Chapter 78:
Get Rent
It was exhilarating enough alone being surrounded by all the facilities, all holding a unique challenge of their own.
First up, I would be taking on the Battle Factory. The big blue building felt like it was going to warp me into the future. What would be inside? Palmer told me that I would have to use rentals. I wasn't too keen on not using my own Pokémon; I had grown too attached to them so might as well get this facility over with so that I can get round to using them.
The reception area was overwhelmingly blue. There was a path that led down to the front desk where a black haired woman in a green futuristic dress and beret was waiting. Everything looked like something sci-fi movie.
"Welcome Champion Lucas" she said. "This is the Battle Factory. As you know, the rules here are that you can only use rental Pokémon; your current ones are forbidden. When you go in, you will be supplied with 6; you may choose 3 and take on Thorton with them."
Another woman wearing a similar uniform came out with a trey that had 6 ridges. I put my Pokéballs on it and they were taken away. It felt awkward being separated with my friends, but I knew I would be reunited with them before the end of the day.
Before going onto the battlefield, I was in a large room with glass windows. Behind the glass windows were Pokeballs, all lines up neatly on shelves. They were the rentals.
"Hello Lucas" said the grey haired Scientist. She was in a white labcoat with rectangular glasses. "We will be supplying you with 6 Pokémon now. Hold on."
From a tube above me, I saw some Pokeballs fly through and in front of me onto a table, six to be exact. My selection was;
Altaria, Ampharos, Starmie, Venusaur, Shuckle and Bronzong.
Now this would be an interesting selection, but I knew who I would pick. Ampharos, then Venusaur for a Ground Type counter and Bronzong to take on Grass Types.

"Thorton will be waiting" the woman said, stepping aside to let me through the door.
The battlefield was light blue, helping to keep the futuristic look of the facility. Then, walking onto the Battlefield was Thorton. He had green shorts, a black smart shirt with a blue tie and black hair.
"Urgh, do we have to battle now? I'm busy" he said as he was tapping about on a small machine with a screen, similar to a smartphone. He briefly looked up to me, like a teenager invested in talking to friends. "Oh, come on, the Champion? Now I can't turn him down. Listen Lucas, let's make this quick. I'm in the process of inventing something big."
"Ampharos, go!" I shouted. The yellow Electric Type entered the field.
"Go Aggron!" Thorton shouted. He sent out a large grey Pokémon with a large tail and a white spiky head.
Aggron

"Okay Ampharos, use Discharge!" Ampharos created a deluge of sparks that flickered all around the room. Aggron took it fine enough.
"Aggron, use Double Edge!" Aggron charged at full pelt into Ampharos. Upon impact, Ampharos went flying. When Ampharos landed on the floor, it fainted.
"Ampharos!" I yelled. Aggron hadn't even taken recoil damage. Must be the Ability Rock Head, which prevents it. However, Aggron was paralyzed. Ampharos's Ability was Static, an Ability that might paralyze the opposition upon impact.
"Okay, I choose Bronzong!" I yelled. "Bronzong, use Gyro Ball!" Bronzong span at high speed. It hit, but Aggron's Defense was nothing to sleaze at; it was fine. Thankfully Aggron couldn't move that turn due to paralysis, so I knew it would be a good time to set something up. "Bronzong, Sunny Day!" Bronzong made the sun shine through the Factory windows.
"Aggron, use Fire Punch!" Aggron punched Bronzong with a fiery fist. Bronzong's Ability was Heatproof, which halved damage from Fire moves. Even then though, the sun had boosted its power.
"Solar Beam Bronzong!" Bronzong took in the sunlight, then fired it back at Aggron. It fainted.
"I'm impressed" Thorton said. "Maybe this wasn't an interruption after all, but a sign. Okay, I choose Politoed!" The next Pokémon was green with a swirl on its yellow belly and a small tuft of hair on its head.
Politoed

Poliwag -Lv 25- Poliwhirl -Trade with Kings Rock- Politoed
"Come back Bronzong" I told it, returning the Steel Type. "I choose Venusaur!" The giant quadruped navy Grass Type entered the battlefield, flower blooming wildly in the sun.
"Politoed, use Earthquake!" Politoed jumped up very high. Upon landing on the ground, it made the ground shake. Venusaur had trouble keeping balance but survived.
"Venusaur, Energy Ball!" Venusaur created a green ball in front of itself. It then fired the ball at Politoed for lots of damage.
"Another Earthquake!" Politoed jumped up again, but this one missed.
"Venusaur, Energy Ball!" Venusaur fired another ball of energy at Politoed. It was finished.
"Okay then. Go my final Pokémon, Luxray!" Thorton shouted. "Use Fire Fang!" Luxray's fangs caught fire. Then, it chomped Venusaur with them. Venusaur was down.
"Last chance saloon Bronzong!" I shouted.
"Luxray, Fire Fang!" I am so thankful I had heatproof or else Bronzong would be done so. It barely survived.
"Solar Beam!" Bronzong shot a beam of light at Luxray. Critical Hit! I had won.
"Hmm. Yes, interesting" Thorton said typing on the tablet. "Yes, I believe that battle will contribute to my invention. Sorry for my rudeness earlier. Even without your own Pokémon, you are a fantastic Trainer. I wish you the rest of luck in the Battle Frontier."
"One down, four to go!" I shouted walking out the Battle Factory. "Look out Battle Frontier, I'm coming for you!"
Just then, Thorton ran out of the Battle Factory.
"Glad I caught up to you" he told me panting. "I finished what I was working on, and I think you might find it useful." He handed me the blue tablet he was working on earlier. "This is called a Vs. Seeker. It records matches that you've had at the Battle Frontier, including this one."
"Thanks a lot!" I said, as I looked at the large futuristic building. "This is a great place, but I'll stick to using my own Pokémon."
"I get it" Thorton said, smiling. "So, who's next?"
That's easy; the Battle Arcade.
First things first though, I wanted to re watch today's match on my new device!
