him. One woman tried to treat his split lip from his fight, but he pushed her off. He didn't need their help, Donna did. The only thing that could snap him out of his daze was the gasp of pain that escaped from Donna's lips as she opened her eyes, which were filled with agony and fear.
'Donna,' he breathed as he tightened his grip on her hand with one of his and reached for her face with the other. His heart melted as she winced at his touch and he saw the panic-stricken look on her face.
'Hey, Donna, it's ok. I've got you and you're gonna be fine,' he soothed, 'Donna, breathe.'
Her eyes widened and it became apparent to Harvey that she couldn't breathe.
'Hemothorax, we've got to get her in now,' one of the paramedics decided. They gave Donna some painkillers and an oxygen mask before lifting her onto a stretcher and taking her into the ambulance. Harvey jumped in after her, determined not to lose her.
