Twilight doesn't belong to me

Jasper's Outtake of Chapter 26

If one were to look outside my house or pull into the driveway, they would find me standing in the front yard with my head tilted back. The snow fell softly around me, sticking to my blond curls and upon my face. I wore nothing more than a light weight jacket over one of my t-shirts. My jeans were ones that didn't cost more than a kid's college loans (thanks Alice), along with a pair of military styled boots.

I smiled gently as I thought of my Bella, if it weren't for her, I wouldn't have bought the boots to begin with. She remined me how you could take the man out of the military, but you couldn't take the military out of the man. She hated how she missed the chance of celebrating Memorial Day with me, I had already gone to Alaska by the time it came so she had made sure that I would buy the boots because she wanted me to wear more military ensembles.

The front door slammed open, a rarity in this house, "Jasper! It's Bella!"

I stiffened, in less than a second, I was standing next to my sister. Alice peered up at me with worry in her golden eyes, she reached her hand out and took my hand in hers before she pulled us into the house. She shut the front door behind her, and we went into the living room, where Esme stood with a phone in her hand—her features were shocked, she didn't know what to do.

"Esme? Esme!"

Alice's voice broke Esme from her frozen state, it was enough that Esme grabbed her traveling wallet that held her driver's license. She was a blur, not stopping, I couldn't help but reach the passenger door as soon as Esme had reached the driver's door.

She didn't say anything, knowing Bella was my mate, because she would have done the same thing if Carlisle were a human instead of a vampire. I slipped into the passenger seat; Esme turned on the car. We pelted out of the driveway. Alice and Edward stood in the garage, watching us leave.

God was on our side as we drove across town to Charlie's house. There was no traffic, in fact there was no car that was on the road. There weren't any police cruisers waiting to stop us if they saw us driving, no they wouldn't have even seen us, Esme was driving that fast. She was pushing her car to its limit, her youngest daughter needed her, and the devil be even more damned if she wasn't there for her.

The moment we arrived in front of Charlie's house we were welcomed with the stench of wet dog, allowing us to know one of the wolf-shifters had been here. I knew who it would be, the so-called childhood best friend, Jacob Black. Bella had barely talked to him in the almost year that she had been here. I was sure she only saw him two times, since she claimed he wasn't there when she last went up to La Push—he was apparently sick, which meant he was Phasing.

A low warning hiss escaped through my lips as I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the passenger door. Esme reached her hand out and placed it on my bicep, I turned my head towards her. She shook her head, "no, Jasper. I go in first if I can't sense anyone you can come in."

"She's my mate, not yours," I bit at her, she merely peered at me without any fear in her eyes. She narrowed her eyes instead, "I am your mother, Jasper Whitlock Hale and you will listen to me! I don't like to do this but I'm your leader's mate, to go against me is to go against Carlisle."

I bowed to her, knowing the last thing I wanted to do was disappointment the family once more. She leant forward and kissed me on the forehead before she got out of the car and made her way across the street. She opened the front door before she entered, stopping for a moment and closing her eyes before she turned towards me—nodding her head to let me know I could come inside.

Getting out of the car I didn't even shut the passenger door shut, instead I crossed the street when I didn't sense any humans at vampiric speed. She was already further into the house, gasping when she saw Bella on the floor. She fell onto the ground and picked Bella up, cradling her to her. Bella's arm was crooked, disgusting to some but not to us. Her scars were very prominent in front of us, but we weren't there to see how the scars were doing. We were there because that mutt had broken my mate's arm, most likely due to her standing up for us.

"I'm going to kill that bastard," I hissed aloud, only for Esme to shake her head, "no, Jasper. Do not stoop to his level. Bella will let us know how she wants this to be dealt with, when the time comes, we will respect her decision. We will make sure that none of this happens again, none of those animals will ever be near my daughter again."

It was rare when Esme became like this. She knew what her children could do, she knew they could protect themselves. Bella on the other hand, was her newest daughter, if she were even a vampire then she would be the same. Of course, that would mean Bella's arm would be ripped from her. But right now, she was human, and her arm was practically shattered from Jacob.

