I don't own Sailor Moon, nor did I create it. Naoko Takeuchi created Sailor Moon, this is just my alternate universe version, a sort of "If I created Sailor Moon" story...

CHAPTER 33:HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION #4

LOVE AND THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH

JULY 5, 1987

Usagi Tsukino woke up around 7:30 in the morning. She hopped in the shower, and got dressed. She wore a short sleeved pink cropped top worn off the shoulders, white pedal pushers, and white sandals. She went downstairs, followed by her cat Luna. "You seem happy this morning," Luna said.

"I am," Usagi said. "I sort of met a boy yesterday."

"What do you mean sort of met a boy?" Luna asked. "Either you did meet a boy or you didn't."

"I had a few classes with him over the years," Usagi said. "But until yesterday, I hadn't ever talked to him. A shame, though. He's a nice guy, and as it turns out, he's had a crush on me since he first moved here."

"So what's this new boy's name?" Luna asked.

"Jerry," Usagi said. "Jerry Logue."

"So what do you want for breakfast?" Usagi asked.

"Same as usual," Luna said.

"Meow Mix in cream," Usagi said, putting cat food and cream in Luna's food bowl, and giving her fresh water in her water dish.

Good morning, Ikuko said, coming downstairs. She had just gotten out of the shower, and was wearing a towel wrapped around her body. Luna, I don't suppose Usagi told you about her new boyfriend, did she?

She did mention something about meeting a boy yesterday, Luna said.

Get this, Ikuko said. I went to high school with his uncle.

I'd gone to school with him since my last year at Tuffree and never knew that, Usagi said.

You know how Usagi and I went out for breakfast yesterday, Ikuko said. Anyways, when we get to the restaurant, I just happen to run into a boy I was friends with in high school. He was in town visiting his sister, her son is one of Usagi's classmates, and it turns out he's had a crush on Usagi since he first saw her, but was too afraid to talk to her until today.

The phone rang, Ikuko picked it up on the second ring Usagi, she said, handing the receiver to her daughter, It's Ami.

"Hey Ami," Usagi said.

"Hi yourself, Usagi," Ami said. "You seem especially happy today."

"I sort of met a boy yesterday," Usagi said.

"How can you sort of meet a boy?" Ami asked.

"I had a few classes with him over the last few years," Usagi said. "But until yesterday, he didn't have the courage to talk to me."

"You're not scary," Ami said.

"I know," Usagi said. "But he had a crush on me, and was too scared to talk to me. And get this, his uncle went to high school with my mom."

"So who's this boy, anyways?" Ami asked.

"Jerry Logue," Usagi said.

"It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all," Ami sang.

"What's that all about?" Usagi asked. "Don't tell me your mom went to Valencia."

"No," Ami said. "You know my aunt Saeko, right?"

"Mrs. Kuramoto," Usagi said.

"Her husband's cousin is married to Jerry's mom's best friend," Ami said. "Anyways, I wanted to call you to tell you that I'll be training with John today."

"I thought you knew how to fight," Usagi said.

"My dad taught me how to fight hand to hand," Ami said. "I have black belt level competency in karate."

"You mean you have a black belt?" Usagi asked.

"My dad says that a black belt holds your pants up just as well as any other color belt," Ami said. "However, he said that if I did go to any karate school in town with what I know, I know enough to easily earn a black belt. Anyways, John and I are going to be training with weapons. He's going to show me a little about sword fighting."

"That's good," Usagi said. "I more than likely have a date today, that is, if Jerry calls."

"Hope he does," Ami said. "I don't know him that well, but from what I do know, he's a nice guy. Doesn't smoke, drink, or do drugs, and he rides a spaghetti hog."

"Spaghetti hog?" Usagi asked.

"His motorcycle," Ami said. "He rides a Harley-Davidson SS-350. It's an Italian made bike they sell as a Harley."

"Ok," Usagi said. "Kind of like how they call Italian made westerns spaghetti westerns."

"Yeah," Ami said. "Anyways, I have to go. John's at the door, he's wearing his training costume."

"Talk to you later," Usagi said. After she hung up, her brother Shingo came downstairs, and put a couple frozen waffles in the toaster. As he did, the phone rang, and since she was right next to the phone, Usagi picked it up. "Hello," she said.

"Hi Usagi," Jerry Logue said. "It's me, Jerry."

"Hi Jerry," Usagi said.

