"Come on, Willow. Don't you think you're overreacting?"
Smurfwillow pinched the bridge of her nose. "We're done talking about this, girls."
The Smurfettes in the room huddled together. The tension had settled over them like a looming fog. Even Smurfblossom couldn't put on a smile. Smurflily glanced at Smurfstorm. She shrugged. "Don't look at me. The atmosphere is so thick, you could cut it with a knife."
Smurflily groaned. "Smurfwillow, you may not agree with it, but whether or not she decides to keep that baby - "
Willow whipped her head around to face them. "That thing is not a baby. It's an abomination growing inside her. A product of a mad wizard that made it for his own gain."
"But - " Smurfblossom started.
"But nothing!" Willow barked. "No matter how she tries to raise that...that thing, it'll only turn out just like him. I'm sure of it."
"You don't know that!" Smurfblossom cried.
"Willow, please," Smurflily begged. "Stop this."
Smurfwillow sighed. She knew they were only defending their friend. And she had acknowledged that Smurfette had come off the binary in so many ways. But the most logical explanation is usually the right one. She couldn't take any chances. Sometimes, she had to detach herself from her emotions. For the greater good.
She shook her head. "If you're not going to say anything helpful, then I suggest you leave."
The three stood warily, unsure what to do or say. Finally Smurflily spoke.
"Willow, we're worried about you. Maybe you should take a few weeks to relax - "
"For Smurf's sake, Lily!" She yanked her wrist, gripping it tightly. "I don't want to hear another word about this. Once that thing comes out of her, I'll kill it myself!"
Smurfwillow's body flew into the wall behind her, knocking the wind out of her. Smurfstorm aimed an arrow at her leader. Willow stared at her incredulously. Was she really going to ... ?
Smurfstorm lowered her bow. "We respect you as a leader, Smurfwillow. But you can't decide who lives and who doesn't."
Smurfwillow didn't move. She didn't speak. She only stared at her.
Smurfstorm turned back to her sisters. "Let's go, guys."
Smurflily and Smurfblossom exited the hut. Smurfstorm never lost her gaze on Smurfwillow. She glowered, her eyes peeking from under the rim of her hat. Her voice was low and menacing as she growled:
"Don't come near them."
She turned and left the hut.
