-Chapter 38-

-Power Overwhelming-

Tassadar watched on the holo-screen as the colossal form of the Overmind took a single great step over the half circle of dead Behemoths. Below it, Artanis and his army hurriedly moved farther away to reorganize. Tassadar looked around the bridge to the expectnet faces of his crew. Some were still watching the Overmind, others turned to the former Executor. Tassadar knew they were afraid as he, and all of them could feel it through the Khala. How couldn't they be with the oppressively powerful psionic presence of the Overmind weighing on their minds like a great weight.

"Contact Selendis, and the Terrans in orbit." Tassadar ordered.

At his order the crew quickly opened a com channel, two holo-screens blinked on in mid air showing Selendis and Haruka.

"Urgh? Tassadar is that pressure the Overmind?" Selendis asked with two fingers on her temple.

"Yes unfortunately.. It seems the Overmind has once again evolved after ingesting a large amount of Khaydarin crystals."

Selendis eyes widened slightly in surprise and fear.

"Khaydarin crystals? I see, then it has even developed to the point it can withstand them being in its own being." said Selendis.

Tassadar nodded as Haruka continued to quietly listen.

"That seems to be the case. The crystals can greatly boost ones psionic abilities simply by wearing them on ones garments. To say nothing of making them a permanent part of one's flesh."

Selendis stared at Tassadar expectantly.

"Then... what are we to do?"

Tassadar glanced to the image of the Overmind flexing its own arms and claws looking at them as it acclimates to its new body.

"It is still not fully accustomed to its new body or power. If we strike now! with everything we have then perhaps we..."

Selendis interrupted.

"Destroy it before it becomes to powerful!"

Tassadar nodded.

"It will take more then the firepower of the fleet I fear to kill the Overmind now, after its has evolved with the essence of both Templar and Dark templar I fear. But perhaps if I channel the two powers together? I could make a miracle."

Selendis eyes widened in shock shaking her head.

"But to channel both the Khala and Void energies together... It would destroy you!"

"If that is the price to save Aiur... the galaxy from the Overmind and it's unending hunger then so be it." replied Tassadar.

Haruka chose this moment to chime in.

"Tassadar, I haven't been around you Protoss for very long so I don't know much about your limits regarding psionic abilities, but... and this is just my suggestion. Won't it be much easier on you if you work in conjunction with a Dark Templar, each channeling your own innate psionic energies together."

Tassadar was surprised at the Terrans words and realized her wisdom.

"Thank you Haruka for the suggestion. I admit I was partly too hasty to rush in to sacrifice my self. Selendis, Haruka, I ask you to aide me. Use the two of your fleets to attack the Overmind and keep it distracted while I find Zeratul and his Dark templar, for it is in them that our hope is to be found."

"Sounds like a plan," replied Haruka.

"My fleets weapons will burn The Overminds body to ashes be it immortal or not." replied Selendis.

"Let my forces have the first shot," said Haruka.

"Very well Terran," replied Selendis.

The holo-screens blinked off leaving Tassadar staring out at the colossal form of the Overmind as it turned to Artanis and his army who looked like mere toys relatively speaking. The Overmind reached out with one of it's massive clawed hands to grasp at the Templar army, but in the next instant a volley of Yamato blasts rained down from the sky striking the Overmind and the area around it, creating a large scale dust cloud that partly covered the giant Zerg. The tremendous energy impacts stunned the great beast for a moment and it's great arms swepped through the air as it tried stabilizing its footing.

[(The Overmind is nearly as big as a Protoss carrier BTW.)]

On board the Gjallarhorn the A.I. Adjutant Mary Hathorns android body standing in front of Haruka and looking off into space but seeing through the ships sensors.

"Minimal damage to target. The Overmind has regained it's footing and is charging a psionic attack!" reported Mary.

"All ships evasive action. Selendis it's your turn," said Haruka.

In her Carrier Selendis stared at the image of the Overmind stretching out it's arms.

"All ships fire a full and continues barrage on the Overmind. Make sure not to hit the Executor and his army."

In orbit the Fleet of the Executor oriented themselves to point down to the surface of Aiur. All of the turrets along their bow (front) flared with power, projecting streams of energy through the atmosphere. The beams all converged on the Overmind, but moments before impact a giant barrier blocked all the attacks.

"What!" Selendis exclaimed in surprise that the Overmind now had its own shield, one strong enough to block her fleets fire power. "Continue firing!"

The Terran and Templar fleets in orbit continued firing at the Overmind but their attacks did little to its psionic shields. Though their attacks had little effect it still bought the time needed for Tassadar.

Tassadar and a group of Zealots took a shuttle as to not attract to much attention. They flew north west to link up with Artanis and hopefully the Dark Templar as well.

The shuttle glided over the landscape. Tassadar looking out the holo-screen to the desolated and creep covered surface. He lamented the destruction of the once beautiful forests surrounding the Xel'naga temple and only resolved to end this battle once and for all. And to do that he needed the help of Zeratul.

Artanis ran through a field of dead Zerg as his army cut through the remaining western section of the Hive cluster as he and his army fled the overwhelmingly powerful Overmind towering over all of them. The weapons barrage from the orbital fleets were also making the area even more dangerous. As he and the surviving Templar forces moved further west, more Zerg hold outs attacked them. Artanis psi-dashed forwards beheading several Hydralisks. He swung his blades in both rage at his powerlessness against the Overmind and anger at his seeming cowardice at having his army flee instead of attacking. But something deep in his being made Artanis decide to get his army out of there, perhaps to fight another day or to avoid a massacre, He simply felt that it would be wasteful to fight at that moment. He kicked a Zergling sending it flying into a pack of its siblings, as they got back up a Dragoon blasted them to charred roast and Artanis swung his blades in a spinning slash bisecting three more Zerglings.

The Templar army wiped out as much of the hive cluster as they could as they made their way farther west. A roar caught the Executors attention and looking back Artanis saw five Ultralisks charging after him and the Templar army, firing their spore symbiotes as they gave chase. Artanis stopped ordering several Type 1 Blaster Pylons to focus fire on the pursuers. Ten beams lanced through the air striking the Ultralisks. The barrage continued for several seconds and one by one the Ultralisks fell, but not before their attacks depleted two of the Blaster Pylons Shields which had already been weakened by the previous fighting.

Artanis started to breaths a sign of relief for the moment but as he did ten more Ultralisks erupted out from multiple Ultralisk caverns to the south. Quickly turning to the new threat Artanis resolved to kill any Zerg that shows its face. Dozens of Templar changed their direction of attack to back up the Executor at the Ultralisks charged at him. The freshly born creatures fired their back mounted symbiote cannons shelling the Executors position. Artanis psi-dashed over the expanse of ground as acid spore's exploded all around him as he dashed side to side evading the attacks and their splash of burning liquid. He reached the lead Ultralisk and stopped as the creature raised its twin kaiser blades and brought both down at once. As the blades closed in on him Artanis leaned backwards coating his lower body with his own shield creating a frictionless layer that allowed him to slid along the ground as if it was ice.

