Chapter 45

Upon impact of the spell, Sage's body twitched, the wooden floor creaking under her weight. She didn't wake up immediately, but none of the people present dared to move until she slowly opened her eyes. Hagrid sighed audibly from the back of the hut, whilst Neville hurried to her side. Placing her head in his lap, he gently stroked her face. Fortunately, it already felt considerably less hot in his hands.

"Welcome back," he whispered softly, a faint smile on his lips.

"What a lovely welcoming committee," she noted in response, a tired grin spread across her face.

The tip of her pointing finger brushed over his momentary double-chin, as he looked down to her on the floor. He must've looked ridiculous from her perspective.

"I can't believe that just worked," Ginny admitted in relief, "This was like.. the most basic healing spell possible."

"It certainly was a much better idea than using the Glacius charm. Well done, Neville," Luna praised him, gently patting him on the shoulder.

"I can' believe the mess yeh have gotten yourself inter. Secret lessons by the forbidden forest? Far too dangerous, if yeh ask me," Hagrid added, shaking his head in worry.

"We need to do something, Hagrid," Ginny argued.

"But why must it be summat risky like this? Jus' stick ter the drawings on the wall, will yeh?"

"We won't just sit back and watch Snape destroy Hogwarts alongside the Carrows. Not as long as we still can prevent it."

"Why can' yeh jus listen ter me fer once.."

Though Neville and Sage were well aware of the argument taking place above their heads, neither of them cared to join. Instead the two just looked at each other, not exactly saying a word, yet speaking one and the same language. Together nothing could stop them anyway.
