Highway To Healing
Chapter 3:
A new minister and family moved into the Church parsonage about a month ago. He is a graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois. Ron and Nancy Bartholomew are now Pastor and first lady of the Church the Roberts family are members of.
Pastor Bartholomew is Fundamental in his doctrine but always preachs with fire and compassion, mostly compassion. The Church knew he loved them so they accepted the new Pastor right off.
Pastor Bartholomew got to know the needs of the flock right off and the Roberts family is of importance to the Pastor.
Today being Sunday the Roberts family are in Church.
All last night the Pastor couldn't sleep. It was a night of restlessness, he was troubled in spirit he knew that the Sunday sermon must 'hit the nail right in the head' but what was it to be?Pastor Bartholomew dozed off at his home office desk with his Bible open to John 10:10b which reads, "I am come that they might have life and that they might. have it more abundantly,'' He saw a vision of light, than a man with a full head of hair in a brown leather jacket come to him and nodded his head up and down three times as if to say, "Yes Ron, yes." The pastor awoke and read that verse again and was reassured to him that it should be the Sunday message.
Pastor Bartholomew preached a sermon from that text in John 10:10b. As he preached he noticed Jonathan sitting with Mark and the Roberts family and knew that Jonathan was the one who came to him in a dream.
Jonathan and Mark fade it out of the Church because they didn't want any attention from the Pastor so he would focus on the Roberts family only.
At the end of the message Pastor Bartholomew approaches the Roberts family and says, "Mr. Roberts, I know you're blind condition and I know something horrible caused it but I don't know what, however I do know a Doctor, Dr. James Johnston at the University of Chicago Hospital. He's an eye specialist and has had great success. You would be a perfect candidate for him to operate on. It's like my message today, (he weeps) you can have an abundant life again. I know he can help you. My sermon today came down from God to you. Please let's arrange an operation for you."
The Roberts family is weeping also. They embrace each other. Man, wife and son.
Susan says, "Richard, Honey."
Bobby blows his nose and says to the Pastor, "You sure about this? My dad can see again? He can work again?"
The Pastor answers, "Yes sir, Yes God spoke to me and assured me He can. That man Jonathan he's an Angel isn't he?"
Richard speaks and says, "Yes but how did you know?
The Pastor says, "I saw him and that other fellow disappear. At first I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but then I remembered the dream he has to be an Angel."
Richard replies, "You're right these two helped our family 4 years ago they said their assignment was to give us another hope from Heaven. God has used you to be that other hope from Heaven."
The Pastor responds, "Amen."
It is arranged for Richard to go to the University of Chicago Hospital. Since Bobby had work to do he couldn't go. Susan couldn't leave Bobby at the house alone.
The Pastor 'found' Jonathan and Mark in his office Monday morning they would take Richard to Chicago. They go to the Richards home and take Richard to Chicago.
The operation is set for Tuesday and when the Doctor is finished the operation the Dr. comes out to Jonathan and Mark who are in the waiting room and says, "Richard is resting peacefully."
A few minutes later Richard awakens and calls out for Jonathan and Mark. Jonathan is near, Mark is halfway down the hall returning with a cup of coffee. Jonathan says, "I'm here, Richard."
Richard grabs Jonathan and says, "Jonathan, Jonathan I can see! I can see! Wait till the wife hears about this!"
Jonathan, Richard and Mark all bust out laughing.
After they get themselves together and stop laughing Jonathan and Mark show Richard that they are both pleased and happy that he can see by Jonathan saying "You and your family have a new hope from Heaven."
Mark says, "God is good!"
Richard agrees by saying, "Yes, now maybe I can get back to work and provide for my family like I did before."
Will Richard find work?