Esme handed Bella over to me, and I held her in my arms tenderly as we went outside and got into the car. I held her so softly in my arms, one of my hands went up and started running my fingers through her locks. They were tangled and I began to focus on making sure her hair was not tangled anymore. I had to keep my mind from the blood that was flowing oddly in her arm, more present than normal, or the venom that was starting to fill my mouth. I had to swallow the venom, the bitter taste reminding me that I wasn't human again. Reminding me I was just as dangerous as those mutts across the border, we were their supposed leeches.

The moment we parked into the clinic parking lot; Carlisle came out of the clinic ready to take care of Bella. I got out of the car; my arms wanted to tighten around my Bella, but I knew it wasn't supposed to go this way. I wasn't going to hurt her even more than Jacob had done.

I heard a soft distress rumble come from Carlisle; his eyes were starting to fill with venom, but he managed to get rid of them. He reached his arms out for me to place Bella into them. I did so without any hesitation, there was no onyx that was in his eyes. There was the composed golden eyed vampire we all knew and loved. The vampire that never strayed from animal blood.

Esme reached over and wrapped her arms around me, shooshing me as I dry sobbed. I didn't want to imagine what would have happened if Jacob had gotten even more angry at Bella, I didn't want to imagine that she would be torn and ripped at as though she was a chew toy. I didn't want to think of her eyes being glazed over, there not being any smile upon her lips.

"Come on, darling. Let's let Carlisle take care of her. He'll let us know how it went when he comes home. I promise," Esme whispered before she led us to the car. We both got in and she drove back home. I was silent the whole time, there was no reason for me to speak. I wouldn't do so until I would find out what had become of my mate.

Carlisle came home, telling us that Bella had something she wanted to tell us tomorrow. Alice had a poker face this time; she didn't show any emotion towards what Carlisle had just said. For once I didn't demand for her to show me what she saw when it came to Bella, because I knew that tomorrow something big was going to happen and I should be there to hold Bella's hand as she told us the news.

It was a good thing that vampires couldn't sleep, I wouldn't be able to if I even had the ability to do so. I could tell that everyone was the same, even Rosalie had a fury deep within her directed towards the wolves. She might not utterly understand Bella, but she was still a member of the family, especially since Bella had been given the crest. To go after Bella, would be going after the coven.

When it was time to go and pick up Bella, Alice came up to me and placed her hand on my shoulder, "be strong, brother. Please allow Carlisle to pick her up. She doesn't need you coddling her, she is strong, and she has more important things to attend to than being driven here by you."

I bowed my head down, "I give my blessing, Carlisle. Bring her home, please."

Carlisle bowed his head, this whole motion quite common in family-oriented covens. We mostly did this with Carlisle and Esme since they were the leaders of the coven but Carlisle bowing to me for the first time ever really showed me how much our family cared about Bella. Roles be damned, she was our family, not that stupid mutt's family in the end.

I sat down on one of the sofas and allowed my eyes to trail over to the trees in the backyard. Rosalie stood by the back door, there was no emotion that was higher than stress. Emmett was next to her, neither of them were touching but they were close to each other and that was what mattered. Edward was sitting on one of the arm chairs, Alice was leant against the chair while Esme was standing near the fireplace. Her eyes were on the photographs that were on the mantle, one of them was Bella with all of us—the whole family standing in the garden. We looked like a true family, a true coven, that had all our mates in the photograph.

There was no conversation going on between Bella and Carlisle when they pulled into the driveway. They came through the garage and when the door that led into the kitchen opened relief flooded throughout me. The whole family seemed to loosen their muscles, as Bella came in. She was wearing slip on shoes, a comfortable pair of sweatpants and sweatshirt. Her hair fell in a natural slight wave style. Carlisle was holding her arm in his, a gentlemanly manner.

Before I could think I was in the doorway that separated the living room and the dining room. I wrapped my arms around her and led her into the living room so we could sit on the loveseat. She glanced around the room, seeing where everyone was before she looked over at me.

Carlisle came into the room, moving so that he was next to Esme. He cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention. "I have called a family meeting because Bella has something, she wants to tell us that affects the whole family, not just her."

Alice was beaming where she had stood (she had gotten up from her spot at the armchair along with Edward), almost jumping up and down in excitement. Edward was holding his arm around her, calm and making sure that she would slowly calm down too. She didn't need to scare off Bella.

