Chapter 3: Droids in Distress

Hey everybody! Thank you, guys, so much for the support so far! Never thought this story would go over so well seeing as there are stories like it. From here on out the chapters may not be as long as the original Spark of Rebellion chapters, and there will be more AU elements. There are a couple of episodes from season 1 that probably won't fit to well, but there are a few that I'm very excited about. Hope you guys enjoy this chapter, let me know what you would want to see in reviews!
Disclaimer: All characters are owned by Disney/Lucasfilm.

Specter 6 – I agree that Ezra has been pushed around a bit so far but trust me it's for good reason. One is that he still sees most of the crew as adults that are taking him in, so he's trying to appease them. The second with Sabine taking his armor is to set up something coming up in this chapter that I hope you guys will like!

The timer rings on the training droid that I'm doing blaster deflection with.

Only missed 3 shots this time. 97% blocked or dodged new personal best.

I pull the training droid over to me as I hear Kanan walk up. "You know if you want to deflect blaster bolts you should be using form III, not form IV."

I look over to him with a frown before responding, "I already know form III. Form IV is the last on my last to learn before I choose one to completely master. I don't know if I want to use form V or form VII, but I at least wanted to get a feel for form IV before finally deciding."

He shrugs, "Back in the temple we didn't have the time to learn the forms before we chose what to go with, we just chose based on our strengths. If you had to choose one right now, what are your strengths?"

I contemplate the question before responding, "Well I'm naturally strong in the force, I'll probably end up being bigger instead of faster, so I'd say form V probably. It's a dueling form that utilizes strength and the force. I can then use form III when engaging blasters."

Kanan smiles, "Close. Your right in form V, but for you there's no need to incorporate form III. If you learn both disciplines of form V, Shien and Djem So you'll be fine against blasters and lightsabers. Good job with your strengths, now what are the forms weaknesses?"

Once again, I have to think for a moment, "It primarily utilizes your opponent's attacks instead of being more offensive."

Kanan nods his head, "Correct. While it is more offensive than form III, it still utilizes your opponents' attacks, meaning you need to have patience during a fight. You need to be able to think and see openings your opponent gives you."

I nod my head in understanding, "I see what you mean. I can utilize speed and power attacks along with the force to create openings in my opponents defense, while ensuring that my defense is impenetrable."

Kanan beams, "Exactly, form V was used by many excellent duelists including Anakin Skywalker, his padawan Ahsoka Tano, Aayla Secura, and many other powerful masters. I see you being able to use this form very well. Your build is a lot like Skywalker's, and he was one of the Order's best. It may take a few more years for you to develop to the level of Skywalker and his padawan, and we'll have to get some weight training equipment to get your physical strength up, but I think form V would be perfect for you."

Kanan heads back to the cockpit as I put away the training droid.

I guess if I really think about it, it makes sense. Anyways time to work on some hand to hand. Then I'll finish up with pushups and sit-ups.

I've been practicing Teras Kasi, a martial art designed to fight force users.

In case I ever lose my weapons, I'll need something to be able to cover me.

Apparently, there was a former Sith Lord by the name of Maul that specialized in this sort of combat. I've been using one of the Sith Holocrons I brought along to learn more about it.

I have a few electro staffs; I wonder if I could get Zeb to show me something about staff combat.

Well, that's a question for another day. Today there is a shipment of supplies aboard an Imperial transport were supposed to be grabbing.

Going through the motions of Teras Kasi, I almost miss Hera trying to comm me.

Scrambling toward the ship's build in comm I activate it, "Sorry Hera, what's up?"

"Go gear up were 15 minutes out from the transport."

"Solid, I'll be up front in 5." I reply.

I should probably put away the red lightsaber for today, Kanan doesn't like it when I use it.

Also, the test results to see if Revan's old armor is ready for battle should be done by now.

Seeing as I can't exactly wear my beskar armor, I had the idea of wearing Revan's old armor instead. It'd be revealing my identity for sure, but after the lapse of judgment stunt I pulled on Kessel, I'm guessing word is going around anyways.

Zeb was right, as much as I hate to admit it. I shouldn't have gone jumping around throwing a red lightsaber.

I have both the black-on-black armor and robe as well as the brown on tan armor and robe. I've been running tests on them for the last 2 weeks to see if they would be combat ready.

Finally getting to my room I grab the data pad that has the test results on it.

Jedi variant – 73% stability – Not recommended for combat use.

Sith Variant – 94% stability – Recommended for combat use.

Hmm, I wonder how that would go over. Showing up looking like the Sith lord. Well, it's the only armor I have other than a couple of plastoid pieces, and I would gladly take Jedi armor over that.

With no other choice I don the dark robes and armor, putting the red and black Mandalorian mask on last. Finally, I pull up the hood and look in the mirror.

A little big on me right now but give it a few months with my strength training and it'll fit perfect.

Clipping both the red and purple lightsaber to my belt I move to the door.

I'll have to modify the belt later so it can hold my blaster pistols, but for now my lightsabers will do.

