World Burn
We had gotten our mission. An impossible one, but our mission regardless. I looked at my best friend, brother and partner. He nodded once, his eyes showing me that he knew just as well as I did that we were both likely to die. With an equal amount of seriousness, I nodded back. The chances of us managing this mission, let alone survive it was close to zero, and we both knew it. All five Kages had fought against him and lost. Even if both Itachi and I could be considered equal in strength to a Kage, we were just two. Our only advantage was that we, like Madara, were of the Uchiha bloodline and therefore used similar fighting styles. Of course, that advantage wasn't much, considering that Madara fought years before we were even born, and that the fighting style Itachi and I had learned, was far different from what Madara himself used. Regardless, we knew what we had to do. We had to fight. Even if all we managed was to slow him down while the Allied Shinobi Forced dealt with the Jubi, we had to do so with all our might. It was a mission almost guaranteeing our deaths, but it was our duty to do it.
The thirteen-year-old ANBU Captains were considered young for their profession, but no one could deny that they had talent. Which was why the Hokage had tasked the two of them in particular with the mission of bringing down and destroying an uprising organization of missing nins. The two captains had planned the mission carefully, deciding on codes for all possible situations, they were about as prepared as possible with the limited information they had. Akira landed on the roof of the building, making no sound. She allowed herself a second to check that Itachi had gotten into the basement safely, before sneaking in through a window just below the roof. The room she entered was rather boring, with grey walls and floor, a black table with four black chairs surrounding it. Even the three missing nins sitting it three of the chairs were solely wearing black. One of them noticed her, but Akira acted quickly and cast a Sharingan Genjutsu on all of them before they could sound any alarm. Swiftly, she cut the throat of all three of them, and carefully laid their heads on the table so there wouldn't be any noise. She knew that it was luck that she managed to do this so easily. Had one of them been a sensor, or reacted any quicker, she would have been discovered. She mentally prayed that Itachi had been equally lucky. They had no idea how strong the missing nins here were, nor did they know what they would find in the building. They had entered with pretty much no idea what to expect but plans for all the possible scenarios they could think of. Akira calmly opened the door out of the room, not sensing anyone outside, but made sure to check carefully before leaving regardless. Better careful than dead. She worked her way through the top floor easily, with the exception of the room she first entered, there was no one else at that floor, giving her easy access to plant the explosive seals she had brought. They had been timed to go off in exactly one hour. If everything went according to the plan, both Itachi and her would be out in fifty minutes, giving them ten minutes extra time in case something went wrong, before the building exploded. Suddenly a harsh flare of chakra snapped Akira's attention away from the final seal she was placing. 'Itachi's chakra flare… That's a Code Omega.' Akira realized, paling at what that meant. Code Omega meant emergency on the highest level. Code Omega meant that the mission had gone from hard to impossible.
Madara had been sitting completely still, only observing everything going on, when Itachi and I reached him. Itachi, being the polite bastard he is, nodded politely to his ancestor. I rolled my eyes at that.
"So Obito was wrong in thinking he and Sasuke were the last Uchiha's after the massacre." Madara stated, not at all sounding surprised. "You've both proved yourself worthy of the name on the battle-field. I'm impressed by your skills. I assume the two of you were the ones who took care of the Reanimation Caster as well?"
"That would be correct." Itachi confirmed, ever the polite one.
"But apparently, it didn't take." I added with a sigh.
"That would be correct." Madara mocked Itachi's tone while simultaneously answering my question. I crossed my arms and glared at him. No one got to mock Itachi but me. "Still, the two of you have proved yourself truly strong Shinobi, so I guess that means all isn't completely lost. Nevertheless, you can't beat me. I'm stronger, and I can't die."
Akira heard the fight happening on the first floor the second she opened the door, ready to rush towards the staircase. 'Kami, please let Itachi be alright!' she mentally prayed while hurrying down the stairs. She could tell from the noise that he was alive, probably, but she still worried that he had gotten seriously hurt. It took her only thirty seconds to reach the first floor, where she found Itachi fighting about twenty nins at the same time. As it was, he was generally unhurt, but she could tell he was starting to tire. Akira used a Shunshin to appear at his side, just in time to block his left arm from being sliced by a Katana.
