Chapter 34: Order Restored

Alaerya's ship docked at the Asshai ports and she slowly disembarked, the ports were shadowy and dark. People were bustling around but their faces were hidden and their conversations hushed. This part of the world thrived in the shadow, the city of Asshai was known for its shadow binders and magical mysteries. The crew were edgy when they came here for trading half because they didn't enjoy interacting with their only client in Asshai and partly because they didn't like the place. Making her way slowly through the city Alaerya reflected on the last time she had been here so long ago. She had lost her temper and regretted it, something she knew the priestess who bore her fury would know also. It didn't mean she liked the woman but she regretted such a brash reaction. seeking out the flame Tempe of R'hllor Alaerya painstakingly climbed each step slowly. Reaching the top and turning to look out over the city of Asshai. It was huge and yet only portions of the city seemed inhabited. Other parts sat silent, unused or the inhabitants likely never ventured outside. Whatever it was the city had its mysteries and its magic, that was undeniable. This visit was different to last time, Alaerya had come for two reasons, to finally come to terms with the priestess and to instigate something in Asshai which could very well cost her life in the process. She'd seen this visit prominently in her dream walking practice and decided to seize the moment and confront it head on. Alaerya walked on through the enormous archways into the interior of the temple which felt cool despite the huge flame altar burning. A bent and frail woman who looked even older and in worse shape than Alaerya stood by the altar watching her approach. The women eyed each other for a short while before the priestess spoke, "I never thought you'd set foot in Asshai again Alaerya" her voice cracked and aged, the Ruby at her neck glowing dull.

"Neither did i Kinvara but it seems I have important work to do here before I leave this life" returned Alaerya with her aged and cracked voice.

The priestess smiled a toothless smile and thrust her hands in the flames, chanting and glowing red from the flame. Alaerya stood patiently and looked around tempted to touch the altar herself but decided not to.

Shortly after Kinvara returned to her body and spoke, "We do not object Lady Valreon, in fact the Lord welcomes what you bring. It will grow our strength and place us in a position of power somehow. The Lord thanks you for your service and expresses gratitude-"

"Spare me the speech Kinvara" said Alaerya drily, "what I'm here to do benefits you and that's the end of it."

Kinvara bowed slightly, "When you leave us the Lord will continue your arrangements with whoever controls Valreos after you."

"Good to know my family's business interest will remain like they have for 400 years"

"Has it been 400? Where does the time seem to go?" drawled old Kinvara.

"Tell me Kinvara where do I need to go next? And when I'm done how do I get out of this place alive? I don't want to die in this place"

Kinvaras old face smiled wickedly for a moment before becoming serious again, "Why we will protect you Lady Valreon"

Alaerya's didn't like this one bit, it would be too easy for this priestess to get revenge on her in a moment of vulnerability. But she recognised a lack of options and agreed.

"Good I'm doing this now come with me" said Alaerya with finality and shuffled away from the Red Priestess.

Kinvara protested now wasn't the right time but Alaerya ignored her, and exited the temple with young Kinvara chasing after her. It amused Alaerya how Kinvara always assumed her young self outside the temple. She had come to cling to her appearance while Alaerya had released the need to worry about her age. Alaerya ptessed on through the dark crowd of unusual sights and sounds until she reached the gates of her target.

Being so small she easily slipped through and faded into thin air, Kinvara was trapped on the outside being too large to pass through in her young form. In frustration she dropped her youthful glamour spell and slipped through the gate as her true old self. The old ladies bustled into the manor of the Asshai Governor, nothing was known of him outside of Asshai. Within Asshai he was absolute power, no one could conduct business or building without paying tribute to him. To cross him or otherwise was a most painful death, and this today was Alaerya's target. The point of her mission was simple, Asshai was blocking her progression of total control of the known world. The Shadow city bordered on the famous Shadow Lands, and her mission today was to destroy the shadows that had settled there hundreds of years ago. The shadows were just another form of the darkness that fuelled the fanatics who instigated the Doom in Valyria, and the darkness the Children of the Forest awoke to create the Night King. Eliminating this force and bringing it under her control will enable Alaerya's people to completely control their future by removing any path to destruction of their advanced society. It was a necessary mission to ensure the safety of her people and the inevitable progression of their conquest of the known world .

The women silently walked through the dark halls lit by dimly burning torches, everywhere the energy of death and destruction was present. Alaerya could smell blood in the air, and every now and then a faint scream rang through the air. She didn't like this place but it was a plan in motion she couldn't turn back now. Kinvara led her deep into the dark palace, eventually they drew closer to sounds. Unpleasant sounds of crying and screaming, the women entered the main hall of the palace. Kinvara didn't warn Alaerya what awaited them and Alaerya nearly emptied the contents of her stomach when she entered.

Along the walls, people were suspended bleeding and in various stages of dying, their blood pouring into huge urns which fed a pool in the centre of the hall. Some were flayed, others suspended upside down their blood emptying rapidly into the urns beneath them. Some moaned in pain, others screamed, some were silent. It was difficult to be in this room, Alaerya did her best to steel herself but it was hard. In amongst this horror was the governor of Asshai, he looked up at Kinvara with an odd look on his face.

"You're early priestess and where is my prize you've been promising me?" he spoke with greed and blood lust.

Kinvara looked around but Alaerya was gone.

"We have a problem Governor" she smiled silkily.

He frowned at her, "I want this powerful woman you've been telling me about for years. I need her blood, only then can we truly rule this world. Surely you're wanting to see the end of your enemy? Where is she?"

Kinvara stared at him and smiled, "She is here my Lord, I brought her to you"

The governor smiled a terrible smile as he pulled a chain and drew a slave girl to him. He removed a necklace from the girl and stroked the locket which trembled under his touch.

"Soon we will let you free Master" his eyes greedy. "Find this woman priestess, I want her magic" roared the governor the locket in his hand. Kinvara bowed to him and he looked pleased, "It would be my honour"

She left the room and returned a time later with Alaerya gagged and hands bound. Alaerya looked angrily at the priestess who was her captor and Kinvara smiled at her.

"She put up a good fight but I managed to capture her, I've dreamed of this moment for a long time" she said savagely getting her face close to Alaerya who knew she'd been betrayed. The Asshai Governor laughed loudly and terribly causing some of the people restrained to recoil in fear. Alaerya watched them as she surveyed the room, the governor held up the chain in his hand.

"We have wanted you here for a long time lady Alaerya, we can't let you keep conquering the world. That is our plan and we will defeat you here today."

Gloating on his power he held up the locket, "The power you fought so hard to survive and beat lives on in this object. When we unleash it the world will be swept with its power and I will rise up with it!"

The locket shook in his hand and he smiled opening it and letting it pour into the room, it was like a black cloud accompanied with a snarling roaring sound.

"Along with the Temple of R'hllor we will sweep the world and extinguish whole civilisations who oppose us. The world will be enslaved by us and we will retain all the power you've sought in your long and pathetic life. We almost had you in Valyria yet you escaped but you won't escape now" his voice spoke deep and ethereal, the darkness using him as a vessel to speak through.