I wonder if I could replace the red lightsaber. I always want to have two on me, but Kanan really disapproves of the red. I could try and find another purple crystal.

Putting that thought away until later I make my way through the ship to the cockpit where everyone is waiting.

Kanan looks at me surprised, "One your late, two what the kriff are you wearing?"

I turn and let my expressionless mask talk for me.

Instead, I ask Hera, "How far out from the transport are we?", except the voice that came out was not my own.

I guess there's a voice changer in the mask as well.

It makes my voice deeper though so I'm ok with it.

"About 3 minutes out, and ya what are you doing with that?", Hera responds.

Frustrated I say, "I don't have my beskar anymore, and I need armor. The only other armor I have is some pieces of plastoid and compared to this it's practically paper. Revan modified his armor to be the closest thing to beskar there is without actually having beskar. Not even the mask is beskar, it's just a custom alloy that closely replicates it."

Sabine looks disturbed by this, "I've never heard of anything like that. Beskar is the strongest metal in the galaxy, how can you replicate it?"

I shake my head, "It's not as strong as beskar, it's just the next best thing. The Jedi and Sith of old made their armor to last, and Revan took it a step further with his Sith armor. The Jedi variant of this was only about 73% stable, whereas this was at 94% stability."

Kanan accepts this, "Is it possible for you to paint it so it doesn't look so … dark?"

I look at him accusingly, "You want me to paint my family armor that is 4,000 years old? No, I will not deface it like that. If Sabine wants to keep some of the spare beskar I have she can, but that's the only thing of mine that will be painted. Not Revan's armor, and not Shae Vizla's armor."

Sabine looked up surprised, "I can paint some of your armor? Remember, I'm just holding on to it until you can get it back."

I turn to look her, "Ya there's like five sets along with extra helmets. If I really hate it so much, I'll just scrub it off. I figure it could give you a few extra canvases, but if you want to paint all of them, you'll have to scrub the paint off mine first. Plus, it might be a little while before I can convince a clan to allow me to join."

If I time it right it will be a year or two.

Sabine seems to ponder this, "All right, I'll keep that in mind."

I nod and look over to Kanan, "This might not be a good time to ask this, but I want to forge a new blade. I have the parts to make a custom hilt, but I need to take a trip to get a new crystal. The purple crystal I have has bonded itself to me, bud the red crystal has been bled. I would revert it, but it's simply to strong. It won't bond to me unless I fully embrace the dark side. For now, I can use it, but as I learn to control my powers more, I would prefer a crystal that completely bonds with me. And as you can see, I prefer to have two lightsabers on me, whether I fight with one of them or both."

Kanan takes a minute to think about it, "Eventually we might be able to do that, but for now one blade will suffice for form V. I would rather you not use the red lightsaber as it gives me a headache just getting near it. If you really need to keep two blades on you just use the black blade until we can take a trip for another crystal."

I look over to Sabine and shake my head, "Unfortunately not an option, I'll just stick with one blade for now."

Can't use the darksaber until I'm accepted into a clan. Then, with Sabine's help I will find the true leader of Mandalore.

Wait.

I could let Sabine use it until then.

But she already refused to take it.

Maybe I can eventually convince Sabine to use it.

If I had other Mandalorians to help convince her that could help.

Stowing that thought away for another day, I return to my room to put away the red lightsaber.

I'm just entering the bridge again as we come out of hyperspace.

Suddenly the ships comm goes off, "Unidentified Vessell, state your business. You are trespassing in a restricted area."

Hera unmutes the comm device, "Imperial Transport 233, this is Blade Shadow, we have emergency orders from Admiral Konstantine to deliver extra supplies to the transport."

"I don't have these orders."

"They came in late, but I already got paid. If you don't want the supplies, you can explain to your superiors why you're missing two battalion's worth of E-11 blasters." Hera replied.

That Twilek is an actual genius sometimes.

"Affirmative you have permission to dock, docking port 3."

Hera cut the comm off as I turn to her, "Let me handle this. There's something I want to try out."

Quickly moving to the airlock, I stand in front of it as I wait for it open.

As the ship docks, I sense four stormtroopers on the other side of the door.

Ok, pretend to be an inquisitor, grab the supplies, mind trick anybody who gets in my, and get out.

The door opens and the stormtroopers take a step back.

The trooper in charge, must be a sergeant, he has a white pauldron, quickly takes charge.

"Who are you? Identify yourself!"

Turning to him I growl out, "I am an inquisitor, and you will do exactly as I say."

He takes a step back, "Which inquisitor are you? We get transfer orders whenever they come aboard."

Well, what do I do here? How do inquisitors rank themselves?

I must have taken to long to respond because the stormtroopers level their blasters at me.

Really? I don't feel like killing these guys today, they're just doing their jobs, but they aren't really giving me a choice.

Grabbing my lightsaber off my belt I activate the purple blade, and the troopers visibly recoil at the sight of it.

After the initial shock they all start opening fire on me.

