Quadrant~ 4
Adrenaline pumps through my veins as Abram and I come to a stop beside a giant stone wall. My heart thunders in my chest, so loud I'm surprised Abram can't hear it. My breaths come in short gasps, my lungs burning from the long sprint. The pain kinda feels nice, almost like an old friend- but that's not how I can afford to think now. Death hangs in the air, no matter if I refuse to acknowledge it's presence, it's here.
As my heart rate starts to slow down and my breath starts to return back to normal, I take a look around at my surroundings. This first wall we've found that isn't made of sheer ice. I can't help but stare in awe at the marbled rock before turning to the boy next to me. His face a light shade of red from our long sprint away from the career, Kai. Kai had rounded the corner next to us and if he'd gone one more length of maze he'd have run into our camp.
"He was right there." Abram gasps, holding his hand over his mouth, trying to stifle a laugh.
"I really thought he was gonna see us, thank god someone shouted his name"
"Yeah, I for sure thought we were dead, but I mean there's two of us. We probably could have taken out the career." he says, trying to act confident but failing, letting a small waver work itself into his words.
"Maybe. I mean we do have trap materials." I suggest, sliding off the backpack I had thrown on my shoulder earlier. We had hastily grabbed up everything and took off after Kai had come so close to our camp.
"We could? Ohhh." He says.
"We got everything to set up a trap." I say, and Abram pauses for a minute, tilting his head towards the sky. He thinks deeply for a second, his light eyes clouded in concentration. I can't help but sigh and slightly roll my eyes as I start to take out the materials from the bag I was carrying.
"We do, but there was no canon. All four careers are out there, let's aim for them. But if any of the other alliances fall in, that's also great."
"Cool, but we kinda skipped the trap setting station during training so… crap."
"Meh, how hard can a trap be to set up?"
"You probably just jinxed us." I laugh, as he kneels down, slinging off his own bag.
"Oh shut it."
"I'm just saying the facts thank you very much."
"Whatever," he sighs, unzipping the medium sized jet-black backpack. He takes out a light green tarp and places it between us as I pull out some grey paracord.
"How are we even gonna set this up?" I ask, setting the paracord on top of the tarp.
"We could dig a hole and place a net with ashes covering it on top?" He suggests.
"I don't know, won't that take forever? And besides we don't have a shovel."
"But it's not ground, there's nothing below us but ashes."
"What are the ashes on? Idiot." I lightly chuckle, pulling out a small bundle of netting and placing it beside the paracord. Abram lets out a sigh as he smacks his forehead with his palm.
"No duh, but the ground shouldn't be for at least ten feet."
"But what if it's not, you have literally no clue how far down these ashes go." I say, shooting him a small smile as he places a pouch of zip ties down beside the rest of the trap materials. He gives me a goofy grin back and I can't help but let out a small giggle.
"Come on, just give this a try. If we hit ground, we hit ground. Not much we can do about that, but if we don't then we got ourselves a nice trap hole."
"I guess so, but that's not logical, at all. This could very waste our time. And trap hole? I don't think that's what it's called." I reply.
"Since when were you logical." He quips, punching my shoulder lightly.
"Since we got into the goddamn arena." I say, shaking my head.
"That's far, but come on, just trust me."
"Fine but if this doesn't work, it's your fault."
"Cools." Abram smiles, "where should we set up?"
"Honestly we can really set up anywhere."
"Right here work?" he asks.
"Whatever." I sigh.

"You ready?" I whisper to Elizabeth as Sage grabs the small pouch of berry juice we had made about an hour ago.
"Of course." She smiles, tucking her two small daggers back into the wire of her bra.
"Why do I have to be the dead one?" I lightheartedly complain. "Why can't Sage do it?"
"You just do, I don't know." Elizabeth chuckles and Sage shoots her a sharp sigh.
"You're the one who said you wanted to be the 'dead' one." Sage says.
"Yes, I know." I sigh, "but it's never gonna come off, is it?"
"Honestly, probably not, these berries are too dark." Elizabeth chuckles.