As he swiftly slid under the kaiser blades and the Beast itself Artanis cut upwards slicing off one of the monsters legs. Roaring in pain the Ultralisk fell crippled from the loss of a limb. Artanis flipped back up and nimbly leaped atop the creatures back cutting and slicing into its spine. With a weakened shriek the Ultralisk died. A moment later a spore shell impacted Artanis shields sending him flying to the ground. The Executor quickly rolled to his feet and formed a psi-spear. Casting the rod of manifested Psionic energy Artanis struck the second Ultralisk in the head killing it instantly. Once again Artanis was struck by multiple spore shells and forced back. The remaining eight Ultralisks surrounded him. Multiple blasts from Dragoons and psi-spears from Zealots bombarded the Ultralisks killing several and drawing the attention of the rest. Artanis and his Templar battled the Ultralisks felling them one by one until all were vanquished. The battle continued to rage as the remaining western half of the hive cluster was destroyed piece by piece until victory was won, and the entirety of the hive cluster was virtually wiped out, with the exception of a few hatcheries and other structures further to the south.

"Executor," said a approaching Zealot. "Our forces are greatly weakened and the Overmind is withstanding the fleets attacks. What is our orders?"

Artanis looked at the Zealot thinking.

"We... must regroup and replenish our forces. Then we launch a final attack on the Overmind." Artanis pointed south west to the last section of the hive cluster remaining. "First we eradicate the final part of the Overminds hive cluster to deprive it of the ability to quickly gather forces against us. Then we expand our forces more. There is yet a large underground depot of resources in that direction from which we can restock on supplies and establish a second base. Once our forces are back to combat ready condition we counter attack..."

Just then a shuttle flew over head and landed a short distance away. The door opened and Tassadar walked out. Artanis was both surprised and curious as to why Tassadar was here on the front lines himself.

"Tassadar what brings your to the front lines?"

"Im looking for Zeratul. I have a plan to kill the Overmind once and for all but I need his assistance and that of the other Dark Templar."

Artanis shook his head, regretfully.

"Unfortunately I have not seen him since the Overmind hatched from it's cocoon."

Looking dismayed Tassadar looked down. Moments later a bright flash and release of psionic power drew everyone's attention. Standing like a living mountain off in the distance the Overmind closed his arms together and gathered his energies into a massive glowing orb burning brightly like a sun. The orb launched skywards exiting the atmosphere.

In orbit the orb split into hundreds of smaller orbs, showering the Terran and Protoss fleets, destroying several Protoss carriers and a dozen Terran ships and left others crippled or damaged.

In her chair Haruka leaned back from holding on tightly as her ship was struck.

"Damage report?" she ordered.

"Moderate damage to left wing and bow section." reported Mary. "A little over 30% of our fleet has been destroyed, with another 2% crippled. All ships are affecting repairs as quickly as possible."

"Have the Templar army gotten out of the ten mile radius?" asked Haruka.

"Yes they have. They are holding at 10.1 miles from the Overmind. I do not know where the Dark Templar are however."

Haruka sighed.

"Guess i'll have to break cover. No helping it I guess. Haruka closed her eyes and projected a telepathic signal. "To all Dark Templar if your in 10 miles of the Overmind your going to get hit by our orbital barrage. Suggest you flee. You have five minutes."

Artanis and Tassadar listened to the Terrans psionic warning recognising it as belonging to Haruka.

"The Terran Commander?" questioned Tassadar.

Haruka then got a response.

"Terran we are all ready out of danger." Zeratul replied telepathically. "Your may fire when ready."

Tassadar, Artanis and the rest of the Templar watched as the Overmind readied another of its orb attacks even while producing a massive psionic barrier blocking the Protoss fleets barrage from orbit. In orbit Harukas ship the Gjallarhorn charged up its Yamato cannon up to a much higher charge level then the previous attacks which were only 30% the maximum output.

"Charge level at 30%" reported adjutant Mary. "...35%...40%...45%. The Overmind is launching another attack!"

One the screens Haruka watched as a second energy orb flew towards her fleet and scattered into hundreds of smaller orbs like before.

"All ships evasive action!" ordered Haruka.

The ships of the Terran fleet fired their RCS thrusters swarving and maneuvering as the rain of burning orange orbs flew at them. At first the Terran ships evaded the psionic blasts easily avoiding direct hits, while the Templar fleet being less evasive in nature simply took the hits with their shields but still lost another 2 ships whose shields could not hold.

"There is no escape from my grasp!" the Overminds voice echoed across the fleet.

Suddenly the Orbs that had passed the Terran fleet swung around moving like homing missiles locked onto their targets. One after the other the Terran ships were struck again and again, their damage ranging from grazing strikes and mild damage to complete obliteration. Another dozen Terran ships were destroyed or damaged in the attack.

"What's the damage, can we fire the Yamato?" asked Haruka.

"Charge at 65%" reported Mary. "It will be another minute before a overcharge shot with the Yamato will be ready."

Steeling her gaze on the monitor Haruka contacted Selendis.

"Selendis It looks like our normal attacks aren't having much effect on its shields, I suggest we hit it with our strongest attacks."

On screen Selendis held on to a control panel as her ship shook from multiple impacts.

"You mean for us to use the purifier? One or two hits from that weapon at full power will no doubt kill the Overmind but it will also kill all of our forces around it. The attack Tassadar's fleet launched on the Zerg hive cluster before was only a fraction of a purifiers true destructive power."

Haruka looked off screen her eyes widening a moment as she mimed a curse word with her lips.

"Well it looks like that may not be a problem," said Haruka.

Selendis turned her eyes to one of her holo-screen. From the perspective of a Observer high in the sky Selendis saw that all around the Overmind many rocks large and small along with the corpses of both Zerg and Templar alike all floated as if gravity had been turned off. Then the Overmind it's self lifted off the ground. Slowly it levitated up into the air, its speed and altitude accelerating in just a few seconds. Then in a burst of speed the Overmind accelerated into the sky like a missile.

Selendis shook her head. "I do not know if this is fortune or bad luck. But at least we can hit it with our full power now. All ships ready the Purifiers!" ordered Selendis.

As the Overmind left the atmosphere the bows-(front) of all the remaining Templar ships started glowing with built up energy. From her bridge Selendis watched as her ships reoriented themselves, tracking the Overminds ascent into the void of space. Haruka and her remaining battle-cruisers maneuvered to join Selendis and her fleet. As the Terran and Templar fleets combined the Overmind neared them. It flew closer as the combined fleet readied their most powerful weapons a unified, if desprit, attack.

The Overmind neared it prey. Sensing their courage and the build-up of energy from their weapons. Now that the Overmind was in space it took a moment to take in the new senses its newly evolved form had and only empowered more by the Khaydarin crystals that have been digested and weaved into its cells and flesh. The many eyes along its head could see the many and varied spectrums of light and energy that the sun produced and showered the planets with. And its flesh could feel the vibrations from the gravity waves the sun and planets produced pulling and urging it to come to them. And with its mind it could feel the fear and courage of the tiny beings that stayed stagnant refusing to evolve and become more than what they were before. The Overmind has become a being that can live without technology and without technology it can live in the very vacuum of space itself.

The Overmind realised the limited nature of lesser beings like Terrans and Protoss and that the Zerg in their infinite ability to evolve are the strongest living beings in the galaxy. If the lesser beings are allowed to exist it will only invite more stagnation. But if all future life is based on Zerg then the future will be bright indeed as all with hunt and kill, devour and evolve even more.

On the bridge of Selendis Carrier.

"All ships are ready to fire!" reported a Templar.

"What of your ships Haruka?" Selendis asked to the holo-screen.

"All of my ships are ready as well," answered Haruka.

"Then let us strike together, all ships FIRE!"

