Here is the next chapter. In this chapter I wished to delve a little more into the life of Severus Snape as I feel we never hear anything much of interest about him. Lindsay Snape is a character I created for this story and is not cannon so this is just a heads up for those who might say she wasn't in the original story. Please enjoy it and read and review love Hannah xxx

He entered the building heading towards the room he needed. "Severus how may I help you this time?" she asked him raising her eyebrows in mild annoyance.

"Lindsay I know I usually come here to ask you to ignore something I've either done or am about to do but today I'm actually here for a second opinion about something" he said as she looked at him in surprise. She ushered him in and poured him a cup of tea. He handed her a parchment which she read her eyebrows raising high indeed.

"Severus I don't think I need to tell you how extremely illegal this is. I cannot permit you to have it!" she said as he sighed.

"Yes well I don't want or need it. A student at the school was given this potion to give someone she knew but before she could she was attacked and it was stolen and then given to the wrong person. The person in question is being treated in the hospital wing and will be fine thank Merlin!" he said as listened intently.

"Who gave her that, you? Severus I can't keep covering for you and the things you sometimes do every few years or so!" she snapped sounding extremely tired.

"Ok no it wasn't me. Albus Dumbledore himself gave the girl the potion to give to someone else but the thing I need a second opinion on is where would he even buy this? Look I've been a potions master for ages and I can think of no place one would buy this except the bowels of Knockturn Alley. For reasons he steadfastly refuses to go into Albus will never set foot in Knockturn Alley so I am trying to find out where he would have bought it and also would he have known it was so illegal?" he asked as she gasped dropping her teacup in shock. He quickly used wandless magic to prevent it from breaking and lead it back to her saucer neatly. Some of the remaining tea inside had sloshed onto her lap but he wandlessly dried her up in a few moments.

"Thank you for that Severus. As the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot I am ashamed to say he himself is the one who drafted the law explaining why it was so dangerous. That he readily gave some to someone else suggests one of two things. Either he knows someone dodgy who can procure it for him quickly and quietly or he made it. Do you know anyone who might get it for him if asked?" she questioned as he thought deeply.

"You know what Lindsay I do. Mundungus Fletcher has always been a sneaky terrified petty thief and criminal. He'd do anything Albus asked him to because he's too weak to say no and besides which he'd be too scared to say no!" he said as she stood up so fast her chair fell onto the floor.

"Stay here now and I will summon him here. He will answer questions about this under truth serum. We know all about his shady dealings. Anything for a quick galleon with him. We'll trick him into giving us a confession don't you worry!" she said leaving as he wondered what would happen now. Mundungus was summoned and tricked into drinking some truth serum infused tea. Suffice it to say he sung like a canary telling them everything Albus had ever asked him to do but buying this potion was nowhere on the list of things he'd mentioned. His mind was wiped and he was released once more feeling tired and as though he'd need a nap but would be fine. When she returned to Severus she was pale and shaking.

"Severus he sung like a canary. He didn't buy the potion for Albus. No, what he did was much, much worse. He bought him the ingredients to brew it in very large doses but this was in the eighties so not recent. The annoying thing though is that Mundungus just did it because Albus was the one who told him to. He doesn't even know these are the ingredients to that potion. When we asked him about the potion he asked us what it even was. You know how harrowing the ingredient list for that is. I mean one of them is a pint of virgin blood!" she snapped irritated as he paled considerably and summoned them both some firewhiskey and two tumblers.

Lindsay was his sister and a Ravenclaw in school who had rebelled against her brother for being involved with the dark side. She was pissed off he'd been so naïve in his youth genuinely believing that Tom Marvolo Riddle needed a potions master in his ranks and wouldn't make him do anything bad or become a death eater. More fool him I guess. Eileen Snape hadn't helped matters with being a useless sack of shit at home that just took abuse from Tobias without ever once raising her wand to the fool until such a time as Lindsay couldn't cope and called a house elf to bring a briefcase with a boggart in it and forced him to see his worst fears. She'd been more intelligent than her twin brother Severus and had seen justice for her mother. Now from time to time she was asked to help out Severus when he had done something illegal in his role as a death eater spy. She loved her brother so much but sometimes he really was a handful and she did resent him. When he had started dating Poppy Pomfrey she was delighted for him as she felt it would give him some stability in his life for once. Poppy was like his healthy anchor and she loved her for it.

Lindsay worked for the Magical Council which was much like the MI5 of muggle London. She was tasked with regulating all crimes and passing them onto the DMLE where necessary. She would only do so if the crime was a simple one. Where it was a dangerous crime such as some of the things Tom Marvolo Riddle had asked her twin brother to do she would investigate it solely and at times cover for him. She loved her brother and they'd had such a hard childhood she could never see him hard done by. Sometimes it did get exasperating always batting for her brother but sometimes such as today he came and saw her for reasons not relating to him which was such a relief.

"Ok Sev I know how you work and so having said that I will need to ask you how you know that Albus Dumbledore gave this to a student!" she said suspiciously.

"Ok but Linds this can't go anywhere else. I will show you a memory in your pensive as this is how I found out about it!" he said showing her Poppy's memory he'd seen himself not moments earlier that very day. She viewed the memory of everything Poppy had discovered on her own coupled with what Albus himself had said.

"Severus I will need to contact a colleague over at the ICW to call Albus over about anything they think of for a few days. I will send a specialist in to freeze the portraits and thoroughly search his office for contraband. As you know we are very skilled in being quick, quiet and thorough. I must go now and prepare but I will see you for dinner on Sunday in the Royal Oak. Love you!" she said kissing his cheek and hugging him as he left to return to school and tell Poppy what to expect in the next few days. It would certainly be interesting.