Alaerya watched as the terrible energy swirled around the room never taking her eyes off it, she felt the ropes binding her and the presence of the treacherous priestess next to her. She fixed her purple gaze on the Governor as he fervently watched the darkness whirl around the room. He was completely transfixed by it, and completely unaware of the danger that was in the room. Kinvara also stared at the darkness her face greedy and gloating. Neither of them saw Alaerya materialise behind the governor draw her blade and wordlessly slit the Governor's throat. He crumpled to the ground gurgling and grasping his neck, as he dropped to the floor Alaerya looked at herself imprisoned by Kinvara and laughed. Not expecting this turn of events Kinvara didn't notice her until the darkness swirled down over and around Alaerya as she drew it into her. It couldn't resist or escape her pull and it surrounded her in a black vortex of darkness, and hatred. Her eyes glowed purple as her flames burst out of her skin subduing and consuming this darkness. Kinvara froze when she realised Alaerya was wielding the magic and the governor was dead, Alaerya saw the panic rising in her eyes

Kinvara frantically looked at who she had taken prisoner and the Alaerya she thought was her prisoner burst into flames in her arms. The flames swirled around her lashing her and rejoined the vortex subduing the darkness.

Kinvara tried to mask the panic by planning to pretend it was her plan all along, Alaerya's voice boomed in her mind.

"I knew you would betray me"

The last thing Kinvara saw was spears of stone hurtling towards her, she was impaled in the wall bleeding, clinging to life before her eyes glazed over and her aged form returned.

Alaerya watched Kinvara die before her eyes and smiled, the flames exploded around her as she poured more energy into controlling this energy. The vortex whirled closer to her body and began disappearing into her skin, she felt the darkness coursing through her. It felt terrible, powerful and enticing all at once. The weak would've enjoyed wielding this energy but she knew better. Her energy was much stronger, and as it became tamed by her she glowed white filling the room with the most light it had seen ever. When she was finished and the last of the light had faded she looked around the room at the horrors she saw. The former Governors prisoners lives had all drained away, the bloody urns spilling all over the floor. Blood covered the floor, and dripped down the walls. Spotting the locket Alaerya stopped to pick it up and kept it for further scrutiny. She knew what she wanted to do with this place, first she scoured it for any items of power or value. Satisfied everything had been collected and stored in the enchanted bag she carried she sent out her mind to Vaella. Knowing her ride was never far from her Alaerya met her at the top of the tower, slowly climbing onto her back she looked out over Asshai. It would need a new name after today.

Rising high into the air and looking across the shadow lands she smiled, another major obstacle will be gone. And as she watched, the shadow began to dissipate, the sun began to shine down on Asshai and as Alaerya looked down at the governors palace the ground trembled and shook violently. A chasm opened up splitting the palace into pieces and it crumbled into the ground. The power from the working of magic caused the earth around it to roll and crack, Asshai crumbled and broke. Whole neighbourhoods collapsing or falling into the earth as it opened. Alaerya was most satisfied when she saw the Temple of R'hllor split into pieces and crumbled loudly into a pile of nothing. As the earth steadied and the devastation settled, Asshai was gone. Alaerya smiled as she saw the visions of the future for this area unfolded, reaching into her pocket she flung handfuls of leaves into the sky over the ruined city of Asshai. Vaella circled around the buried city as Alaerya worked magic and flung the weirwood leaves over the city. Alaerya searched out the vaults of the city and the temples, managing to secure the wealth of Asshai on the ships waiting for her on the horizon.

Satisfied Alaerya signalled to Vaella with a pat on the neck and Vaella screeched long and loud, her enormous form almost as vast as the former city of Asshai. The ground tumbled again as she screeched, she kept roaring deafeningly until the ground shook and settled. In unison millions of red shoots sprung from the ruined city. And as Vaella swooped and flew over the ships laden with Asshai's wealth the weirwood Forest grew fast over the former Shadow City.

Jon and Aerylle flew over Westeros together the ground soaring underneath them and the wind blowing in their faces. Jon was apprehensive about Aerylle joining him, especially after she had revealed her pregnancy to him. But he quickly learned Aerylle wouldn't be told what to do, by anyone if she didn't want to listen. He loved the wildness of her, but she was also sweet and kind. Looking across next to Rhaegal she flew atop her dragon, her pregnancy still not visible. Jon reflected how fast his life had changed from the hopelessness he had felt not so long ago. They flew over the river lands and Jon knew he was getting close, as they flew the rivers below them glistened. The rivers resembled snakes as they meandered beneath them. Aerylle was captivated by such expansive lands and looked at the land with interest. Jon recognised the land formation changing and could see ahead the Neck headlands. Shortly after, the misty terrain replaced the fertile river lands and the weather dramatically changed. Mist swirled around and Aerylle's expression darkened as she looked around at the terrain which the Neck was famous for. The road underneath them entwined and guided them to Moat Cailin, which rose out of the mists. The ancient fortress had almost been completely restored, the enormous towers almost rivalling those of Harrenhal. They were tall and incredibly thick, and retained their original ruggedness with the addition of domes. The outer wall was completely restored to almost the same height as Winterfell and as they flew over the grounds a huge palace was held within the walls. The restoration of Moat Cailin significantly fortified the North, no one can enter or leave the North by land without passing through. It was a powerful strategic point which was now the seat of House Targaryen. Aerylle dipped down to land on one of the domes and Jon followed her. Sansa and Aeyrelin waited for them to dismount and hugged them both. Aeyrelin pulled Jon in for a rib cracking hug, the two had grown close during their time on Valreos.

"Welcome home" beamed Sansa.

"A lot has changed here" remarked Jon.

"It's amazing what the builders can do" gushed Sansa as they were shown through the sprawling castle.

Later Aerylle requested to see the gardens, Sansa showed them the Godswood. She inspected the gardens and the soil, shaking her head.

"The conditions aren't right" said Aerylle shaking her head.

"What do you mean?" asked Sansa, stepping forward with a look of concern.

"I'm a healer, we will be needing gardens and lots of them. The conditions aren't right, why is everything so marshy?"

Sansa knew the history from her schooling, "According to history the children of the Forest tried to work magic here to cut off the north from the south during the Andal invasion. They failed, and this is the result".

Aerylle looked thoughtful, "So this is not the original condition of the land?"

"No," spoke Jon, "but strategically it protects the North to have the marshes. It funnels all land traffic through here"

Aerylle continued to look around and nodded, bending down she touched the ground again and spoke some words under her breath. Suddenly the mists lifted and the sun shone over Moat Cailin, the castle looked brilliant in the sun shine. Standing tall and imposing amongst hostile terrain, the ground around them began to sprout. Aerylle looked around for a short time longer before nodding in satisfaction.

"Tomorrow we work magic here, and it's time to lay her to rest Jon"

Jon knew who Aerylle spoke about and it warmed him that she was eager to uphold Daenerys wishes of burial.

"Where?" said Jon, confused.

Aerylle stood behind Jon and wrapped her arms around him as they surveyed the large marshy garden.

"Imagine Winterfell, I know you can see it. The Heart Tree is the centre of the garden and there is no Heart Tree here. It will go right there"

Aerylle pointed into the middle of the garden, "She wanted to be close to you all, we will be here everyday with the children. There's no better place"

Jon turned and lifted her face to gaze into her deeply, "I will marry you under that tree my love"

Aerylle looked intensely into his eyes as he spoke, "And I will willingly take your hand in marriage"

She leapt into his arms and wrapped her legs around his torso, and Jon knew exactly what she wanted next.

The following day the Targaryen family assembled in the gardens accompanied by Sansa and Aeyrelin.

