39. PUTTING THE PIECES BACK TOGETHER

"The south side tunnels have been destroyed, Ning, Bao and Kun are retreating, and no news from Shu and Mei!" Chong said marking with a crayon the points of their hiding place, now rendered unusable by humans.

Guo, Chong, Hai and Tai-Yang remained close to the boat to guard the boys packed inside, but also to keep the situation under control.

It was also crucial to protect both ammunition and food supplies.

Humans could have tried to destroy them and it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Kang and Tai had disappeared into a tunnel for an obscure reason.

Maybe they had gone to check on their respective companions, or they didn't want to be left without doing anything.

It didn't matter! Shen made a face.

Until now he had only clashed with small groups of humans, as if she were studying or testing them!

But now he understood his real intentions!

They were locking them in!

He expected it, at first it was his intention to do the same thing, now he had to follow the backup plan, but without a report from the she-wolf he could not decide how to move!

He absolutely had to know the external situation, to avoid sending everyone into the dragon's jaws.

"Stay here in case anyone comes!" Shen said taking his sword of the sun and the moon.

"Wait up! What if they were human?" The frightened brother asked.

"Then hide and pray they won't find you!" Shen said before disappearing into a dark passageway.

That labyrinth of caverns was doing a great job.

Since it was very large it had forced the humans to separate and it would take them some time to find the boat.

Yes, despite the weeks spent completing the construction, Shen knew very well that it would be destroyed!

The work done on the cave to allow her to pass through the narrow exit would also be lost.

They had widened the entrance without using explosives to avoid attracting unwanted attention, using a lot of energy and effort ... but now Shen was certain of one thing: the boat could be rebuilt if destroyed, their lives could not!

That was no longer just a boat!

Carmela, by killing Derek, gave him the perfect idea to have an advantage in the fight!

At his signal they would move the boys to another place and then yes, things would get serious.

For now the two opponents were just studying each other!

Shen did not even have time to realize the presence of someone in front of him who was overwhelmed. The weight that had anchored it to the ground disappeared almost immediately.

In the dark he heard Zhan growl and another familiar growl answered him.

"You are truly a mentally handicapped person! It's us, dog!" Mei was back.

Bo holed up in a large hole too high up for humans to see or even want to control.

Despite what they risked, the bipeds did not appear to be fully focused on their work.

They wanted them dead, but they gave the idea that they were doing it only out of duty.

Besides, either you believe in something or not!

Apparently they were thinking only of the reward offered by ... her, for those who would help her.

Money is easy to recruit men, but not loyalty or devotion.

Despite the absence of light, the little bat moved with dexterity. He was born for places like that so he could say he had an advantage.

The felines also had great night vision, but no one could match it!

The hiding place was very crowded as all the birds of the reserve were present.

Not the peacocks. Let me be clear, peacocks do not fly, they were born only to "fall" with style!

"The signal?" Hua asked nervously "Still nothing!" Bo answered calmly.

"We do not have much time!" Meng said seeing lights coming from one of the tunnels, before disappearing inside it.

Fortunately, the humans had changed direction.

"They will arrive quietly!" The bat replied sitting on the ground showing incredible self-control.

In short, it was impossible that he was not worried!

A footstep alerted them instantly, but not negatively, if the darkness remained it meant they were friends. "Guys..." in fact it was Zhong "...get ready! Humans have collapsed two tunnels, it seems they want to help us!" He said sarcastically.

"As soon as they realize the mistake it will be too late!" Hua said smiling at the good luck that seemed to want to favor them!

Shen's plan could be called both genius and suicidal: to trap as many humans as possible and face others openly! ...

Maybe just the last adjective was enough!

Hua sighed. If someone had told her that within five years she would have found herself involved in a war to the death against legends, she would probably have called him crazy.

There had been a lot of talk about fate in the last few months. When the wolves who had joined them, he had started to believe it.

It was their fate to defeat the humans!

Save their world from this terrible threat!

The wait lasted so long that Hua sank into a deep sleep.

The owl smiled, he loved it when he dreamed of it or maybe ... did he remember?

