Chapter 34
Louisa's point of view
Will and I stood up at the same time. When we started walking towards his car, I stole a glance his way. The glum monotonous scowl marring his sculpted mouth caught my attention. Not being able to hold myself back,
"What is the matter?" I asked him.
"I am not fond of horse-racing competitions, " he confessed after a momentary pause; scratching the back of his head.
"It wouldn't be much of stretch to say I hated every minute of it, " he told me, angling his head towards me; allowing me to see his disgruntled expression.
"I am sorry for putting you through something you hated, " I apologized; scrunching up my eyebrows.
"I hold up my end of the bargain, " I surrendered; holding both my hands up in clear defeat.
"I will do whatever you want me to, " I continued; walking alongside him.
"I will take you to a surprise event next week on Saturday night, " he said; an impish grin quirking up the right corner of his mouth; his dimples becoming prominent.
"It is fair, " I conceded, finally reaching his car.
"I will be ready next Saturday, " I concurred; opening the door of the car and getting into it.
"Good, " he agreed when I turned on the ignition.
When we were on the main road, I could not stop myself from offering a justification behind my persistence to bring him with him. He had to know why I took him to a horse racing competition.
"Actually, I wanted to bring Treena here with me, " I clarified, turning sideways to offer him a brief glance.
"She refused and as usual she used Thomas as an excuse to not come here with me, " I explained.
"I consider you to be my friend Will, not just my boss, " I admitted; unable to hold back the sincere feelings I had come to feel for him over time.
"If I had seen you as a stranger, I would not have accepted your offer of working at your Prembroke castle."
"Accepting offers or gifts from people is overstepping moral boundaries for me, " I told him; meeting his inquisitive eyes.
"Even allowing my employee to take me to a place I had zero idea about was a big revelation for me, " he countered; holding my gaze.
"If it were any other person; I would not have wasted a chance to chill in the big castle on a Saturday, " he said; smirking at me.
