Hi guys.
I"m so sorry it's taken me a while to update. In the spirit of full transparency - I have not been in a writing mood. Between work and school and then the world being a mess, I just wasn't up for it. But you guys have been so patient and understanding, and I appreciate you. As you can see, I finally managed to collect my thoughts and finish. (Shout out to my bby Molly for coming up with ideas with me and helping me out of my writing rut).
Also, I will warn you all now that this story really is coming to a close soon. But I'll still be around, I promise. Honestly let me know if I should write another story with this pairing. Me and homegirl Molly have brainstormed some stuff with these two, so...we shall see.
Okay enough with this note. I present to you Chapter 33 of Better Circumstances.
Enjoy xo
Better Circumstances
Thirty-Three
The next month was pretty hectic, and both Olivia and Edgar had forgotten how stressful it could be to move place.
Between their work schedules, it took a good couple weeks for Olivia to actually pack up her apartment. She wasn't necessarily doing it all on her own though, as the squad came over to help when they could in between their own busy lives, and of course Edgar was around to help in between his own work schedule. Even Lucy chimed in to help as she and Noah would work together on the days that she was babysitting. Olivia just happened to forget how stressful and time consuming the whole moving process was, which was apparent when she had to make multiple trips back to her apartment to grab all the packed-up boxes. She had just decided to drive her things over to Edgar's apartment because she had refused to pay the outrageous price for movers in the city.
After she and Noah managed to get things moved in and set up at Edgar's apartment was when she went about getting all the necessary forms for change of address and emergency contacts and other important documents. After all, now that she and Noah were living with Edgar, she had to not only go about changing her address in various places, but also on her important documents for work and the documents for Noah's school. Of course, changing her address and emergency contacts with One Police Plaza had more or less led to her bosses now knowing about her relationship with an attorney, which meant for Edgar that he could no longer try Manhattan SVU cases. Not that he had any plans to do so anyway. In fact, he didn't plan on trying any SVU cases from any borough. Other than the stress of moving, things had been going pretty well as Olivia and Edgar's relationship continued to strengthen, as did his bond with Noah.
Tonight, was Friday night; a pretty chill night in their family apartment. It had gotten pretty late; Noah was already in bed and fast asleep while Olivia was tidying up a little bit as there were still a couple boxes that needed to be unpacked and such. Edgar was in his study, working on some paperwork as he had a pretty big case coming up.
A knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. He clicked around on his laptop and continued writing things down while calling out; "Come in!"
The door opened and he looked up, and he smiled; there was his beautiful Olivia, looking stunning in just a simple pair of leggings and a t-shirt. She was holding a cold bottle of beer she slowly made her way over to him. She handed him the bottle while giving him her breathtaking smile; "I know you're stressed, so…breathe and take a drink."
Edgar chuckled as he popped the cap on the beer. He took a small sip, then put the bottle at the far edge of his desk as to avoid possible spillage. He then held a strong arm out for her, and she gave him a small smile as she sat herself down on his lap. Edgar tenderly stroked his fingers against her hip; "I promise as soon as this case closes – hopefully sometime in the next week – that I will be more present with you and Noah."
"Don't beat yourself up, honey…" she pecked his lips while giving him a smile; "Besides, I can't say that I was any better than this last week; remember?" She rolled her eyes, and Edgar chuckled as well as she wasn't exactly lying, since last week she had been on a case for three days straight and came home beyond stressed and tired. At least that was the one thing about being together; they both had highly stressful jobs and both were able to understand that there would be times like this.
He kissed her cheek then simply gave her a smile, which she returned. She then stood up and moved around to the back of his chair, then began gently massaging his neck and shoulders. Whether it was due to her soothing touch or just her presence as a whole, Edgar felt the tension starting to leave his body. He rolled his shoulders a little then tilted his head back to look up at her; "How'd you know I needed this?"
Olivia let out a little laugh; "Sweetheart, that tension I felt was insane. You definitely needed this."
"You have the magic touch, Ms. Benson." he smirked as he gave her a look. She shot him a playful look in response. She then slid her hands from his shoulders and down his chest as she leaned down a little and kissed his cheek. Her luscious hair spilled over her shoulder and tickled the side of his face as she leaned her head towards him, and with her hands on his chest like this, he certainly felt a certain stirring in his body.
Olivia kissed his cheek a couple more times stood up properly; "Finish up here; I'll be in our room if you need me."
"Okay…" he felt her start to walk away, so he grabbed her wrist to pull her back; "Come here first."