A wooden stick gripped in its claws and another in its wing.

The dust that rose from the puppet when it hit him and the amused and proud looks of his parents.

Ah, and how could a brother be missing spite?

As a child, her greatest desire was to become a valiant warrior, to fight to help people.

Now he understood that he wanted it only in the hope of being able to integrate.

His family was simple. His father was a merchant and never made his loved ones lack for anything.

But his birth had complicated things. Not to mention his wishes.

Hua had heard the rules of etiquette to be followed throughout her childhood and that women were not suitable for combat.

But that did not mean that her parents had "clipped her wings" in a metaphorical sense since when she was captured she was not yet able to fly.

They had taken refuge in a house by the sea that was sufficiently isolated to allow her to be outdoors all day without having to worry about being observed or judged.

It all seemed so simple then.

Her older brother Zi was old enough to take part in some of her father's trips, while she, with her five years, could enjoy her free time apart from looking after her younger sister Yan, who was then just one year old.

Growing up, the biggest and most important goal of her life became to find a mate.

Her brother got engaged and she didn't want to be outdone, even if that meant putting away the sword.

Yet she seemed to have been born just for that!

At the age of ten he completely transformed himself indulging in hot afternoon teas and city walks in search of the so-called perfect party.

Her parents had also supported her in that decision even though they were aware that it was still too early. And it was shortly after this change that his brother decided to get married.

The day before the ceremony they had gathered at home to greet Zi ...

He remembered that day well.

What happened that would haunt her throughout her life!

The roar of thunder and the smell of burning.

The screams of her parents, the cry of little Yan.

Zi had entered their room and after picking up the chick had told her to run into the woods.

She had obeyed. She was afraid. She had never seen his brother so strange ...?

Now he knew well what he had seen: Zi was terrified!

She had just hid in a bush that her mother's scream had made her turn around.

She had never done it!

The fire had enveloped the house ... and inside ... there were his brothers!

The mother screamed. Desperate. He was calling for help.

She tried to get closer but the fire forced her to retreat.

It was too big, too strong, too hot to stop him.

Her mother called her too. He thought she stayed inside! The cries went unheard.

They ... lived far from the city, no one could hear or help them. And all because of her!

The screams of pain of his brothers! It impressed indelibly in her memory.

Those terrifying cries that made her mother lose her mind who followed her instinct and threw herself into the flames in an attempt to save at least one of her children ... condemning himself to death!

Only when the house collapsed on itself did she find the strength to escape from that nightmare ... to be swallowed up in another.

In the bush an immense animal had appeared before her.

A white cloak, blue eyes, cold and empty: Ning!

He was the one who had brought her to Derek.

And it was that human that changed her life!

"But how can you sleep in such a moment!" Apparently Heng did not share the idea of beauty sleep given the rude way in which he woke her up.

"I'm sure we will win!" Hua said sleepily.

They had to! Or in the future, other innocents would have met death!

Shu ran fast. The sound of a small landslide made her stop and turn back.

The traps had worked great. As her wolves ran out of the bipeds who had been lucky enough to survive she was preparing to update the map.

They had killed many, yet not enough! There were too many humans!

She didn't feel so confident anymore, but she knew that if she didn't hold on she would let them win easily! He trusted Shen.

He had only failed once, he could do it again, but she was sure that one lesson was enough.

That peacock was extraordinary. He had freed them from the stone walls of the reserve and was aiming for freedom.

Of course, nothing else could be expected from a future sovereign, but the she-wolf felt that he had something else.

Something innate, which he had not learned from his father, indeed, which no mentor could teach him: he was stubborn!

He could very well have called him stubborn in some ways.

But even if in some cases it could be seen as a defect, in their situation it was an advantage and an advantage to be exploited.

Shu grabbed a branch that protruded from a rock. It might have looked like an ordinary piece of wood, but Shen was the master of deception and his brilliant mind allowed him to do incredible things.

The she-wolf lowered the lever and as if by magic a secret passage opened in the wall.