Quickly slipping into form V Shien variant I block all the shots as they come at me, sending most back to the original shooter.

In seconds the four stormtroopers are on the ground dead or unconscious.

My comm goes off and I quickly answer it, "What's up?"

On the other end Hera sounds frantic, "Specter 6 get back on board a star destroyer just came out of hyperspace!"

I run back to the bridge and spot Hera, "I never actually left the ship I just dealt with the troopers that greeted me."

Hera turns to respond, "That's fine go hop on a turret we have TIE's inbound."

Without responding I turn and run to the lower turret, strap in, and start shooting at fighters.

The Ghost quickly lurches into hyperspace, and I make my way back to the bridge.

Kanan is the first to speak up, "Told ya we'd get away."

"With the shipment. You said we'd get away with the shipment!" Sabine retorts.

Hera turns to Kanan, "Hun, we're low on everything."

"Food", I quickly interject.

"Explosives", Of course Sabine goes straight to that.

"Fuel", And of course Hera's thinking about the ship.

"If we don't get some money we might as well put the Ghost in storage." She quickly continues,

Kanan takes a second before responding, "There's always Vizago's job."

Zeb quickly responds, "So we're arms dealers again?"

Kanan tries to placate the situation, "More like … arms … redistributors."

"Come on! We don't even know what kind of weapons we're talking about!"

I interject, "Hey, if it puts food on the table and frees up time for, I don't know, training. Then I'm all for it."

Kanan turns to Hera, "You game?"

"Say I am, what then?"

"I already know the mission, head to the spaceport."

We touch down in the Lothal spaceport and head to a civilian shuttle that's says it's going to Garel.

The plan seemed simple enough. Find out which bay has an Imperial weapons shipment. Divert the Imperials away from there. Steal the shipment and head to Vizago.

While we were on the way back to Lothal, I stopped to read into Revan's history with the force a little more using both his Jedi and Sith Holocrons. I specifically tried to find if he had any rare force abilities, that I might share. There were a few on there that seemed pretty wild, but for the most part everything was normal. The more interesting ones included force storms, force sense, force healing, some defensive abilities that allowed him to absorb energy with the force, and incredibly precise telekinetic abilities.

If I can learn some of those abilities, they would complement my combat style well. Revan used form VI, but it was actually quite similar to form V, just more well-rounded. I can take advantage of form V even more if I learn some of these abilities.

Deciding to talk to Kanan about it later, I board the shuttle along with Chopper, getting a few strange looks from people at the same time.

At least I don't have my mask on.

I decided that it would be better to attach the mask to my belt and lower my hood while on a civilian transport. I look less intimidating that way.

As chopper rushes on I give him a quick slap on the dome and hear Zeb mutter, "How rude."

As I sit down, I see minister Tua walking in with some sort of alien species, "This way Mister Wabo, we have seats in the front."

Wabo responds in a language I'm not familiar with, "Thank you for the invite, I am most sure these negotiations will be beneficial for both parties."

How the kriff did I understand him?

I've never even seen his species, much less heard their language. I'll also have to ask Kanan about that.

"Uh, where is that translator?", I hear minister Tua ask.

"Coming minster!" A protocol droid, and R2 unit roll into the shuttle.

Wait a second. I recognize that R2 unit. What's he doing working for the Empire? Father told me Bail Organa took him along with one of the Skywalker children. Leia, I think her name was. She's probably force sensitive, but doesn't even know it.

As the ship takes off and prepares to enter hyperspace Chopper plays his part by repeatedly tapping me on the shoulder.

"Will you stop? You have plenty of room."

Chopper responds by zapping me with his electric prod.

Kanan steps up, "Kid can you get that rust bucket under control?"

Chopper zaps Kanan as I say, "Why don't you mind your own business!"

Kanan turns to the robot pilot, "Hey I though all droids had to stay in the back!"

The pilot turns to me, "Sorry sir, but your astromech must proceed to the back of the ship."

"If my astromech is banished than those two are as well!" I respond.

"Pilot, I am on Imperial business." Minister Tua retorts.

The droid quickly shuts her down, "These are imperial protocols."

"Fine, I can't let anything ruin these negotiations."

As chopper, R2, and the protocol droid move to the back I hear Wabo grunt out, "So how will you understand me?"

That's freaky, must be something with the force allowing me to understand his language. I wonder if I can understand other languages?

"Oh, I can't understand you!" Minister Tua says back.

Zeb sticking to the plan speaks up, "I couldn't help notice your predicament. It just so happens that my ward is quite fluent."

I hate that, Sabine being called a ward. She's so free spirited.

"Oh no I couldn't, but it would be good practice for my level 5's at the Imperial academy, but I couldn't!" She exaggerates.

"You're a level 5 academy student? I was to back in my day." Tua says proudly.

Gross. Just gross. The Empire can go eat bantha osik.

"All right go ahead. Ask him which bay the shipment is in." Tua agrees.

"Which bay is the shipment in? I am Minister Tua's new translator." Sabine quickly grunts out.

