Epilogue #2

The girl sat alone on the swing. The lone occupant of the playground. She looked down at her feet then pushed off, sending her body flying backwards. Though it wasn't real flying, it was the closest a human could get. She leaned back and straightened her legs once she had reached the peak of her backwards ascension, sending her plummeting back towards the ground and up again. She closed her eyes and lifted her face to the sun. Her chocolate hair streaming out behind her, catching the late afternoon rays. Her stomach flipped as her arch reversed its direction and although the seventeen year old had experienced the thrill of travelling through the Etheric plane, it was a sensation that always delighted her. Suddenly a shadow fell across her and she dropped her feet, halting her movement. She remained seated but looked at the newcomer.

"It's done." He said. "Mom fought it."

"I'd be more surprised if she didn't." Isolde said.

"She immediately cornered Michael, demanding he take her as his vessel." He informed his older sister as he sat in the swing beside her.

"And Michael...?"

Tristan dropped his head.

"He accepted."

A shiver ran through her body. Going into battle against the fallen Archangel with her beloved brother was bad enough but to have her mother there as a vessel, Michael's sword...no, she wouldn't dwell on it. Father wouldn't have allowed it if he thought she would get hurt. Michael will take care of her, he will protect her.

"Uncle Sam?" Tristan's voice broke her from her thoughts.

"We will do what we must to end this war." Isolde said without emotion.

"Before Michael took over...mom, she made me promise, Is."

Isolde looked at her brother. While he resembled their father greatly, he had their mothers demeanour. Her 'family comes before everything and must be protected at all cost' Philosophy, while Isolde, taking mostly after Deana in looks had inherited Castiels no nonsense approach to life. His 'do whatever it takes' way of thinking. Between them they balanced each other nicely.

Isolde placed a hand on his shoulder and looked him in his eyes.

"We will do the best we can, Tris."

It wasn't until Sams girlfriend had been murdered by demons that he and Deana had learned of the prophecy that, using Sams hand, Lucifer would destroy the earth but, despite the love and support Sam received from Deana and the rest of his family, that event was enough to send him spiralling down a dark path, culminating with the loss of their father and leading to Sam saying 'Yes' to the Devil himself.

The twins sat in the fading light. In unison they closed their eyes and lowered their heads in silent prayer. They sat for several long moments as their breaths and heartbeats synchronised. Eventually Isolde opened her eyes and lifted her head.

"It's time."

She stood and strode across the scorched ground, unfurling wings the colour of beaten copper with flecks of green, in tones ranging from fresh apples to the deepest emerald, scattered throughout, with every step.

Tristan walked on her right, one pace behind, respecting her place as eldest and spread his own wings of pristine white feathers with ice blue tips.

As they reached the gates, their wings flapped once, perfectly synchronised, and they disappeared.

They reappeared on a hilltop, this time standing shoulder to shoulder. To their left stood their father, Castiel and on their right, their uncles and Archangels, Michael and Gabriel. Almost the entire Heavenly Host assembled behind them.

Isolde surveyed the enemy gathered in the valley below. She met Lucifers eyes and he smirked at her. 'Little child, thinks she can defeat me.' He thinks to himself, the words echoing in Isolde's mind..

She lifted her chin in defiance of her uncles words, matching his self assured smirk for one of her own. 'Yes I do, and I will.' She thought back, Lucifers smile faltered just a bit.

"Keep to my back brother, we have work to do."

With a nod to his sister, Isolde stepped forward and lead Heavens armies into battle.

A/N: well, thats it, this story is done, with the exception of a stupid little time stamp that grew in my brain and wouldnt leave until I had written it. Special thanks to Vrskaandrea, Franki3winchester, The Raven of Never-Nevermore, ShadowXMoonlight, Sailorswansherlolly, Malic Malic, Shazza19 and everyone else that took time to leave comments, followed and favourited my story. I have a couple of other stories finished and ready to post but other than that I might be a little quiet as I need to focus on some real life things for a while, but we will see. Its hard to keep a good story down.

Much Love