"Remember, containment, not annihilation. You must give us time to proceed with the final offensive!" she told his men before disappearing inside the tunnel followed by two other wolves.

Obviously not everything is as pink and flower as it seems.

There was too much silence, indeed, a tense stillness, if it could be defined that way.

Their predatory instincts alerted them and they fanned out into the cave where the secret passage had led them.

A metallic noise preceded a violent explosion and a wolf fell to the ground lifeless.

Shu walked over to the body and noticed that a small piece of earth the wolf had walked over seemed to be shaken, as if someone had been digging recently, too recently!

"Street!" The whisper of her companion, the following push and the sound of the shots forced her to escape as quickly as possible.

They were clearly outnumbered and he also had to inform Shen about the situation on the surface.

He stopped as soon as he saw the artificial light of the humans and decided to assess the situation.

To his great surprise, there was no one next to the object which meant that it was day in one of the many tunnels present.

He would ask for an explanation later.

Shu started running again and had to admit that her enemy had done her a favor: she could spot humans thanks to their shadows cast on the walls, even before she could smell them!

This allowed her to go unnoticed by crossing five groups of humans who were beating that area inch by inch.

No! They were heading for the exits! Because?

"What do you mean humans have withdrawn?" Bao asked in shock.

"Why should they do it?" Manchu asked "If they want to kill us they should attack!" Cheung pointed out. Many questions and protests arose from all those who had withdrawn once they realized that humans were no longer inside the tunnels, finding themselves next to the boat.

Many wolves fighting outside had perished, while the others, thanks to the caves, had emerged more or less unscathed.

Fortunately, the number of injuries was extremely low, apart from Xu, who was the most serious.

A wolf from the Shu pack was a good doctor, and the prognosis for the panther was not good.

The left shoulder had a bad burn.

While numerous cuts covered the body of the feline, but it was his face to be made worse. It seemed as if a mace had hit him in the face given the numerous cuts on the left side of the face, caused by the impact with the wall.

As if that weren't enough, the fire had hurt his skin, but also his eyes!

There was a good chance that he would completely lose his sight ... Humans would have paid for that too! Shen watched from the top of a ledge.

Mei, Kang and Tai were standing next to him.

"They beat us!" Mei said that for a while she continued to feel a strange sense of alertness, concern ... she was afraid that the bipeds were planning something!

"They will have understood that this is a territory in which we move well. Maybe they want to let us out!" Tai ventured.

"No, they have something in mind! If we all stay here we are vulnerable. We must retreat to the forest!" Kang said nervously.

"You mean through the secret passage we built?" Mei asked that although she knew the answer, she still wanted to hear it from Kang.

"Exact!" The peacock answered.

"No!" Shen's powerful voice spread across the room "We won't play their game! We have to be smart!" He said addressing everyone present.

"What do you have in mind?" Shu asked eager to discover the peacock's plan.

"Shu, go get Hua and the others! Bao, take your group to the east exit, Kun you go west. Look for a safe exit and hide in the woods. Mei you take care of the wounded. Zhan and all the others ... it's time to set sail!" Shen said as he strode towards the boat.

Two hundred.

This was the number of victims of a half-day attack.

The animals were more than dangerous, they were lethal. But it had weakened them. From what the survivors had told, many animals had been killed.

This was thanks to their modern technology that had managed to create weapons against which swords and spears could do little.

It was time to proceed with the real part of the plan: containment and annihilation!

Lock them in the place they think is best and kill them with poisonous gas.

Simple, fast and without sacrificing other useless lives ... human!

So why did he hesitate to give the command? It didn't matter that it was an animal.

The leader who led the animals was intelligent, cunning ... unique! How could he let him be killed. It was a rare specimen!

He could have advanced their research done on other anthropomorphic animals with the sole purpose of understanding how they could have progressed so much.

Derek had been naive enough to allow her to capture more animals than expected!

But he did it only for the good of humanity! Would they someday make their own technological advancement?

Would they have been a real danger?

Carmela was well aware that the magical passage between the two worlds remained open only if the three large lunar boulders remained in such a position as to form a triangle. It would have been enough to destroy them!

