Chapter 40
Arizona's P.O.V:
"Valentine's Day is coming up," I say, slightly touching Callie with my foot. She's so focused on the movie we were watching, she apparently didn't hear me. So I tapped her again, but this time a little harder.
"Ow. What?" She says, finally looking up. I have never seen her so focused on a movie, especially a Disney movie. She's either trying to nail me, or she's helping me take care of Noah.
"I said, that Valentine's Day is coming up." I tried again.
"It's still a little over a week away." She tells me.
"I know. But it's still coming up."
"Yeah. And?" She snaps. She's been in a cranky mood the last few days, which normally tells me, she's probably coming down sick or she's had a rough day at work.
"Why you so crabby tonight?" I ask, crawling over to her side of the couch.
"I'm not crabby." She quickly replies.
"Uh, yeah you are. You just snapped at me when I mentioned Valentine's day."
"Because it's just another day to me, Arizona." She says, turning her attention back to the movie. All I could do was shake my head.
"It's not just another day, it's our first one as a couple," I tell her, standing up from the couch. "But you know what, just forget it." I stood up from the couch and went into the kitchen.
"Where are you going?" She asks.
"I'm hungry," I tell her.
"But you just ate."
"Yeah, well I'm hungry again." After grabbing myself a snack, I walked back to my spot on the couch and sat down.
"Pickles? Out of everything, you chose the one thing you hate."
"What?" I shrugged, "It sounded good." She just laughed and shook her head at me.
"So, you really want to celebrate Valentine's Day?" She asks me. I just shrugged and continued eating my snack.
"I need some peanut butter," I tell her, getting back up to go back to the kitchen.
"Peanut butter and pickles? That's just gross." She says as I walk back into the room.
"No, it's not, it's awesome. Here, try it." I tell her, offering her a bite. She scrunches her face up in disgust and pushes my hand away.
"No thanks. You keep it." She tells me. Turning her body to face me, she says, "It Valentine's Day is important to you, we will celebrate it." She leaned in and gave me a peck on the lips.
"Thank you," I tell her. "Now that I have someone to share it with, I love Valentine's Day."
"Well, actually you have two someone's." She tells me.
"Yeah, I do actually. You and Noah."
"Arizona," Callie says, trying to get me to wake up. I must have fallen asleep because when I opened my eyes, I see Callie sitting on the edge of the couch. It was Valentine's Day, and we were supposed to go out for dinner, but I've been too tired. "Hey, Sweetie. Why don't you go lay in our bed."
Letting out a tired yawn, I asked her, "What time is it?" When I realized Noah wasn't laying on my chest, I sat up really quick. "Where's Noah?"
"He's in his bouncy." She says, pointing to the bouncy seat that was on the floor by the couch. "and it's after 8." FUCK! I must have been sleeping for hours. When I laid down on the couch, it was only after 3.
"What? Were supposed to go out tonight, Callie. It's Valentine's Day."
"I know, but you looked tired, so I didn't have the heart to wake you."
"How long have you been home?"
"I've been home for a few hours." She tells me.
I only wanted to lay down for an hour since Noah hasn't been wanting to sleep much during the night, so I laid down with him on my chest.
"Callie..." I say, my voice breaking. I covered my face with my hands and started to cry. She knew how much it meant to me to celebrate our first Valentine's Day together, but instead, I decided to fall asleep for hours.
"It's okay. We can celebrate it tomorrow." She tells me. "Why don't go get some sleep in our bed and I will take care of Noah tonight."
When I went to get up from the couch, I suddenly felt the urge to throw up. Covering my mouth with my hand, I ran quickly to the bathroom, with Callie on my heels. Lifting the toilet seat, I bent over, emptying the contents of my stomach.
"You okay?" She asks, removing my hair from my face. I couldn't speak, because I knew more was coming, so I just shook my head. When I finally pulled myself together, I stood up to flush the toilet and made my way to the sink. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"MmmHmm.." I hum, rinsing my mouth out.
"How long have you been getting sick?" She asks.
"started this morning." I tell her, when I was able to speak. "Well I mean I didn't get sick, I just felt nauseous. This was the first time I ended up getting sick." She steps up closer to me, placing her hand on my forehead.
"You are a little warm. Come on, let's get you to bed."
"I can't, Callie. I need to take care of Noah." I tell her.
"No. I got him. He's not on the breast anymore, so I can take care of him." She tells me as she pulls the covers out so I can lay down. When I was all settled, she gave me a kiss on the forehead.
"Try to get some rest, babe. We will celebrate valentine's day another time." I just shook my head and rolled over to try and get some sleep.
Waking up out of a dead sleep, I got up quickly and made my way to the bathroom. Not again. After emptying my stomach, I just sat there. I couldn't move. I pulled my knees to my chest, and laid my head down.
"Hey, you okay?" I heard Callie's voice. I must have woken her up because when I looked up, she was standing in the doorway.
"I just got sick again," I tell her. "and I'm supposed to meet with Teddy today. She asked me to go to the Dr. with her since Tim is out of town."
"Well, I think you need to tell her you're not going to be able to make it. I think you're coming down with something, and with her being pregnant, you don't want to get her sick."
"Yeah. I guess. But what am I going to do about Noah? I need to take care of him."
"I will Call Doug, take a couple of days off. He can cover everything at the studio. But if you're not better in a couple of days, you're taking your happy ass to the Dr." She tells me. "You feel like throwing up again?"
"No," I tell her. I stood up, walked to the medicine cabinet to take some Pepto Bismol, then climbed back into bed.
*Sorry for a short chapter. But looks like they won't be celebrating their first Valentine's Day together. Uh Oh! Think it's the flu?*
