Mom, Secrets And More

Chapter 39

The next morning as Amanda and Jamie arrived at the Agency and Amanda pulled into the parking lot and parked in a space, Jamie asked," Mom, will we see Mr. Stetson today?"

Amanda, turning off the car shrugged as she unbuckled her seat belt and looked at Jamie. "I dunno, Sweetheart. Remember, we're here to go see Dr. Pfaff for our therapy session. I'm sure Mr. Stetson's very busy right now, but when I get back to work later I'll tell him you said hello, alright?"

Jamie nodded as he unbuckled his seat belt and exited the car with Amanda. She led him inside to the foyer where Mrs. Marston was.

Amanda stated, "Good morning. The password is Gumdrop. My son Jamie and I are here to see Dr. Pfaff."

Mrs. Marston nodded responding as she gave Amanda her ID and Jamie's guest pass, "I'll phone him right now and tell him you're on your way."

Amanda stated, "Thank you." then leading Jamie to the elevator, they both got inside and Amanda pressed the floor button they needed and they headed down.

Exiting the elevator a few moments later, Amanda led Jamie down a long corridor and then taking a right, arrived outside Dr. Pfaff's office and Amanda stated, "Now Honey, you understand that he wants to talk to us first because of our being kidnapped and taken to the mountain cabin, right?"

Jamie shrugged and commented, "Yeah Mom, but what's that got to do with what Mr. Stetson and I went through?"

Amanda patiently answered, "Well Sweetheart, apparently Mr. Hawkins was a part of that as well, although we only saw Hank the night we were in the cabin. I heard about that from the police that were investigating the bomb incident. It all ties together in a way..."

Seeing the confused look on her son's face she patted his arm remarking, "Don't worry, Jamie. You just tell Dr. Pfaff what you remember and I'll do the same, huh?"

Jamie sighed responding, "Okay, but is it ever gonna be over for us? I-I don't wanna be afraid any more, Mom."

Just then Dr. Pfaff came out of his office and greeting Amanda and Jamie replied, "Good morning, Amanda, Jamie... Ready to start?"

They nodded and went in sitting down on the couch as Dr. Pfaff got his notepad and pen and took the chair from in front of his desk and placed it across from the couch and seated himself down stating to Jamie, "I understand this is your first time here but I want to assure you that anything we discuss will not leave this room, all right? Now, have you had any sort of therapy before?"

Jamie nodded and commented, "Yeah. Mom took my brother and me to therapy after she and our dad split up."

Dr. Pfaff glanced at Amanda who nodded and he wrote some things down answering, "I see. It must have been very difficult for you boys. Do you still go?"

Jamie shook his head remarking, "We haven't in a long time because we're not as mad any more..."

Amanda perplexed at his comment put up a finger to Dr. Pfaff responding, "Just a minute, please."

She then asked Jamie, "What do you mean by that, Jamie? You and Phillip told me a while ago that everything was fine and you didn't need to go."

Jamie nodded slowly and replied hesitantly, "Yeah, we are fine. But I kinda wish Phillip was here so it wouldn't sound so dumb coming from me."

Amanda sighed and stated gently, "Honey, nothing you say is dumb. Now, tell me what you meant by "Not as mad any more".

Jamie sighed and commented quietly, "Well, we were mad at Dad then for leaving and at you for letting him go. We know it was wrong to feel that way but that's how it was. We didn't want you guys to hate us for feeling that way and I'm speaking for Phillip and myself now...We're sorry."

Amanda swallowed then not knowing what to make of this, and replied softly, "Well, Honey, your dad and I are both sorry for what we put you boys through. But as you know, we weren't happy any more and we didn't know how to fix things without it affecting you both. The three of us will talk later about this, all right? But now, I think we need to concentrate on our situation at the moment, don't you?"

Jamie nodded and commented to Dr. Pfaff, "Yes, Mom. Sorry, Dr. Pfaff."

Dr. Pfaff put up a hand answering, "Perfectly all right, Jamie. Now, the night you and your mother were taken from your home. Can you tell me what you remember?"