"Hey Usagi," Jerry Logue said. "Got anything planned for today?"

"That depends," Usagi said. "What did you have in mind?"

"I was thinking Disneyland," Jerry said. "My mom's taking Debra and one of her friends, as well as Jennie, I was thinking I could pick you up on my bike and take you."

"I'd have to ask my mom," Usagi said.

Ask me what? Ikuko asked.

Jerry wants to take me to Disneyland, Usagi said. I have money, and my pass doesn't expire until October anyways.

That sounds like a good idea, Ikuko said. Maybe I'll take Shingo today as well.

Does that mean I can go? Usagi asked.

Have fun, Ikuko said. Maybe we'll see you there.

"My mom said it's okay," Usagi said.

"Great," Jerry said. "You have breakfast yet?"

"I was just about to make breakfast when you called," Usagi said.

"Wanna stop somewhere on the way and pick something up quick?" Jerry asked. "My treat."

"Sure," Usagi said.

"Great," Jerry said. "I'll be there in about 20 minutes."

"See you when you get here," Usagi said. "I love you."

"I love you," Jerry said, as he hung up.

Jerry's gonna be here in about 20 minutes, Usagi said.

That doesn't give you time to eat breakfast, Ikuko said.

We're going out for breakfast, Usagi said. Jerry said it was his treat.

He seems like a nice boy, Ikuko said. Of course, he is Tom Husted's nephew. Funny, though. I never really pictured Tom as a war hero.

War hero? Usagi asked.

He mentioned something about getting a medal for repairing downed communications lines under enemy fire. Anyways, that might not exactly make him a war hero, but it does make him a decorated combat veteran.

Yeah, Usagi said.

Anyways, Ikuko said, I'm going upstairs to get dressed.

"So what was that about anyways?" Shingo asked, after Ikuko went upstairs.

"What?" Usagi replied.

"Saying "I love you" instead of goodbye," Shingo said.

"Oh that," Usagi said. "That's Jerry's idea. He says his cousin is a police officer, he and his wife say "I love you" every day when he leaves for work. He says that's in case something happens, "I love you" is the last thing they say to each other."

"That's actually kind of sweet," Shingo said.

"Yeah, it is," Usagi said, as she went back to her room to change her shoes, putting on white ankle socks, and pink leather high top sneakers with 2 Velcro straps on each ankle.

About 20 minutes later, Jerry showed up at Usagi's house and rang the doorbell. Shingo answered the door. "Hey sis," Shingo said, as Usagi finished getting ready. "Jerry's here."

"I'll be down in a minute," Usagi said.

You leaving? Ikuko asked.

Yeah, Usagi said. Jerry just showed up.

I know you have some money, Ikuko said, handing Usagi a couple $20 bills, Just in case.

Thanks, mom, Usagi said.

"Ready to go?" Jerry asked, as Usagi came to the door.

"Ready as you are," Usagi said. They hopped on the back of Jerry's Harley-Davidson SS-350, and Jerry kickstarted it. As the bike came to life, Jerry revved it to give it a little juice, and they took off. They stopped at Billy Boy's, a mom and pop burger place on Lemon and Commonwealth in Fullerton, over by the Fullerton Transportation Center and train station. Jerry got bacon and eggs, with hash browns and a short stack of pancakes, while Usagi got a Denver omelet, with hash browns and sourdough toast, and they both got coffee and orange juice. After breakfast, they rode to Disneyland. Both of them had annual passports, so they were able to bypass the ticket booth, and go right into the park. Once they got to the park, they got a locker, where they stashed their jackets and other things they didn't need at the moment. The first ride they went on was Haunted Mansion, which was one of Jerry's favorite rides. "For some reason, I figured the first thing you went on would be Star Tours," Usagi said.

"I've been on it a few times," Jerry said. "I figure since I have an annual pass, I could skip it one time."

"I didn't feel like standing in that line, anyways," Usagi said.

"Me neither," Jerry said. "Of course, if you don't mind staying until closing, we might luck out and the line may be a bit shorter."

"I'll let you know," Usagi said.

As they got in line for the Mansion, they ran into Jerry's sister Debra, as well as their cousins James and Jennie, and Debra's friend Trisha. "Hey guys," Jerry said. "I didn't know James was coming."

"It was either Disneyland or go to the swap meet with my mom and dad," James said.

"I don't blame you," Jerry said.

"Me neither," Usagi said. "I'm not a huge fan of swap meets myself."

