When she woke up she saw sunlight pouring into the cavern, reflecting off the icicles in such a way that it made a rainbow of colors.

"Wow, I didn't think that I would see this again." she thought with a smile. She rose from her makeshift bed and glanced over at the room, wondering if Ashe was awake yet. But when she went to check she heard the soft breath and saw Ashe sleeping, the covers tightly curled around her, facing towards her. She saw that she looked fine, a peaceful expression on her face as her chest rose and fell.

"I'm glad she's ok, I hope we can make it back soon though. The villagers are worried and I don't want them worried anymore." she thought. She turned and went outside and took a deep breath, seeing a fresh blanket of snow layering the ground. It was higher as well, and she shivered wondering if it was sturdy enough to walk on. She hesitated, then slowly took a step flinching as she felt the snow beneath her sink a little. As she took another step she felt it stay and she breathed a sigh of relief. But as she took another step she let out a yell of alarm as it suddenly caved in drowning her in snow.

She walked back into the cave covered in snow and in a more dampened mood than before. As she entered she heard movement in the room and quickly peeked in, seeing Ashe standing there, checking the wound. She glanced up and Selina could see her expression of shock.

"Selina, what in the world happened to you?" She asked.

"I got some herbs for your wound, they should help the healing process," Selina mumbled, dropping the herbs on the bed and turning, quickly going out before Ashe could respond. She went over to the furs she shook herself and grabbed one of the pelts, drying herself off. She heard footsteps behind her and she turned to see Ashe standing there with an amused expression.

"Don't you dare say anything!" Selina growled.

"I wasn't going to," she responded, Selina could tell she was holding back laughter. "Can I just ask who won?" Selina rolled her eyes and pushed past her, making sure her still wet hair hit the woman in the face.

"Hey!" Ashe shouted. Selina ran outside and hopped the snow, making sure to not sink into it again. She glanced over and saw Ashe coming out to her eyes wide with awe.

"Wow," she said. Selina had to admit it was beautiful. The snow shone in the sunlight, and there was ice glistening on the trees above, making it look like the trees themselves were sculpted by ice.

"At least the blizzard cleared up," Selina said. Ashe nodded then to her surprise turned to go back into the cave.

"Wait where are you going?" Selina called running after her. Ashe glanced back.

"I'm going to rest, we should be able to in a few weeks. Do you think you can stitch my wound?" she said. Selina stared at her in shock.

"You don't want to go back to the village?" she asked. Ashe frowned.

"Of course I do."

"So why not go now and let Jerled heal you?" Selina asked. This was ruining her hopes of getting rid of her quickly. Ashe sighed.

"Selina I can barely walk," she said.

"I can help you." Ashe shook her head.

"No, don't forget that you're injured too." She nodded towards Selina's hip and Selina quickly hid it.

"I can still help you, injured or not."

"I appreciate your willingness to help, but you have to take care of yourself. I don't want you to reopen the wound." Selina sighed.

"I'm fine, our main concern is you." Ashe shook her head.

"I'll be fine if we take it easy right now. I want to get back home as much as you do, but we both need to rest here for a few days," she said. Selina sighed. It wasn't that she wanted to get back herself, she just didn't want people to lose hope in Ashe's return.

"Ok, we'll stay here for now. I just don't want people to worry," she said quietly. Ashe gave her a reassuring look.

"It's ok, my tribe can last without me. They are strong. Now did Jerled teach you how to sew a wound closed?" Selina shook her head and Ashe beckoned her to follow her. As they went back into the cave Ashe went over to her room, opening the drawer on the small table and pulling out a needle. "We're missing string." Selina pushed past her and glanced inside with a grim look, she was right.

"I can probably make a string," Selina said sitting down beside her. Ashe glanced over in confusion. "With what?" Selina bit her lip, then reached up and slowly pulled a few strands of hair. She tied them together so that they made one straight strand, then held her hand out. Ashe placed the needle in her hand and Selina nodded. Ashe closed her eyes and turned so that her back was facing towards Selina, pulling the tunic up so that the wound was exposed.