"What luck! The shipment is in bay seven! I can't wait for these negotiations to be fruitful." Wabo quickly says.

"Thank you!" Sabine responds.

She smiles at Tua, "He said bay 17!"

Hah, that's on the complete opposite side of the space port.

"Thank you, you've done your Empire proud today!" Tua responds as the ship sets down.

As everybody departs the ship, I see Sabine thanking Minister Tua, before I take off for a stack of crates that leads to a vent.

As I'm crawling through the vent, I hear my comm beep.

"Ezra, where are you? I thought you were on the ship", I hear Sabine say.

"Heading to bay 7, why?" I ask.

Sabine quickly fires back, "How do you know to go to bay 7? I haven't even told anybody yet."

"Wabo said it was in bay 7." I respond simply.

"Since when could you speak Aqualesh?", Sabine asks stunned.

"Since about 15 minutes ago."

"WHAT? What do you mean since 15 minutes ago?"

"Is this the time for this conversation? We have a job to do." I respond annoyed.

I turn my comm off before she can respond and keep making my way to bay 7.

Once I'm at the right vent that leads into bay 7 I undo the vent panel, and jump in.

While walking over to the control for the bay door I don my mask and take my lightsaber out of it's hiding spot on my leg, clipping it to my belt.

I wonder if there's a better hiding spot than the pouch on my leg. It's not super hidden if somebody were looking for it, they could probably find it easily.

Letting everybody know to be ready I open the door to the bay, and Zeb and Sabine walk in.

"Wow, you actually did it." Zeb jabs at me.

"Was there doubt?" I retort back.

Sabine interjects, "Oh ya."

Ok what's her problem today. So, I can understand languages. Does she see me as a threat to her?

Letting my annoyance out into the force I run over to the crates, to see them open up to T-7 Ion disruptors.

"Woah, these things can disable an entire starship. They were banned by the senate!" Sabine remarks.

Zeb looks down, "That's not why they were banned."

Kanan puts the lid back onto the crate and gets us moving again.

As were running to the ship chopper lets us know that Tua is on to us and we need to hurry.

I spot stormtroopers running towards us just as we're about to board the ship, "Time's up! Zeb keep taking these I'll deal with the troopers."

Zeb grunted an affirmative as I turn to face the troopers.

Let's play this slow at first, I can change my voice with my mask so I might be able to make myself more intimidating.

That doesn't change my size though.

While I have gotten a little bigger with my strength exercises it's nothing to write home about. It's only been two weeks.

"Is there a problem here?", I ask the troopers in a voice that sounds like a 30 year old.

"Those crates have the disruptors in them!"

"Can't possibly be disruptors. Those are illegal, right?" I ask.

Tua responds, "It doesn't matter, we are searching your crates!"

"Oh, I don't think that's necessary."

I quickly concentrate as hard as I can, controlling my hate for the imperials in front of me.

What they did to my parents, my family, my friends.

I concentrate my emotions into a force storm that rains lightning down on the troopers, stunning or killing all of them.

Tua looks back at me, "By gods, what are you?!"

I almost faint from exhaustion. That one force storm took everything I had.

Man, Revan made it look so much easier. I'm going to have to practice that one.

Before I can completely feint, Zeb grabs a hold of me and drags me back to the Ghost.

I'm able to recover a bit as I put most of my weight on him. By the time everybody is in, Hera is already taking off.

I take a couple more minutes to catch my breath and when I look up, I see everybody staring at me.

"What?", I ask annoyed.

Kanan just glares at me, "What do you mean, what?! What was that?! That was the dark side, and you shouldn't have done it!"

I take off my mask and lower my meeting his glare, "I told you, I walk the middle! I don't let my emotions control me; I control them! Ya I used my hate for the empire to do that, but I didn't turn into a Sith to do so. I didn't let the dark side control me, I controlled it!"

"We're talking about this later. I don't like what I'm seeing." Kanan says as he makes his way up the ladder.

I shout up to him before he can completely disappear, "Kanan, I don't want to be a Jedi, I will bring balance between the light and the dark. I will be the grey area!"

Zeb climbed up to speak with Kanan about something as I went to my room to meditate.

I need to clear my head if I'm going to get this right.

As I settle down into my meditation position, I hear Zeb enter the room.

"Hey Zeb." I say as he sits down on his bunk.

"Kid, I'm not in the mood to talk right now."

I look over to him, "What's up? I know we don't always see eye to eye, but I don't like to see people suffering. What's bothering you?"

Zeb just stared at the ceiling, "Kid I said I don't wanna talk about it. Now shut up and leave me alone."

I roll my eyes, "Fine, but I'll be meditating so if your things are floating around just ignore it. I really need to clear my head."

Zeb glared at me, "If your gonna be floating things around go do it somewhere else!"

I turn around and return the glare, "I need somewhere quiet, and I really need to clear my head. Now if you don't wanna talk can you please shut up."

Zeb responds by grabbing the back of my neck and literally throwing me out of the room, locking the door behind me.