"Cel you're one-hundred percent sure these aren't poisonous, right?" Sage asks and I sigh, if I know one thing, it's plants. Sage should know this by now. I shoot a smile their way and Sage just stares at me, eyes wide, still waiting for an answer. "Of course they're not poisonous." I giggle.
"Good." Sage sighs.
"Cel's gonna have purple skin though." Elizabeth chimes in, not helping the situation in any way.
"Elizabeth." Sage sighs, rolling their eyes. Sage's small braids fall lightly to their shoulders, swinging back and forth as they speak. How were they gonna keep them neat and perfect while in the arena? They'd probably get ruined but that didn't seem to bother Sage one bit. Hair's one thing you can't worry about in the arena, we're fighting for our lives for crying out loud.
"Yes?" she asks, her green eyes fluttering under the bright stage lights.
"Nevermind." Sage lightly laughs, their voice soft and timid.
"I'm just stating the facts." Elizabeth shrugs, a shy smile plants itself on her pink lips.
"Whatever." Sage says, "ready to get this show on the road?"
"We're not a show nor do we have a road." Elizabeth quipps sarcastically.
"You- mhmm." Sage stops and just sighs, "I'm not doing this with you."
"No you." Elizabeth says and I can't help but let out a small giggle. Sage rolls their eyes at both of us, lightly handing me the pouch of berry juice. I open the pouch and lift it to my nose. I take a small sniff and a deep earthy aroma fills my nose, softly tingling my senses. The smell brings me back to Eleven, back to my siblings. I can't help but smile at the thought of my family back home, picturing their heartwarming smiles. But I look over at Elizabeth and gravely wipe the expression off my face, we're in the games, this isn't a time for fantasies.
Sage nods at me and I look at the dark juice. We had managed to collect umbra facere berries earlier this morning. It took all morning to squeeze the berries, and somehow managed to stain all three of our hands. Now I have to put the juice on my body, lucky me. The berry juice has the same color and conquency of blood, so it works perfectly, it's just gonna stain.
"Ready?" Sage asks me and I nod my head.
The plan was simple. Sage is the fastest runner, despite their small size, would run out. Making sure to memorize the exact way they'd come. They'd try to find someone without an alliance or a group of two people. They'd get their attention and make the person or people chase them. Sage is going to bring the person or pair towards me and Elizabeth. This is where the fake blood comes in. I'm going to be laying on the ground with a 'wound', made from the berry juice. Seeing my bloody body would distract them for just the right amount of time for Elizabeth to aim and throw her knives into their back or backs. Elizabeth is absolutely stunning with throwing knives so she'd undoubtedly do great. Throwing knives are Elizabeth's best weapon, and she only ever missed once during training. The rest of her throws went straight into the dummy's chest or head, which kinda scares me but at the same time feels exhilarating.
Sydney was originally the runner but with him… I swallow fiercely, trying to remove the giant lump resting in my throat. But with him… even thinking about Syd made my chest ache and my lungs burn. He died because of me. I'm the reason he's not here, if I hadn't sprained my ankle-
"Cel!" Elizabeth whispers harshly, snapping me back into reality.
"Yes?"
"It's time," Sage says, giving me a stiff yet small nod.
"Alright, you go, Elizabeth can help me stain my hoodie."
"Yep." Elizabeth nods, gently taking the pouch from my hand.
Onyx Forti, Day 2

Quadrent~ Cornucopia
"What's been up with you all morning?" I whisper, grabbing the Angel's arm, forcing the girl to face me. She'd been avoiding me all day, or at least since Misty and I had gotten back from hunting. She sighs and tries unsuccessfully to yank her arm from my grip.
"I'm sorry I've been short with you, you're not the one who almost just died." She mumbles back, trying again to rip her arm from my grip, this time succeeding. She shoots me a glare and rolls her light blue eyes.
"Why'd they even attack you two anyway, do they have a death wish?" I ask.
"Me. They attacked me, Kai wasn't there." She whispers, glancing over at Kai and Misty who are digging through the backpacks to see if they could find some sort of clean and potable water.
