Chapter 80:

Castle Royal

With Barry having gone to train, I knew which facility I was going to take on today; the Battle Castle. I saw the stone structure stand tall in front of me, interested to know just what gimmick went on here. Apparently, endurance?

Well, inside was just as grand as the outside. It was almost like I had stepped into a Disney movie. There were expensive statues depicting stars. Red flags hung from the ceiling. All the walls were made of stone. At the end of the golden carpet was the Receptionist wearing a green princess outfit.

"Hello, and welcome to the Battle Castle" she said. "Now, let me explain to you the rules. You will battle three Trainers before taking on Castle Valet Darach, and you will get Castle Points. These will be used to heal your Pokémon because they don't get healed beforehand here."

That sounded intense. I knew I should use them wisely.

The Battlefield here was completely gold. There were stairs going up to a platform with a giant gold throne. Under that platform was a hallway with red curtains on top.

"This is the grandest battlefield I've ever seen" I though to myself.

From the hallway came a man dressed in a black suit. He had black hair with a gold streak down the middle and was holding a stopwatch in his right hand.

"Pleased to make your acquaintance" he said. "My name is Darach, the Castle Valet of this facility. But I am also a Butler." He walked onto the opposite side of the Battlefield. "Lady Caitlin, the time has come to witness a battle!"

A young lady in a pink and white dress with very long blonde hair entered onto the balcony. She sat down on the throne quietly.

"I have predicted this" she said. "I've been waiting for the battle between the two of you. The Champion and my very own butler."

"I think I should explain the rules beforehand" Darach said.

Caitlin hearing this, started to get a bit angry. Not bratty per say, but agitated. Upon this, multiple flags in the Castle started lifting by themselves.

"Did someone turn the AC on?" I asked.

"No" Darach said. "Let's just skip the rules and bring on the first opponent. Come on in!"

A Hiker, with his big brown coat and bag, came onto the Battlefield.

"Skip the introductions and start" Caitlin demanded.

"Go Drifblim!" I shouted.

"I choose Makuhita!" Hiker Jacob shouted. He sent out a yellow, admittedly rather fat Pokémon with black hands and what looked like a knot on its head.

Makuhita

Guts Pokémon

Region of origin: Hoenn

190.5 lbs (86.4 kg)

It toughens its body by slamming into thick trees. Many snapped trees can be found near its nest.

"Drifblim use Shadow Ball!" Drifblim fired a shadowy blob at Makuhita. It almost went down.

"Makuhita, Knock Off!" Makuhita slammed its fist down onto Drifblim. Being a Dark Type move, it was Super Effective.

"Another Shadow Ball Drifblim!" Drifblim once again fired a blob at Makuhita, finishing it.

"Go Tentacool!" Jacob shouted, sending out the blue tentacled thing. "Use Bubble Beam!" Tentacool shot bubbles at Drifblim.

"We've come prepared" I said. "Drifblim, Substitute!" Drifblim suddenly left the battlefield. In its place it left a small green Rhydon-like doll at the expense of some HP.

"We can take down that Substitute in one" Jacob said. "BubbleBeam!" Tentacool shot a beam of bubbles at the doll, but it didn't change back.

"Now Payback Drifblim!" Drifblim suddenly appeared and tackled Tentacool covered black. Tentacool was knocked out instantly.

"My final Pokémon will be Kadabra!" Jacob yelled. "Use Psybeam!" Kadabra shot a pink beam at the doll. Upon impact, the doll fell to pieces and Drifblim was back.

"Shadow Ball!" Drifblim fired the shadowy blob at Kadabra, taking it down in one, giving me the victory.

"Well, I guess that's me done!" Jacob said as he went out of the battlefield.

"Darach!" Caitlin yelled. "Castle Points for this Trainer immediately!"

Darach came rushing over to me. "Congratulations on your victory. Judging by your performance, you get 34CP. You have two more battles till you face me, the next foe will be even harder. Do you want to use any CP that you've accumulated?"

I decided no. None had fainted yet and Drifblim would Aftermath anyway.

"Next Trainer!" Caitlin shouted.

A cyclist came in with red gear on. Her blonde hair swayed by as she rode in.

"Madame" Darach said. "This isn't the time to use that. You should leave your Bicycle outside before battling."

Just then, all the flags started lifting again. At this point, even the gold structures were starting to shake as if they were coming to life.

"Okay what is going on?!" I asked Darach, now feeling scared. It was like this Castle was haunted.

"Everything is fine!" he said. "Okay, you can keep your bike in here. Just start the battle."

Without further ado, we did.

"Go Drifblim!" I yelled.

"I choose Girafarig!" shouted Cyclist Amelia. "Start with Psybeam!" Girafarig shot a pink beam at Drifblim.

"Use Payback!" Drifblim tackled into Girafarig, almost finishing it for good.

"Another Psybeam!" Girafarig fired another beam at Drifblim, which finished it. Aftermath however took down Girafarig at the same time.

"Don't worry Drifblim, I'll revive you" I promised, before sending out Toxicroak.

"Go Hitmonchan!" Amelia shouted, sending out a brown Pokémon in what looked like pink boxing uniform with red glove like hands.

"Hitmonchan, Bullet Punch!" One of Hitmonchan's fists turned grey, then it ran up to Toxicroak and punched it.

"Toxicroak, use Revenge!" Toxicroak punched Hitmonchan before it could even step back after Bullet Punch. "Now Sucker Punch!" Toxicroak punched Hitmonchan again, and Hitmonchan fell. 1 2 3 knockout!

"Time for my final Pokémon, Gabite!" Amelia yelled.

"Come back Toxicroak" I said. "Go Blissey!" My friend pink Normal Type entered the field.

"Gabite, Sand Tomb!" Gabite created a barrage of sand underneath Blissey's feet; it couldn't move.