At Selendis order the combined fleet of Templar and Terran ships fired their most powerful weapons. Dozens of burning golden beams lanced forwards mixed with several crimson beams from the Terrans ships. All of them converging on one target. Sensing the danger the Overmind formed multiple spherical shields around its self seconds before impact. A star burst flared as the beams struck the first barrier piercing it in seconds. The second barrier held for ten seconds slowly turning red before failing. The beams started lessening in their intensity as they hit the final shield. The beams thinning and losing their bright glow. But as they weakened so did the Overminds last shield, and it darkened reder and reder until it also failed, and a river of raging of energy slammed into the Overmind. It's flesh and bones started melting and lost all cohesion on a molecular level.

The unified attack from the remaining Terran and Templar fleets ended and the remains of the Overmind could be seen floating in the vacuum. Half the torso was gone and the arms, legs and tail were all heavily damaged pieces, severed from the torso, free floating in the vacuum.

"Is that it? Is the Overmind dead?" Selendis wondered to herself.

On the surface of Aiur Zeratul the Dark Templar and Artanis, Tassadar and the rest of the Templar all gathered at the new and still expanding base to the south west. High above them they witnessed the fleets combined attack strike the Overmind.

"I sense that the Overmind has unfortunately not lost any of its power," said Zeratul.

"As unbelievable as it seems your-are right o-dark one." said Tassadar.

The two stared up at the sky a moment before Artanis walked up to them.

"If we are to kill the Overmind once and for all then we must use both the powers of the Kala and Void together. Is that the plan you have come up with Tassadar?"

Tassadar turned to the Executor.

"Yes. Though I had originally intended to do it by my self, the Terran Haruka gave me rather wise advise to share in the effort as it would prove fatal one doing it alone, and in hindsight it perhaps would fail if not done correctly."

Zeratul crossed his arms in contemplation.

"Your mean for Templar and Dark Templar to combined their energies as one. Into a archon!"

Tassadar turned to Zeratul. "If needed. Though I merely suggest sending Kala and Void energies into a ships hull and to crash it into the Overmind."

"It's suicide!" exclaimed Artanis. "Surely such energies can be but to better use and not endanger your lives needlessly?"

Both Tasadar and Zeratul glanced at the Executor before sharing a look themselves.

"The Executor is right," said Zeratul, "Winning is worthless if one disregards one's own life so easily and risks losing in the same action as winning."

Tassadar closed his eyes in deep contemplation, and them in a whim looked up to one of the Blaster Pylons floating close by.

"Zeratul? Would it be possible to change a few pylons to use Void energies?"

Both Zeratul and Artanis turned to Tassadar, then to the Blaster Pylon he was looking at.

"Yes it could be done. We Nerazim use them in much the way you Khalai do" replied the Dark Prelate.

Artanis turned to Zeratul. "How quickly could it be done?"

"It is a rather delicate process to change a Pylon into a Void Pylon but it should only take a few minutes to change one." said Zeratul. "And there are many Dark Templar waiting to fight in our fleet."

"How many?" asked Tassadar.

"More than enough." said Zeratul. "But given the nature of the current battle they stayed behind the moon Saalok until needed."

"I presume they're the fleet that saved us when the Conclave sprung their trap during my rescue?" asked Tassadar.

"Yes. It would be wasteful of resources to send so many into battle without a clear purpose. But now there is one. I will summon my brethren." said Zeratul.

Back in orbit Selendis and Haruka along with the rest of their fleets watched in surprised glee as the fragmented body of the Overmind drifted through the void.

"Do you thinks its finally dead?" questioned one Templar.

"Nooo!" the Overminds booming voice echoed through the fleet.

Before the eyes of Terran and Templar alike, the Overminds limbs stopped drifting aimlessly, reorienting themselves towards the main body and flew back together. Each limb reattaching and regenerating. In moments most of the Overminds flesh had reformed from nothing and the lord and master of the Swarm was whole again.

"Pathetic mortals." projected the Overmind. "You waste your lives devoting your-self to inconsequential jobs and fighting for others and their wims. You breed without concern for the purity and strength of your essence and offspring. And you obsess over useless money and honor. And you rely on your technology to do everything for you. Where you stand in metal shells protecting your feeble flesh I stand bare in the void. Supported by nothing but my own power and protected by nothing but my own power. Your ships are powerful true, but it is not really your power. Intellect can be a strength but you waste it on toys instead of strengthening your essence and bodies. Where we Zerg rely on none of it, and yet are so powerful that you cower before our might. We swim through the void and devour the earth growing in number and strength, unending and unrestricted. It is we Zerg that are the superior beings and it is our purity of essence that is superior to the Protoss purity of Form which had failed them, compared to our evolution. And the feeble Terrans who have nothing but a weak copy of the Templars true psionic might, and even then only in the few and most extraordinary of their kind. The future belongs to the strongest. And we Zerg ARE the strongest. The Xel'naga's plans will enter their next phase as the Zerg ascend to their greater potential and the inferior races fall as to dust to the memory of history."

All the Terrans and Templar in the fleet were speechless at the Overminds words. But even so Haruka felt like a hypocrite considering she was now a Zerg pretending to be a Terran. But she was a human once upon a time, so her perspective is broader than most.

"Yeah so what!" Haruka projected back to the overmind, her telepathic voice heard by all. "Just because you have power doesn't mean you have the right or need to kill and destroy all others."

The Overmind paused in contemplation as everyone in the combined fleet held their breath as they listioned.

"You! You are not a Terran. Nor are you the same as I or my swarm. You are Zerg... but not Zerg. One of the luminous ones allies!"

Everyone on the bridge of the Harukas ship except the Adjutant Mary looked at her.

"Wait your a Zerg!" questioned the helm officer.

Haruka awkwardly shrugged. "I was human once but after I lived a long life I died of old age and after words was reincarnated by a powerful multiversal being." Haruka explained with a completely straight face.

Every Terran on the bridge started awkwardly glancing at each other none of them really sure how to take this fantastical explanation. Selendis listening in on the conversation just stood impassively not sure she should be trusting the words of a Zerg or even believing Harukas whole story. Selendis was even hesitant to believe Harukas or the Overmind.

"Ah..." the Overmind replied passively. "That explains your essence. Your of the blood of the Luminous ones swarm."

Selendis now curious about who this Luminous one the Overmind spoke of was couldn't help but wonder who they were.

"Selendis." the Overmind spoke greatly surprising Her.

"Ugh! get out of my head beast!" shouted Selendis holding her head.

"I thought you were curious about who the Luminous one I speak of is?"

"Your end will come soon enough mortal." said the Overmind in complete confidence and indifference. "At least die enlightened by the will of the gods you and your kind so believes in."

"What does that mean?" questioned Selendis.

"Listen well Protoss. "The Overmind projected all throughout the Aiur solar system and beyond. "All of this. The wars and battles between the Zerg and the Protoss were ordained by the Xel'naga countless millennia before. Both our races, one with Purity of Essence and another with purity of Form. The Zerg and Protoss were meant to fight and slaughter each other. Until one race became the victor surpassing the other and becoming more then they were before. And once the victorious ones ascended they would prepare for the coming Great Enemy to reveal themselves and then a new war in heaven would decide the fate of this universe."

"Great Enemy?" questioned Selendis.

"Is THAT Great Enemy the one Noobzilla warned us about?" Haruka thought to herself.

The Overmind continued.