Rosalie hadn't moved from her spot; she was still where she had been before. She was looking out the windows still. Emmett was next to her.

"Go ahead and tell us, Bella," Esme assured, her voice was rich honey. She smiled at her surrogate daughter, waiting with patience.

Bella looked down at her shoes as she blushed, "I—I'm sure that yesterday you learnt about what happened to me. Jacob Black—" without thinking all of us hissed, especially Rosalie, when we had heard Bella speak his name—"decided that he should warn me about you all. When I told him, I knew what he was and claimed that he was a real wolf in sheep's clothing he broke my arm. I chose you, and I'll keep choosing you, so I terminated my so-called friendship with him. I'm an enemy of the wolf-shifters now."

No one said anything, the cracking of the fireplace being the only sound in the room other than her breathing. "I woke up in the clinic and realized. I've never had a true family, yes, I love Charlie and Renee. Renee isn't there for me. I'm sure she only checks to make sure that I'm still alive. Charlie tries his best and it's not the same. It's always been odd between us.

"When I came here to Forks, I didn't expect anything different but then I met you all. I learnt that you were vampires, I didn't immediately accept you, that much I know, but you are my true family. I have parents who love me unconditionally, and are there when I need them, not a second too late. I have siblings I never I would be blessed with. A mate who loves me just the way I am and would go through obstacles to face them head on instead of giving up…" Bella took a deep breath, Rosalie had turned her head to the side, letting us know she was listening.

"What I'm trying to say is…I want to be a vampire."

Silence and then voices were hitting us at all angles. She couldn't grasp what was happening. Esme was excited along with Alice. Edward was happy, along with Emmett. Carlisle was able to show that he was elated (I knew he would never be able to show how he felt about this when he first learnt that she wanted to join our family completely), Rosaline merely turned to Bella with a disappointed look, shook her head, and then walked out of the house.

Alice sighed, "I know that you want us to have a vote to see if the whole family agrees Carlisle but everyone except for Rosalie have agreed to have Bella changed into a vampire. She'll come to terms to it eventually, but it will take a while. Just know that Rosalie doesn't hate you. Far from it."

Bella could only nod her head, but with that out of the way, she added, "I want to be changed when I'm twenty. I know that it's a little older than you. I just want to experience college a little bit and be old enough that I don't have to live with Charlie anymore.

"By then we all will be gone, and we won't have to worry about people wondering what had happened and thinking you had something to do with this. Oh, and we'll have to do it anyway outside of Forks, since there's the whole not biting policy you have between you and the wolf-shifters."

The whole time that she was talking I could only think about Bella being changed, I would make sure she would be calm. I would run my fingers through her hair, give her soft kisses, and assure her that everything would be all right.

"That will be perfect, and yes, he will be the one to change you!" Alice chimed in, making Bella blush and send her a narrowed look. Alice giggled before she took Edward's arm and moved closer to me and Bella. They sat down on the stylish couch and Esme along with Carlisle went to sit in their own armchairs.

"She didn't even ask him the question, love," Edward pointed out, Alice merely waved her hand in dismissal, "details, details!"

Bella sighed and turned to look at me. Her big brown eyes were expectant, she quietly asked me, "so will you? Will you be the one who will change me? If you don't want to, I'm sure—"

"Yes."

My voice was soft, a mere whisper, but it was enough conviction that tears were starting to fall down her eyes in happiness. A few fell and she laughed, all the tension in her began to flow out of her. She didn't have to worry about me telling her that I wouldn't change her, because I knew she would rather me change her then Carlisle in the end.

Bella leant up against me, and I wrapped my arms around her without hesitation. She let her eyes close, the stress of the week she had been battling with was finally subsiding. She could finally take a breath and know that another thing in her life was coming together.

It wasn't until she left that all came crashing down on me. I stood on the back porch of the house, the cool wind hitting me. It was later in the day, the sun was still high in the sky, and it would be a few hours before it would go down. I closed my eyes and just took in the crisp cool air, none of it could affect me. There was no temperature that could take me for surprise, there was no way that I would have the cold air make me shiver. There was nothing that could turn my fingers blue or have my teeth chattering, I just stood there as though I were a statue.