"You kriffing shabuir, piece of bantha osik! You can't kriffing kick me out of my own kriffing room!"

I hear Hera call out, "EZRA, get up to the cockpit! NOW!"

As I start to return to the cockpit, I see Sabine's shocked face at the number of expletives I just used.

I shoot her a sorry look as I enter the cockpit.

Hera turns around in her chair when she hears me enter, "Sit."

Ok this is Mother Hera again. Let's not make her angry.

"What's up Hera?"

"Do you know what a T7 Ion disruptor is?", she quickly asks.

I look at her, "Ya, it can fully disable a starship with one shot. Those things were banned by the senate for a reason."

"Well, that's not why they were banned. Do you know what it does to an organic being?", Hera calmly asks.

"No, why?"

"Because Zeb does, it was the weapon the Empire used when they wiped out his home world of Lasan. Very few Lasats survived. None remained on Lasan.", she said.

Oh. I heard about what happened to Lasan, but that's just terrible. I didn't realize it was that bad.

"Ok, sorry Hera, I can try and cut Zeb some slack. Give him some room. Do you know a quiet place I can meditate? The fight had me pretty wound up, and I want to let some of it out into the force. I was going to do it in my room until Zeb kicked me out."

"Ya there are a few good spots. You can ask Kanan or Sabine to take you to them, I know Sabine has a few spots where she likes to paint alone, and Kanan goes to them sometimes to meditate as well. We have about two hours left in hyperspace."

"Thanks Hera, I appreciate it.", I say bowing my head.

"No problem, how's training going with Kanan?", she asks.

I scoff, "What training, all I'm doing is what I used to. Learn something new on my own, and have no clue how to get better at it or control it."

Hera frowns at that, "We'll see about that."

She scares me when she has that look on her face.

Quickly exiting the cockpit, I make my way to the common room where I find Sabine on the couch reading a data pad, and Kanan making a drink in the kitchen. The protocol droid and R2 are in the corner deactivated.

Kanan looks up at me and starts, "Ezra I want to talk to you about how much of the dark side you're using. I think you need to be more careful with how you learn your powers. Take it slowly. That force storm you conjured, you had no control over it and it completely drained you. You almost passed out on the ship. At this point if you pull a stunt like that against a real Sith, you will die. You need to sharpen your lightsaber skills in form V and learn your limits with the force."

I can't help but snap at him, "Well it'd be a lot easier if you would help me. The Holocrons show me how to use the ability, but not how to control it or get better with it. I know I'm strong enough to control these things I just need your help!"

Kanan looks at the floor, "I know. I will help you, but I have to figure out how first. In the meantime, please don't try to learn any new abilities. Sabine already said you somehow learned a new language in the span of minutes."

I glare at Sabine, "That wasn't your place to talk about that. I'm trying to understand it myself, so could you please not be sharing all my personal details with everybody?!"

I like her, but she needs to learn her place. That was not hers to share.

Sabine returns the glare, "When are you gonna stop being immature? Ya it's pretty important for everybody to know that you can literally learn a new language just like that! Kanan needs to know these things, because next time it could be you that's in my position! Grow up Ezra, for this crew to work together at peak efficiency, we have to be able to share things with each other."

Are you kidding me? We have to share things with each other? She's done nothing but keep her own secrets and she's gonna say we have to share things with each other?!

I instantly snap back, "Oh ya, we have to share things with each other? Well let's hear everything about your past! You know mine, and it seems you want to know every other little thing about me, so why don't you tell us about yourself?"

She stands up marches over to me and punches me so hard in the arm my arm goes dead.

After that she just stomped off to her room.

"Kriffing Mandalorian.", I mutter.

I look back to Kanan who is just eyeing me, "Ezra, I know how you look at her, and if you want any shot with her maybe you shouldn't yell at her like that. Mando's typically don't appreciate being called out as you can now see."

Ya, I know. I'm half Mandalorian.

"Ya Kanan, I know. I'm half Mandalorian you know."

Kanan chuckles, "You know sometimes I forget that, but that explains a lot now. The short temper, the curses, and a whole lot of other stuff. Speaking of that didn't you give your armor to Sabine?"

"Ya, until I am accepted into a clan and pass the trials, I can't wear beskar. That's the only reason I'm wearing this armor. Although, it is kind of growing on me."

Kanan snorts at that, "Really? Never mind. What clan are you trying to join?"

I grin at him, "Clan Wren."

Realization hits him, "She's gonna kick your ass. How long do you think that will take?"

I contemplate that a bit before responding, "I give it two years at the most. I'll turn 15 here soon, and I guarantee by the time I'm 17, either I will marry her, or she will be married to somebody else. Mandalorian tradition states she needs to marry in between the ages of 16 and 18, and by the time I turn 17 she will almost be 19. If I haven't gotten to her by then, she'll end up marrying somebody from her clan."

Kanan laughs, "And if that doesn't work out?"