Which could have allowed them to stop them even before they reached their shores, but which did not completely lower the percentage of danger!

But the goal he constantly sought and with an obsession bordering on normality was a way to get them back to the wild!

Or, if it were impossible ... a way to tame them!

If you cannot annihilate something or rather someone, it is wise to control him, have him on your side! That's how he did it with his dear little sister.

But his parents didn't like that beautiful bond that had formed between them.

What harm was there if Isabelle obeyed her even if she ordered her to jump off the cliff, or to set fire to her bed ...

She was just eight, while her sister was three years younger when they were divided.

She was sent to a nursing home and was disowned by her parents and Isabelle ... she forgot about her existence!

Years passed and in the meantime she was discharged, with a false name. Her had been ripped off!

Oh, how happy she had been to learn about the arranged marriage, her unhappiness ... so enthusiastic that she got Derek to hire her as secretary so that he could spy on her better.

At the news of the flight, anger was the only companion he had. How could this be? He had to pay for what she had done to her!

She must have suffered twice as much as she had suffered. It was from this that his organization was born! In a few months he had enough men to control a vast territory and find it.

Unfortunately things did not go as planned as before he could finish it Derek found out and ran to get it back.

With her death everything should have ended, but Carmela felt a hatred growing inside her at the thought that her daughter lived.

And luckily it was she who sentenced herself to death once she decided to take the side of the animals! "Mrs!" Problems coming.

That was what that tone of voice "Animals are running away in a boat!" Foreshadowed.

N! This n!

She would have exterminated them rather than seeing them go comfortably!

There was no time to destroy the moonstones, let alone think about moving them.

She had to decide!

Quickly!

A huge airship reached the galleon which, with its sails unfurled, went further and further out into the open.

Thanks to ropes, many humans landed on the main deck.

"Remember! The alpha must be captured alive!" The last one who came down said.

The men immediately began to search the entire ship.

From the bow to the stern and in the cabins.

But it was on the lower deck that they discovered a large load that was foreign to them.

"Open these barrels!" The chief ordered.

"Lord!" A young man ran to meet his superior excitedly "What's going on? Have you found them?" He asked, chilling all those who looked at him with skepticism.

They had checked every part of the ship and of the animals, not even the shadow!

"There is a hidden trap door. But it's closed! I ask permission to be able to blow it up to verify its content!" The young man asked.

"Permission granted!" The boss replied, but as soon as the other turned, he blocked him by the arm "Wait! I want to make sure the alpha is captured alive! I come with you!" He said before being guided to the hiding place of those flea bags.

Access to the secret compartment was wide and the man trembled with joy, relieved to have succeeded in the mission.

That hatch had been well built so the use of dynamite was more than justified.

"Charges fixed!" Said the blaster.

They all stood at a safe distance and the detonator was triggered.

Carmela whirled at the sound of a large explosion. He was standing on the cliff while organizing the recovery of the animals to be stuffed.

The ship disintegrated in a huge ball of fire and as if that weren't enough fireworks shot skyward.

On their trajectory there was the airship and being so many, too many to be able to dodge them, they hit a compartment full of helium in the bow which inevitably caught fire.

The big machine leaned dangerously forward and as the helium burned it left only the skeleton of the airship intact.

The stern was struggling to stay in the air and the weight of the bow, now unsupported, became unsustainable due to the structure that broke.

A small section of the bow broke away from the rest of the airship, falling on top of what was left of the boat.

The remainder remained suspended in the air for a few seconds before even the last compartment of helium was swallowed by the fire and, in the end, it too fell.

Shen had enjoyed the show from the top of a tree.

Some white wolves had spotted the airship and had communicated it to him just in time to be able to add the fireworks to the boat, positioning them in such a way that they pointed upwards and in different directions.

Rose had revealed how vulnerable that flying machine was and Shen was pleased to have been able to exploit that one weakness.

The end result was: more humans annihilated than expected!

He had counted on that someone would try to stop the boat, but seeing them so numerous had been a joy!

