Reason

Her nervous gestures caught his eyes; the way her fingers tangled together, the way her tongue would dart out to wet her lips. She was so pale, so much more than the night he had last seen her. He itched to know what she was doing here, who she was, how she had known his Rin. So he demanded her name and her eyes darkened. His sensitive ears heard the quickening of her heart before she dropped her eyes. Impatiently, he waited, squashing the urge to shake her and demand answers.

This was it, she thought, his question ringing in her ears. He would recognize the name and then everything would go to hell; there would be no salvaging the situation. Licking her lips and forcing herself to meet his eyes again, she lifted her chin defiantly. "My name is Kagome Higurashi," she said clearly, clenching her tangled fingers even tighter together, "But it used to be Kagome…Touzuko."

For one instant, the name was unfamiliar but the minute the mystery of it clear in his mind, Sesshoumaru saw red. Literally, his eyes began to bleed red and he was tempted to kill her where she sat. Memories of that horrible, horrible night played before his eyes. Two humans, both dark haired and pale skinned, both unconscious. One adult, one child. One alive, one dead. Two male youkai and a female, all uninjured. Touzuko, the driver of the car that had crushed his daughter. Touzuko, who escaped charges of vehicular homicide. Touzuko, Touzuko, Touzuko.

"You will provide this Sesshoumaru with a very good reason to allow you to leave this place unharmed," he snarled softly, for her ears only. His heart throbbed, his claws lengthened and he wanted nothing more than her blood on his hands, for the life she had helped take, for the innocent taken from him, for the justice never dealt. His power rose up unwaveringly around him, the binds he so carefully placed each morning falling awaay with ease. He smothered her with it.