"You? But you and Kai were there together?"
"He left to go and hunt for other tribute's saying he didn't." She quietly lifts her hands up to the sky and makes air quotes in the smoky air, "'like missing the action'."
"What in the what? Why? That's so dangerous."
"I tried to tell him but he wouldn't listen." Angel mumbles.
"Typical career." I sigh, "I don't trust either of them."
"They're gonna kill us eventually. But we have to stay, it's the only way to get sponsor gifts." She whispers.
"I don't think so, we just gotta get away from them."
"Onyx, you know that won't work. We have to stay as a group, it's the best for our survival. We're just have to stay on our toes."
"But it can, all we have to do is stay together." I hush under my breath.
"What if we get split up though? I don't think it's our best option to run away."
"Do you wanna die, because staying with them is most certainly gonna lead to it."
"No I don't want to die, you bitch." She lightly sighs, taking a light blue hair tie from around her wrist and tying her blonde hair back behind her head. It rests in a low ponytail and swishes as she turns back to me.
"Then, we have to go."
"But we'll lose sponsors."
"Not necessarily." I reason.
"Yes necessarily," she says, "besides, running away is a good option but just later in the game, when there's less tributes."
I sigh, "that's a very good way to die, I'm running away tonight. Come if you want, but if you don't that's alright, have fun dying." I say softly before turning away from the girl to make my way over to Misty and Kai. Who both smile at me as I reach them.
"Find any?" I ask.
"Two empty canteens but no water."
"Are they gonna make us die of dehydration before we even get the chance to kill each other?" I laugh but neither Kai or Misty find my joke very funny. They just exchange sighs before Kai grabs his spear off the ground.
"When are we going out to hunt next?" Kai asks.
"I don't really know, should we stay as a unit or what we did earlier?" Misty says, glancing at Angel as she makes her way over to us, wielding a crossbow lightly in her arms.
"I say stay as a unit." Angel replies.
"But then our supplies would be left unguarded." Kai reasons.
"I agree with Angel." I say, "we can't risk another attack."
"I don't know." Misty replies.
"Let's just stick together I guess." Kai sighs.
"Alright then but before we go back out I want to grab a little bit of something to eat." Misty says. She sets down the empty canteen and digs through the closest backpack.
"Can I have a little bit? Please." I ask and she tosses me a small pouch of jerky. I take out three pieces of dried meat before handing it back to the girl.
"You two already got breakfast, right?" I ask Angel and Kai.
"Yeah." Angel nods.
Misty smiles before opening the pack I had handed her, taking out a few strips of meat for herself. She pops a piece into her mouth, chewing quickly. I look over at Angel, who bares a small smile due to the fact we're going as a group. Less chances for one of us to get attached.
"Ready?" Misty asks as she finishes up her last piece.
"Let's do this thing." I chuckle. It's not like I want to go hunting, but it's better than being left behind. Besides, I'll only have to put up with this for the rest of today before I can sneak away.
I have everything planned, I'd sneak away on my watch tonight. My original plan was to leave last night but Kai offered to take watch before I could even think to volunteer. The only problem is Angel. I want her to come with me but she's being stubborn as fuck, so I'm gonna have to leave her. Staying with the rest of the careers could very much mean death, and I don't wanna die. I have to show my parents I can actually do something right for once and death isn't the way to do that.
"I got my crossbow and a sword in my belt." Angel says, her voice snapping me back to reality.
"Sounds good," I reply. "Let me grab my sword."
Allegro June, Day 2

"You feeling a bit better?" I ask Kinnik as he goes through our backpacks for the third time today.
"Yeah, I guess." He shrugs, his back still turned away from me.
"What are you looking for anyway?" I ask softly.
"Water, we have no water."
"Yeah I know, we've gone through the backpacks already."
"Yes." He sighs, still digging in the bag. "We have no water, we're gonna die."
"Don't say that, it's only day two."
"God Al, yes but soon it'll be day four and we'll die from dehydration." He snaps.