"You guys don't want to hang out with us today, do you?" Debra asked.

"I think they might want to be alone," James said, noticing that Jerry and Usagi were holding hands.

"At Disneyland?" Jennie asked.

"You know what I mean," James said.

Soon, they all reached the head of the line, and entered the Mansion, first going through the stretching room, and finally onto the ride, James with Jennie, Debra with Trisha, and Jerry with Usagi. After the Mansion, Debra, Trisha, James, and Jennie went off towards Bear Country, while Jerry and Usagi went on Pirates of the Caribbean. They went on Jungle Cruise and the Tiki Room, as well as took a romantic cruise around the Rivers of America on the Mark Twain, and met up with Jerry's mom at Plaza Gardens for lunch, where they both got double burgers, fries, and chocolate shakes. After lunch, they went on some of the rides in Fantasyland, namely, Peter Pan's Flight, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, Motor Boat Cruise, and It's a Small World. "There's just something about Disneyland," Jerry said, as he and Usagi got off It's a Small World, and walked to the Matterhorn. "I know they call it the Happiest Place on Earth, which is an appropriate name, because every time I come, some of the happiness rubs off on me."

"Are you sure it's Disneyland?" Usagi asked.

"What do you mean?" Jerry asked.

"Yesterday, when we were walking," Usagi said, as they got in line for the Matterhorn(on the Tomorrowland side) "I held your hand, remember?"

"Oh yeah," Jerry said.

"That was the first time I had ever seen you smile," Usagi said. "Don't think I haven't noticed you over the years."

"For some reason, until yesterday, I haven't really had much reason to smile," Jerry said. "But you gave me a reason to smile."

"I'm glad," Usagi said, giving him a kiss.

"I don't know what it was," Jerry said. "But being around someone as beautiful as you makes me happy."

"Sometimes I don't feel beautiful," Usagi said. "My nose is too small, and my chin is the wrong shape, and I could probably stand to lose a couple pounds."

"Nonsense," Jerry said. "Your nose is the perfect size, your chin is the perfect shape, and a couple extra pounds means that much more of you to love. You don't have to be Christie Brinkley or Paulina Porizkova, I didn't fall in love with either of them. I fell in love with Usagi Tsukino. And I didn't fall in love with your nose, or chin, or eyes, or anything else, I fell in love with your big heart. And I love you because you helped me find my smile."

"I think you should smile more often," Usagi said. "Your smile is even cuter than Tom Cruise's smile."

"Now that you've given me a reason to smile," Jerry said.

"Know what I like about you?" Usagi asked.

"No," Jerry said. "I could never figure out what someone like you would see in someone like me."

"Your honesty," Usagi said. "I mean, we've really only known each other since yesterday, but you're just so open with me about yourself."

"Well, there are a few things I'm keeping close to the vest," Jerry said. "Maybe some day, but for now, there are some things I don't really feel comfortable talking about."

"Something in your past," Usagi said. "Something that happened to you that you don't really like talking about. I understand fully. If there is something you don't want to talk to me about, I'll leave it at that."

"Thank you," Jerry said. "Let me ask you this. Do you know how it feels like being invited to join an exclusive club, they welcome you in with open arms, they bend over backwards to make you feel welcome, but part of you still feels like an outsider?"

"I can't say I've ever had that feeling before," Usagi said.

"Let's just say if I were to write my autobiography today," Jerry said, "That would be the title. For some reason, I've never really felt like I belonged anywhere."

"You have friends at school, don't you?" Usagi asked. "I've seen that group you hang out with at lunch. They're not exactly the in crowd at El Dorado, but they seem to accept you."

"They're my bros," Jerry said.

"So there is somewhere you belong," Usagi said. "Now what do you think they would say if they saw me with you?"

"They'd ask you what you've done with me," Jerry said. "They know I have a crush on you, but could never screw up the courage to actually say hi to you."

"Tell you what," Usagi said. "First day of school, at lunch, we'll walk hand in hand by the planter where they all sit, and right in front of them, I'll plant a great big sloppy wet kiss on your lips, just so you can see the looks on their faces."

"I knew there was a reason I fell in love with you," Jerry said, a smile a mile wide crossed his face. "I would love to see the looks on their faces while they're watching us suck face."

"Suck face?" Usagi asked.