Aerylle stepped forward and Jon followed, she signalled Jon to step closer.

The children were too young to know what was happening but he turned back and knelt before them anyway.

"Today is special, we lay your mother Daenerys to rest under the Heart Tree we plant here. She wanted to be close to us all, so we are laying her here. A place we will be everyday so she can be close while you grow"

The children knew he was being serious and watched him apprehensively as he spoke, once he finished they looked at him before slowly smiling. He smiled fondly and kissed all four of them on the head before rejoining Aerylle who looked at them all lovingly.

They joined hands and stepped towards the hole in the earth Aerylle had magically created. Jon looked to her for instruction.

"Ashes first" said Aerylle gently looking to Jon.

Jon nodded and held Daenerys ashes in his hands for a few moments, "What do I do?" he asked confused.

Aerylle smiled sympathetically realising she hadn't taught him what to do, "All you need to do my love is just, let go"

Suddenly above them they heard screeched of dragons, more than one. Looking up in surprise two dragons circled around Moat Cailin their wings spread wide. One was huge, black and red the other was smaller sleeker and silver. Jon stepped forward squinting his eyes to get a better look and the realisation dawned on his face.

"Drogon" he breathed. The dragon landed above them and glared down at Jon who held his mother's ashes in his hands. Rhaegal landed next to him and the silver dragon on his other side.

Jon looked astonished to Aerylle, "Is this normal Aerylle?"

Aerylle shrugged, "Dragons are intelligent, he wants to be close to her as well"

Jon looked up to Drogon and sent him memories of Daenerys requesting to be buried near the family. Jon received an image in return of a family of dragons occupying Moat Cailin.

He turned to Aerylle, "He wants to stay here, with us"

Aerylle smiled and looked up to Drogon, she didn't speak but Drogon bowed his head to her after some time.

"What did he say?!" questioned Jon.

"He's pledged allegiance to the new House Targaryen. Drogon and his mate will remain here and so will their children"

Astonished all Jon could do was nod and stare up at the huge dragons ringed around the palace walls. Aerylle came up behind him and wrapped her arms around him, "We grow our family by more than children my love"

Jon gripped one of her arms in his and stared deeply into her eyes.

"Time to lay her to rest Jon" she spoke gently at the egg he holds in his hands.

"How?"

Aerylle indicated the ashes, "Just let her go, and trust"

Jon looked perplexed but slowly dropped his hands, he exhaled deeply as he watched the ashes float into the ground and rest there. Upon touching the earth the ashes crumbled, Jon watched as a red weirwood leaf came to rest on top of the ashes. The earth shifted and covered the leaf, Aerylle knelt down and muttered some words touching the ground lightly. Immediately at her touch the weirwood tree sprouted and rapidly grew before their eyes. In moments it was fully grown and towering above them, the face forming in the tree looked distinctly like Daenerys. It was smiling and peaceful, a face that invoked happiness in all who saw it.

When the tree reduced its growth to a slower pace Drogon reared high up on his hind legs and spewed fire in the air over where his mother was laid to rest.

Aerylle took Jon's hand and led him towards the tree, they looked over it together and Jon was astonished when a small being materialised.

She bowed to Aerylle, "Thank you Lady Jaedra, this is the first Heart Tree in the castle since we worked our magic here."

Aerylle knelt down to come face to face with this small being, "Tell me your name"

"Bryona is my name"

"Can you help me? We need to restore fertility to these lands and retain strategic protection. If we combine our magic here can we do that?"

Bryona blinked and shrugged, "I would need to ask the Elders. But-" she said slowly.

Aerylle looked at her with intensity, "Yes?"

"If the magic was used to change the terrain we can change it, I just don't know how"

"Please consult your Elders and come back to me only" said Aerylle seriously.

Bryona nodded once and disappeared in a swirl of leaves leaving an astonished audience behind Aerylle.

"What's so important Aerylle?" asked Sansa.

"One of these towers will be home to my Temples, a Healing Temple and Warrior Temple. I cannot do my duties without good soil and we cannot treat the sick without herbs"

Sansa smiled at Aerylle, she was warming to her cousins new wife much faster than Daenerys.

The following day the mists were gone and the birds were chirping around the newly built castle. Aerylle started the day with fighting practice in front of the Heart Tree, when she completed her drills she turned and came face to face with a group of Elders. Still panting from her practice she hastily bowed in respect and they returned it.

"You wish to reverse some magic on these lands?" asked the main Elder.

"We need to release the magic from these lands so we can utilise them" replied Aerylle shortly.

"And you want to retain some aspect of protection at the same time" spoke another elder seriously.

"That would be preferable" returned Aerylle respectfully.

"We appreciate you consulting us Lady Aerylle, it is time this region was released from the magic that was worked here."

His face darkened as he stepped towards Aerylle, "It is dark magic though"

"I know how to work with dark and light magic, you can't know one without knowing the other"

She smiled as memories of her lessons with Alaerya flashed into her mind, she had just quoted her ancestor and teacher.

The Elder blinked and beckoned to her they place their hands on the ground, Aerylle followed his direction.

"I will direct the magic if you send it to me"

With that they began, the ground where they touched glowed brightly and the Elder muttered quietly. A short time later he quietened and spent some time with eyes closed, "It is done"

Aerylle looked around, nothing looked different but when she scooped up some earth she could tell the quality was different.

"You'll notice the biggest changes when you look down from above" said the Elder knowingly as he watched her inspecting the soil.

Aerylle turned to thank him but they disappeared.

Jamie woke to feel her laying against him, blonde curls falling over his body and her breath softly breathing next to his ear. It was still hard to believe he had come full circle since leaving Westeros only just with his life. Now back at Casterly Rock with his bride to be Brienne, today he would be wed and he felt surreal.

Preparations had been started weeks previous, nobility had begun arriving from the region and the castle was buzzing with excitement. Jamie remembered how far they had come since arriving back in Casterly Rock, the clean up and restoration effort had been massive. Casterly Rock was one of the least damaged regions in Westeros from the undead army and it had still been a colossal clean up. Jamie reflected on this while sitting on the side of their bed, naked and scratching his head in disbelief. Married, Jamie Lannister he chuckled to himself as he looked back at Brienne. A knock at the door disturbed him watching Brienne, answering the door Jamie grimaced as he saw his fathers face.

Jamie slipped out of the room to his expectant father in the hallway, "Come to give me good wishes father?" says Jamie tightly.

"The only advice I would give you is to do your..."

"Duty" droned Jamie rolling his eyes.

Tywin glared at his son, "Actually no that's not what I came here to say"

Tywin looked amused at his sons shocked face, "before you interrupted me I was going to say do your best. No one is perfect, mistakes will be made but own them and get on with what you have to do"

Jamie nodded mutely, he was still adjusting to the less intense version of his father.

"Now leave her your tailors are waiting"

"But-" protested Jamie

"Go" said Tywin his eyes warning Jamie not to press further.

Tywin watched his eldest son go to his wedding fitting before taking a deep breath and knocking on the door.

There was a muffled answer from inside and shortly after a sleepy Brienne answered she looked concerned to see Tywin.

"May I speak with you my Lady?"

Brow still furrowed in concern she opened the door to allow Tywin to enter. He paced the room for a short moment before glancing back at her.