"The enemy of all independent beings in this universe and perhaps beyond. They and the great parasite battled against each other and the Xel'naga tens of thousands of millenia before, but the Xel'naga reached their breaking point. But before their final defeat they ensured that neither of their enemies would grasp victory either, and so they built the Halos. Weapons of vast unimaginable power that could whip a galaxy clean of all life and seal the Great Enemy in its own realm which lies beyond the realm of the Void which the Dark Templar draw their power. This is our history. But the Xel'naga were not without future plans and machinations, as they left behind their servants to tend to the Halos and their great seal, as well as prepare the next generation of life in this galaxy. Preparing them and empowering them with all they needed to become strong enough to defeat the great enemy once and for all. Once all of Aiur is mine and my swarms the rest of the Protoss empire shall follow as will the Terrans. And I and my swarm will grow and multiply throughout the galaxy preparing for the day the great enemy returns, and perhaps the great parasite with it. Now... my explanation is at a end and so too is your existence."

The Overmind finished with its words of enlightenment spread its arms and legs outwards gathering power all across its body. The giant eye crystal on its back glowed brilliantly as it was infused with tremendous amounts of psionic power. The Overmind was about to fire when, a dozen blue/green beams slammed into it from below. Looking on their holo-screen Selendis and Haruka saw the Gantrithor ascending up and out of the atmosphere with four dozen Type 1 Blaster Pylons orbiting around it. Each of them were glowing with two distinct colors of bright Blue from the Pylons powering them but also with a second vivid green Pylon added into their superstructure. The modified Blaster Pylons continued firing on the Overmind who after the initial surprise but up a shield. The shield held but after continues hits but was fading quicker then one would have expected compared to the damage such shields took before.

"So in your twilight hour, you have crafted a new weapon of both Khala and the Void!" thought the Overmind as his barrier started failing, forcing him to put two more up.

Artanis appeared on the holo-screens of both Haruka and Selendis ships.

"I hope that we are not late!"

Selendis almost rolled her eyes.

"Late enough Executor. What is this new weapon you have?"

"It is a combination of both Templar Khala and Narezim Void energies. It does not have a name yet but its seems to be more effective against the Overmind then any of our other weapons."

"Good then this means we still have a chance at killing the Overmind!" said Selendis.

"Yes. We still have a chance to end this once and for all," said Artanis. "But I don't think the weapons fire from the Blaster Pylons will be enough."

A moment after he said that the Overmind counter-attacked sending dozens of blazing orange beams slamming into the Terran/Templar fleet destroying several of the Blaster Pylons and striking other vessels.

Artanis wobbled on his legs as the Gantrithor shook violently from the impacts. "Selendis, Haruka please provide cover fire as we prepare a final attack. Both Tassadar, Zeratul and other Templar and Dark Templar are currently pouring their power into the Gantrithors purifier cannon. It should be enough to kill the Overmind, but we need time to charge it to full capacity."

Selendis stood straighter. "At once Executor."

"I was wondering what plan you would come up with Executor," said Haruka.

The Executor regarded her with a odd look.

"We will talk about you being a Zerg in Terran skin later commander Haruka and who this luminous one is later. For now simply tell me your intentions?"

"Im fighting on your side Executor. And as for who the luminous one the Overmind mentioned is. You already met her a long time ago."

Satisfied with the explanation Artanis nodded. "Very well then. Let us fight till the Overminds end or our own."

All words said and finished the Gantrithor its orbiting Blaster Pylons and the Templar/Terran fleet all combined their fire on the Overmind pushing it back from the shear volume of firepower unleashed upon it. The Blaster Pylons fired in alternating pattern rotating around the Gantrithor as it charged up its purifier cannon with both Khala and Void energies.

Within a inner chamber of the ship, Tassadar and Zeratul sat meditating with a dozen Templar and Dark Templar, gathered around them mixing their psionic powers. Their energies streamed out of them mixing into river like streams that flowed into two rows of Pylons, one of the normal kind and the second consisting of the newly created Void Pylons. The two energies then merged together into the main khaydarin crystals that power the ship and the main purifier weapon. The energies thrummed and synchronized together enmassing their power more and more. A phasesmith matched the whole thing from a control room monitoring the energy levels rose higher and higher.

Outside the Overmind focused its psionic attacks on the weakened Terran fleet. His energy beams arched through space slicing the wing off one ship and destroying another before bombarding the rest of the fleet doing considerable damage. As the Terrans were besieged, Selendis moved 1/3rd of her fleet into shielding positions in-front of them, protecting the Terrans from the Overminds assault. Four Templar Carriers fired their purifier beams breaking through the already weakened shield of the Overmind and allowing the Blaster Pylons the chance to hit Him directly. The Khala/Void beams burned through the flesh and carapace of the Overmind burning hot and more painfully than the previous types of damage inflicted upon it. But even with this pain and the seeming overwhelming attack the Overmind was calm and clear minded knowing what it and it's enemies limits were. Curalling into a ball the Overmind produced another multilayered shield. The Terran/Templar fleet continued hitting the Overmind with everything they had as their one final chance to kill the swarm master was readied to strike.

Minutes passed as little by little the Overminds shields were broken one by one. Then the last shield fell and all the ships fired at the exposed Overmind reducing its body to a cloud of free floating body parts again. But like before they quickly started regenerating and reforming.

"Now!" shouted Tassadar. "Before the Overmind can reform its body."

The bow-(front) of the Gantrithor glowed a eerie blue/green color as its modified purifier cannon finished charging up with the combined Khala/Void energies. In a burst of light it fired sending a ere blue green beam speeding through space. The beam widened until it was a mile across as it washed over the fragmented Overmind.

On Aiur below many Templar and Terrans alike including Jim Raynor, Matt Horner, Mira Han, Sergeant Littlefield, Lt. Breanne, Fenix and Ko'toss and many others watched as a shining blue-green line cut through the night sky far above them. In orbit Tassadar, Zeratul, Selendis, Artanis, Zerion and the others watched as the unified power of the Khala and Void washed the Overminds existence from the universe. They looked on the monitors seeing no trace of the Overminds body nor any traces of its massive psionic power. It was gone, done, Over.

In the purifiers main power core.

"I believe we have done it. I no longer feel the Overminds oppressive presence." stated Tassadar.

"Neither do I." said Zeratul.

On the Gantrithor's bridge.

"Check all scanners," ordered Artanis.

The bridge crew and Artanis checked and rechecked all of their sensores thrice over making sure the Overmind was really gone.

"Executor, the scanners have not picked up any trace of the Overmind in the past 10 minutes," said a Templar crewmen.

Nodding Artanis finally looked like the He now believed the Overmind was truly dead and finally relaxed his posture a little bit.

"I truly hope it is so."

Moments later Tassadar, Zeratul and Zerion entered the bridge.

"A truly difficult thing to believe that such a being as powerful as the Overmind to have been killed so easily."

"It is." replied Zeratul.

"No trace is left," stated Artanis. "It is truly Over."

Zerion felt a odd sensation from the Void that sent a shiver down his spine, he did not know what it was but for a mere moment there was a odd ripple in the Void.

"If I did not see it with my own eyes I perhaps would not believe it so. However perhaps it is too soon to celebrate. There are still a great many Zerg on Aiur and if the Overmind is truly defeated then like a Cerebrate should they not also go feral?"

"You make a good point Zerion," said Zeratul. "Let us see if the lesser creatures are still unified under the Overminds control of not."

Artanis nodded turning to one of the Templar bridge crew who was already on it. He scanned the surface of Aiur picking up a considerable amount of data from the Observers scattered all over the planet. His holo-screen split into four images of Zerg running wild attacking the air, trees, rocks and each other. More holo-screens popped on showing the same all over Aiur.

"It finally seems to be over." stated Tassadar in relief.

