Sixclaw
Chapter 45
"DIPLOMACY" CENTER
Sixclaw dodged a slice from the queen's rapier, and rolled onto the ground. "Why! Won't! You! Die?!" growled the queen, attempting to stab Sixclaw through the head.
"I really don't want to die today. Maybe in the future, but not at the moment." said Sixclaw.
"Well, too bad."growled the queen, raising her sword for the finishing blow.
"No." said Sixclaw, as the queen was lifted off her feet and flung away from Sixclaw. "Thanks, One-Eye."said Sixclaw, grabbing her two sabres from the van.
The dragon queen somehow got up, and retrieved her sword. "You can't beat me without the aid of your monster." she taunted. "Truly pathetic."
Sixclaw turned around to see the other captives freed and arming themselves with their weapons. "We have you seven to one. If you surrender now, you will have a trial. If not… Well, you get the picture."
"Seven, I count six." said the queen, idly twirling her rapier.
"Did you attend school?" asked Sixclaw, fixing the queen with an incredulous stare. "Cause I don't think ya did."
"Yes." said the queen, throwing her rapier like a spear, directly into One-Eye's side. "Aaaaaaaaand that makes six."
One-Eye pulled the long blade out of his armor, and inspected it. There was no blood on it, and he snapped it in his paw. "I recommend a good lawyer. Now get in the transport."
The dragon queen growled as another sword seemingly erupted from her wrist. This one was white, and was steaming in the cool air. She did not get a chance to use it however, as the sword of Martin pricked the base of her neck.
"Drop the weapon right now." said Deyna, shaking all over from rage. "If not, then I swear on all the vermin that died to this blade that I will kill you.
"You wouldn't dare." said the queen.
"Unlike those furballs, I am not bound by your laws. I have diplomatic immunity."
"You assume that I'm going to go to my death WILLINGLY?" said the queen. "I can't tell if you're serious or not." At this, the queen whirled and struck at Deyna's exposed throat, only to be deftly parried by the sword of Martin.
"Deadly." said Deyna. "What the- Stop it. Stop spinning right now." The queen stopped for a moment, only to pull another identical blade from thin air, and ram it into a crack in One-Eye's armor. She immediately let go of the hilt and shoved the bloodwrather onto his back, promptly conjuring another.
Sixclaw removed the blade from the wildcat's chest, and looked at the wound. It was a diamond-shaped hole, that was smoking for some reason, "Come on, man. Get up, you'll be alright."
"Yeah, just give me a minute to catch my- OW -breath." One-Eye's face was hidden behind a black metal helmet with red war paint stripes and a white skull drawn on the face, but Sixclaw could tell he was in immense pain.
"Is it fatal? Please don't say it's fatal." said Sixclaw.
One-Eye sat up and looked her dead in the eyes. "Six, I kill people for a living, so trust me. It's not fatal in the slightest if it doesn't get infected."
"That's a relief. Now pardon me while I murder this bitch." Sixclaw let One-Eye slump against a van and dashed towards the Queen, who was dueling with Deyna.
The large otter was giving the queen a run for her money, as his brain was not addled by Bloodwrath. This, along with a size advantage and the ability to use all of his skills, rather than charging in like a madman made the pair evenly matched.
Sixclaw and Deyna managed to gain the upper hand against the queen, and a well placed blow from both of Sixclaw's sabres put the queen in an unfavorable position. "Do you give up now?" asked Sixclaw, who was almost completely out of breath and had been running on pure adrenaline.
Before the queen could answer, the sound of engines revving, gunfire and creatures yelling filled the air, getting louder by the second. "Looks like my armies are here. I think you should be the ones to surrender."
One-Eye pushed himself up, a piece of his armor falling off. The wildcat limped forward, locked his gauntleted paw around the queen's head, and pulled it backwards so she was looking up.
Sixclaw heard the distinct sound of Skullian aircraft zooming towards their position. The aircraft were easy to identify for Sixclaw, as the cat had been bombarded by them many times when she still worked in artillery. No… It couldn't be…
Seconds later, a vee formation of several Skullian warjets flew over their position, spinning in the sky. They looped vertically, and fireworks shot from under the planes as they climbed higher, the message obvious. The Skullians had won the war. Sixclaw just stood there and smiled.
One-Eye took off his helmet, an expression of awe and wonderment spread across his scarred face. "We won." said the wildcat, letting go of the queen's head, who's triumphant smirk had turned to a grimace of rage.
The Skullian forces arrived, headed by Red, and Adran. Longtail, Bootbrain, Blackpaw and Nimbalo would have been shouting triumphantly, if Longtail was in a crumpled, bleeding heap on the ground, Bootbrain was unable to move from narcotic-induced paralysis, and Blackpaw and Nimbalo had been put out of commission by the Queen.
Deyna turned to One-Eye, and extended his paw. "I believe this marks the end of my stay in the southlands. It has been a good experience, but my friends will be eager to return home.
"You're crazier than I am if you think you can just walk all the way across that desert. I don't know how you did it the first time." said One-Eye. As he spoke, he did not notice the queen drawing a knife.
Deyna noticed this, and pushed the wildcat out of the way. While the conversation had been going on, the queen had taken the time to rest and regain some of her energy. She immediately used this energy to create a ring of fire around her and One-Eye. "Get up, you sonofabitch. We gotta finish this."
"Nothin' to finish." slurred One-Eye. "I won, now surrender, this is your last chance.
"NO!" yelled the Queen. She let out a loud whistle, and Sunfur appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The gold fox threw his compound hunting crossbow at the two. One-Eye fumbled for it, but he was too slow and it fell to the ground. The queen immediately grabbed it, and fired the bolt into the center of One-Eye's torso.
The fires that had screened the two mortal enemies from view suddenly extinguished, showing the entire army two things: One-Eye bleeding out, and the queen with an unloaded crossbow.
Sixclaw walked up to the queen, shaking from anger and sorrow. She wordlessly drew one of her blades and swung it straight through the queen's neck. She immediately dropped the sword and ran to One-Eye's side, followed closely by Deyna.
The large otter propped the wildcat up against a tree. One of the combat medics reached to remove his helmet, but the wildcat pushed their hand away. Sixclaw observed his single eye blink once at her, before closing for good. They heard his breathing grow slower, and shallower, before finally cutting out, leaving behind a giant suit of armor and a dead body.