He stood up then, and before she could even respond, he had leaned down and kissed her. His large hand cupped her jaw, his fingers twisted into her hair, and the other hand was on her waist. She let out a little moan as her own fingers curled into the hem of his t-shirt, while her tongue slid into his mouth to dance with his own. He briefly sucked her tongue, which caused another small moan to bubble from her throat.
They pulled away after a few moments and simply stared at each other for a moment. Edgar licks his lips and smirked, while Olivia let out a breath as she tilted her head to look into his eyes properly. She was a little flushed, and he had to chuckle as he loved knowing that he had this effect on her.
"I'll come to bed soon." He quietly replied. He then leaned in and placed a quick kiss to her forehead, and she shot him a wink before turning and walking away. She swayed her hips as she walked, and she could feel his burning gaze on her. She could picture it; his deep brown eyes glued to her hips while his bottom lip was drawn in between those pearly white teeth.
Of course, she was right; he was watching her in that exact manner. His eyes roamed over her body and stopped at those swaying hips, and he bit his lip as she left the room. He let out a breath then sat down in his desk chair again. That woman drove him crazy in the best way, and he loved her.
He worked for another hour before deciding that enough was enough and that it was time for bed. He shut off his computer and put his files away, then slipped out of his study. He first poked his head into Noah's room to check on him, though he had to laugh when he saw that Noah had kicked the covers off and was laying sideways on his bed. He quietly went in and maneuvered him around so that he was laying properly, then he tucked him back in since it was a little chilly in the apartment due to the air conditioner. He then headed out and closed the door behind him before making his way down the hall to his and Olivia's bedroom.
Olivia was still awake and was reading a book. She did look up when he came in, and she put the book down on her lap; "Finished?"
"I finished all I could finish tonight…" he replied as he took off his shirt, revealing his muscular torso and arms. He turned to head towards his en suite so he could brush his teeth and so on, but he had to smirk when he realized that Olivia was staring him up and down. When he saw her eyes wander towards his crotch, he chuckled a little; "Eyes up, Captain."
"I'm sorry…" she shrugged as she looked back at him; "It's just…been some days…between our work schedules." She gave him a look before returning her attention to her book while humming to herself.
Edgar practically raced into the bathroom and brushed his teeth, and before long he was flicking off the en suite light and returning to the bedroom. Olivia looked up over her glasses at him, and she smirked a little when she saw him cross the bedroom to his door. She heard the click of the lock, and she simply put her book aside along with her glasses. Edgar joined her in bed and pulled her towards him, and within seconds, Olivia found herself pinned beneath him as her thighs fell open.
"What was that you said?" he smirked, his tone was so deep and rich, and it sent shockwaves through her. She draped her arms around him, her nails scratching against his back.
"What did I say? Enlighten me."
"About it being some days since we…you know…because of work…" he leaned towards her and began placing the softest kisses onto her jaw; "Because…I mean…I agree…" he nipped at her ear then moved onto sucking the spot behind her ear that drove her wild. She let out a little moan as her eyes fluttered shut. She felt the bulge pressing up against her through the material of her leggings, and she felt like she was floating already.
"I missed you." She quietly spoke.
"I missed you too, baby." He then lifted his head before kissing her, and she wasted no time in resting one hand on his cheek while the other combed through his curls. He tugged at her leggings, and she groaned as she tightened her grip on him.
Their clothes hit the floor at a rapid pace, and before long Edgar had pushed up into her, filling her completely as she lay beneath him. Her cheeks and chest were flushed with arousal, her eyes were sparkling, and her jaw had dropped as she could feel him throbbing inside her. Roughly seven months into this and she still needed a minute to adjust to him and his impressive size. He kissed her to help her relax, and she shuddered a little as she held onto him.
They made love slowly and gently, taking their time to explore each other's bodies as they had missed each other over the last few days since work had gotten in the way of their sex life. Olivia felt like every nerve in her body was on fire as his fingers danced across her skin and as he kept plunging deeper into her each time. When he hit the spot that made her body sing, her back arched and she gasped while her nails dug into his back. Edgar sucked her neck, marking her as he always did while making love to her. The way she made those little noises for him, the way her muscles sucked him in deeper; she brought him to heights of pleasure that he didn't even know was possible simply during these moments.
Eventually, they rolled over beneath the sheets and she leaned over him, holding her face in his hands as they continued making out. Her hips rolled against him as they kissed, and he groaned into her mouth each time as they brought each other to that sweet euphoria that would drive them both crazy. One hand was gripping her hip while the other was splayed across her back, pulling her in deeper as he thrust upwards in time with the sensual movements of her hips. She bit his lip then pulled away, and she breathed out against his lips before whispering; "God yes…I'm so close."
He squeezed her hip just a little tighter and whispered to her; "Let go, baby; I'm with you."