Carmela had hinted that she didn't want to kill them, not all of them!

Otherwise, according to what Rose said, it would have been enough for her to destroy the boat!

The risk of losing all that ammunition had been taken, and with exceptional results!

The white peacock paupulated as loud as possible before gliding down from the tree and running towards the human encampment.

It was time for reckoning.

The bipeds had brought with them destruction and desolation to that part of the woods, adjacent to their hiding place, which they had occupied.

For this the animals stopped where the vegetation still allowed them to hide.

With a nod of his head, Shen gave the beginning to the end.

Tai-Yang, Mao, Fu and Hai set fire to the fuses and set off the first rockets.

Thanks to their speed and power, they wounded and killed many humans.

Those who had been alerted just had time to take up the weapons that the animals were already on them.

Pei, Ning, Dishi and Wing used their immense bulk to outmaneuver as many humans as possible, allowing others to finish them off with ease once they hit the ground.

Shen threw one of his deadly knives at an enemy who had found himself behind Lu-Chu. She became aware of the danger when it had passed, staring in amazement at the lifeless man.

Her gaze shifted to the lama who had saved her, to her savior.

The smile she gave him made the peacock's feathers crawl.

He still had to get used to the peafowl's maternal manners. He liked them, but part of him couldn't get rid of the uncomfortable feeling he felt each time.

Kun and Qi set off fireworks that emitted only a red smoke trail. At that signal a fireball hit some trees not far from them!

"They have to improve their aim!" Said the crocodile "And we have to move faster! We won't have this luck again!" The gorilla said before grabbing the barrel of a gun and hitting the human at the other end with the butt.

Tai, Feng, Kueng, Cheng and Chao fought together.

Scary, deadly, and gorgeous, they seemed to dance as they struck and parried in such maneuvers, using their tails to disorient the humans they passed, previously disarmed by Jiang and Jun.

Explosions destroyed their formation and those of many others, forcing them to find shelter in the thick of the woods.

Hua flew high in the sky.

With Shan and Meng watching her back, she was preoccupied with identifying any dangers and uttering warning noises.

But at that moment nothing foreshadowed the beginning of that disaster.

She saw Wei and Jun being carried by Ning, as far away from the humans as possible.

They had been injured!

The problem was, he couldn't locate the source of the explosions!

Maybe the humans had planted what they called "bombs" all over the woods before their arrival?

Why then, were they just exploding now?

She found the answer as soon as he saw bipeds on top of trees throwing small objects towards the ground. She hadn't noticed them because they were dressed in the same green as the trees and probably until recently, they had stood still so as not to be spotted. Brilliant!

She had nothing to complain about.

But he had to stop them! With a sign from him, Chan, the swift and lethal hawk, threw himself into the trees, except to glide over the heads of the enemies before planting in their backs the numerous throwing stars made for the occasion.

Humans fell from the trees like ripe fruit and Hua gave the go-ahead signal.

Cheung, Dishi, Genji and Cong, Huan, Jian, Long and Lok peeped out of a hollow log.

The ferret and the weasel had dug a tunnel on the spot and found themselves in the enemy's lair.

They could quietly observe and listen to the voice of the one who wanted them dead, but it was not their goal.

The three birds hid in the branches of a tree, taking care to make as little noise as possible, while the two squirrels placed various small boxes, containing the black powder, near a large iron building.

Shen had told them to destroy human ammunition, but that strange thing seemed much more dangerous, ergo, it took precedence.

The fuse attached to each box was extremely short, so Huan took aim with his bow before letting the flaming arrowhead light it.

The noise was heard by the humans, but it was too late.

Several explosions, one after the other, shook the entire area.

The ammunition was destroyed, the weapon intact and she was still alive!

Carmela was, to say the least, surprised by the animals' speed of reaction.

She understood that the boat had been just a trap that she, naive, had taken the bait.

But she didn't think they were so mad, or desperate, to attack right away!

Nor to be able to infiltrate the main camp!

It had numerous thermal and motion detectors positioned almost everywhere in that forest for that very reason!

