Anonymous prompt: Could you write something where Kensi and Deeks tell their moms or the team that Kensi's pregnant please
"Ok, so are you guys going to tell us why you specifically invited all of us here on a Saturday night?" Nell asked as Deeks filled everyone's glasses with scotch. Maybe it wasn't quite up to Hetty's standards, but based on the label alone it was pretty high end stuff.
"Not that we aren't grateful for the free alcohol," Eric added hastily and Nell nodded before continuing.
"Of course, we are very grateful for the drinks, as always. But usually you just make a general announcement these days or we just show up." Deeks smirked at her, but just finished pouring drinks before he returned to Kensi's side.
In all they'd gathered the team, including Hetty, and their moms and closed the Squid and Dagger a couple hours early. Everyone had consumed a few drinks of their choice-the latest concoction Deeks had whipped up in Callen's case.
"Well, since you mention it, Kensi and I did have something we wanted to tell you-"
"Oh my god, someone's dying, aren't they?" Roberta said, interrupting the side conversation she'd been having with Julia and Hetty. "That's why you broke out the good stuff. Oh lord, I bet you picked it up when you were pn one of those suicide missions."
"Mom, no one's dying," Deeks assured her as Julia put a calming hand on her shoulder. "Do you really think we'd throw a party if someone was sick?"
"Well how the hell do I know? You get killed practically every day and I'd never know it by the way you act when I see you." Seeing that Deeks was about to respond, Kensi put a gentle, yet restraining hand on his arm and addressed her instead.
"Roberta, everything is perfectly fine. No one is hurt, no one is dying. And for the record, no one has been on a suicide mission." Turning her head towards Deeks, she muttered, "Why did we think this was a good idea?"
"I think we all knew this was coming for a while," Sam said solemnly and Deeks squinted at him.
"Really? What exactly do you think is going on?"
"You two are announcing your resignation from NCIS." Beside him, Callen smiled into his beer. Everyone else began talking again, either expressing outrage that he hadn't been given more warning or insisting that they'd known it was coming.
Deeks cleared his throat noisily, somehow managing to be heard over all the ruckus.
"Actually, that's not it at all." Sharing a look with Kensi, he nodded and she linked her fingers with his.
"We asked you to come here because we wanted to tell you that we're pregnant," she said, unable to stop herself from grinning as she pushed her glass to the center of the bar. "It's why I haven't been drinking."
Callen was the first to step forward and give them each a brief hug.
"Congrats."
"You don't seem all that surprised," Sam noticed with a suspicious look while Eric, Nell and Julia each took turns hugging Kensi and Deeks. Callen shrugged and took another gulp of his oyster beer. Or was it durian this time?
"I'm not." At Sam's outraged expression, he added, "You keep forgetting that I live here now. I get to hear all kinds of things, even when I don't want to."
"Not to mention the fact that Kensi has taken two sick days in the last six weeks after years of never using any," Hetty pointed out, apparently as unsurprised as Callen.
"Well, I see where we rate on the totem pole," Roberta said with a shake of her head as she gestured between herself and Julia. "You'd think your own mothers would be the first to know. But no, we have to wait and find out with everyone else."
"Oh my god, mom," Deeks muttered as she turned to Sam who seemed to equally offended.
"I don't know what you're complaining about," Kensi said with a roll of her eyes. "At least you still get to drink." He downed the rest of his scotch, making a face.
"True."
"How do you feel about crocheted baby clothes?" Nell asked with a hopeful smile. Kensi managed to not look too horrified and reached for her glass again.
"One wouldn't hurt too much, right?"
Thanks for the prompt!
A/N: I have written a lot of fics on this general theme, so hopefully it isn't too bad.