"Blissey, Focus Blast!" Blissey fired the ball of white energy at Gabite. A clean shot! Gabite fell. I had won.

"Darach! CP for this Trainer at once!" Darach came over and started doing the calculations again.

"Impressive battle. Your performance gives you 21CP. Would you like to use it?"

I decided to heal Drifblim.

"Bring on the final challenger before me" Darach announced, just as a Pokéfan came onto the Battlefield.

"Erwin!" I shouted. "Long time no see! How's Sudowoodo?"

"GET ON WITH THE BATTLE!" Caitlin shouted. Now everything, including some rubble on the battlefield was starting to float.

"Let's just get on with it!" Darach said. "Lucas vs Erwin!"

"Go Drifblim!" I yelled.

"Go Omastar!" Erwin yelled. He sent out a Pokémon with a spiral shaped shell. It was blue, slimy and had a circular mouth with 4 white pointy teeth.

"Drifblim, start with Shadow Ball!" Drifblim fired the black blob at Omastar. It was knocked back.

"Omastar, Ice Beam!" Omastar fired a beam of cold at Drifblim for massive damage.

"Now Drifblim, another Shadow Ball!" Drifblim once again fired a black blob at Omastar, taking it down.

"Interesting. Okay, my next Pokemon will be Torkoal!" Erwin sent out an orange Pokemon with a grey shell. Smoke vented out of the shell holes and its nose violently.

"Drifblim, give it a Shadow Ball!" Drifblim fired the ball at Torkoal. Its shell was very hard tough and took its health down by half.

"Torkoal, use Lava Plume!" Torkoal suddenly erupted from its shell. Hot lava rained down om Drifblim, knocking it out. Torkoal took Aftermath damage.

"Blissey, take it down!" Blissey was sent onto the field. "Use Focus Blast!" Blissey shot the Focus Blast into Torkoal. Even its shell couldn't withstand it anymore. Torkoal was finished.

"Finally, Sudowoodo!" Erwin shouted, summoning his Rock Type.

"Blissey, Focus Blast!" Blissey fired a Focus Blast at Sudowoodo. It ALMOST knocked it out.

"Sudowoodo, Hammer Arm!" Sudowoodo lifted its arm. Then, it ran over to Blissey and with all its might, thrusted it down. Blissey was finished.

"Finally, Toxicroak!" I yelled. "Use Revenge!" Toxicroak punched Sudowoodo, bringing it down.

"Darach! CP for this Trainer at one!"

Darach came over to me and gave me the CP I needed. "Now, I believe that you have enough to heal your entire team before the match. Would you like to?"

I told him yes.

"Darach" I told him. "If I win, tell me what the heck is up with Caitlin. I'm scared."

I put out my hand, and Darach swiftly shook it. "It's a deal. Sorry about my insistence."

With my Pokémon healed, I was ready to take on Darach.

"Caitlin, get ready to see a battle that will, er, hopefully not make you angry."

"Go Drifblim!" I yelled.

"I choose Staraptor!" Darach responded. "Start off with Aerial Ace!" Staraptor dove into Drifblim, who floated back slowly.

"Drifblim, Payback!" Drifblim charged into Staraptor. Due to it having Intimidate, it didn't do nearly as much.

"Now use another!" Staraptor used Aerial Ace again. I was confident that this match would be mine.

"Use Payback!" I shouted. Another charge brought Staraptor down.

"Congratulations, but now you'll fight Kingdra!" Darach sent out a large blue Pokémon with a yellow belly and a long blue snout like mouth.

Kingdra

"Come back Drifblim" I said, recalling it. "Go Toxicroak!"

"Hydro Pump Kingdra!" As Toxicroak was sent out, it took the deluge of water because of Dry Skin.

"Now Toxicroak, Poison Jab!" Toxicroak ran up to Kingdra and jabbed it. Kingdra was poisoned.

"Kingdra, Dragon Pulse!" Kingdra fired a green ball at Toxicroak, leaving it almost down.

"Another Poison Jab!" Toxicroak came back one more time, almost finishing Kingdra.

"Another Dragon Pulse!" Kingdra fired another one at Toxicroak, taking it down. However, Kingdra succumb to the poison.

"I choose Gallade!" shouted Darach, sending out his final one.

"Drifblim, you're up again!" I shouted, sending it out. "Shadow Ball!" Drifblim fired the ball at Gallade, who took lots of damage.

"Now Gallade, use Night Slash!" Gallade's elbow blades turned black. It then ran to Drifblim and slashed it for lots of damage. Drifblim was down but went out with a bang.

"Blissey, finish this off!" I shouted.

"Gallade, Psycho Cut!" Gallade's blades this time turned pink. It then slashed Blissey with them.

"Grass Knot!" Blissey made Gallade trip. Critical Hit! Gallade was down!

"Thank you so much for this battle" Darach said, then looked up at Caitlin. She seemed calm, which was a good thing. But why was all this happening?

"I will meet you outside" Darach said.

I waited outside the Castle for Darach. He eventually appeared and wasted no time with talking.

"I am so sorry for all of that" he said. "Caitlin is known to scare off people with her psychic powers."

"Psychic powers?" I asked. Was it possible for people to have that? Well, I guess there are Psychic Trainers out there, Lucian for instance, but I'd never seen power to quite that extent.

"She wants to train Psychic Types in the future, and I am more than willing to let her." Darach said. "Still, it will be weird not having her in the Battle Castle."

I knew just what he meant. She was a huge part of this to, but Darach wasn't hesitant in letting her follow her dreams. "Darach, you can do it! Tell her to go out on a journey! It'll help her control her powers."

Darach put his hand to his chest. "I will gladly. Thank you." With that, he walked back into the Castle, and I went to get some rest.