"We'll try and steal some from the careers again." I reason as he zips up the bag and throws it to the side. Kinnik's been extremely agitated while we've been in the arena, it's obvious he wasn't ready for any of this. But really was anyone?
"That's a very good way to die, we were lucky last time." He says, pacing back and forth as he runs his fingers through his hair.
"Stop pacing." I sigh softly.
"Whatever." He says, "at least one of us is gonna die in the end."
"Kinnik…"
"What?" he snaps, "you know it's true."
"Yes, calm down, please." I say, "it's not gonna be you, I'm gonna make sure of that."
"Allegro, I told you, you can't die for me. I don't deserve that."
"But you do." I reply and Kinnik turns back to face me. His light emerald eyes catching a shimmer from the bright lights beaming down on us. His shy smile sends a swarm of butterflies into my stomach and I can't help but stare at the boy's stunning features.
His dark hair has a sheen like fine hardwood. But I suppose that comparison isn't entirely fair. Hardwood doesn't swish gently like his hair does, swaying with the words he speaks. A shiny varnish catches merely light around it, but the depths of his deep chestnut brown reflected all the radiance of his smile. A smile that instantly makes everything else disappear into oblivion.
"No I don't, you know that."
"Kinnik Verdugo, I'm going to do all in my power to not let you die. Whether you lie to yourself and tell yourself you don't deserve it or not." I say simply.
"Al you can't though." He replies, his lip quivering for a split second before he bites it to keep from showing emotion. Oddly his contorted expression is seriously fucking adorable.
"But I can." I chuckle, tossing up the small knife we had gotten in one of the backpacks, and catching it with the opposite hand.
"Nope." He laughs, "I won't let you."
"Oh, is that a challenge?"
"Isn't everything a challenge with you?"
"That's a fair point." I sigh laughing at the small smile creeping up his cracked and dry lips.
"I make fair points obviously." He says.
"Obviously." I chuckle, glad I put a smile on my ally's face. I'm not exactly sure where we stood on the friends or maybe even couple spectrum. The only thing I do know is that I like this boy. The cute way he closes his eyes when he's concentrating hard, how he scrunches up his freckled nose when he laughs or how he'll sometimes shoot me this small side smile when he's really happy about something.
Yesterday he wasn't in a very good mood but last night he got a good amount of sleep so I hope he feels better. I didn't want to tell Kinnik but I know Liz and I know how revengeful she is. I sigh, Liz right now is probably practically boiling with rage, Kinnik having killed her ally. She's definitely one to hold a grudge, and is very deadly when she's angry. I just have to make sure to keep Kinnik away from her.
"You good?" he asks, his voice bringing me back to reality. He cocks his head slightly to the left, concern pressing lightly in his deep eyes.
"Oh nothing." I sign.
"No, Al, what's wrong. Your face suddenly went from smiling to completely sad, you don't hide your emotions well." He laughs.
"It's nothing." I ask, trying not to let my tan face turn a light of pink.
"It's not nothing, what the fuck?"
"Liz's gonna be after us." I blurt out, my hand flying to cover my mouth.
"Oh yeah, I know. I killed Jocylin, of course she'll be after me." He says, "dude, I've seen her in training."
"That makes a lot of sense but yeah, she's gonna be after us."
"We just got to stay one step ahead of her."
"Of course." I nod, taking the small knife I held and slipping it into my belt.
Elizabeth Oakseed, Day 2:
Time- 10:46 PM
Quadrant~ 3
"Elizabeth!" I hear a high-pitched voice scream. I whip around, each hand equipped with a small dagger.
"Sage?" I shout back, my voice wavering. When there's no answer, I can't help but let out a gasp. I glance back at Cel, berry juice still dripping from her stomach 'wound'. Her breaths coming in short gasps, I turn away from her and to the left. I lost Syd already, I'm not losing Sage. "Sage!" I scream again, motioning at Cel to stay put. She looks hesitant for a second but when I tear off to the left, she stays put. I sprint through the ice maze, turning this way and that. Trying to remember exactly which way Sage had gone.