Everyone simply looked at the screens showing Zerg going mad and attacking their own kind, slaughtering and killing in a mad frenzy.

"It will take time but we must eliminate the Zerg from Aiur before we can start rebuilding." stated Artanis.

"It would be simpler to bombard the Zerg hive clusters from orbit," countered Selendis.

"True," admitted Artanis. "Our forces have incurred significant damaged and losses. We should concerve what we still have."

Tassadar turned to the Executor. "Surely that can wait a short time. I'm sure everyone is exhausted and..."

Next to the Gantrithor a shadowed burst of darkness erupted from the Void bringing with it the Overmind now fully healed and reformed. He raised his right hand forming burning orange psionic energy along its length into a gigantic psi-blade twice his height. In a single motion the Overmind sliced the Gantrithor in half down the middle. Inside the ship everyone was bucked around as the ships gravity and inertia stabilizers failed sending many tumbling around and a emergency warning blared.

Zeratul pushed himself off the floor.

"What was that?"

Artanis stood up. "Scan for any hostiles?" only for his words to be answered by Selendis.

"Brother, Executor it's the Overmind... its back!"

Standing up the Executor looked to a holo-screen to see the Overmind floating beside the now bisected Gantrithor. He then looked to the other bridge crew as they dealt with the heavy damage and the fact the ship was now in two pieces and in a free fall to the planet below as Aiurs gravity well pulled at them. A holo-screen blinked on showing Haruka.

"Executor your ships been cut in half! I highly suggest you get out of there."

One of the Templar crewmen turned to the Executor as he gave Tassadar a glance as it was his ship. With reluctance Tassadar nodded as the reality of their failure and the loss of his ship hit Tassadar simultaneously.

"We Must, evacuate," was all Tassadar could say before storming out quickly followed by the others.

Templar and crewmen of the Gantrithor teleported off the ship to the surface below. Still in orbit the Overmind attacked the Duel Khala/Void Blaster Pylons destroying all of them before attacking the remaining Terran and Templar ships as they warped away or fled to the planets surface. The batthered Gjallarhorn and few remaining Dominion ships along with Selendis Carrier and several others hovered over the Terran base north of the now destroyed Hive cluster.

Once its enemies were broken and scattered the Overmind focused on regaining control of the Zerg all across Aiur. It had intentionally released its control on them when it blinked through the Void to another starsystem to make it's faked death more believable while it regenerated. On the surface of Aiur at the gathering of Terran and Templar alike both Fenix and Ko'toss arrived after fending off nere constant attacks from the Zerg in other regions to keep them from enterfearing in the battle with the Overmind.

Tassadar, Zeratul, Zerion, Selendis, Haruka, Artanis, Raynor, Fenix and Ko'toss all gathered in a Terran command center.

"We've failed!" stated Tassadar his voice a mix of frustration, anger and sorrow, clenching his fists.

"Damn this sucks. How did the Overmind survive your attack?" questioned Raynor.

"I do not know?" said Zeratul. "The attacks of our combined Khala and Void energies were in deed far more damaging to the Overmind then any other, but yet it survives?"

"Perhaps it warped away at the last second?" suggested Selendis.

Zerion spoke up.

"If the Overmind has indeed absorbed the essence of both Templar and Dark Templar then perhaps it can also manipulate both Khala and Void energies. The Overmind even before doing so could open giant warp gates connecting whole worlds. Perhaps it warped away to another solar system moments before the Gantrithor's attack struck it knowing that it would be fatal."

Several others nodded accepting the explanation.

"So what are we going to do now?" asked Raynor.

There was silence for a moment.

"Come own" said Raynor. "Surely you can get another ship rigged with the same weapon?"

Artanis turned to Raynor. "Friend Raynor though we could, we simply don't have time to do so. Now that the Overmind knows of our new weapon it will not let us create another. We... can not continue to fight a losing battle." Artanis looked down looking like he felt defeated. "If we continue to fight here then we will only lose further lives needlessly, and without purpose."

Tassadar spoke up. "I know how your feel Raynor. All of us have sacrificed much to get to this point alone, but. We must retreat to conserve our power so that the next time..."

"What if there is no next time!" spoke Haruka leaning against the wall.

Everyone turned to the confirmed Zerg each with their own look of distrust and caution of here.

"Tassadar. Executor Artanis. Do the two of you really think the Overmind will let you leave here alive now that it knows you have a means of killing it for good. No it will chase you down and kill everyone here if your run. It's just biding its time for the moment as it regains control over the Zerg across Aiur."

Selendis scoffed distrustfully.

"Why should we believe you?"

Haruka sighed. "First things first. I was born a Human, that's what Terrans called ourselves hundreds of years ago, and later after dying became a Zerg by choice."

"So your like Kerrigan and Nova then?" spoke Raynor not sure how he should feel.

"Not exactly no. " Haruka replied. "Im of a different kind of Zerg. To be exact i'm a 3rd generation brood queen from the Azure swarm."

"Azure swarm?" questioned Tassadar.

"Raynor, do you remember in history class of the alien war that hit Earth hundreds of years ago?"

Everyone turned to Ryanor.

"Uh, yeah. It was vague part of history class. What relevance does that have here?"

"Do you know what the name of the alien race that attacked Earth was,"

"No. They never said. It was a short part of the history class. But it was a significant time in Human history as there was many changes to the Earth at the time after the war including the development of a fully fledged space industry. That's how Humans got into space colonization and eventually sent the colony ships that would eventually settle the Koprulu sector. But what does all that have to do with this?"

Everyone now turned to Haruka.

"Well the alien race that attacked Earth back then were Zerg."

"What!" softly exclaimed Raynor in disbelief.

Tassadar, Zeratul, Fenix and Ko'toss, were greatly surprised by this information but Zerion, Selendis and Artanis all just shared a knowing look between each other. Haruka continued.

"To be specific a Zerg Behemoth that attacked the Protoss colony A'rul at the edge of Protoss controlled space was transported across the galaxy to Mars, the forth planet in the Earth's solar system. It did so while chasing Protoss fleeing the Zerg attack on their colony. I'll leave the details for later but suffice to say the luminous one the Overmind mentioned before encountered the Zerg on Earth and took control of them. Which lead to the war and then to now. If she hadn't took over the Zerg then perhaps Earth would have fallen to the swarm back then, and history would have been very different."

"Perhaps?" questioned Raynor. "I may not have learned a lot from that bit in history class but I do remember reading that BILLIONS of people died because of the war."

Haruka looked at Raynor seeing the emotions raging inside of him.

"I understand how you feel Raynor. I really do. But to get to the point. What i'm saying is that we still have a trump card to play."

"And what would this trump card be?" questioned Tassadar.

Haruka turned to Zerion then to Selendis and lastly to Artanis. "I'm talking about the Empress of the Azure Swarm. Ellen."

For a moment Raynor couldn't speak or breath, He shook his head looking Haruka in the eyes. "Ellen was the one who took control of the Zerg that attacked earth back then."

"Yes and before you ask anything more, know that she will explain her on own reasoning when you meet her next." Haruka looked up to the ceiling. "Which is soon. She's already here."

In low orbit the Overmind stood as if standing atop all of Aiur, dominant over all things, feeling supremely confident in its power. Then a warpgate opened in high orbit thousands of miles above the Overminds head. From the white maw of the warp gate came a absolutely massive structure a hundred miles long and tens of miles wide. It's shape was like that of a obsidian black rod with a spiral weave of root or branch like tendrils at each end that coiled together into a cone like structure. The tendrils at one end being longer but thinner, and the tendrils at the other side were shorter but thicker. The main body and the tendrils all had a spiral gran pattern that weaved along its whole surface and glowed a vivid-azure blue glow. The structure shifted it's orientation aiming directly at the Overmind who regarded the structure with aggression.