Breathing out deeply he spoke, "You're joining my family today, not a decision I hope you're taking lightly. It's a lot of responsibility but it seems you have what it takes. I always hammered into my children the importance of family and legacy. The same expectations will be placed on you, family, honour, loyalty. If you fail to uphold these I'll find someone who can"

Briennes concerned look darkened, "You'll have no trouble from me Tywin" she spoke icily, "unlike some people my moral code doesn't change to suit me as I go"

Tywins gaze hardened, "Come back to me when you have children and need to make choices to save your family. We will talk then"

Brienne lifted her chin defiantly, "When I'm considering to murder whole families attending a wedding I'll seek your counsel first"

They glared at each other for the longest time before a knock sounded at the door, "Come in" spoke Brienne.

The maids streamed in with dresses and it was the first time in her life she was pleased to see this sight.

Following the conquest of Asshai, Alaerya knew duty called her back to Westeros. A wedding of one of her closest friends child was an important event, and Jamie Lannisters union with Brienne was an important one. Alaerya was aware of Tywins displeasure at their union, he had been opposed to the union and pleaded with her to change approving it.

The memory made Alaerya smile, he desperately wanted Jamie to marry a Valreon woman.

"Tywin, you can't make your children feel things that aren't there. He loves this woman and their children will be important to secure peace. Just let them be"

As Vaella approached the ruins of Kings Landing Alaerya remembered the city as she had seen it in her visions. Gendry was right the ruins were completely covered, replaced by innumerable Weirwood trees. Vaella landed and Alaerya slowly disembarked, and entered the forbiding forest. The trees grew close together and their roots entangled forming a natural path. Alaerya walked and laid her hands on the trees as she went for support, she saw flashes of the sacking of Kings Landing. The images were terrifying and shocking how fast the city was overcome by the undead army. After a time of walking Alaerya came to a clearing ringed with Weirwood trees with a group of waiting Children.

One Child who looked like a leader stood amongst them and approached Alaerya.

"Welcome Lady Alaerya"

"Thank you for having me, I know you permitted me passage. And you are?"

"Cedar is my name"

"How did this forest come to be?" asked Alaerya curiously.

"Bran Stark died in possession of some Weirwood leaves, when Kings Landing was destroyed the only thing capable of surviving were those leaves. The force of the explosion spread fragments of the leaves across the ruined city. As soon as the Night King left the ruins the trees grew, their roots trapping the dead under the soil. Kings Landing will never rise again"

"It was never planned to raise the city again"

"We know. It is a great victory for us to reclaim the south. Our people and trees used to dominate the south of this country. When the invaders came they cut down the trees, killed our kin and sold the wood or burned it. This forest is sacred to us now and we request no one enter it seeking to harm us. They will not leave with their life"

"I respect your wishes and I'll make it known. Across the seas a meeting forest of Weirwoods has been planted. As we expand so will your kind, we use each other's power. It's only fitting that I help your kind to grow with us"

Cedar bowed his head slightly, "You are most gracious, we will have a long and fruitful relationship. You are welcome any time here as are your children. We are in great debt to you" said Cedar bowing his head.

"You owe me nothing except living in peace and avoiding a return to mistakes made in the past Cedar" warned Alaerya.

Cedar looked embarrassed and simply dipped his head, Alaerya smiled at the small being.

"All is forgiven, peace is restored and here to stay."

And with that Alaerya simply disappeared.

Tyrion had marvelled at the extravagance of Jamie's wedding to Brienne. Golden lions had dazzled the crowd by walking ahead of Jamie as he entered the Temple. Women gushed as Jamie strutted down the aisle, smile across his face waving to people in the crowd. He had seized the opportunity to rule Lannister territory and was loved by the people who had returned from Naath. Tyrion had noted his fathers stony gaze as the priest fused Jamie and Brienne to be man and wife. As the Ruby and diamond ring materialised on Briennes hand his fathers anger didn't abate. Tyrion saw the slightest nudge from Alaerya who sat to Tywins right and Kasarra looking unimpressed at her husband on his left. Something had happened and Tyrion was interested to find out what that something was. The grand room magically changed to reception hall and the happy couple sat alone looking happily at each other and at the room. Tyrion wandered the room and observed the proceedings with interest. The event was beautiful and grand but not on the same scale as Sansa and Arya's joined wedding. As the people twirled and danced to beautiful Valreon music Tyrion sipped his drink. As the music slowed he noticed Alaerya sitting and watching the couple smiling. On impulse Tyrion went and sat with her, she looked to him and smiled wistfully.

"I must say Tyrion it's nice to finally see your brother smiling"

Tyrion followed her gaze and saw him laughing with Brienne, Alaerya was right this was the happiest he's ever been.

"Jamie is finally living the life our father wanted for him. And he's free of anything that would prevent that now"

"Now we just need to organise your affairs my dear"

Tyrion gulped his drink down fast as his heart thumped in his chest.

"My affairs? What affairs are you talking about?"

Alaerya turned to Tyrion and looked smiling at him her purple eyes clear and sharp.

"Your wedding and your residence. You are still a Lannister and we need to secure your family's future"

"You've been spending too much time with my Father" smirked Tyrion

"Perhaps, but nevertheless arrangements are to be made"

"Do you have any dwarfs on Valreos lady Alaerya?"

"We do not" replied Alaerya.

"Well when you do you know where to send them" he smiled politely as he hopped down from his chair to leave.

Alaerya caught his arm in an extremely strong grip, " You can't leave before I tell you what the plans are"

Tyrion looked up at the old woman and knew he wouldn't win against her.

Alaerya nodded her head to his chair and he resumed his place, looking at her apprehensively.

"You will be given Cleganes Keep, your future wife is in this room and I know you'll be pleased when you find her plus I have a job for you. It will pay very well, eventually you'll be as rich as the vaults in this very castle. And it'll all be yours. Are you interested?"

Tyrion gazed at Alaerya for a long moment tapping his glass, "How do you know I'll say yes?"

"I don't know you'll say yes. I'll make you a deal. Find your wife, shes here. Then come give me your answer"

"What makes you think I want a wife my Lady? Everyone I love leaves me or betrays me" said Tyrion with slight bitterness he hadn't intended to spill.

Alaerya sat back and regarded him for a moment, "Go on, tell me I just made your night more interesting and go find her"

Tyrion looked amused at the game, "If you lose Lady Alaerya you need to make me ruler of Westeros"

"I won't lose" she smiled in return, "but you have a deal"

Tyrion wandered through the crowd of his brothers wedding not believing there was a woman present who would make him want to marry. Following Shae he had resigned himself to never love again. The betrayal had been too much, especially now he didn't really know who she was. Tywins bombshell that he didn't sleep with her and he was kidnapped by Faceless Men had made Tyrion question every moment with Shae. This had only hardened his resolve not to love again further. Throughout the night Tyrion spoke with the young Valreon men he had formed bonds with. Toasted to his brother and Brienne and watched on proudly as he saw Jamie finally looking happy and content. But he was still unconvinced marriage was for him. He had forgotten his conversation with Alaerya as the famous whiskey Blood of Valyria took hold of him. Regaling the men with the story of his voyage through the ruins of Valyria suddenly the room darkened. Tyrion looked around in shock, "What's happening?" he asked Raeylion.

"Traditional Valyrian dancers" replied Raeylion pointing to floating orbs of light.

Tyrion looked confused, dancers? he thought. No one was there to dance.

