A/N: The team discuss another essential part of parenthood.
"Ok, so far we have Samantha, Chloe and Maria for a girl. And nothing for a boy," Kensi said, holding up the small list that comprised possible baby names they both agreed on. "Unless you're still a fan of Shepherd."
"Yeah, no, I was joking about that," Deeks answered with an affected shudder. Kensi made a noise of relief.
"Thank god. I can't stand that name." Smirking at her, Deeks reached for the list and squinted at a couple crossed out names.
"I see you don't have Princess Sunshine on here." Kensi rolled her eyes and snatched it back.
"Stop messing around," she said with mock severeness. "This is is serious."
"Ok, ok." Leaning back in his desk chair, Deeks squinted his eyes and finally said, "What about Jacob?"
"Has potential. What else you got?"
"I don't know, can't we just wait until the baby's born and decide then?" he asked, drawing a blank. Honestly, he couldn't picture any name fitting their yet-to-be-conceived baby.
"We are not going to be the parents that the hospital staff talks about behind our backs," Kensi said and Deeks frowned.
"I'm pretty sure that's not a thing."
"You know, Samuel's a good, strong name," Sam offered from across the room. The boys had been ignoring them for the most part for the last half hour and Deeks had almost forgotten they were there.
"Um…" Kensi said awkwardly, turning to Deeks.
"We'll keep that in mind," he said and Sam rolled his eyes.
"It's ok, you don't have to put it on the list if you don't want to." Despite his playful tone, it was clear Sam was mildly offended.
"Oh no, it's a great name. We'll just have to see little Deeks before we decided on any name," Deeks explained quickly.
"You know, I hear short names are in right now," Callen said, glancing at Sam with a wide smirk.
"We are not naming our child "G", Kensi said, rolling her eyes and having no qualms about possibly offending him.
"Ok, then what about Grisha?" Sam made an exasperated noise and answered before either Kensi or Deeks could.
"G, if they don't like Samuel, then they're certainly not going to choose "Grisha".
"Why not, it's a perfectly good name. And it's unique. The chances of there being any other little Grishas running around at daycare are slim to none," Callen pointed out, clearly enjoying Sam's annoyance.
"It's not happening." Deeks frowned at Sam, even though he wholeheartedly agreed.
"Yeah, ok. First of all, we never said we didn't like your names," Deeks said and Sam straightened up.
"Oh, so you're adding them to the list?"
"No!" Kensi said loudly. "We're not naming any of our future children after you guys. And before you ask, we're not naming them after anyone in this office."
"Well, that seems like a bit of an overreaction," Callen commented with a shake of his head. Kensi glared at him ineffectually.
"I bet waiting til we're at the hospital is sounding really good now," Deeks said.
"Shut up."