"So... Luminous one. Your finally come to challenge me."

Deep within the structure's core chambers Ellen sat upon a massive throne of Ragnite crystal wearing a obsidian colored version of her praetorian symbiote armor. The room was naturally illuminated and covered in highly refined Ragnite crystals mimicking the control room in the Tamashī no ki (tree of souls). But while the crystals in that prototype was a place holder and experiment, these Ragnite crystals were the real thing greatly amplifying all psionic power hundreds if not thousands of times over. And the structure itself was a more developed version of the Tamashī no ki (tree of souls).

"Yes oh Overmind. This is the day I take the full mantle of Master of the Zerg from you." Ellen projected.

Ellen stood up from her throne walking to the rooms center.

"I've been content to let the others have their time and fight with all their might to defeat you, but it seems My hand was always going to be forced. Perhaps I should have activated Kerrigan and Nova sooner? Oh well nothing to do now."

The Overmind growled at the mention of the one that made His ascension possible.

"What do you know of my child?"

Ellen crossed her arms shrugging.

"Hah. If you don't know then It doesn't matter. I intend to end you here and now."

Ellen walked to the other side of the room hopping down a deep shaft. She slide down several hundred meters until dropping into a massive chamber with a large cylinder shaped cocoon extending from one end to the other. She continued to fall landing on the cocoon. She bounced off the cocoon as it started splitting down the middle like a seam being ripped open. Drifted away slowly Ellen watched as the cocoon opened. Within the massive cocoon floated a obsidian black, draconic shaped creature curled into a fetal position.

"Ok big guy time to wake up, project D is a go."

At Ellen's words the multiple eyes of the creature opened, three on the head, three on the chest and three along each limb allowing for complete 360 degree vision. With a creaking sound the creatures long-thin but armored tail pulled away and the arms extended outwards, reaching out to grasp the walls of the chamber. The legs extended slightly showing their digitigrade joint structure, and the short vestigial wings on the back flexed and stretched along with the tail, body neck and head. The creature was without a doubt a dragon by all rights given its shape and theme. But its head had no horns and its tail was long and thin although it and the whole body were covered in long thin interlocking stripes and thick plates of armor that made it look more a knight in armor then a creature, and its humanoid torso, neck, arms and hands only made it look more like one.

With the creature fully exposed Ellen extend a aura tendril to the back of its neck pulling her-self to its surface. Once on the Dragon-Knight creature Ellen moved to a specific armor plate along the upper spine and lifted it with multiple aura tendrils exposing a organic iris like hatch. Opening and entering the hatch Ellen floated down a tight shaft into a spherical chamber ten feet across. Floating in the chamber Ellen extended her symbiote armor's wings and tail into slots along the walls behind her anchoring her in place and mentally connecting with the creatures mind. Instantly the creatures eyes dilated more and a azure glow emanated from the cracks and folds between its armor plating and eyes. Data from all of the eyes and sensory organs along its body projected their data into the core control center transforming its dark surface into a 360 degree view of the surroundings. The data included multiple spectrums of light and radiation, gravitational waves, mass sensors, psionic energy types and levels and more.

Ellen closed the plates and openings and moved her left hand up to her face flexing her fingers and the Draconic-Zerg-Knight-(DZK) moved mimicked the movement. Ellen flexed her head side to side and the DZK did the same. She stretched her whole body and the DZK extended its limbs pushing against the walls of its chamber. She then pushed off the upper side of the chamber and crouched into one half of it opening a warpgate that took up the whole front wall of the chamber and with one push of it's legs the DZK pushed itself through the warpgate. Exiting one hundred miles from the Overmind the (DZK) stopped itself using its innate psionic power and reoriented itself so the Overmind was below it.

In a momentary warp the Overmind appeared in front of the DZK.

"Is this mindless toy supposed to be your weapon little one!" the Overmind mocked.

Ellen scoffed looking through the HUD wall and telepathically through the DZK's eyes.

"Sticks and stones will break my bones but week banter like that will never hurt me..."

Ellen pulled back the DZKs left arm extending the short wings. That instant the DZKs body changed producing a shimmering blue aura skin over it's whole surface forming into more distinct features, eight long thin horns extended from the top and back of the head, a thicker skin over the tail, long spiky armor plating along the elbows, knees, shoulders, the tip of the tail and along the back. And from the short stubby wings extended flexible cloth like wings of aura that were over twice the DZKs height. The DZK now looking like a ethereal Dragon of energy and light accelerated forwards with stardust like thruster exhaust shooting from its wings edges. In a fraction of a second the DZKs psi-armor reinforced and aura armored fist slammed into the Overminds head sending Him flying backwards. Extending its arms the Overmind stopped facing the DZK, with a severe crack long his head armor. The Injury quickly healed but it was a wake up call to the Overmind that this opponent was on a different level than the Terrans or Templar relying on their ships.

This was a living creature that was both a warmachine and a suit of armor for the creature inside. Still the Overmind was confident as the injury was only physical. The damage the combined energies of the Khala and Void did was more severe then this. Still the Overmind was cautious as He knew that Ellen still had more tricks up her sleeve. But for now the Overmind felt like cutting loose.

"Impressive... Now show me your true power false ruler of the Zerg." Bellowed the Overmind as it backed off holding its hands to its sides.

From its palmes formed psionic orbs like the ones fired at the Terran/Templar fleet. The orbs left the hand and started orbiting around the Overmind each replaced by another and another quickly forming a ring as they rotated around the Overmind. Then each started firing a rapid fire barrage of smaller orbs like a machine gun. Ellen boosted around the Overmind avoiding the attacks. In the DZKs hands formed azure orbs. More of the orange orbs orbiting the Overmind started firing increasing the number of projectiles that needed to be dodged. Ellen back flipped the DZK downwards and to the right flicking the thin tail in front to deflect the volley of orbs. Then as one of the orbs in the DZKs hands grew large enough Ellen pointed it at the Overmind firing a heavy aura beam striking the Overminds shield. The orb grew smaller as its energy was used up. But before that could happen Ellen threw the other orb into the stream of the first. Their power combined and the fully formed orb smashed through the Overminds shield creating a massive explosion and flash of psionic power like a solar flare.

On Aiur's surface everyone gathered outside. Marines, Zealots, Goliaths, Reavers, Wraith, Kestrel, Scout pilots all watched at the knight sky was illuminated in a massive flash of azure light. Outside the Terran Command center, Tassadar and the others stood heads craned skywords watching the flash subside.

"The power of that explosion easily equaled that of the Overminds" stated Tassadar.

"Ellen always is impressive when she's at her best." said Haruka. "Though I wonder if shes ever really used 100% of her full power." Haruka thought to her self.

Off to the side Artanis, Selendis and Zerion stood together all remembering their encounter with the empress of the swarm hundreds of years ago. They were different people back then, younger and less experienced in the ways of the world. They could never accept Ellen's methods and reasons for slaughtering her own people but at the same time they knew that the Empress of the Swarm could be trusted, to a extent anyway. And here they are again relying on her, but this time to save their species home world and the very galaxy. The three old friends fully understood that Ellen had her own vested interest in defeating the Overmind but could also sense that for whatever reason that she was truly fighting to help them also.