It seemed that his words sent her over the edge. A spine tingling orgasm consumed her, and Edgar kissed her just in time to muffle the scream that tore from her throat. Fluids trickled down her toned thighs as her muscles fluttered around him, and he groaned loudly as he throbbed against her.
He rolled them over once more beneath the sheets; she looked up at him with a slightly dazed look on her face as their lips parted. He rested his head against hers and began with those powerful thrusts that made her see stars, and she held onto him for dear life. He mumbled a few expletives mixed with her name, and their lips once again fused together to muffle the groan that bubbled from his throat as he finally spilled into her. His release triggered another small one from her, causing her to tremble a little as her nails scratched his back.
The two laid there for a moment, sharing the sweetest kisses while they held each other. Edgar eventually shifted enough to slip out of her, and he rolled to her side as he tried to get his breath back. However, he had to smile when she immediately rolled over to his side, leading him to curl his arm around her as she rest her head on his chest.
After some silence that allowed them to just bask in the aftermath of a powerful session of love making, they eventually began talking quietly while playing with each other's fingers. Olivia didn't miss the way that Edgar kept rubbing his thumb over her left ring finger, but she didn't say anything. However, the small gesture did make her feel extremely giddy inside. She hadn't thought much about things like that before, but with the way she was feeling thanks to this relationship, she wouldn't object to it.
Edgar saw her staring off into space a bit, leading him to squeeze her as he quietly asked; "What are you thinking about?"
Olivia looked at him, and she shot him a smile as she shook her head; "Nothing…just the future…together."
And with that, she kissed him, leading him to reciprocate the kiss as he squeezed her as tight as possible.
A future together – something that seemed to be possible, something that they looked forward to.
The next morning, Edgar woke up to find himself alone in bed amongst the cream-colored sheets. As he sat up and got his bearings, he was met with the sweet smell of waffles and the sound of laughter coming from the kitchen of the apartment. He smiled to himself as he pushed himself up. He wasn't going to hang around in bed too long; he was going to join his two favorite people.
He pulled on his clothes and brushed his teeth, then finally exited the bedroom and made his way down the hall. As he rounded the corner to the kitchen, he had to stop for a moment as he took in the sight before him;
Olivia in her leggings and shirt, Noah in his space themed pajamas; the two of them laughing together as they made waffles for breakfast.
Edgar sighed to himself as a contented smile came across his face. A few weeks into living together and this was already his favorite sight to see. He was grateful that it was the weekend, because he enjoyed their mornings where they could have breakfast as a family. The presence of Noah and Olivia had allowed for this apartment to finally feel like a proper home, and Edgar was forever thanking God that this was the outcome of the chance he had taken that night at the bar after two weeks of not seeing her. He would have never imagined that life could be like this; that he could be so happy and in love – and yet, here they were.
Unable to stand back any longer, he pushed himself up off the doorway and walked up behind them both. They turned at the same time, and the smiles spread across their faces as he heard the jumbled greeting of; "Hi Edgar" and "Morning baby." He ruffled Noah's curls before greeting Olivia with a tender kiss while discreetly squeezing her hip. She shot him a smirk then handed him his coffee; "We're almost done here, so go sit down."
"Edgar, can we have breakfast outside this morning? It's nice and sunny." Noah chimed in, giving him a cheesy smile. Edgar glanced out the window; the sun was certainly shining as bright as could be and the morning skies were the prettiest shade of blue without a cloud in sight. Breakfast outside on their little patio space sounded perfect.
"Sure we can, dude." He replied, giving Noah a quick nudge. Noah nodded and nudged him back, and Edgar let out a chuckle before then leaning around and kissing Olivia's cheek again. He then went to open the patio door, and he took a moment to breathe in the outside air before moving to sit at the little table.
Before long, Olivia and Noah had joined him with breakfast that consisted of waffles and fruit with syrup and Nutella on the side. The three of them ate together like a normal family, and both Edgar and Olivia kept stealing sweet looks and smiles at one another. This was absolutely perfect; the way things should be. Both of them were feeling as though life had finally worked out for them both, and they were excited with how things had progressed between them despite the rocky first meetings. Like Edgar, Olivia too could not believe, nor could she have imagined that life could be like this and that she could be so happy and in love. Yet, here she was.
After breakfast, Noah zoomed inside to take his plate to the sink and to watch some morning cartoons while Olivia and Edgar remained outside for a bit longer, just for a moment. Edgar ended up pulling Olivia into his lap and wrapping his arm around her more, and she had to give him a giddy smile as she stroked her fingers over his cheek.
And as their lips met in the middle for a loving kiss, they both felt the flutter in their hearts.
This was meant to be, and this was forever.
