Lessons In Love: Chapter Eighty-Five: Seven Nation Army (Part 5)
Stephen explained what his father said, and Tony's stomach felt pinched. He just heard that Stephen was possibly responsible for his sister's death.
Tony was speechless. He kept staring at the person that was sitting on the floor in his bedroom, while his mind ran rampant. I'm sorry, what?
Stephen watched Tony open his mouth, but nothing came out.
"I don't remember holding her under the water. I only remember trying to revive her. That's what.. I remember."
He remembered it all the time. Stephen felt like he was going to be sick. He wiped at one side of his face, and Tony held his silence for a really long time.
Everything that he heard was really heavy shit. He had no idea that Stephen went through something like that. Tony didn't believe he was capable of murdering his own sister. No way.
Tony thought about how different he was with Victor. Stephen loved him, Tony saw that in so many different ways. A thought crossed Tony's mind, and he blurted out the word as it arrived in his head.
"BONKERS. My older self told me that your emotions are bonkers. Maybe, it's connected."
Tony was glad that he remembered. Stephen's eyebrow arched upward and he delicately tried to proceed with a response.
"Bonkers.."
He wondered what the hell that even meant. The future Sorcerer Supreme touched his own forehead. He tried to slip his mind into anything other than where it was. He still felt blocked.
Tony got even closer to him. He poked Stephen's forehead and kept talking about the word that was used by his older self.
"Yes. Bonkers. He said that, and I've noticed some things as well."
Stephen took Tony's hand in his. He stopped him from poking his forehead, and he looked up at the brunette. He was curious about what Tony noticed. Stephen tried to hold onto what he felt for Tony, but even in that moment, he felt it slipping away.
Stephen felt like he always had to start over from scratch. That feeling didn't happen when his mind centered on another person. Stephen couldn't explain it, but nothing left his mind when he thought about Clea.
He wondered how that could be. Tony was pretty quiet. He stared at Stephen's face, and he started thinking about the hotel. They were very close on the floor, and Tony thought that his own hand was gunna melt. His entire body was heating up.
Stephen watched him squirm around. Tony started getting weird, and Stephen gently let go of his hand. What he felt for him was gone. Stephen sounded very casual and distant when he spoke to Tony again.
"Bonkers is probably an understatement. I've been trying to talk to Clea, but some person interrupted us. I'm not sure who it was, or why."
He didn't know the reasoning for anything. Stephen spoke out his thought, and he kept thinking about it. Tony's weirdness continued. He heard the name Clea and an insecure feeling sank in.
Tony was hit with a jealous feeling. That shit bit him hard, right there on his bedroom floor.
He thought about Stephen's voodoo meditation stuff. He did that shit for hours, and now Tony knew who he was mentally talking to.
It made sense, I mean, Clea was beautiful. Tony kept thinking about the tinker bell princess, and how different Stephen was around her.
Tony couldn't bite his tongue. He tried for half a second, but the sting in his chest made him do it.
"WOW. Remind me of that next time you randomly show up at my house, or when you sleep in my friggen bed."
TCH. Tony held a very angry expression on his face. He was very done with their conversation. Stephen was immediately blindsided by Tony's behavior. The would-be-sorcerer quietly gasped as he watched him stand up. Tony started doing weird stuff with his shoes.
He was pissed off because he just spent an entire evening being worried about SOME JERK. He even did... stuff ... with him, and tried to help him sleep. Tony felt stupid..
That anger spilled over toward STEVE PERFECT FACE ROGERS as well. They both could go to hell. Stephen watched Tony tie his shoe for the third time. He didn't even want to ask about that noise.
He was trying to work out what he wanted to do. First, he wanted to use the amulet that was worn by his older self. He always wanted it and for some reason, Stephen felt like Clea could help. He barely listened to what Tony said. Stephen just finished talking out his thought.
"Well, gosh. Excuse me for showing up, your highness.. I didn't know how to get to the Dark Dimension. I think Clea is the key to fixing this block that I seem to have in my mind."
Stephen stared blankly at the floor. He heard Tony loudly say the word WOW again before he formed a portal. Tony wanted to leave his own bedroom.
If Stephen said the name Clea one more time, Tony planned to throw a chair at his head. It was just like Steve's constant crap about Bucky Wonder. Fuck that. Tony declared himself single, for life. He held his glare, and the brunette skipped from one location to the next.
Stephen quickly got up and followed him. He didn't care about Tony's bizarre temper tantrum. Stephen fully intended to ignore it, as the two of them entered the Kamar taj.
Now, guess who they saw? Tony and Stephen saw the baby Steve Rogers, and the older Stephen Strange. Tony heard the actual Sorcerer Supreme mention that they were late.
Tony didn't look at any of them. In his opinion, they all were horrible.
