Hi, guys. I wanted to let you know that this is not the end. I'm sorry I left abruptly, but I've been taking time off to focus on other things. This pandemic is affecting so many people across the world for different reasons, and starting college has not been easy. I hope everyone is hanging in there the best you can. Hopefully, this thing will be over before we know it. We're in this together.

Smurfette laid her hand over her stomach. While she had made up her mind, she couldn't help but feel that everyone more more divided than ever. A good majority supported her, but she knew that there were still some that thought she was jeopardizing her life, their lives, their entire existence. She rolled over in her bed. She wanted Hefty here, to tell her that everything would be okay. But he ushered her out as soon as she finished her statement.

She shouldn't have expected anything less from them. She should have known Smurfwillow would be angry, and Papa would be proud. A bit too proud. Everyone else would be absolutely shocked. But she wasn't holding everyone else's baby.

"How could you let this happen?!"

Hefty pinched the bridge of his nose. "I didn't let anything happen."

Brainy frantically paced back and forth, holding his head. Smurfwillow had gone red in the face. It was a good thing he'd gotten Smurfette out of this when he did. What had started as a heated debate turned into a toxic argument, and he didn't want her near this.

"You could have stopped her!" Smurfwillow argued. She groaned. "You convinced her to keep it, didn't you?"

He shook his head. "I didn't convince her of anything."

"Willow," Papa set his hand on her shoulder. "Perhaps this is a good thing. Us smurfing a new Smurf or Smurfette into the world, giving them a chance - "

"And what if we aren't making the right choice." She pulled away, turning to everyone in the room. "What if this turns out to be a big mistake? What if our entire race is wiped out because of Smurfette's selfish decision?!"

Smurflily gasped. Hefty felt his hands tighten into fists. "Selfish?!"

"Uh oh." Smurfstorm mumbled.

Hefty's breathing grew ragged and sharp. Before he could stop himself, he lunged for the elder Smurfette. Stormy and Lily held him back, Brainy holding his ankles. Smurfwillow jumped back, surprised.

"Do you have ANY IDEA what she's been through?! Do you have any idea what she's dealing with now because of you?!" Smurfstorm pushed at his chest, jerking him back. Smurfwillow stood unflinching, arms crossed over her chest. This only angered him further. He growled. "You're more worried about what might happen to you than to her, or my family!"

"Hefty," She said calmly. "I'm thinking of the entire village. It's easier to assume the worst so we can prepare for it."

"And you assume outright that one of my kids will be evil?"

"Whether or not the baby is evil won't matter," Papa added.

"NOT NOW!" they shouted.

Smurfwillow sneered. "If I have to end that thing's life myself to keep us all safe, I'll do it!"

The color drained from Hefty's face. Everyone in the room had fallen silent again, clearly appalled. He wrestled free from Lily and Stormy's grasp, staring very dangerously at Willow. "Stay away from Smurfette. Stay away from my smurflings."

He stepped closer to her. "Because if I have to end your life to keep my family safe, I'll do it."

She glowered intensely into his eyes, but said nothing. He huffed, turned, and promptly left the hut without a second glance.

Bit of a note: I know I've left this in limbo for a while, and I know you guys love this story. But I promise this is not the end. Please please please bear with me as I navigate college and learn how to manage my time. Also, much longer chapters will be coming out next week.
