Chapter 82:

Elijah's Galactic Story

So starting today was the small break from the Battle Frontier. After Agenta's battle, I needed one. After all, I wanted to explore the Battle Zone a bit, do a loop round. It was part of Sinnoh I hadn't seen yet after all.

"We will be ready when you get back" Palmer told me as I set off outside the Battle Zone gate. "Oh yeah. I had a message from Barry. He wants to battle you. He's in the Survival Zone, which is the next place over. It's down Route 225."

Okay then. The final battle before Barry's induction as Tower Tycoon…

Route 225 wasn't anything too wacky. Just a few bridges, trees and strong Trainers. I would reach the Survival Area by nightfall.

So, what was a battle like? As it turns out, quite easy even though the Trainer about to be described here was strong. He just used two Pokemon. His name was Ace Trainer Gavin. He wore the usual red Ace Trainer attire and had blonde hair. I knew I was about to give him the battle of a lifetime. Or not, who knows what lay ahead of him.

"Go Drifblim!" I yelled.

"I choose Slowbro!" Gavin yelled. He sent out a pink Pokémon with what looked like a grey, thing on the end of its tail. It's supposed to be a Shellder, but it barely looked like it.

Slowbro

080

Water/Psychic Type

Hermit Crab Pokémon

Region of origin: Kanto

5'03" (1.6 m)

173.1 lbs (78.5 kg)

Though usually dim witted, it seems to become inspired if the Shellder on its tail bites down.

Slowbro -Lv 37- Slowbro

"Drifblim, Shadow Ball!" Drifblim shot the black blob at Slowbro for massive damage.

"Slowbro, use Psychic!" Slowbro, using its mind, telekinetically slammed Drifblim into the cliffside.

"Use Shadow Ball again!" Drifblim recovered and used a Shadow Ball, finishing off Slowbro.

"Go Ambipom!" he said, sending out the two tailed Normal Type.

"Good job Drifblim. But I choose Empoleon next!" I said, as my Water Type entered the scene.

"Okay Ambipom, Brick Break!" Ambipom slammed both its tails down onto Empoleon for Super Effective damage.

"Empoleon, counter with Hydro Pump." A little dazed as it was hit in the head, Empoleon fired a jet of water at Ambipom. It was finished.

"Well, they don't call you Champ for the sake of it" Gavin said. "Looks like I have more training to do."

I was about to continue, when on the bridge above me, I saw a silhouette of a man.

"So, Lucas Pratt. We meet again."

That voice sounded familiar. Albeit a lot less cowardly than when I last heard it. He jumped down to reveal the lumberjack uniform of…

"Elijah?!" I said. "What are you doing here?"

"To congratulate you of course!" He looked up at the sky. "Oh, and of course to tell you about a great adventure I had."

I told him to do the talking whilst we're walking. I was really intrigued to hear about this. I love going on adventures but hearing about others is also a delight.

"It's great, but also sad. Simply put though, I was part of the Galactic Eterna raid."

Elijah got out a photocopy of his time in the Galactic take down which he has given to me so I have put it here.

"Can I keep this?" I asked.

"Sure!" Elijah said. "I have tens of them."

This is how Elijah's story went.

So, I heard recently that things were going on in regards to Team Galactic. My friend Lucas, who I heard through the grapevine now has 7 Badges, is going to ascend Mt. Coronet tomorrow to stop the Universe ending or something. Me? Well, I was going to take my darling Bea over to Hearthome City.

However, an arrival caught our attention. To our surprise, we saw the Gym Leaders of Oreburgh City and Canalave City respectively. Roark and Byron, father and son. We just had to meet them.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"We are about to do something quite dangerous" Byron replied. "Raid the Eterna Galatic Building."

That, sounded excellent. I knew I had to do it.

"Are you asking for volunteers?" I swiftly asked.

"But…" Bea, or Babe, asked. "We had plans…"

Yeah, my darling babe had been getting kind of annoyed at me for cancelling our dates. This was the 2nd time I had to do so. The first was because, that Lucas I mentioned. You know, the one with 7 Badges? We went on a ghost hunt at the Old Chateau. It… didn't go too well.

"The more the merrier!" Byron said. "Of course, you can come along!"

"Bea, you to!"

Bea wasn't too sure. After all, my darling had her Chatot stolen by Team Galactic and kept here. So I could understand her fear.

However, she reluctantly agreed. "Well, I suppose if it's to save the universe, then okay."

Great!

As the four of us walked to the Eterna Building, Bea talked to me in a quiet, angry voice.

"I'm gonna give you one more chance" she said. "Otherwise… I don't know. No more cancelling dates."

Outside the Eterna Galactic Building was Gardenia, the Gym Leader of our very own Eterna City.

"Are you all ready for this?" she asked us all.

"Yeah!" we all yelled.

Well, not really Bea. She just gave more of a deadpan "Sure."

I sent out Leafeon. "Use Cut!" Leafeon cut down the trees blocking the entrance. Now we could get through.

"Let's do this!" Roark shouted. "For the future of Sinnoh, for the future of the Universe!"

So, upon walking in, we found that the place was completely empty on the first floor. I mean, to be fair, most of the Grunts were either ascending Mt. Coronet or at the Veilstone HQ, which is where most of their operations take place. There was also a large metal door where the stairs would be, but there was a small vent over it to let air get in.

I'm sorry, why did they build this again?

"Let's split up" I promptly said.

"There's only one way up silly" Byron whispered with a joking tone, despite the seriousness of the situation.

Roark went ahead of us quickly. "Rampardos, go!" he said, sending out the giant grey and blue prehistoric titan.

"Wait, I know" Bea said. "Come out Chatot!" Babe sent out her trusty Flying Type.

"Squawk! Come out Chatot!" it replied.