I shake my head, "Kriff if I know, I'm head over heels for that girl. She's the only one in the galaxy that I could think about marrying. I'm sure once she goes back to her clan, she'll turn a few heads, and I need to have locked her down by then. I couldn't even think about going through life watching her with somebody else. It only took her two weeks to get me like this too. Ya she can make me mad, but that's just my short temper. I can't stay mad at that girl. How did she turn me into a lovesick puppy in a matter of weeks? That's probably the only reason I handed over my armor! I don't know Kanan, but one thing I do know is I am in love with that girl. I just have this feeling that she's the one. When she's around everything just seems to fit. Everything just seems like it's going to be perfectly fine."

Kanan smiled at that, "You know, that's exactly how I felt when I met Hera. Within weeks she had me wrapped around her finger. Just like you with Sabine. Granted I was a few years older; I think was 18 at the time, but still, I know what you mean. And also like you, at the time Hera only saw me as a member of the crew. I was chasing her, and she just didn't have any interest back. Eventually she came to her senses, and I think if you give Sabine some space, respect her, and just try to be a good friend, that things will work out more or less how you want them to. It might take her a little while to realize it, but I think you once you get a little older, she might return the sentiment. For you I hope it's sooner rather than later, seeing as you're on a bit of a time crunch. I'll try to help you out where I can with tips, but like I said just respect her and be her friend. Once you get there maybe give her some signs that it's not just a teenage crush, and you want to take things further. Just don't rush things. That will ruin your chances faster than anything else."

I look up at Kanan appreciatively, "Thanks for the advice Kanan. I really appreciate it, you and Hera both made good points about it. I think I know what I need to do. First things first, maybe I should apologize to Sabine for yelling at her and trying to pry into her history."

Kanan nods, "That's probably a good place to start, but that can wait for later. I'm assuming you want to meditate on this, and with Zeb kicking you out of the room you're gonna need a quiet spot. Follow me."

I follow Kanan as he leads me to a small room tucked away in the cargo bay. It appears to be a guest area in case somebody else was traveling with us.

Kanan looks back at me as we arrive, "In here, there's sound dampening so you should get some peace and quiet. Let your emotions out into the force and meditate on what the best path going forward is. Just whatever you do, don't let your feelings for anybody cloud your judgement. It's a quick path to fall to the dark side."

I look back as Kanan makes to leave, "Thanks again Kanan. Take your time with the force training, I wouldn't want you to mess up because I rushed you. I'll try to stay away from learning new things until you teach me to control my powers. I won't promise anything, but as they say curiosity killed the cat, so maybe hurry up a little bit with it."

Kanan simply smiles and climbs back up the ladder.

I close the door, turn the sound dampeners on, and settle into a meditative position.

Clear my mind.

Let go of my emotion.

Inhale … Exhale.

Inhale … Exhale.

Inhale … Exhale.

I slowly drift off into a meditative state while waiting for the ship to arrive at Lothal.

*Sabine POV 10 minutes earlier*

With my door cracked I can hear Ezra and Kanan get up to go meditate.

I close and lock my door and sit on my bed.

Ugh, this is too much to process. I don't think they realize I heard them that whole time. Ezra just dumped his feelings out to Kanan about being in love with me, and Kanan seems to think I would return the favor?

Not happening.

Well.

No.

Maybe?

Last time I let somebody get that close I was forced to leave them; I don't want that to happen again.

Let's play this out. I've seen a few different sides of Ezra. I've seen his selfish side, which I think was just an act. I've seen his completely selfless side, which I think is the real him. I've seen his Mandalorian side, which he doesn't really even realize he has. And I have to admit, I really like his Mandalorian side. But I've also seen his dark side. That gear he sometimes goes to when his blood gets boiling. He ruthlessly killed stormtroopers on Kessel, and on the star destroyer he was captured on.

Some would argue that it was just his Mandalorian side, but even we don't go that far. I don't think that's the real him though.

I think the real him is a selfless Mandalorian Jedi, who would do anything it takes to save others.

And KRIFF I really like that.

The fact that he's 14 and almost as tall as me also tells me in a few years he'll be turning heads.

I guess I do sort of like him, but he's still to young. And if I ever go back home, Deax might still be there.

I don't really know.

I'm not making a decision on this right now; in fact, I need to go talk to Hera.

Getting up I head out of my room towards the cockpit.

Walking in I find Hera just gazing out at the endless blues of hyperspace.

Walking over I ask, "How long until we're back on Lothal?"

Hera turns to me as I sit down beside her, "About an hour and forty minutes, why?"

I look down as I try to figure out how to start, "Can we talk?"

Hera looks at me with that motherly look, "Of course! What's up?"

Putting my elbows on my knees and head in my hands I mutter out, "It's about Ezra."

Hera grins at that, "What about Ezra?"

Sighing I say, "I just heard Kanan and Ezra having a heart to heart about how he feels about me. I heard him say that he's absolutely in love with me, and one day wants to marry me. Which is crazy by the way, he's known me for all of two weeks and wants to marry me?"