"Just stick the thread and needle in and go over and over into crisscross." Selina took a deep breath then slowly started, sewing the skin back together. She felt Ashe wince a couple of times, but the process didn't take long and soon enough the wound was sewed shut. Selina let out a sigh of relief and gently placed the needle down. Ashe shook her shoulders with a sigh and glanced at her with wonder.

"See not too bad." Selina gave a smile even though she could tell it hurt.

"Now we have to eat, what do you use here for hunting?" Ashe asked standing. Selina stood as well.

"I don't usually hunt, but I did make a spear to catch fish once. I didn't really get any though." Selina admitted.

"That's ok, I think I can use it for land hunting," Ashe said curtly. She started going towards the entrance and Selina grabbed her.

"Maybe you should stay here, for now, I don't want you running off when people are hunting you." Ashe frowned at her and Selina could tell she didn't want to stay. "I can take care of myself you know," she said. "You forced me to stay in bed, now I'm going to force you." Ashe groaned.

"Fine, but just this once." She walked back into the room and lay down and Selina watched as she fell asleep almost immediately. Selina turned, grabbing the spear lying beside the entrance and walking out into the snow. "Ok, let's do this."

Selina didn't want to call herself the worst hunter in the world, but it was impossible as she performed a terrible act of throwing a spear. She didn't have the strength that others possessed, and it only made the throws shorter, not even reaching the dumb deers and rabbits she encountered. After missing her fifteenth shot she gave up and went towards one thing she was semi-good at, fishing. She waited above the water watching carefully as a fish went right under the spear...and with one swift motion dug it into the fish, only to find it had swum away and she had only hit the mud. She cursed and tried a few more times, but the fish were just too fast, and only ended up with freezing cold legs. She got out with a frustrated sigh and wondered if she should've let Ashe hunt instead. Ashe clearly had more experience with this kind of stuff. Selina wondered if she should just head back and let Ashe hunt.

"No, I have to do this alone." Selina thought, shaking her head. The plan wouldn't work if Ashe was the one out.

She continued to hunt for a while more but was forced to go back as the sun set. She hadn't caught anything, but a pitiful sparrow for them to share, although she was thinking that Ashe should probably eat. As she made it back she also collected branches and leaves to make a fire. As she entered the cave she was surprised to see Ashe sitting in the snow, staring at a wall unaware that she was back. Selina grew quiet and snuck around her, placing the sparrow in the snow, and sat next to the archer, wondering if she should say something. They sat there for a few minutes before Selina said quietly. "We should eat." Ashe slowly turned around her gaze surprised and distant.

"Oh, you're back," she murmured. Selina nodded and grabbing the branches arranged everything into a pile, then looked around for her fire starter tools. As she got to work she glanced over to see Ashe holding the sparrow with a questioning gaze.

"That was all I could find," Selina muttered. Ashe glanced at her then to the bird before putting it down.

"That's ok, we could probably split it-" Selina quickly cut her off.

"Just eat it, I'm not hungry, here." The fire sprung ablaze, and Selina grabbed the sparrow sticking it into the metal rod and handing it over the fire. Ashe came sitting beside her with a concerned gaze. "Selina you should eat too." Selina handed her the rod and stood up. "That's ok you eat."

"Selina-"

"I'm not hungry," she said, turning and going out the entrance, lost in her thoughts.

She couldn't go on like this, this wasn't supposed to happen. Why in the world was Ashe acting like this to her? It wasn't as if she deserved it! She couldn't stand it, the smiling, the kindness, the sacrifices. She didn't want it, any of it! She thought that she was making it clear that Ashe was more important, but Ashe didn't seem to get it.

"Whatever, I can leave, she should be fine without me and they know about the frostguard now. Everything should be ok." she thought. She went towards the forest, letting out a sigh as she collapsed onto the snow-covered ground exhausted.

"I'll be fine, besides what harm could happen now?" She thought with a smile. She closed her eyes falling asleep almost immediately, only to hear footsteps coming towards her a few hours later. She opened her eyes and looked up...to see Ashe staring down at her with an angry look.

"So you were just going to abandon me," she said. Selina paused then slowly stood up. "That's not-"

Ashe silenced her with a glare. "You claim that you're not hungry, then you just run off?" What is going on with you! "You won't eat, you won't talk, what are you doing?" Selina returned the glare.

