Breaking Traditions-Part 34:
Lucius and Narcissa had dared themselves to dream and had begun to work a little more on the nursery. Were they getting a little reckless and ahead of themselves? Maybe but they'd had a decent sign of hope and were allowing themselves to prepare the nursery but they'd stopped short of putting the chosen name on the wall encased in fairies and unicorn as they'd imagined from the start.
"No we won't do that," Lucius had said, "we don't want to tempt fate too much," he said and Narcissa had nodded as she sighed.
"I want to… but I know why you don't want to do it," she said, "that would really be tempting too much fate and I don't want to lose this when we are so close to what we've dreamt of. I know you didn't at first Luc, but now I can see that you want it too."
Lucius wrapped his arms around his wife's waist and held her close, kissing her head softly.
"You're right. This was your dream at first but now it's mine as well. I never realized how much I wanted a daughter until we got closer and closer to meeting the baby. I want this just as much as you now and I don't really want to lose this now."
Narcissa had sunk into Lucius' body and felt his arms snake around her waist and he kissed her softly before he deepened it. The desire he had for her rising up once more and he needed her. He carried her to the bedroom and soon they were back in their bedroom and being intimate in so many ways.
The next day the couple headed back to the orphanage and were soon inside and asked if anyone else had shown interest in the baby. Much to their relief there hadn't which meant that Druella hadn't heard about the baby and that filled them with hope.
Lucius and Narcissa were shown to where the baby was and Narcissa instantly picked up their possible daughter and asked about feeding her. The carer nodded before Narcissa passed the baby over to Lucius and he looked at her in shock.
"Open your shirt a little and rest her cheek against your skin," Narcissa said as she sat beside him with the bottle prepped.
"Why me? You fed her last time," he said before she shook her head.
"You also need to bond with her. You said you wanted to be more hands on so might as well start now," Narcissa said before biting her lip as Lucius sighed and undid his shirt slightly, gasping as he felt the baby's soft skin on his chest.
Narcissa smiled before the baby began to cry. Lucius went to pass her back and Narcissa shook her head and handed him the bottle. Lucius looked at her before positioning the baby so he could feed her. It was clear the baby was hungry and Lucius knew he had to feed her; Narcissa had made sure that he was the one feeding the baby this time.
Narcissa could see that Lucius really didn't have a clue what he was doing so she gently guided him through what he needed to do. He was grateful for that and he looked down at the baby and smiled but began to get frustrated as the baby wouldn't latch on properly.
"Calm down and give it another go. The baby is probably picking up that you're anxious," Narcissa said before she gently kissed Lucius' neck and ran a hand down his chest and stroked the baby girl's cheek. She felt Lucius relaxing at her touch and he nodded softly at her before trying to get the baby to latch onto the bottle,
It took a few more attempts but the baby began to latch onto the bottle, much to the relief of Lucius and he watched as the baby drank the milk. He was trying not to fall in love with the little thing but he couldn't help it and he couldn't stop himself, allowing a tiny hand to clasp around his little finger.
Narcissa just smirked as she saw and knew exactly what was happening and realized that her husband was falling in love with the baby girl as much as she had. She felt eyes on her and she looked at him before pulling the bottle away.
"Do not ever let a baby suck on air," she said, "it will not help so always make sure there is a little milk left in the bottom," she said before explaining to him about after the feed.
The two watched the baby for a few minutes before the carer came in and the three sat and arranged more visits with the baby as they needed to build a bond and see if they could keep the baby feeding and settled. This pleased Lucius and Narcissa greatly and they were happy to go at the pace the orphanage wanted them to go at.
During the next few weeks Lucius and Narcissa began to spend a lot of time at the orphanage and both began to build a connection to the baby. This pleased Lucius as he had been worried about not being able to strike up a bond with the baby but, eventually, he was bonding with the baby, not as much as Narcissa was but still the baby felt comfortable around him as well.
About six weeks later the Head Carer called Lucius and Narcissa into her office and said that she felt that they were ready to have the baby for the night. Of course this delighted Lucius and Narcissa and the two discussed everything with the Head Carer and then were given a list of things that they had to do. When asked if they had support they confirmed that they did and that the Manor would be be ready for the baby when the night arrived.
Once they'd apparated home they spoke to the parents and then the plan of action was decided upon. All were thankful that Druella remained unaware. Cygnus had revealed that she was in France visiting family, much to the relief of everyone. The only question on everyone's mind was would the night stop go well or would it all fall apart at the final hurdle?
