KINGDOM HEARTS: Edge Before End.
Chapter 1: Identität von das Geheimnis Göttin.
A young woman can be seen looking at a wristwatch on her left wrist, sighing to herself. "Sigh...honestly! when is that bonehead gonna show up already!? I mean, come-on!" says the woman until suddenly, she hears a nearby voice quickly approaching.
"OIII! DIIIVA! I'MMM HERRRE!" shouts out Myst, revealed to be the approaching voice. The young woman starts to blush upon seeing Myst seemingly having appeared out of nowhere. "!? O-OH Myst! you're-you're here! it's about time, y-you know!" says the woman, identified by the name of "Diva".
Myst runs up to Diva, standing right next to a fountain post. After catching his breath, Myst starts talking with Diva. "Ha...ha...ha, s-sorry Diva. I got lost with the track of time...I had a weird dream-" before Myst could finish, Diva interrupts him. "I don't care! when you said to make time, you should have been better prepared! triply and not doubly even!" says Diva, annoyed that Myst had arrived late; after making plans with her.
"Look, I'm sorry; really! I'm not trying to make excuses, honest! it's just-" regardless of whatever Myst could say to try and convince Diva, she would not listen to reason. Myst started to struggle with words...until, at the next moment; someone had appeared to his thankful aid. "Easy Diva, Lighten up. If Myst says he has a reason then he has a reason. There's no point chewing the guy out over what's done already...cut him some slack, ok?" says the someone in question...
"AH! Ide!" says Myst, calling the someone by the nickname "Ide". "...Hmph, Iden. How wonderful of you to show up as well...honestly. What the heck is up with both of you slackers!?" says Diva, calling Ide by his proper name of Iden. "Whoa, whoa. Hold up there...in no way am I a slacker in comparison to Mysty here, D. I've been helping out with the festival committee trying to sort and arrange things for the Midlight Festival. Please don't group me together with the troublemaker of the town here, that would be bad for my reputation with the ladies." says Iden, a small shine reflecting off his bright teeth.
"HEY! I resent that accusation Ide! how the heck am I the town troublemaker!?" says Myst in comical outrage. "For starters, you constantly get on the bad side of Ide's father; the mayor. Not only him but you've also had a few run ins with my father, the head of the Midlight Guard. Don't you ever understand that curiosity killed the cat for a good reason, Myst Arcane Secre!? ugh..." says Diva, holding her head in exasperation.
"Now, now D. Myst only causes trouble because he can't help being such a nice guy...am I right?" says Iden, making a thumbs up pose with his right hand towards Myst. "Uhh...yeah, I guess so. But Diva...the only reason I get in trouble with Ide's dad is because he's too restrictive. If I see something that's personally wrong with me, I can't help but intervene..." says Myst.
"No, I get that...helping out old ladies and the other similarly menial stuff aren't what bother me Myst. What REALLY bothers me...is that you keep going around and insist on fights with the border patrols!" says Diva, revealing that Myst has somewhat of a perchance for finding himself in trouble. "She's right Mysty, I know the border patrols answer directly to my father and aren't tied with Diva's dad, including his Midlight Guard as a whole but still..." says Iden, concerned for his friend's troublemaking antics...
"...It's not right, the border patrols should be helping everyone when the Midlight Guard can't. Instead, they slack off and claim that they refuse wasting time helping "lower class ruffians". I hate that kind of system! what's the difference between being higher or lower? there's none whatsoever!" says Myst, stating his opinion.
"I get that, honestly; I do Myst...but that's also why my dad is getting involved in talks with Ide's dad. Unless you yourself behave, the Midlight Guard will be called in to handle things and then it will really get really serious at that point. To ensure the worst outcome doesn't happen, me and Ide both offered making sure you are kept in check; at least until the Midlight Festival is over. Speaking of...we haven't yet gone over the remaining plans for it." says Diva, watching to switch the topic around whilst she still could.