The orbs of light floated through the room and around one another, suddenly the music began. Beautiful lilting music which made one feel uplifted and carefree, as the tempo rose the orbs formed into Valyrian women who gracefully danced above them in the air. Everyone watched the women entranced as they ceaselessly moved, twirling and flowing in the air. The music so beautiful it stung everyone's eyes with tears.

The song finished and the crowd clapped loudly, slowly the women floated to the ground. The music resumed, intoxicating and entrancing. The women danced in the edges of the room, moving seductively to the beat. It appeared as if they had no bones, they folded in over themselves and contorted their bodies in unreal ways. Tyrion was transfixed as he watched. The woman closest to him was Valyrian, her silver hair so long it brushed the ground and spun all around her as she danced. It looked like a web of silver light. And unlike other Valreon people he had met she was diminutive, perfectly built and stunning. As she danced her eyes glowed purple and she left streams of golden sparks around her. She weaved magic as she swayed her hips and rose into the air spinning and tumbling into graceful shapes. Tyrion's mouth gaped wide open as she moved, the music became faster and the intensity built. At the crescendo this captivating dancer exploded into innumerable particles of light as she continued dancing in this form. Weaving and spinning the web of light swirled through the room around members of the crowd who smiled as she encircled them. Before he knew what was happening she encircled Tyrion, he felt her beauty and energy around him. Suddenly Tyrion became very nervous and he saw purple eyes looking at him as she danced around him. Her physical form returned as the particles swirled around them and he watched helplessly as this woman bent and moved her body to the entrancing music.

The other dancers moved through the crowd and danced with the guests, before long the whole room was involved. The music magically charged and hard to resist, and before the crowds eyes the women disappeared and the music died down. The crowd burst into rapturous applause, cheering and clapping so loudly the noise was deafening. Tyrion felt shaken, he looked around for this woman and saw her slip behind a curtain exiting the hall. Downing his full drink of whiskey he gave chase on impulse, slipping through the curtain it was completely dark. Without a thought Tyrion conjured lights and ran after this woman who was just out of sight.

"My lady" he said breathlessly as he chased her.

She did not slow down, she led him away laughing as she ran. Grimacing as he ran Tyrion remembered his lessons and focused his growing skills. The magic powered his legs and he surged forward, closing the gap between them as he chased her through the Temple. He reached her and gripped her around the waist and spun her around to face him. Laying eyes on her face for the first time his heart dropped, she was intensely beautiful and small. She was the smallest Valreon woman he had seen, her long silver hair grazed the floor and her eyes shined bright purple. They stood panting before she laughed and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"You managed to find me" she said mischievously.

"Who are you?" breathed Tyrion.

"The one you've always wanted" she smiled wide and bright. Her eyes sparkling and her face close to his.

"Who are you? What is your name?"

"Raena Aelleron"

"Aelleron? As in one of the noble families?" panted Tyrion to Raena's amusement.

"Yes, you know my brother Raeylion"

Tyrion had just been talking to Raeylion in the other room before the performers started, his mind spun in confusion.

"That dance you did-" started Tyrion noticing his hands gripped her waist as he stared into her eyes.

"Was another form of our magic. We love music and dance"

"It was incredible. I've never felt so connected to the music like that"

Raena smiled, "I guess you won't get to rule Westeros Tyrion. Will you be happy regardless?"

Tyrion laughed and looked down to his feet catching his thoughts and understanding what she meant. Alaerya was right, she was always going to win.

Looking back into this woman's eyes, "I've won more tonight than if I was to rule"

Tyrion pulled her close to him and grazed her lips with his, she jumped and wrapped her legs powerfully around his hips and they both dissolved into the night.

Tywin sunk into a chair next to his old friend and glared in Jamie's direction. Alaerya glanced at him and smirked.

"I've never seen you look so happy Tywin" she mused drily.

"It's not the union id hoped for, I'm glad he's happy but she's just not...what I expected" he replied obviously restraining himself from using stronger words.

Alaerya sighed, "come with me. If I don't show you the future you'll forever hold a grudge over your daughter by law"

Before Tywin could argue she looked at him pointedly and grasped his arm. They disappeared from the reception and reappeared in a clearing of weirwood trees. Standing in front of a a stunned group of children of the Forest, Cedar already had a weapon in his hand. He lowered it when he saw Alaerya but still looked cautiously at Tywin.

"Cedar I brought him with me. Go to your shelter we will leave soon"

He nodded and briskly hurried his kind into hiding and Alaerya turned to Tywin, her hair shining almost glowing in the moonlight.

"Why do you always need to learn the hard way? I thought you were changing Tywin"

Tywin smirked slightly and stepped forward, "you and I share a great drive to ensure our line continues. I am changing from who I used to be it's just taking longer with my oldest children"

Alaerya didn't respond right away, instead she turned and directed Tywin do the same.

"Touch the tree Tywin, you need to see along both threads of time. And then you'll understand, you'll also have some apologies to make" she warned.

Tywin hesitated and received a stern look from Alaerya, he sighed in frustration and laid his hands on the tree.

Instantly his eyes flashed milky white, Alaerya smiled and followed suit.

In the vision Alaerya and Tywin stood looking up at Casterly Rock, it was huge with towering Valyrian domes and dragons. Carriages drawn by magic ceaselessly entered and departed the castle. Tywin watched interested, "what's in the carriages?"

"Gold mostly. Your descendants in this thread significantly strengthen your House. Let's look"

Alaerya touches his elbow and they immediately transport into the main hall of Casterly Rock.

They look out over three blonde haired very tall adults going over plans together. The boys resemble Jamie almost identically and the woman reminded Tywin of Joanna his first wife. His eyes sparkled bright and he stepped forward, "what are they doing?"

"Controlling the West. They each control a territory and have increased your family wealth considerably. All have married Valreons and they work together with the common goal in mind, family"

Alaerya looked over Tywins shoulder as he watched with pride his grandchildren interacting with one another.

"Who's dragons are they?"

"They each spent their education at Valreos and wield magic and ride dragons"

Tywin turned to Alaerya, "And you wanted to convince me my son was better off with that woman. He clearly should've married a Valreon!"

Alaerya peeked over his shoulder, "You might want to turn around"

Tywin glanced over his shoulder and looked shocked, Brienne and Jamie, older versions of themselves had entered the room. Brienne was tall and slender, blonde waves cascading down her back. Jamie looked relaxed and happy to see his children, he slapped them on their backs and hugged his daughter.

They stood as a family and Tywin hung his head, "show me the alternative now"

Without a word Alaerya worked magic, the scene changed, dramatically.

The children of another marriage were squabbling and fighting, literally fighting each other with blades out. Jamie appeared uninterested as his wife yelled in his face, Tywin spotted a young woman being ushered from the hall crying. It was chaos, anger and despair.

"What is the meaning of all this?"

"Some people bring out the worst in one another" is all Alaerya said.

Tywin watched for a time fists clenched before turning and speaking, "You've made your point"

The scene vanished and the weirwood Forest reappeared, the light from the moon making the trunks of the trees glow. Tywin stormed around the clearing swearing and making angered sounds.

Alaerya watched silently.

He rounded on Alaerya, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I'm not going to share everything I see with you when I do my practices. You need to trust me when I tell you things"

Tywin glared at her and stared up at the moon for a long time, Alaerya grew tired of sitting and made herself comfortable amongst the weirwood branches. Gazing up through the leaves at the sky allowing the visions the tree activated in her sight to wash through her. Some of them she noted to revisit later.