Hera chuckles at that, "Look Sabine, I also talked with Ezra about this before our last mission, and while it's not my place to talk about his feelings, I gotta say he's exactly like Kanan was when we first met. Kanan was head over heals for me in weeks. I didn't share it at the time, but I eventually came around after he stopped with the cheesy pick-up lines and one liner. What I'm doing a bad job at saying is give him a chance to get close to you. Let him be your friend. Talk with each other. It won't happen overnight, but eventually you'll figure out whether you hate him, like him as a friend, maybe a best friend, or if you want to take things further. It'll probably take you a long while to figure things out for sure because I know how important marriage is to your people, but I've seen Ezra's true side. The selfless side, and I think if you give him a chance that eventually you'll come around to it. Whether it's just as friends or eventually more you'll be glad you did it. Now if he's taking advice from Kanan, I would be worried about the one liner coming in, but other than that you shouldn't have much to worry about."

I bite my lip and look down.

She sees this and asks, "What?"

I look up to her, "I haven't told anybody about my past really, and you can't tell anybody else. Please, Hera this is really personal."

"Ok, I won't tell anybody."

Nodding, I continue, "Well before I left home, I was in the Imperial academy on Mandalore. After I realized what they were I left and found you guys. But…"

"But?", she urges me on.

"but I left somebody behind. The only person I ever got close to. We were young and we never really went that far together, but still, we did have something. I'm willing to give Ezra a chance to grow up some, and see where that goes, but if I go home, I don't know if I would still have feelings for Deax. I really don't know because after I tried to show him what the truth of the Empire was, he still stayed. It broke my heart, but I understood where he was coming from. He grew up in an imperial family. It was all he knew. My family naturally taught me the other way. I was the only Imperial supporter in the family. Once I realized I was wrong I left the Imperial academy, and to keep my family safe I left them to. I have a brother and sister at home, and if the empire thought they were connected to me deserting, they would force them into working for them. That was almost two years ago, and since then I haven't let anybody get that close to me. I want to give Ezra a chance because I agree with you his true self really is something, I could see myself falling in love with, but it's all just so confusing."

Hera just smiled and nodded, "I understand, leaving somebody behind is hard to do. I had to leave my father behind when I realized his views didn't line up with mine. He still won't openly support a rebellion unless it's focused on Ryloth. Do what you feel is right. No matter what that is."

I smiled back at her, "Thanks Hera. I'll try and let Ezra in as a friend. I'm not letting him completely in because I'm not ready for that yet, but I think I can get to know him as a friend. Maybe in a year or two, if he still likes me like that, I'll consider it, but right now it's just friends.

Hera beamed at that, "I'm proud of you Sabine. I promise this will turn out good for you, you just have to trust yourself and make decisions you're comfortable with."

Standing up and moving to the door I look back, "Thanks Hera, I'm gonna go try and get some sleep before we get back to Lothal."

With that I move back to my room passing Kanan on the way.

I enter my room, lay down on the bed and try to get some sleep.

I hate feelings.

*Kanan POV*

I watch Sabine go into her room as I walk into the cockpit.

Unsurprisingly I find Hera sitting at the controls of the Ghost.

I walk over to her and wrap my arms around her in a hug.

She leans back into it while saying, "And what is this for?"

"Ezra making me realize how much I love you." I quickly fire back.

"Oh, so I assume you had a talk with him like I did earlier?"

"Ya, but I don't really want to talk about it." I respond.

Hera looks at me and shakes her head, "Well Sabine just dumped out her feelings to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm a parent on this ship without actually having kids."

I laugh at that, "Ya handing out relationship advice to a 14-year-old is not what I signed up for when I joined the crew."

Hera laughs, "Ya, 50 credits says they're a couple by the time Ezra turns 16."

I sit down in the co pilot seat and lean back, "Absolutely, they'll be with each other in a year. Now how long until we reach Lothal?"

Hera checks the Navi computer, "Hour and a half. The ship's set to autopilot. Want to grab some sleep? It's been a long day.

Groaning I get up and look to her, "Ya it has."

*Ezra POV 1 and a half hours later*

The ship coming out of hyperspace jolted me out of my meditation.

I need to do this more often; everything seems so much clearer afterwards.

By the time I'm up and to the cargo bay the ship has set down in field somewhere on Lothal.

Sabine, Zeb, Chopper, R2, the protocol droid, and I are all standing in the cargo bay as Kanan, and Hera make their way down the ladder.

"Can we discuss this later?", I hear Kanan ask.

Hera quickly responds, "That's fine love, but we will discuss this."

R2 beeps out a string of binary.

Sabine translates for everybody, "This R2 unit says his real mission was to make sure the disruptors never made it to the Empire and that his master will pay handsomely for his return."

I interject, "I know this R2 unit, it used to be owned by Anakin Skywalker. My dad told me a few stories about him. We can trust him."

Kanan strokes his beard, "I'll think about it."

Zeb seems angry with this, "So we're selling the disruptors but not the droids, we don't even know who Vizago's buyer is."

"It's not the empire, and I already made a deal with Vizago. Just get these crates off the ship."