"! Y-Yea...I guess we haven't." says Myst, wanting to humour Diva and go along with the flow...at least for the time being. "Phew, glad that got settled..." thinks Iden to himself, taking a breath of relief. "It's not like...I'm still okay with things. But...Diva and Ide...I don't want to cause trouble for them. Not on the eve of the festival...especially D. Since...well, I mean..." Myst thinks inside his mind whilst looking directly at Diva, believing to be an epitome of beauty...
"Myst...I get that your Heart goes wild when concerned for others. But sometimes, you truly must bottled those feelings. Not for my sake, or Ide's; or anyone else's...but your own feelings. I hope, during the festival...maybe we can..." says Diva within her mind, tightly clutching her Heart.
Diva soon notices Myst looking straight at her face and then turns away, slightly blushing in embarrassment. Myst wonders if the conversation only moments ago has made a small distance between him and Diva, if so...Myst comically starts despairing. Though just a little...he despairs the same as any man in his position would.
"...Coughs! ahem. Oookay, you guys...right. Since the festival begins tomorrow, why not tour around the stalls like we originally planned?" says Iden, creating an icebreaker opportunity. "! Y-Yeah! that's works fine by me, how about you Diva?" says Myst, quickly refocusing his poise. "S-Sure thing...! wait you two! I just remembered. I signed up for the grand Miko's dance tomorrow, so until 8:00 PM; I won't be avaliable for three entire hours when the festival starts at 5. Sorry..." says Diva with a sadness emerging from her brow, realising the fault she had made...
"N-No, no! that's alright Diva. Honest to goodness! though...would it be fine to come and watch your dance maybe? what time would it start?" says Myst, taking immediate initiative. "Smooth Myst, very smooth; I like it." Iden praises Myst for his reflexive thinking in asking Diva about the grand Miko's dance. "O-Oh, about that...it's at 7. You...both promise to come and watch me?" says Diva, hopeful that her friends will be on time to watch her performance.
"Yeah! of course! no way I'm gonna miss a lifetime performance with you in it, D." says Myst in a rather blunt manner...making Diva badly smile. Trying to hide said smile, she faces away from Myst before punching her forehead in "shame". Shocking Myst with comical horror...whilst Iden comments the following "Phew boy...talk about complicated. It's been 2 and a half years since they've both known each other...and they are still like this, after all of that time." says Iden, reflecting on the time his two friends have known one another for the longest amount...
After talking amongst themselves for a while, the three spend the rest of the morning hanging out until going into the afternoon hours of the day. Myst looks up at the veiled Midlight sky over his hometown...seeing how beautiful it looks when the sun sets within the sky at exactly the right timing.
"...You can't fault the brilliance of this view, it looks so picturesque." Diva raises her hand up into the air, trying to catch the setting sun inside her palm. "Yeah...you're not wrong there Diva. This town...it has so many mysteries and yet, no one seems to question anything about them. Why...are we so blessed? where does all of that rich and bountiful life that gives rise to our fruit and vegetables come from? the same of our materials. How can we process weapons into shapes we've never even seen before? is it...all a result of the divine blessing? and. The ancient landmarks, from the time of the original ancestors...why do they continue to still stand tall? unfazed by the changes we constantly make towards the surrounding areas? if you ask me. Midlight Town is more of a city then anything else...maybe, it's even the size of a kingdom. I don't get it..." says Myst, questioning certain aspects about his home's mysterious existence.
"Myst...don't tell me that's your opening speech to join the Midlight Guard; they wouldn't take you. After all the headaches you've given daddy, well...hehe." says Diva, starting to act all girly around Myst. "...What's with the girly-girl act? you more a tomboy then anything-OOF!" Myst earns a right smack in the face for that remark.
"...Don't you know? they say that the divine blessing of the shining aura over the town is actually an ocean, existing inside space." says Diva with her hands behind her legs, slowly walking away from Myst ahead of him. "H-Huh? you're...gak! pulling my leg." says Myst, recovering from Diva's suckerpunch.