"I'm doing all I can!"

"Oh really, and leaving me alone and sleeping out here is giving it your all?" she said sarcastically.

"I like sleeping outside! And you can take care of yourself just fine! " Selina snapped back.

"Really? That's not what you thought when you didn't let me hunt for us."

"I didn't want you to injure yourself running around with an arrow wound in your back!" Selina said desperately.

"I'm not as weak as you think! And why are you sleeping out here?" Ashe said.

"Because it's my home, outside is my home!" Selina snapped, her vision becoming fuzzy.

"You don't have to live out here! You have a home! And if you don't want to live there anymore then you're more than welcome to live in the village!" Ashe said. Selina looked away.

"That's not my home," she muttered. Ashe let out a frustrated groan.

"Why do you act like this?" Selina whipped around. "Like what?"

Ashes eyes flashed. "Like this! Acting as if you have to do everything! Like you don't need help, and you can do everything alone!"

"I can do anything alone." Selina hissed. Ashe glared at her.

"No you can't, yes some things you can, but not everything is about being alone!" Ashe said desperately. Selina didn't want to do this, not in the dark and in freezing cold weather.

"I don't have time for this," she said.

"Then stop running and tell me why you're avoiding me," Ashe said coldly.

"I'm not avoiding you!" Ashe raised her eyebrow.

"Oh really? Don't worry Ashe I'm just going to do everything and not really talk to you about plans while we stay here. Oh sorry, Ashe I just ran off without telling you whether I'll come back for you or not." Ashe paused. "I was worried."

"You don't have to worry about me," Selina said tiredly.

"Obviously I have to, especially when you run off without saying anything," she said.

"What do you want! You wanted something when you followed me into the woods that night and now you want something again, just tell me what it is!" Selina snapped. Ashe gazed coldly at her.

"I want the truth." Selina stared at her. "What?" she said. Ashe shook her head.

"I want the truth Selina, now. Why do you avoid me? Why do you act like I'm going to stab you in the back, so scared that you walk in the shadows?" Selina felt her legs shaking.

"I don't know." she lied.

"You do know, and I want to too, why do you do it?" Selina shook her head.

"I don't know!" she growled. Ashe took a step towards her.

"Tell me, Selina, why do you hate me?" she said calmly. Selina looked at her in shock.

"I don't!" she said.

"Then why? Why do you hide and act weird whenever you're around me, always on alert as if you're in danger all the time

Selina hissed. "I just need to focus, a lot of people's lives are at stake."

"Am I bothering you?" Ashe asked.

"No! No of course not! I'm sorry that I'm putting distance between us, but the last time I connected to someone I lost them in the end. I can't lose anyone else, and this is the best way." Selina said.

"Selina, you won't lose me. And you don't have to be scared that you will, I'll be fine." Ashe said. Selina looked at her with narrowed eyes. "Can you really make that promise?

"Yes, I can take care of myself, I need help sometimes like everyone, but for the most part I can promise you that I'll be fine." Selina sighed. Part of her wanted to believe Ashe, but it was still risky, especially after she had gotten lost in a blizzard and had almost died. But if she could trust her, then it would make her job a lot easier. "For now. Just need to remember my mission, nothing else matters but that." Selina thought. "Fine, I'll trust you, but let's not get too friendly with each other ok?" Ashe chuckled. "What's so funny?" Selina asked.

"You really need to relax, come one lets head back, I have a feeling that you're going to need hunting lessons." Selina scoffed.

"I do not! I'm a very good hunter." Ashe laughed. "With that sparrow? it could barely feed one!" And for the first time in years, Selina laughed and she felt...happy. "When was the last time I felt this, years ago with my once friends who brought me down?" She shook herself as they walked back together, not caring that Ashe seemed to stay close to her or that she seemed so comfortable in the assassin's presence. "I'll tell her later when we're not in a condition that makes us vulnerable." Selina thought, smiling. Not that she could tell her, Ashe would never let one in so close to her, but oh well.

We need to hurry though, the frostguard are already planning their next move, and if we're not prepared then..." Selina let the thought trail off, not wanting to explore the bleak future if Ashe never came back.