Making our way down the ramp with the crates we head over to where Vizago is waiting.

As Vizago is inspecting the disruptors he says, "Ooooh, I can make some beautiful music with these."

"They're not that kind of instrument!", Zeb retorts.

"Ah, you just have to know how to play them. And play those who wish to buy them."

Growing tired of the games I quickly throw in, "You have to buy them from us first."

Vizago laughs and pokes Kanan in the chest, "Finally somebody on your crew who knows business."

As Kanan and Vizago continue talking I hear the all too familiar roar of engines.

Looking up I see a light cruiser with two walkers attached to it.

Kriff, how did they manage to track us down?

I quickly throw my mask on and raise my hood.

Drawing my lightsaber, I ignite its beautiful purple blade, as Vizago takes off with the disruptors and all the credits.

All right, these imperials just cost us half a supply load and all the credits.

I'm gonna end them.

As I come out of my train of thought I see Sabine running to grab some explosives.

Probably going to overload the disruptors so the Empire can't get them back.

I watch as Kanan grabs a disruptor and takes out a walker before being forced back by the other walker.

Running forward I force jump up to the top of the walker and cut a hole in the roof.

I jump through the hole and remove the heads of the two drivers, grab an explosive off my belt, and rig the walker to detonate in twenty seconds.

Jumping out of the hole in the top of the walker I see Sabine, Hera, R2, and C3-PO pushing a crate of disruptors towards this walker.

Oh, that can't be good.

"EZRA! GET OFF THAT THING!", I hear Sabine scream.

I see a transport coming in to drop off troops, and I make my decision relatively quickly.

Jumping off the walker I grab onto the transport shuttle and cut into its engine compartment.

The shuttle quickly starts losing altitude and as it's about to crash I jump off towards where Kanan and Zeb are taking cover.

As the shuttle is crashing, I see Agent Kallus jump out of the shuttle with what looks like a modified Bo-Rifle on his back.

As he steps forward, he takes it off his back and screams, "LASAT! Face ME!"

He activates it with a flourish, and he and Zeb start duking it out.

In that amount of time another transport is dropping off a few more squad's worth of stormtroopers, and me and Kanan are forced to break off to engage them.

I send my lightsaber flying out at neck level towards the stormtroopers, calling on the force to guide it.

At least half the buckets drop in a sea of crimson as I call it back.

Kanan quickly shouts, "Ok we gotta talk later about how much you kill!"

I turn to him "Save it for later, right now let's just get through this!" I fire back.

As the disruptors explode it sends everybody flying and the last of the stormtroopers go down.

Unfortunately, it also gave Kallus the opening he needed.

As he is standing over top of Zeb prepared to deliver the fatal blow, I know he is out of range of a force push.

Instead, I send my lightsaber flying at him as fast as I can.

It managed to graze his back and knock him out.

Haar'chak, still not a killing blow, but we'll have to worry about that later.

Grabbing onto Zeb with the force I quickly pull him back over towards us along with my lightsaber.

Kanan grabs on to him as we all make our way back to the Ghost, Hera going straight to the cockpit.

Once we're all back in the cargo bay Zeb starts to get back up, he looks over to Kanan, "Thanks for the save mate."

Kanan just smiles, "It wasn't me. It was Ezra."

Zeb looks over to me to me and nods in thanks.

"Don't worry about it big guy. I was gonna let you fight your fight, but I wasn't going to let you fight your last fight. You're not getting rid of me that easily." I respond.

Kanan looks over to me, "And Ezra, your formal Jedi training starts tomorrow. Well, force training."

I look back at Kanan, "Let's call it Jedi training for now. I might dip into my bag of dark side tricks, but I doubt you'll be able to teach me much on them. I'll work on those myself, while you can teach me to become a Jedi. Just don't expect me to follow all of the old stupid rules. They didn't work."

Kanan chuckles, "I wouldn't expect you to. I don't follow all of them myself."

With that we broke off. Our next stop was to return Bail Organa's droids, but Kanan would be taking care of that.

I just went back to the common area to sit and think over some things.

This is where I'm supposed to be.

And that's chapter 3! I know I said at the beginning that these coming chapters would be shorter, and I know this is definitely not shorter. Sorry! I stuck mostly to the episode, but I felt those few extra scenes really added to Ezra's new persona. The beginning scene is actually right before the actual episode starts when they are talking about getting the shipment, so I hope you liked that. Also how do you like the differences in the backstories? Instead of the Duchess, Sabine is going to have to deal with the emotional drama of leaving behind somebody she cared about, and I know that's cliché, but it works so well for Sabine. Also, Sabine has a sister now? I'll leave it at that, you will learn more about her later. Ezra is using Revan's armor! This is why I had Sabine 'confiscate' his armor last chapter. I needed a setup and a reason for him to need to wear it. I'm not an artist, but just imagine Ezra in that armor! Anyways I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, please review and leave suggestions, I read them, and I try to take them all into consideration! Thank you all for reading, see you next chapter!