"Didn't you ever see On Golden Pond?" Jerry asked. "That's the term the teenage kid Jane Fonda and her boyfriend fobbed off on her parents for the summer used for kissing."

"You actually liked that movie?" Usagi asked.

"Yeah," John said "It's a buddy movie disguised as a chick flick. Okay, they have the story about Jane Fonda's character having a strained relationship with her father, but that's just at the beginning and end of the movie. The meat and potatoes of the movie is the old man and the teenage boy bonding over fishing. At first, the kid doesn't want to be there, the old man doesn't really know what to do with him, but by the end of the movie, the old man and the kid are practically best buddies. And if I were to do a remake of it, I'd have them high fiving each other when the kid catches Walter at the end. Anyways, the kid mentions to the old man he likes to suck face with girls, and explains that it's a slang term for kissing. My favorite line in the movie is near the end, when the old guy asks his wife to suck face, like the kid rubbed off on him. What I liked about it was it was about two guys from different generations bonding over an activity they both enjoyed."

"I would have never guessed a guy like you would like a movie like that," Usagi said.

"There's a lot about me you don't know," Jerry said. "But you'll learn eventually."

"And there's a lot you don't know about me," Usagi said.

"That's something I wanted to talk to you about," Jerry said, as they boarded the ride. "Maybe after we get off the ride, we can find someplace private to talk."

"Okay," Usagi said, as they buckled their safety belts, and embarked on the ride. After Matterhorn, they went on PeopleMover, where they could have some privacy. "What did you want to talk about?" Usagi asked, as they left the station on the grand circle tour of Tomorrowland.

"Sailor Moon," Jerry said.

"What about Sailor Moon?" Usagi asked.

"I know you're Sailor Moon," Jerry said. "I don't know why everyone else hasn't figured it out yet, you're both blondes, and wear the same hairstyle. In fact, you and Sailor Moon are the only girls I've ever seen wearing that particular hairstyle, blonde, brunette, or redhead. And there's no mistaking that cute little ass of yours. And there's the fact one of your friends is John McCoy, otherwise known as Golden Hawk. But the real reason is, I saw you transform once. Back in November, you were fighting some creature at the Brea Mall. I was on my lunch break at the time, I came to the mall to grab a sandwich at Great Steak and Fry Company, and I saw you and Ami Mizuno transform."

"Okay, so you know I'm Sailor Moon," Usagi said.

"And you're probably wondering why I kept my big mouth shut about it all this time," Jerry said.

"The thought has come to mind," Usagi said.

"I've read enough comic books to know about the whole secret identity thing," Jerry said. "Besides, if the tables were turned, and I was a superhero, and you found out my secret identity, I wouldn't want you blabbing it all over town."

"True," Usagi said.

"I don't really want to discuss it right now," Jerry said. "I just thought you should know I know that about you."

"Agreed," Usagi said. "At least I don't have to worry about telling you. And don't worry, you didn't betray my trust. If you had blabbed my secret all over town, that would be betraying my trust. Anyways, enough about that. What's your all-time favorite ride here?"

"Space Mountain," Jerry said.

"Wanna do that next?" Usagi asked. "The line doesn't look all that bad."

"Sure," Jerry said. After getting off PeopleMover, they got in line for Space Mountain. The wait was only 25 minutes, and they sat in the back row. The next thing they went on the Skyway, they rode it to Fantasyland. As soon as the cast member put their cabin on the line, John kissed Usagi. After they got off the ride in Fantasyland, they went on Big Thunder Mountain, followed by another ride on Haunted Mansion. This time, as they were passing through the seance scene, the ride stopped. "Anything wrong?" Jerry asked, putting an arm around Usagi's shoulders.

"I've never been on here when the ride stopped," Usagi said.

"Nothing to worry about," Jerry said. "Dollars to donuts, it's just someone in a wheelchair."

"Someone in a wheelchair?" Usagi asked.

"They have to stop it whenever someone in a wheelchair rides," Jerry said. "It's because this, as well as PeopleMover, are continuously moving, they have to stop the ride for them, load them on the ride, set their wheelchair to the side, and start the ride up again. And when the ride's over, they don't get off where everyone else gets off, they bring them back to where everyone gets on, stops the ride again, and they get off, and take the stretching room back up, and leave through an accessible exit. I came here one time with my grandmother back when I was 12, she was in a wheelchair because of a broken ankle. Most rides have special boarding and disembarking procedures for people in wheelchairs, I got to see many of them. Back when they had Adventures Thru Inner Space, they did the same thing, they stopped the ride to let them on, but took their wheelchair to the regular exit, and stopped the ride when they got there."