Keep animals under control!

Yet the few machine guns at his disposal were destroyed almost immediately when the birds swooped from the sky and killed the men who wielded them, only to destroy them.

It was bad that those flea bags knew how much they depended on weapons ...

Many of his soldiers had been too easily disarmed, and without a weapon they could do little against a cat or a ton of cattle.

But the thing that had infuriated her was the discovery of their large number.

According to the latest news, there should not have been more than a hundred, since in theory many had died during the raid inside the mountain.

She had left a bad taste in her mouth, discovering that those reported data were false!

The wolves weren't numerous, but there were the animals that had attacked them on all four fronts, surrounding them.

It wouldn't have been a problem if they hadn't started using equally powerful and destructive weapons. Their rockets had proved extremely effective and on one front, the men had retreated for a good stretch of wood.

An all too familiar voice distracted her from her thoughts.

"You are taking too many losses! Retire and I will convince them to let you go!" Rose had looked out from behind a tree where she was hiding.

"I was wondering when you would show up!" Carmela said, smiling and gesturing to the guard beside her to lower the weapon.

"You betrayed my father and killed my mother! I won't let you hurt them too! Tell me what you want and let's finish it here!" The girl said with a surge of courage.

"Your father? Are you naive enough to believe that I drink your lies? I know you know the truth! Courage ... ask me where your REAL father is! I'm sure ... you're dying to do it!" She replied with malice.

"He ... he ... I don't care! I've never met him! Do you really think I can care about ... a stranger?" Rose had tried beyond all limits, but she realized for herself that her voice was too painful for the damned one to believe her story of indifference!

"Thank god! Then I won't have to tell you where I buried him! It's always one less to think about!" Carmela said as if she were talking about a temporarily suspended daily activity.

"You lie!" Screamed the girl scared to death.

She laughed in a very feminine way.

"Think of it as you want! But maybe you will believe me if I tell you the reason for my choice!" She continued to speak, incited by the desperate need of that girl, to know everything that could be read in her face "If she hadn't continually given me problems trying to escape I would have left him to rot where I had locked him up. But a stubborn father is more harmful than I thought! And even though I was burning with the desire to keep him separated from your mother, in the end my good heart gave in and ... I reunited them!" Carmela finished saying.

"You're a liar! He could serve you to manipulate me and get you what you want ... that would be, the control of these rare animals!" Rose screamed fully convinced she was in danger and risking falling into her cruel psychological game!

"I'm sincere! For the first time in many years!" She replied nodding to the girl "It's a wonderful feeling!" she added looking at her as if she had just met her idol.

"Get out! Or I'll let the animals kill up to the last of you! " Rose said, drawing a large dagger.

Xian had taught her to throw them and since she had reached a good level, she felt very confident.

"You know I was almost tempted to tell you my secret, but I think it's your mother who has to tell you the whole truth! My kind and caring soul has prevailed again!" Carmela said, nodding her head, to the guard who was with her "Soon you will meet her!" The man pointed the gun at Rose and she felt torn between enthusiasm and terror.

She would finally meet his mother ... by dying!

She knew that in that battle his presence would not help.

That is, he wasn't as agile as cats, he couldn't fly, and he didn't run as fast as wolves.

Yet the idea of negotiating a surrender with the enemy had seemed good to her. He would have done something!

But no, not even that!

The man stared straight into her eyes and she did not break that eye contact, she would have died uselessly, but not like a coward!

The shot went off, but a blue smudge came between her and death.

Mei stopped spinning and tried to recover the sense of direction, made missing by the world in constant motion around her.

The fight was not going well!

Many had withdrawn because they were wounded and even more were lying on the ground in agony.

The could not be helped because they were too out in the open and humans, sadistic and cruel, did not finish them just for the pleasure of giving them a slow and painful death.

But as if someone had listened to his concerns, a cannonball crashed into the last group of humans that was opposing them, killing them instantly.

Shen immediately started running. Eager to cut off the dragon's head and end the fight as soon as possible. Zhan was at his side even though he was limping visibly.