"You good?" She asked and used her chakra-fuelled tanto to push back the nin that had tried to strike Itachi.
"Good enough." Was his simple response. Akira quickly scanned the room. Twenty missing nins, all at least Chunin judging from the way they held themselves. Quick planning really wasn't her strength, and they hadn't really anticipated such a high level and number among their enemies. Akira and Itachi were both strong, but so were a lot of these guys. Not to mention that they were ten times the manpower of the ANBU Duo. If even one individual managed to either get out or survive, it was pretty much guarantied that the Elemental Nations would know of Konoha's involvement in the slaughter of the organization, something other nations could use against them. In other words, the teens either had to kill all twenty missing nins or risk starting another war.
"Leaf trash! You're clearly outnumbered! Give up and we won't torture you to death!" the man who appeared to be the leader of the group yelled at us.
"Oh do shut up, we all know that's not happening!" Akira groaned and readied herself for the fight.
My Eternal Mangekyo blazed fiercely from underneath my lenses. I glared at Madara as he slowly stood up. He looked almost bored at the thought of fighting us, like he saw us as beneath him. 'Well, he probably does… Actually, that might be to our advantage…' I realized, making sure to keep my expression neutral.
"It appears we have another Code Omega." I told Itachi with a significant look.
"So it would seem." Itachi responded with a sigh. I unsealed my tanto and got into my normal fighting stance.
"Let's go!" I ordered and quickly started using my Shunshin as fast as I could. We coordinated my slices and attacks with Itachi's own weapons and jutsus. Our teamwork was practically flawless, but Madara still looked more like he was playing than actually having a hard time. He easily blocked my attacks with the tanto before easily evading Itachi's fire jutsu. Never had I met an opponent who could not only avoid and stop all of my attacks when I used the Shunshin, but at the same time look bored and uninterested. He didn't even bother attacking back.
"Let's level it up a bit, shall we?" Madara asked us and intercepted my next attack, easily disarming me and throwing me away before shooting a large fire jutsu at Itachi, forcing the younger Uchiha to use a replacement. "I will admit that your coordination is almost perfect. You are both excellent at what you're doing, but unfortunately, you'll need to be quicker and even better coordinated if you want to give me a challenge."
My breath was uneven and tired, and my left wrist was aching from being disarmed so harshly. Itachi didn't seem to be doing any better as he helped me up again. Madara smirked arrogantly at us.
"Let's see how powerful your eyes are." He stated and activated his Susanoo. "Can you keep up with the perfect Susanoo?"
I took a calming breath and felt the green skeleton of my Susanoo start forming around me, quickly gaining muscles and an armour. Next to me, Itachi's red Susanoo was ready to go.
"Oh? Two Perfect Susanoo? Now I'm intrigued." Madara commented as he observed the two humanoid forms protecting Itachi and I. "Now let's see how well you can use them!"
He didn't give us any time to prepare before charging forward.
"There's too many!" Akira panted exhaustedly after slicing the neck of yet another nin trying to kill her and open the exit. On the other side of the room, Itachi looked equally tired as he fended off more missing nins. A loud bang brought their attention to a newly made hole in the wall. "Fuck! Plan Chi!"
Itachi didn't miss a beat as he activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and created a wall of Amaterasu flames, stopping the nins from exiting. Akira followed up by lighting her own black flames, and together they managed to cover the entire wall in fire. Plan Chi was their absolute last resort attack formation, purely because it took more of them than it usually needed and mainly relied on their Mangekyo Sharingan. They followed it up by activating their Susanoo. The room started filling with panicked chatter.
"What the fuck are theses nins?" was heard from one right before Akira beheaded him with her Susanoo Tanto. Akira was desperately praying to whatever Kami was listening that she had enough chakra to keep her Susanoo up until every last one of the missing nins were dead, though considering the strain she felt in her eyes, she might be asking for too much.