"Why do I keep doing what's wrong? Why am I pushing my family so hard in the wrong direction?" said Tywin after a time with defeat in his voice

"Numerous reasons, but the main thing that hinders you is you don't have the gift of sight"

Tywin looked to the ground, "She tried to tell me you know"

"I know Tywin. Kasarra has sight. Now you know why I told you there will be apologies to be made"

Tywin spun and glared at Alaerya they looked at each other for a long time.

"Let's get on with it then" said Tywin as he strode back towards the tree.

Alaerya smiled and patted the roots next to her, "We have plenty of time to make amends Tywin come sit by me for a few moments. I don't have long left and I'm enjoying being here for now"

Tywin sat reluctantly, his bones were old and didn't agree with sitting in tree roots but he was in no place to complain to Alaerya who far surpassed him in age. Alaerya smiled as she looked up at the bright sky shining with stars through the waving weirwood leaves.

Repair and building in Oldtown had begun before Baelor Hightower had returned from Naath. Their evacuation had been hurried and much of the family's wealth was left behind. Baelor had eagerly returned to his home and was relieved to find their vaults intact. The Valreon's tasked with repair had consulted with him on all new additions and he found their new alliance to be highly beneficial. He immediately swore allegiance to the new government and fealty to House Tarly of Highgarden. On his return to Oldtown he was surprised to find Alleras there in charge of works to restore the citadel. Within a short time he called Alleras to his chambers, the young man entered with an unsure look across his face. Baelor mused the boys face could easily be mistaken for a woman had he not had the short hair and muscle definition of a man. Alleras paced uncertainly around the room before looking to Baelor wanting to speak but he put up his hand.

"Alleras please let me begin"

The boy gulped and looked worried.

"You've worked tirelessly and much of the work I know you've done with your own hands. I've been thinking of how I can repay you, and there is only one way. I'm naming you Archmaester of the Citadel and-"

Baelor's next words were drowned out by numerous screeches, both men were startled at the sudden noise and moved to peer out of the window. An enormous dragon soared over the city, it was so immense it almost covered the entire city. Baelor gulped and looked up as it hovered above Hightower, he crossed the room to see who had made an appearance in his home. Alleras breathed out in relief at his brusque exit, looking down his knuckles were white from gripping so tightly to the window.

Baelor strode in the direction of noises he knew were his guards preventing someone entry, he turned a corner and saw the tiniest and oldest woman he had ever set eyes on.

Her eyes sparkled purple and she fixed a piercing gaze at him, he stopped dead in his tracks.

"See?" Said the woman, "I told you Baelor was coming to meet me. I have urgent business with him. Step aside"

As she waved her hand the men automatically stepped away and returned to their positions as she passsed them.

Baelor looked alarmed.

"Don't be so afraid boy" the woman patted his arm as she tottered past him.

"Wait where are you-" he yelled after her as he jogged to catch up.

"We have important business Baelor, something private to discuss"

Alleras was walking up the hall to pass them and bowed his head respectfully, Alaerya clucked her tongue and gripped the young mans arm.

"You'll come with us, this concerns you too"

Alleras protested for a moment before submitting and returning to the room.

The men looked at Alaerya in surprise, she had appeared from nowhere and already made quite an impact.

The door locked magically and they looked to her expectantly.

"Sarella dear, it's not time to hide anymore" began Alaerya, "Baelor here is supportive of you and will allow us to make some changes"

"Sarella? Who's Sarella?" said Baelor looking around.

Alaerya smiled and walked towards Alleras who had gone pale with fear, Alaerya's reached up and touched his face. Immediately Alleras hair grew long and thick, and Baelor saw that Alleras was really a woman.

Sarella breathed out heavily and almost sobbed as she hid her face from shame.

"Somebody tell me what's going on here" demanded Baelor.

Alaerya calmly turned to Baelor, "Your Archmaester is a woman, which is perfect because the citadel now accepts female students"

Baelor struggled to comprehend what was happening, "A woman? How did I not ever see that?"

"It's not your fault, Sarella here has been using some crude magic to slightly alter her appearance. Don't hold it against her"

Baelor looked at Sarella closer and saw she was indeed, a woman.

He paced to the other side of the room.

"What are you proposing?" he said gruffly back still turned on the women.

"The Citadel is outdated Baelor, women deserve to be educated. Look at the lengths Sarella went to just to be here, she made such an impression you named her Archmaester. Surely that doesn't count for nothing"

Baelor turned around, "It's been this way for the longest time, people won't be used to this change"

Alaerya shrugged, "They'll adjust"

Baelor mulled it over for a short moment before striding forward to Sarella.

His hand was outstretched, "Welcome to the role Archmaester"

Sarella looked relieved, she extended her hand, "I give thanks to you Lord Baelor"

He nodded gruffly and received the scrolls Alaerya produced, he looked them over.

"You had this change already approved?"

"Yes I did, I've been meaning to come here earlier but had a wedding to attend to. Seems I arrived at the right time"

Sarella could hardly believe what was happening, events had turned quickly.

Baelor passed the education decree to Sarella, "Begin accepting your first female Maesters from this point forward"

Sarella bowed her head in thanks.

"Now," said Alaerya, "I want a word with Sarella alone. Let's go to your new office"

She shuffled from the room leaving a bewildered Sarella and Baelor behind her.

Sarella had been reluctant to ride on dragon back but wasn't left with much choice, the ride was short but the walk was longer.

The women entered the Archmaesters office together to find it in disarray, Sarella exclaimed in surprise and Alaerya held up her arm holding her from entering.

"Wait child let me clear the room first. There was death in here"

Sarella gulped and looked around fearfully before Alaerya gingerly entered and walked around the room. Every now and then she moved her hand and the energy visibly shifted, after a time she began working magic to clean up the mess in the room. Broken jars reformed and filled themselves with ingredients, books repaired themselves and sat back on shelves which fixed themselves. In a short time, the office was completely repaired and ready for use. Alaerya looked around with familiarity, "It's been a long time since I've been here" she murmured.

"You've been here?" spoke Sarella in her husky voice behind Alaerya.

"Yes" replied Alaerya wistfully, "a long time ago now. So much has happened since"

Alaerya turned to look at the young woman and smiled, "Hoe does it feel to not have to hide any more my dear?"

Sarella moved across the room and breathed in relief, "You have no idea how relieved I am"

Alaerya nodded knowingly, "You're the right person for the job dear but it's a lot of responsibility, don't let me down"

Sarella bowed her head and Alaerya moved closer, "Now tell me how close are you with your sisters?"

Sarella looked surprised at the question, "Honestly we couldn't be more different. I wasn't as talented with a blade as them and I loved books. Sometimes I wondered if I really was Oberyns at all-"

"You are, I can see it clearly"

"What can you see?" questioned Sarella curiously

"I can see the moment you were conceived. I have powerful magic dear, now answer me this. If someone killed one of your sisters how would you feel?"

"Which one?" said Sarella brow furrowed.

Alaerya looked serious at her, "Elia"

"She always had something to prove, and never listened to wise counsel. I'm sure she played a part in her death"

"And Obella?"

"Obella was smart, unassuming and brave, is she dead?"

Alaerya shook her head and relayed the story of the Sand Snakes arriving in Maidenpool.