The cat had tried several times, without being heard by the peacock, to persuade him to retreat, but the head of that canid was harder than marble and he had not come off Shen's side.

Apparently he wanted to die that day!

Gunshots made them hide behind anything that could protect them but being a single human, a knife from Shen was enough to overcome the danger.

They were in what was left of a human encampment.

It had been abandoned in a hurry, so much so that there were still many weapons and ammunition.

The tents spread out on the ground, some burned and numerous craters made it clear that there must have been the hand of Hua and the others, given the absence of footprints.

From above they must have identified and eliminated it.

On the other hand, they had simply done as they were told to do. So ... one less problem!

Shen beckoned to Shu and the remaining wolves to look for fresh tracks that could bring them either from other humans or from Carmela, who at the time had not yet been identified.

A shot in the distance made it clear that someone had managed to overcome them, but the cry and the desperate screams that followed made everyone present freeze in place.

How did Rose get there without being noticed?

Xian was the first to shoot, overwhelming poor Shen as he hurried towards the one he regarded as a sister. The brother didn't take it, or at least not at that moment. It was not a good time to fight, so Shen just followed him.

Xian threw himself with momentum on the human who was threatening poor Rose, appearing from a large bush surprising all the others present.

Shen was the second to appear, closely followed by Mei, Zhan, the wolves and those who were with him.

A sense of euphoria hit him as soon as he realized who he was in front of: it was her!

He decided not to give the enemy reaction time and attacked immediately.

Bad mistake!

Carmela pulled out one of those weapons they called a "pistol" and was fast enough to hit it.

Shen screamed as he fell to the ground clutching his left shoulder.

This awakened Zhan from the trance who had been standing still to observe the fight and the wolf disarmed the human with a blow of his hammer causing her to fall and roll several meters back.

She wasted no time and started running towards a specific goal.

Shen got up with difficulty and ignored the wolf who asked him if everything was okay.

He couldn't let it slip away like that!

But before he took even a step a cry caught his attention.

The peacock turned and the world collapsed on him. Rose was bending over someone, crying and begging him to resist.

Xian obscured some of his vision, but Shen began to tell himself that the green rump feathers were not what he thought.

The white stain on them was just an illusion of his mind because he was losing a lot of blood from the wound on his shoulder!

It had to be like that! It couldn't be otherwise!

Kang was turned on his side and a large pool of blood was spreading under him!

After the first moment of shock, Shen felt the anger grow inside him. It had been a long time since he felt this way!

That anger was felt when he considered his title a fundamental part of his person!

That uncontrollable fury that seized him when he heard someone speak ill of him behind his back, when his parents ignored him for the seventh day in a row...and when she had hurt Kang!

Forgetting about the wound, accompanied by a primordial scream, the white peacock set off in pursuit of the culprit.

Eager to repay the human with the same coin!

It didn't take long for him to find it. He was handling a weapon very similar to his guns and aimed it in the direction of Xian and Rose.

"Stop!" He screamed as he swung his weapon trying to appear as threatening as possible even with the terrible shoulder injury.

The wing dangled along its side, but it seemed as if it had become numb even to pain!

He who had always been the opposite!

"Kill me and your little friends will follow the same fate as me!" Carmela said with a strange light in her eyes.

A growl made him turn and to his surprise he realized that only Mei and Zhan had followed him.

Well against a human in three they would have been able to get by on their own!

"No, wait..." the human said before triggering a strange mechanism "I'll watch them die!" A sadistic smile formed on Carmela's face and it was the last thing Shen saw.

A huge explosion engulfed the human in a ball of fire, the tremendous impact that ensued overwhelmed the peacock, the wolf and the leopard.

Then silence reigned supreme.

Excuse me very much for the immense delay.

I confess that without reviews and comments I am no longer interested in this story.

Maybe something decent didn't come out and I'm sorry!

I don't know if I will finish it, I will try to do it because I hate leaving things unfinished, but the failure did not push me to continue it anytime soon!

I'm sorry.

I wish everyone a good day,
