Somehow in the middle of the night, she winds up moving closer to him and burying her nose in his T-shirt covered chest and entwining their legs. He wakes up first as usual and cannot figure out how to extricate himself from this situation without waking her. This is a great way to wake up though, he thinks. He misses the simple comfort of having someone close to him and feeling her breathing is very relaxing. He decides to enjoy whatever time he has. He runs his hand through her long golden locks and strokes her back.

She is awake before he realizes, but continues to fake sleep so he won't be tempted to stop what he's doing. This is the best feeling. It's intoxicating. It is easily the most comforting touch since her father's hugs after her mom died. She can't even remember when she truly cuddled last. Maybe Cerberus…

He senses a change in her breathing pattern. "Morning, sweetheart. You want some breakfast?"

She nods but doesn't move. He resumes petting her hair. They lay this way for another few minutes, before she shifts to stretch. He kisses her forehead and climbs out of bed making a beeline for the kitchen. She showers and gets ready and he finishes eating before she comes out. He hands her a plate and then goes to shower himself.

As he emerges, toweling off his curls but fully dressed, he says, "So I was thinking that we could get out some today…"

"What did you have in mind?"

"Maybe a swim? Doc says the boot can come off if I'm working the leg in the water. Non-weight bearing and all…"

She hums her acceptance.

They pack up swim gear and drive to the base's rec center. Each checks in independently of one another. It feels like sneaking around to them both. He's a beast in the water, so much so she can't tell he's injured. But when he gets out there is no question that he's feeling it. None of his muscles are conditioned for this now. He's also starving. "Tacos?"

She nods. They choose without consciously discussing it to go to the team's second favorite taco place, because going to the other doesn't feel right and feels a little exposed.

The rest of the week passes in much the same fashion - cooking, eating, reading, watching movies, listening to music, working out, and sleeping together. It doesn't get old and in fact gets more and more comfortable for both.