The back door opened, I opened my eyes—they were a swirl of obsidian and topaz. My vampiric senses wanted me to stay where Bella had sat because it wanted to be where her blood was surging before. I closed my eyes and flinched, quietly telling myself everything would be okay.

"You don't have to do it."

I turned; Rosalie stood in front of me in her expensive ensemble. There was no hair out of place on her head. Her high heeled boots would look whorish on others, but she managed to make them look simple instead of extravagant. Her black sweater with diamonds sewn on the neckline of the sweater shimmered from the sunlight. She wore lighter washed jeans, they fit her smug and showed off the curves that she had been given when she was alive but more pointed and refined in her second life.

I went to respond to her but was stopped when Carlisle came up behind Rosalie. She turned her head, her golden irises meeting her creator. Carlisle reached out and went to put his hand on her shoulder in fatherly manner, only for Rosalie to shake her head and stalk into the living room—went up her stairs and shut the door to her and Emmett's bedroom.

Leaning against the frame of the porch I leant my head back and allowed the sun to hit my face. My skin began to glisten from the sunlight, but it only lasted a few seconds before a cluster of clouds came and covered it up again.

"Do you want to take a walk with me?"

I turned my head, noting that Carlisle was in the back doorway, his topaz eyes calm and collected. I nodded my head; Carlisle came forward and went down the stairs of the porch. I followed next to him, neither of us saying anything. We didn't say anything until we were closer to the waters.

"I know that you're nervous, Jasper. It scares you that you'll end up killing her when you change her. You are cursed, such as I, you have drunk blood in the past, and I have never drunk blood. Know though that either of us could lose control, you are familiar with the taste and I am one who is not. I still am a vampire, but my love overcame my hunger for everyone. I did not drink the others dry; I cannot say what happened to you or Alice and how your creators were, but I know that I bit only deep enough for the venom to act. I can be with you when you change Bella, I can watch over and make sure nothing happens," Carlisle softly offered me.

I focused on him, taking in all the emotions that were around him, and knew he was telling the absolute truth. Carlisle never lied; he had never lied to us. So, I knew without a doubt that he was genuine.

When I looked at him completely there was venom that was rising in my eyes. Carlisle stood in front of me with his arms open. "Come, son."

I flew forward and wrapped my arms around him. He held me, rocking me. He leant down and kissed me on the forehead. In his arms I knew I was safe; he and Esme were the ones that I tried the hardest to please. They were the ones I looked to for approval, the ones who cared for me the most.

"What am I supposed to do, Dad? I want to be the one to change her, so badly, but what if I mess up? What if I drain her dry and you can't stop me? What if I attack you?" I couldn't help but babble, that young southern boy from long ago came springing out—the young southern human boy that wanted nothing more than to please his father, no matter what, came out.

"Ask God for strength, He will provide you it. Your family is there for you. We will help no matter what. I will be there with you the whole way if you want me to be. I will help you, Jasper," Carlisle mumbled into my forehead. I listened more intently, hearing the message he had for me better.

"Thank you, Dad. That means a lot to me," I whispered to him, earning a chuckle from him. The wind rushed by us, the trees bristled and howled against the river. Carlisle moved away from me and kept his arm around my shoulder. He towered over me; his pale features the most like an angel. Everyone agreed in the family that Carlisle looked so pure because he was pure.

"You're welcome. Now let's back to the house." Carlisle moved us towards the house again, our footprints being left behind in the snow. We strolled in human speed, there was no reason why I needed to hurry forward. Spending time with Carlisle by myself was a rarity, so having a father-son walk and conversation meant I needed to take it all in one step at a time.

Esme was on the porch when we came up. She was holding a mug of herbal tea in her hands, one of her signature shawls was draped across my shoulders. Her features were gentle as she saw us enter the glade. The back door was shut, she wouldn't let the heat inside the house escape.

"Did you have a good talk?" Esme probed when we went up the stairs and reached her. Carlisle bent his head down and kissed her on the head before he nodded his head. I nodded my head too, "yeah. I know what to do now."

I would be the one to change Bella into a vampire.