"So it's just normal procedure?" Usagi asked.

"Pretty much," Jerry said, as the ride started up again. "See, I told you. Just someone in a wheelchair."

After the ride, as they were going up the speedramp(a conveyor belt at an angle), Jerry put his feet at the edges of the belt. "What are you doing?" Usagi asked.

"Budget foot massage," Jerry said. "Try it."

Usagi put her feet at the edges of the belt, as they went up. "Oh yeah," she said. "That does feel good."

"I know it doesn't last very long," Jerry said, "but even for a few seconds, it feels good after spending all day on your feet. Trust me, I've had days where I spent the whole day here, and I don't mind telling you, when I got home at night, my dogs were definitely barking."

"I hear you there," Usagi said. "I always wear sneakers anywhere if I expect to walk all day. I mean, I could wear high heels, but after walking around all day, not only would I have blisters all over my feet, but my blisters would have blisters."

"Tell me about it," Jerry said. It was about time to meet up with his mom for dinner, they met up in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, along with Debra, James, and Jennie. Once they all met up, they went to Plaza Inn, where Jerry and Usagi got fried chicken dinners, Usagi got Coke, Jerry got Cherry Coke. After dinner, Jerry and Usagi went back to Fantasyland, where they went on Storybook Land Canal Boats, followed by another ride on Peter Pan's Flight, where Jerry stole a kiss as he and Usagi flew over London. They went to Videopolis for a bit, getting there as the band came on for their first set. The first song they played was "Livin' on a Prayer", so Jerry and Usagi decided to stay and dance for a bit. The band played a few other songs they liked, such as "Walking on Sunshine", ""Keep Your Hands to Yourself", "C'est la Vie", and "Dreams". After the band took a break, they played videos, such as "World Shut Your Mouth" by Julian Cope, "You Keep Me Hanging On" by Kim Wilde, "Walk Like an Egyptian" by the Bangles, "Into the Night" by Frehley's Comet, and "Funky Town" by Pseudo Echo, among others. They stayed at Videopolis through the fireworks, standing on the dance floor, arm in arm. After the fireworks, they took one last ride, a romantic late night cruise on Storybook Land Canal Boats, and called it a night, but not before stopping at the arcade in Tomorrowland, where they got their pictures taken in the photo booth, getting several strips. First, they got two of the both of them, one for each. Next, Jerry got a strip of himself for Usagi, and finally, Usagi got a strip of herself for Jerry. Jerry rode Usagi home on his motorcycle, walking her to her front door. At her doorstep, Usagi gave Jerry one last kiss goodnight before unlocking the door, and going inside. "I love you," Jerry said.

"I love you," Usagi said, as she closed the door.

Jerry rode home, happier than he'd been in a long time. He knew it wasn't just Disneyland, it was Usagi. "Why didn't I talk to her before?" he asked himself, as he pulled into the parking lot of the Stop-N-Go near his house, on the corner of Fonda and Harbor, a store he had bought many treats from over the years. He bought himself bottle of green apple soda. He opened the bottle with the bottle opener on his keyring, and drank the bottle in the parking lot. Letting out a belch, he returned the bottle to the store for the refund on his deposit, and and went home, going up the alley behind the street his mom lived on, and parked his motorcycle in the garage. He then went through the backyard, and entered the house through the back door. "How was your day?" his mom asked, as he went to his room.

"The best," Jerry said. "Anyways, I'm going to bed. "He went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth, and went to his room, where he got dressed for bed, setting the pictures of him and Usagi on his dresser, kissing each picture on the strip of just Usagi.

Meanwhile, as Usagi entered her own house, and locked the door behind her, her mom was watching a movie on cable. How was Disneyland? Ikuko asked.

I had the best time, Usagi said. Jerry's the most awesome boy I've ever met.

I'm glad you had a good time, Ikuko said.

Usagi went to her bedroom, putting the pictures from Disneyland on her bulletin board. She kissed the tip of the index finger of her right hand, and touched every picture on the strip of just Jerry. Next, she got dressed for bed, and got into bed. As she got into bed, Luna came into the room. "This Jerry guy seems nice," Luna said.

"He is," Usagi said. "I don't know what it is, but there's something about him. Something I don't think he knows about... yet."