"Nope, I'm not. It's believed the aura is a vast sea that lives in a space between spaces, a "rip" in the centre of space itself if you will. That's the most popular theory anyways, but digressing; all of the stuff that washes away upon the sea ends up falling down a current. Of which leads the only way towards here...at Midlight Town." says Diva, revealing what she knows about the shining aura hovering above the skies of her home.
"Huh...no kidding? really? so...basically...doesn't that just mean. Our town is one big water well that collects random stuff from whom knows where? man, talk about a real downer. I was expecting something more interesting and dynamic then that kind of revelation-ARGH!?" Myst earns another suckerpunch from Diva for his somewhat uncouth remark.
"Don't talk about your home like that, jerk. Remember...home is where the Heart is. Not everything in life is "what goes around, comes around" like the rest of the townsfolk believe. I for one believe in a higher fate...what about you, Myst? what do YOU believe in? ..." says Diva, stopping walking in order to hear Myst's answer.
After recovering from her 2nd suckerpunch, Myst then replies "...Well...I agree. I mean I agree that I don't believe in the town's philosophy the same as you Diva. But, about higher fates...I can't say I believe in those either. If anything...I guess...I believe in the wind." says Myst, surprising Diva.
"Huh? the wind?" says Diva, curious to know what Myst is talking about. "Yeah...or something like the wind. I don't know, when I speak about something as vague as that; maybe it's just the town's philosophy speaking out but in my own words. What goes around, comes around...certainly. Nothing beats the wind in that regard...except. The wind isn't just about going here or there, from one place onto the next. What I mean is, it isn't about just randomly moving in stride or something akin...GAH! OH HECK WITH IT! I don't know how to explain this without feeling contradicting!" Myst racks his brain over how to best explain his reasoning, in a way both Diva and especially Myst himself can properly understand...
Kneeling down, Myst tries to calm and level with himself...before Diva kneels next alongside him. "...I think I get it. It's...the "winds of your Heart", correct? doing what feels natural. Like...standing up to authority figures and helping out others like you have been doing thus far...that's what you mean. Saying, thinking and acting on things from being true towards yourself...or rather, being impulsive; in your case." says Diva, giving Myst a snide look that causes him to comically gulp.
A minute later though, her snide expression changes into a smile and she decides to stand up. "...Mind you, impulsiveness isn't exactly bad. It reflects your Heart and how fast it beats...as well as how much you care. The winds of your Heart indeed...hehe, now I can start to hopefully understand a little more about you Myst. I know we can work on our issues...if given time, we'll decide how best to advance forwards. I know what I plan to do...and, well...I'm hoping. M-Maybe...y-you will factor into my plans...that-that is, err..." says Diva, struggling to be honest with her feelings.
Seeing her internal struggle, Myst cannot help but laugh. Earning Diva's comical ire, Myst next jumps up from kneeling and says to Diva the following words "It's not easy, believe me; I know that much. But...if we follow our Hearts and the winds within them, guiding us...I'm sure we'll work together to make life the best it can be for the two of us. I'm sure of it...that's what I intend to believe, anyways." says Myst, causing Diva to become slightly astounded by his words.
Just then, Iden calls out; having disappeared earlier in order buy to food for him and the others. "HEEEY! FOOD'S READY!" shouts out Iden, calling his friends over. Hearing his call, Myst rushes on ahead. "Hey Diva! let's eat! I'm sure that will help-!" suddenly though...Myst has a small recollection of his experience at the Station of Awakening.
"Myst? Myst! you there?" Diva is able to call Myst back to reality, with the latter reassuring the former that everything is alright. It was just Myst himself becoming dazed from doing so much during the long day...or was it? Myst lastly says inside his head the closing words "W-What WAS that? some kind of...vision? n-no way." deciding to shrug it off, Myst walks side by side with Diva before running on ahead of her towards where Iden is standing waiting for the pair.
...Elsewhere...
A group of 5 black coated individuals, the same as Xander could be seen. Watching a screen monitor...they watch recordings of another young man, similar in build to Myst. Having brown spiky hair, blue eyes...and wielding the very same type of Keyblade Myst himself had acquired from his trial at the Station of Awakening!