"Quit a light show," said Raynor. His earbud radio buzzed.

"Raynor are you seeing the fight in orbit?" asked Horner on the Hyperion.

"Yes Matt i'm seeing it."

As Raynor said that multiple streams of orange and blue light criss crossed the sky as the sources moved, passing in front of the moon and to the other side as they streaked through the sky firing attacks at one another.

"You think we could give whoevers fighting the Overmind a hand?" asked Matt.

Raynor saw the light sources zigzagging and speed around so fast it seemed like they were moving a good fraction of the speed of light, and then one or both would suddenly disappear and reappear hundreds of miles away firing light speed beam attacks at each other.

"No Matt I think Ellen has this one on her own." said Raynor.

"Ellen?" You mean that Sons of Korhal agent you meet on Tarsonis?" Horner asked in question.

"It's a long story Matt. I'll explain if we have time later."

Fenix and Ko'toss both watched with the others as the battle in orbit continued. But for a moment Fenix's imagination was sparked and his desire for a battle as epic and grade as this one grew.

Back in orbit Ellen flipped the DZK avoiding a beam shot aimed at the DZKs head. The wings being non material simply flexed up and expended their thruster exhaust accelerating the DZK at the Overmind while maneuvering into a better orientation. In a flash of blue particles the DZK boosted away at thousands of kilometers per hour. The Overmind from hundreds of miles away fired dozens of burning orange beam shots as He attempted to pin the DZK down from a distance. But Ellens skill the DZKs manuverability and aura armor ensured that what shots hit were only glancing blows. The DZK continued its acceleration towards the Overmind flexing its wings up and down to evade in bursts of movement. Then the Overmind warp blinked right in front of the DZK like He did the Gantrithor forming his psi-blade again. The Instant the Overmind appeared Ellen moved the right arm extending its elbow aura spikes into blades catching the Overminds attack. The Overmind using its greater bulk and force pushed the DZK back grabbing its neck with His other arm.

In his palm The Overmind formed a psi-orb to attack at point blank range. Sensing this Ellen flexed the DZKs tail extending a stabbing blade of aura from its tip impaling the Overminds arm. The aura blade on the tail expanded wider slicing the arm in half. Now freed Ellen pulled the severed hand off and counter attacked, wrapping the tail around the Overminds waist and grabbing onto its head. With both arms Ellen forced the Overminds giant mouth open and started charging up a beam attach in the DZKs own mouth. The severed hand flew back to the sump and reconnected, the Overmind now with two hands again grabbed onto the arms of Ellen's bio-construct and pulled attempting to pull them off. But the psi-armor reinforcement muscles and aura armor made such brute force attempt impossible. The DZKs arms held fast easily forcing the Overminds mouth open. The DZKs mouth opend, the psi-orb within floated a few meters outside expanding rapidly, becoming larger and larger, until Ellen discharged the energy. A brilliant silver blue beam sliced straight through the Overminds throat, blasting out the back of its head, expanding wider and wider until it vaporised the Overminds whole upper torso.

With just the tips of the Overminds upper and lower jaws left in its claws the DZK floated away leaving the remains of the torso and now severed arms to float away. Looking at the severed jaws and the body Ellen could easily tell that the Overmind still wasn't dead and even now regenrated albeit much slower then before.

Ellen thought a moment.

"Heh. As expected the Overminds a hard one to keep down. If this keeps going He's just going call in his swarm for help finish me and the others off." The DZK turned towards the surface of Aiur. "I could use some help from Tassadar and Zeratul for this. Don't want to steal the show from under their feet completely now do I."

As the Overminds body recovered from the catastrophic damage Ellen entered the atmosphere. Like a blazing asteroid the DZK screamed over the Terrans base where everyone had gathered. The flame and smoke of reentry faded and Ellen landed the DZK just outside the Command center much to everyone's surprise. As the DZK kneeled Ellen saw that Tassadar, Zeratul, Fenix, Selendis, Artanis, Zerion and the purifier that would have become Talandar were all present along with Raynor.

"Wow! everyone looks so cool all together, like little collectibles hehe," said Ellen's inner fangirl. Some people raised a eyebrow at that as Ellen blushed realising she had projected that aloud. "Err-(cough, cough) Anyway, Tassadar, Zeratul I could use some help finishing the Overmind off."

Stil surprised and if a little bit intimadated by the giant creature Tassadar took a second to responed.

"Hmm your this Zerg Empress Haruka mentioned?"

"Yes. Im the Valkyrur Ellen, Empress of the Azure Swarm."

"Valkyrur?" questioned Zeratul.

"I'll explane in full later. For now I'll keep the Overmind occupied while you all create more of those Void Pylons and combind them with reguler Pylons like you did before, I just need the Pylons not the, Blaster Pylons was it, A interesting idea. How came up with that?"

Sensing his turn Artanis steaped forwards unfearing the massive DZK looming over him.

"They were my idea. And what purpose would they serve you?"

Liking Artanis courage Ellen smiled to her self.

"Really then... a impressive act of innovation Artanis, or should I say Roken."

Artanis felt slightly uncormfortable with the mention of his former name. Ellen continued.

"As for what I'll do with them. Im using them as ammo to kill the Overmind. Prolonging this battle will only work in the Overminds favor."

Agreeing reluctantly Artanis nodded.

"I am in agreement. Tassadar, Zeratul let us create the tools to end this, even if we are not the one to use them."

"Very well then. But there are questions that I would like answered once all this is over." said Tassadar giving Ellen a final glance.

"Good." said Ellen. "Now it's my turn to keep the Overmind busy until they are finished."

Ellen turned the DZKs head up to the sky as a dozen, dozen burning orange beams fell from the sky. Extending the DZKs arms and wings Ellen produced a expanding aura barrier that completly blocked the Overminds orbital barrage. Retracting the aura Ellen warped back into orbit. The Overmind now fully healed rapidly spun round producing a psi-blade and in a instant blinked in front of the DZK. Ellen boosted away just in time as the blade swung sensing that there was far more power in this one the the last. Matching the output the DZK emitted two blades from its elbows, boosting towards the Overmind. Their blades clashed and held firm as the two pushed against the other. Then flexing the DZKs wing thrusters Ellen spun around slashing the Overminds midsection. The Overmind rotated its body raising a leg to kick the DZK away. Spinning back around he aimed the psi-blade at Ellens constructe and releashed the energy. The highly focused psi-blade at last pierced the aura skin covering the DZK. Ellen groned in pain as the neural feed back sent the damage signal to her brain.

"Ah! So you've figered out how to get through my aura huh!" said Ellen with a grin. "Well right back at you!"

The DZKs tail aimed at the Overmind extending its aura skin at light speed slicing him in half. The two halves quickly pulled back togather again.

"I tire of this game." bellowed the Overmind.

Raising both arms the Overmind produced large psi-claws from each hand, and from the Eye on His back formed a orb of psionic energy. It moved in between the claws and eye and changed shape taking the form of a golden orange ring just over the eye but in between the claws on the Overminds back with eight wings extending from its center.

Ellen's eyes widened shocked at what the Overmind had done. "Now your trying to mimic my aura. Your really are a pain."