At the end Alaerya asked one question, "If you want to avenge them come at me now or it ends here"

"I do not want to avenge Elia. If I was like them I'd be in Dorne, with them"

"Just like I thought, you'll do wonderful things dear. But you also have some training to do yourself. I will send someone to teach you privately"

"Teach me?" asked Sarella her head cocked

"Yes, all Maesters will learn basic magic"

Sarella's eyes opened wide as she thought of all the ways the Citadel was changing under the new rule.

Talla Tarly reluctantly walks the halls of Highgarden. Internally she feels apprehensive about this change for her family. Lady of the castle, Highgarden? She had never dreamed this would be where she ended up, especially not after being trapped on Naath for so long. The castle had been transformed to contain Valreon and Westerosi features, towers that soared into the sky with colourful domes. It made the castle look so different, but it was bigger and looked even more impressive than before .

Inside the castle cleaning was still underway, everywhere she went there were bloodstains being removed. With magic.

She smiled internally, 'imagine if Father could see this'

She remembered how her father detested the Targaryens despite remaining loyal he had jumped at the chance to remove them from power. And now Valyrians rule Westeros, how the world had changed. Talla walked all the way to her mothers chambers, Melessa was still grieving the death of her father. Upon entering she noticed her mother's eyes wet with tears.

Talla crossed the room and embraced her mother, "Are you feeling better?"

Melessa sniffed and grasped Talla's hand, "I'm just glad you're alive and we made it back to Westeros. Now I'm thinking about what comes next?"

"My wedding I suppose" sighed Talla

"Where is your betrothed?" said her mother irritably.

"Well he is a member of the ruling council and they're busy at the moment resettling the survivors. He will come"

"Do you think we could rule without-"

Talla cut her off, "I'm not doing anything to jeopardise our lives so stop asking that question. I will wed this man and be the best ruler of the Reach for the people and work with the new way. It's the only way"

Her mother nodded mutely knowing it was the only way to keep their lives.

That afternoon, a dragon soared around Highgarden, its shadow falling across the colossal castle and casting a shadow over the sprawling pleasure gardens. Landing on the huge dome a man dismounted and approached the waiting servants.

"Take me to Talla Tarly" he said politely.

Talla was in the main chambers near the dome dressed in a glowing white gown with her hair intricately styled. He crossed the room and took her hand kissing it gently as he gazed into her eyes. Talla blushed at this man, her future husband before her.

"I am Xaeron, Xaeron Trallaer. Do you accept me as your betrothed?"

The back of Talla's mind she remembers her previous betrothal to Symun Fossaway an old man with yellow teeth. Now she's looking at a man close to her age, handsome and built well, she shyly looks down.

"I accept"

He smiled confidently and pulls her closer to him, her stomach does a backflip as she feels his body against her own. His hands cup her face as he looks deeply into her eyes.

The boat docks at Oldtown and Sam appears on deck, gilly closely behind him with the children. Looking around apprehensively he looks overcome when he sees Oldtown is a hive of activity.

Waiting Maesters on the dock receive them all and bow to him. A sign of deep respect, Sam looks shocked and bewildered why he is being greeted this way.

One of the waiting acolytes spoke, "Archmaester Sarella is waiting for you"

"I'll need to find somewhere to keep my family first" spoke Sam

"Your family are to accompany you" spoke another

Sam looked shocked and confused all at once

"Sarella is a woman's name, Sam" said Gilly quietly behind him, "I remember reading about her in my history books about Dorne"

Sam scoffed, "A woman Archmaester?"

"What's so wrong with that?" Countered Gilly defensively as she shoved past him with Little Sam and a baby in her arms. Naath had been challenging for Gilly, giving birth with tribal people had been difficult and confronting. But she had lived through it with a whole new appreciation for Westeros. Sam and Gilly had a daughter Melena, Melena Tarly with fair hair and twinkling bright eyes. The Tarly family made their way to the Archmaesters office, upon arrival they were welcomed into the office. Sam looked around in awe at the room, vines, flowers and butterflies dominated the room. A tall woman with cascading dark hair and intense dark eyes was going over some paperwork. She glanced up at their arrival, walking through the scenery with mouths open in surprise. Placing her quill back in its pot she stood and came to shake Sam's hand.

"It's an honour to meet you Grand Maester" she smiled.

Sam shook her hand and his eyes shot up at his title, "Excuse me?"

"Grand Maester Tarly?" she looked confused, "You haven't been told the news? Did you come from Harrenhal?"

Sam shook his head still confused, "Harrenhal? We were brought straight to Oldtown with the last of the Oldtown survivors" stammered Sam.

Sarella smiled, "Well I apologise for ruining the surprise, the ruling council has appointed you the role of Grand Maester"

Sam sat and took a moment to take it all in, Sarella looked confused to Gilly.

"Forgive us Lady Archmaester-" began Gilly.

"Please call me Sarella, and you're?"

"Gilly Tarly, this is Little Sam and Melena"

Sarella looked fondly at the children.

"When did they make all these changes?" asked Sam shakily.

"Well I was appointed Archmaester recently and tasked to accept female students. The response has been overwhelming to say the least. I have a large cohort of new recruits, all women. Your appointment of Grand Maester happened some time ago at the request of Jon Targaryen and the ruling council from the capital, Harrenhal"

"The capital? Harrenhal?"

Sarella looked amused, "Yes Sam. Much has changed since you began your journey home. I presume you'll be stopping at Highgarden to see your sister on the way to Harrenhal? Her wedding is in days it's good timing you're here"

"Highgarden? My family?"

"Why yes, your sister is marrying a Valreon. Supposed to be quite handsome and powerful too"

Sam looked pale, Sarella was right everything had changed and he was overwhelmed to hear it all at once.

"Have you got any tea?" asked Gilly, "Sam looks pale"

"Of course" said Sarella as a mug of tea materialised in front of Sam. It startled him so much with its sudden appearance he jerked and spilt hot tea all over himself. The heat caused him to yell in surprise and this scared both young children. Within a short space of time the Archmaesters office was chaos of spilled tea and crying. Without a thought the cup and tea disappeared and some toys floated out of the air calming the children.

Gilly and Sam looked stunned.

"How are you doing that?" questioned Sam.

"Everyone will be given magical training in the citadel. I've already started mine and have accelerated quickly, I practice daily as you can see." She indicated around the room with her hands and streams of butterflies materialised from nowhere, "Your magical training will begin soon too Sam"

"I can barely manage to drink a cup of tea I'm not sure magic is for me"

"There is all kinds of magic, I think you'd be most interested in the Healers. They do some amazing work, you'll be meeting them when you arrive at Harrenhal"

"I'm sorry Sarella but I'm struggling to understand all of this. I've been named Grand Maester? In the new capital Harrenhal? Is that where I'm to live?"

"I'm not sure, I suppose you can ask the council when you see them at Harrenhal. They're expecting you, Jon mentioned being quite anxious to see you"

Sam's face shot up, "Is he alright?"

Sarella smiled, "He's managing fine, he has a large castle to control but he is taking it in his stride. You'll be able to catch up when you see him"

A loud knock sounded on the door and Sarella smiled, "Come in"

The door opened of its own accord and a serene silver haired woman entered dressed in sleek attire. Her hair braided and an enormous ornate sword strapped to her back, Sam gasped at this beautiful woman. While he was looking at the woman he didn't see Jon enter behind her. He was walking taller and dressed in the same sleek armour, his face was wide with happiness. Jon looked and carried himself differently now and it took Sam back when he first laid eyes on his friend. They hugged fiercely and looked at one another.