"Chatot, check upstairs for any Grunts. If there are, say the floor is occupied. If not, say the coast is clear."

"Squawk! Check upstairs for any Grunts."

Chatot flew through the vent up top.

"Good thinking!" Gardenia told her.

Babe smiled at me. "You know, this is kind of fun!"

Chatot flew back down. "Squawk! Coast is clear! Coast is clear!"

"Great!" Roark said. "Okay Rampardos, bust down the door! Use Head Smash!" Rampardos charged at full speed into the steel door that was locked tight. It fell down with a crash. t flew off its hinges.

"Noctowl, Psychic!" Babe sent out her Noctowl. It used Psychic on the door to make sure it didn't land on the ground with a loud noise. If any Grunts were present, they would definitely respond to something like that, though they also would of from the Head Smash sound.

Sure enough, not a blue haired pirate in sight.

We did the same thing for the next floor. Chatot went upstairs, mentioned the coast was clear, and allowed us to go up.

Floor 3. Someone had to be waiting up there for us.

"Chatot, do your stuff" Babe said.

Chatot flew up.

"Please come back."

After about 10 minutes, it didn't come down. We were starting to get concerned.

"What's taking that multicoloured Taillow so long anyway?" Roark asked.

"I really hope it's not what I think…" Babe said worried.

Well, we needed to be sure. One more floor.

The five of us reached the top floor. However, we just peered over the stairs. The answer was clear why Chatot hadn't arrived. It was in a cage. Its guard? Commander Saturn.

"That blue haired Bastiodon" Byron snarled.

Babe started to worry. "Not again. I can't do this anymore. I need to go."

It was here that Chatot saw us. That was not a good sign.

"Squawk! The floor is occupied! The floor is occupied!"

Saturn turned his head in our direction.

"Well well, it seems it is. But not from who you are describing my dear Chatot."

"That's MY dear Chatot!" Babe shouted, running towards Saturn.

"Bea no!" Gardenia said, grabbing her by the wrist. "We'll take him on together."

Byron, Roark and I ran to their aid.

"Give it up Saturn!" Roark said, Rampardos growling behind him.

"Oh, what's this? A raid?" Saturn walked up to Roark in particular.

"You lay one hand on my son" Byron snarled, taking out his pickaxe. "I'll mine into your skull harder than all my times mining on Iron Island!"

"Okay, fine!" Saturn said. "You can have Chatot." He went over to the cage. "If…"

Suddenly, a man with red spiky hair in the Team Galactic uniform came up the stairs behind us.

"Sup" he said.

"Ah, Kanto Commander Akihiko. So glad you could make it."

"So, what's up at this moment?" he said, sending out his Blaziken.

"It's two against 5, if you want a fair match don't bother!" Babe shouted.

"Darling, we're Team Galactic. We don't fight fairly!" Saturn sent out Toxicroak, Crobat and Alakazam.

"Yeah!" Akihiko yelled, sending out Gyarados and Ninetales.

"We need to take at least one down each!" I yelled.

"No!" Byron said, putting his pickaxe in front of me. "They may not fight fairly but we do!"

Each of the Pokémon were ganging up on us. Alakazam floated forwards telepathically, Toxicroak took large strides, Crobat silently flew over, Gyarados being as tall as it was inched its terrifying face closer to us, we felt like we were goners.

"Say your prayers to Arceus" Saturn said. "Toxicroak, Poison Jab!" Toxicroak jumped forward and was about to attack me. I shielded my hands, preparing for the worse.

"Bastiodon!" Byron shouted, sending out his shield faced Steel Type, which is immune to Poison Type moves to block the Poison Jab. "Saturn, stop this instant!" He looked out one of the windows to see Looker with a police squad waiting outside.

"Give in!" Babe said.

Just then, the large TV behind Saturn turned on. It was Charon.

"Saturn, my dear nephew. This isn't going to work."

"Uncle Charon!" Saturn yelled back. "What do you mean?"

Behind Charon on the screen, we saw the metal door start to melt.

"The Indigo Champion and his Typhlosion are coming for me. I'm going to have to go into hiding. Do you have everything about the Distortion World?"

Saturn got out a USB. He then plugged it into a computer and sent an email.

We all decided this would be a good idea to try and escape. But we forgot about Akihiko.

"Blaziken, Blaze Kick!" Blaziken's foot started to catch fire. It was aiming for Babe.

"No!" I yelled, as I jumped forward to protect her. Everything went dark…

When I came to, I was in laying in a Hospital bed. Everyone was gathered around me, clearly concerned.

"Elijah!" Babe shouted, hugging me. She forgot about my injuries though, so accidentally lent on them. Ouch.

"Careful!" I said, playfully. I had apparently been out 3 hours.

"Saturn was taken care of" Looker said, entering the room. "Akihiko got away though, and to my knowledge, so did Charon."

It was here that I really wanted to know; where was I?

Roark went over to the window and pulled the curtains. The beautiful lights of Hearthome City shone through.

"Babe, we did make it! Hearthome City!"

Babe kissed me on the cheek. "You were so brave back there! Thank you!"

Looks like I was a hero.

That's where my story ends.

"That was such a nice story" I said. "So, how is Bea?"

Elijah put his right arm behind his head and started rubbing the back of it in embarrassment. "Ah yeah, about that. We kinda broke up a week later. We were supposed to go on another date, but I got distracted by a fishing competition to try and catch the biggest Remoraid and… yeah. She's now dating some guy named Falkner in the Johto region."

Oh.

Finally, we reached the Survival Area.

"Thanks for the story" I told Elijah. "I have a battle with Barry to get to."

Elijah gave me a salute. "Good luck Champ."

Oh yeah, good luck. This might just be our last battle after all…