Contracting the elbow blades Ellen poured more power into the DZKs aura armor reinforcing it further. Both the Overmind and DZK boosted towards each other slashing and hacking. Their claws and blades bounced off each other as the energies repulsed each other. The two titans boosted away through space pursuing each other in a game of letal tag. One chasing the other and switching roles as they maneuvered around, each trying to gain the advantage. Both warping or blinking around the other in a attempt to do crippling damage to gain a advantage over their opponent. Particles of stardust and flecks of armor and body parts were scattered over Aiur's orbit as the battle dragged on as the two cut into each other. Multiple times Ellens, DZKs aura armor was pierced and cut through as was the Overmind as they continued their battle relentlessly. The DZK fired multiple streams of aura bolts. The Overmind formed a smaller thicker barrier blocking the attack and countered boosting right at it the DZK. The DZK boosted downwards and flipped around, spin kicking. The Overmind was sent flying but simply blinked behind the DZK slamming into it.

The core control chamber shook from the impact.

"Gah! he's getting better at this as we fight." thought Ellen. "I still need to by Tassadar and the others time to get the ammo ready so I have to keep dragging this out just a little more."

As Ellen thought that she could feel the Overmind trying to get its psionic feelers passed Her mental defenses and read her mind or worse. It was taxing to keep fighting both a physical and mental war at the same time but Ellen was still far from reaching her limit.

The DZK opened its mouth firing a thin concentrated aura beam. Flipping backwards the Overmind dodged and blinked below Ellen's position, firing a counter attack. Ellen maneuvered the DZK out of the path of the beams while reaiming the still projecting aura beam at the Overmind. Using its psi-claws the Overmind blocked the beam. Ending the thin aura beam Ellen boosted the DZK into the Overmind pushing it into Aiur's atmosphere and opened a warpgate. The two disappeared, reappearing a mile over a plateau several miles from the remains of the Overminds hive cluster and fell. Expanding its wings the Overmind stopped its descent with the DZK still latched onto it. The DZKs tail slashed in rapid precise movements cutting off the Overminds legs and arms at their base. Ellen increased the output of the DZKs wing boosters pushing the Overmind into the surface. With a loud twamp a giant dust cloud erupted from the impact zone and was illuminated as the DZK flew up a mile. Through the dust and smoke Ellen could clearly see the Overmind on the ground.

"I've had enough of that pulling yourself back together trick." said Ellen as the DZK formed five giant aura spears in the air around itself. "Lets see if you can do it pinned to the ground."

The five spears launched down wards impaling the Overminds torso and limbs scattered about the plateau. Ellen then landed the DZK right over the Overmind and projected her aura over the stumps of the Overminds limbs preventing new ones from regrowing. The Overmind struggled a moment before blasting the DZK with psionic blasts but it and Ellen withstood the attacks. A moment later a Templar five Shuttles flew over head.

"Ellen, the paired pylons are ready." projected Tassadar.

Ellen looked at the shuttles with a serious expression. "Right, I got them."

The DZKs wings projected five aura ribbons that grabbed onto each of the Shuttles pulling them to its self. As the Shuttles floated around it, the aura ribbons split into smaller tendrils that pulled from each Shuttle a Pylon infused with both Khala/Void energy. As the Pylons were revealed the Overmind summoned a swarm of Mutalisks and Scourges from across Aiur, but in a fraction of a second the DZK shot countless aura spikes in all directions. In seconds all of the Mutalisks and Scourges were dead and the DZK formed aura casing around each of the Pylons lower halves like a bullet casing, and then formed a revolver from the aura as well. The Overmind fired psi-blasts at the Pylons only to be blocked by the DZKs wing aura. Ellen could sense the Overmind trying to blink away but the aura spears were blocking it. Knowing it was time to end this Ellen loaded the shells into the revolver and spun the cylinder aiming it at the Overmind.

"I feel like saying something here? But no," thought Ellen as she pulled the trigger.

With each pull of the aura constructs trigger a pylon was launched. The Overmind formed a last shield only for it to be easily piercing, the pylon infused with the power of both the Khala and Void pierced into the Overminds flesh releasing its energy. At the point of impact the Overminds flesh charred and burned before vaporising into ashes. Ellen fired another shot and the damage spread even faster until the Overminds chest was a gagping black hole.

"What the!"

It was at that moment Ellen felt something was off, as the hole was seemingly hollow. Fearing the worst Ellen expanded her incorporeal Aura to its full range that when enhanced by the DZK reached tens of miles. But it didn't have to reach that range for Ellen to sense the problem. Just a hundred meters below the Overminds dissolving body was the eye and claws from the Overminds back. They had separated from the main body and burrowed just as Ellen shot the Pylon bullets into the main body. The Overmind instantly sensed Ellen's aura and attempted to blink away to another star system like it had before. But again it was blocked from doing so by Ellen's aura. The Overmind burrowed deeper and deeper to get out of the range of Ellen's aura. Ellen sensing the Overminds position simply smiled and projected aura tendrils deep underground. The ribbons of solid aura grasped onto the Overmind and pulled it back up. As the main body of the Overmind dissolved the remaining Eye and claws erupted from underground, pulled along by ten thin tendrils that slammed it into the plateau. Ellen aimed the giant aura-revolver at the pinned Overmind and fired. As the Pylon bullet flew through the air the Overmind discarted the claws structures that were holding it down, the Pylon shell just slamming into the claws as the last vestige of the Overmind fled into the sky.

Ellen watched as the Overminds true eye shaped core started leaving her sight range.

"Damn! you are hard to kill, but i've had enough of this playing around also."

Ellen discarded the aura-revolver re-forming it into a double tipped lance bident with each of the two remaining Pylons at the two tips. DZK grasped the lance bending both legs and pulling back a moment throwing it skywords. Sensing the incoming threat the Overmind started firing beams at the bident lance. Remotely controlling it with her incorporeal aura Ellen rapidly maneuvered the lance around and in between the beams. The lance rapidly closed in on the Overmind as He neared the maximum limit of Ellen's aura, but looked to be falling short. And if the Overmind left the auras range He would quickly blink away and escape. Knowing this Ellen shifted the lances shape opening concentric rings along the shaft, and like with the DZKs aura wings expelled aura-particle like thrust. Instantly the lance accelerated surpassing mach 9. Now desperate to escape the Overmind started zigzagging in attempt to evade the lance. But because He was inside Ellens aura she knew exactly how He and the lance were moving relative to each other in all 3d directions and course corrected the lances trajectory perfectly. Then in one last ditch attempt to flee the Overmind turned around firing a heavy beam at the lance but the moment He did Ellen opened a warp gate infront of the lance, transporting it just below the Overmind. The lance impaled the Overminds core and instantly started dissolving Him.

Using the last of His fading power the Overmind projected a word of warning.

"Empress of the Swarm, know this. The great enemy is not your only opponent as the Parasite also lives, and will perhaps be the Zergs greatest threat. It is a time- less thing and is the legacy of the Ones that came before the Xel'naga. It is both a threat and a test left by them. But worse them the Parasite is the dark one whom even now watches from the shadows. I now fade but the swarm will live onn, as I have always intended."

The Overminds form dissolved into ashes before exploding in one last flash of power leaving no traces.

With the Overmind finally defeated Ellen breathed a sigh of relief.

"Parasite? The Ones that came before the Xel'naga? The Overmind must have meant the Flood. And as for the Dark Ones? that must be Amon."

Ellen looked up just as the first fleeing glints of sunlight peeked over the edge of Aiur's horizon.

-Chapter End-

Note

Finally done with the Starcraft 1 Arc. Now for Brood War, or rather what will replace It as everything after this is going to be quit different then the original story, but may have some converging events.

Im glad to have put another Main Arc behind me. Now only the Brood War/Halo/RWBY Arcs remain.