"It's been a journey" said Jon smiling and looking to the woman.

Sam just dipped his head and Jon introduced Gilly to Aerylle.

"Did you tell Sam the good news Sarella?" beamed Jon.

"I told him but he's taken a while to warm to it"

"Of course," said Jon looking to Aerylle, "you have a lot to catch up on and the new way can be confronting. Once you come to Harrenhal you'll see"

"See what? It's a ruin" said Sam

"Not anymore" said Aerylle, "it's completely changed"

"Why are you in Oldtown?" asked Gilly, "This is far from the North"

"True Gilly, we are honoured guests of the marriage happening at Highgarden in the coming days. We came to take you there"

Sam gulped and looked around, "Take us there?"

Jon smiled and beckoned Sam to the window, and pointed out. The dragons screeched and flew around the city as they waited for their riders. Sam's face flushed paper white as he realised what Jon intended.

Alaerya's old body laid peacefully as she walked the dream road, the light filtering through the windows throwing shadows of weirwood leaves across her face.

She had quickly dropped into a trance, viewing the lives of the significant people in her life as they unfolded without her. She followed many threads of time through Jon's life, Sansas, Tywins and Arya's. The visions slipped and changed to encompass her people as a whole and their achievements in the years to come. Alaerya smiled as she saw certain events that will be avoided thanks to her sight. Events which would slow their progress and people who will stand in the way. The future visions dissipated into pastel clouds, Alaerya walked through pastel clouds of pink, blue and yellow towards someone standing in the clouds ahead of her. The clouds slowly parted and her breath was taken away, Aeyrelis was waiting for her. It had been a long time since she had seen him this way and she felt tears sting her eyes. His loss had never gotten better for her, it always made her sad to think of the husband she lost.

"It's been a while my love" he smiled as he stepped towards her.

Alaerya hesitated as she walked to meet him, "I want to take you into my arms so badly, it's been so long since I've felt you Aeyrelis"

He stood in front of her so close, "We can touch my love. It's almost time for you to join me, you've felt it"

Alaerya looked down and noticed she was in her young body looking up at the man she had mourned for hundreds of years. Gingerly she ran her hands up his arms and smiled as she remembered how he felt underneath her touch.

He embraced her tightly and lifted her up, sparks of light shine outward around them and Alaerya felt happiness bubbling through her.

"We will be back together soon" whispered Aeyrelis, "Dont be afraid"

Alaerya nuzzled her head into his neck as she had done so countless times during their marriage. She had missed this feeling of being with him, and just being with him. He ran his hands up her back and stroked her hair.

"There will be many people waiting for me" she said after a long moment.

"Yes my love, our children, your children, Jaehserys, and everyone who came after. We have waited for the longest time for you"

Alaerya looked up in Aeyrelis face, it had been hundreds of years since she had seen his face so clearly and vividly. Smiling she looked happily into his eyes, "When the time is right I'll come willingly"

VFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFVFV

The war council had been summoned on Valreos, the heads of the Houses looked confused when they entered the room to see Alaerya's frail form with numerous scrolls. Representatives from House Valreon, Jaedra, Aelleron and Trallaer were present, all of whom were her descendants in some way. She was their living legend, their wise woman who had always been there for them.

"I am leaving you all soon" said Alaerya quietly when they were all seated. "My old body wants to rest and we have achieved our objective. I've walked the dream road and have several decrees written which will ensure the issues I've seen for our people that arise in the future don't destroy all the work we have done so far"

The scrolls rose into the air, "They won't make sense to you now but in time they will. I know I'm asking a lot of you to trust me with no background of why I'm enacting these rules. But I will explain to you as best I can"

Alaerya detailed the plans for Valreon expansion and control outside Valreos and Westeros. She discussed the backlash and the murders of their people in Mereen, the resistance of the Dothraki and what waits for them where the shadow lands used to be. Alaerya also described how the Valyrian ruins had been used to harbour dark magic and the prisoners being held there in form of stone. She had seen some nefarious magic running rampant in her old home and those who wield it using their magic to capture any foolish enough to explore Old Valyria.

"So you see," she concluded tiredly, "the work never ends. But my time for working on these things ends today."

Her descendants looked at her in varied levels of shock, "I told each of you when you took your seat at this table that one day I won't be here to guide these plans. But I'm hoping to leave you with enough in place that our plans keep succeeding"

The men were silent for a time before Aerelio Jaedra spoke, "Great Mother we are saddened by your decision to leave us. Is there nothing we can say to have your guidance any longer?"

"I'm not leaving you today. But soon I will be. You'll have access to me to work on these plans until I leave"

The room was silent and she looked around fondly at them, a large book materialised on the table. It was huge and looked unable to be moved by any means other than magic.

Alaerya placed an aged gnarled hand on the book and it opened at her touch.

"This book will reside in this room and will continue updating until the day I leave you. It has every decision I have ever made in it, and it details my dream walking of the future. Turn to this when you need my guidance and the right page will present itself. You'll need to think for yourselves and be creative but essentially my guidance will be there for eternity"

The book disappeared and the men looked perplexed, "How do we access it?"

Alaerya's smiled wistfully, "Just ask for my help and it will come"

Following the meeting Alaerya travelled by magic carriage to Allarian island, she intended to visit the last Temple she would ever visit.

The Temple of the Long Sleep was the quietest temple in Valyrian culture. The priests and priestesses did not speak to their patients and their role was simply to enable the physical body to be treated before it passed into ashes and the earth. No one ever walked into the Temple and walked out alive, until today. Walking through the dark stone Temple it was cool and quiet, peaceful. Here and there people walked their faces quiet in respect for the dead who were laying in the Temple awaiting their turn. After some time Alaerya reached an office and knocked once, an elderly man with glazed white eyes opened the door and smiled. His teeth had long fallen from his mouth and whisps of silver hair remained in random places on his head.

Alaerya bowed her head and stepped inside, his office was lined with interesting jars of organs and charts of the body. As it was their practice to preserve certain organs of noble people. The man sat slowly and painfully behind a creaking desk and looked at Alaerya.

"Finally ready to rest my dear friend?" said his croaky old voice.

Alaerya sighed, "Soon, yes. But not today"

The man looked surprised, "Then why is it you come?"

Alaerya fixed her piercing purple gaze on him, "Begin preparing my body to leave, once I have my affairs in order I will go. But I will go my way"

The man looked interested, "And how do you plan on doing that?"

"Well," began Alaerya, "the volcano has always been an affinity of mine. I plan on leaving behind something for all of my people"

The man smiled, "You've always been defiant and strong, even as a little babe." He sighed, "I am also looking forward to being released from our agreement so I can join you in the Shadow"

"Thank you Ryllyn, you're the oldest person on these islands and I'm grateful you agreed to remain here for so long"

Ryllyn rubbed his old wispy hair and chuckled a raspy laugh, "Without your magic I would've left long ago. But I understand you wanted your only remaining teacher to assist you in this way. I must say it's an honour to remain here for you"

Alaerya blushed and dropped her face, tears welling up as she became overcome with emotions.

Slowly the man stood and numerous jars floated from the shelves, "Let's begin what we planned so long ago shall we?"

He approached Alaerya and began preparing her to die