"Elizabeth!" Sage screams again, this time a painful cry.
I throw myself to the right, twisting this way and that. I have to find them. I knock my shoulder against the wall and pain shoots up my body. But I drown it out, this is no time for distractions. My heart pounds in my chest as I sprint to the right. I let out a small gasp as I turn the corner and come face-to-face with the career from One.
"Elizabeth." Sage cries, clutching their stomach. Onyx's eyes darken and they narrow them at me. "You have to go."
"Please, hang on." I cry out to Sage as Onyx launches their sword towards me. I jump quickly to the left to dodge the hit. I sidestep, sliding my knife in between my knuckles in the process. I whip back to face Onyx and thrust my fist forward, willing it to make contact with their face. They easily grab my arm and twist, forcing me to flip to the right. I let out a small grunt as my feet fumble and I fall heavily to the ground. Onyx just raises their eyebrow at my clumsiness and turns back to Sage. Their sword swinging lightly in their right hand.
"I'm sorry it's come to this." Onyx sighs, sliding their sword forward but right as the grey metal makes slight contact with Sage's skin, a small dagger flies through the air. It sinks deep into Onyx's back. They let out a distortanted growl of agony, their hands flying to the wound. They run their hands along the knife before ripping it out of their flesh. Blood starts to drip from the wound but Onyx ignores it, letting it pool beneath their feet.
They turn back to face me, letting out a low growl as anger infects their once soft light blue eyes. I can see the fire build up in their soul as they charge towards me. Blood flings onto their face but they keep running, not caring. At the last moment I slide to the right, letting them run, full force into the wall behind me. Onyx lets out a cry of pain as their body slams against the light blue ice. They stumble backwards, clutching their forehead. "You bitch." Onyx grunts.
"Don't touch Sage." I shout, clutching the worn leather handle of the small knife in my hand. I try not to notice how much my hand is shaking.
"I'm sorry, but it's called the hunger games for a reason." They snarl, whipping around to face me, grabbing my ankle in the process. They hold tight to my ankle and jab my kneecap inwards with the hilt of their sword. I let out a cry of pain, shaking my ankle free from their grasp. Onyx quickly springs back onto their feet, shooting me a murderous glare. They hold their weapon confidently in their right hand, not shaking like mine.
Onyx lets out a sigh, circling around me. I turn slowly, not taking my eyes away from their deep bloodshot ones. They glance quickly to right and I instantly move to the left, predicting their attack. Sure enough Onyx flings their sword to the right, the most foreseeable move yet. They let out a gasp, not expecting me to dart out of reach of their blade.
Quickly I use the moment of confusion to my advantage. I let out a small cry of range and throw my second danger forward. This one finds it's home in the flesh of Onyx's chest. They let out a light gasp, their eyes wide. Onyx's mouth hangs open as they look toward the handle that is now covered in a dark red liquid. Onyx tightly grabs the knife and rips the second knife out of their chest cavity.
They let out a cry of agony, pain flooding into their eyes. I look down towards the ground, I can't watch them. Onyx lets out another scream and I turn to Sage. Sage's eyes go wide as they look from Onyx to myself. I tuck a small stand of my hair behind my ear and start to make my way to where my first knife lay abandoned in the ashes.
I reach forward and grab the bloody weapon. I let out a soft croak as I turn and make my way to the career. Pain obviously seeping through their veins as their breaths came in wispy light breaths. I hold the knife, blood dripping steadily down my arm. A small gasp escapes Sage's mouth as I lift the knife over the bloody body of the career.
Plunging the knife into their chest, I let out a growl. Onyx's body stills and Sage's eyes fill with fear. My hands shake fiercely as I rip the knife from Onyx's soft flesh. A loud cannon booms in my ears and Sage whimpers. Their eyes shift from the dead career to me, the bloody knife still in my hand.
"How bad are your wounds?" I ask in an emotionless tone.
"They hurt, a lot." Sage winches, trying to roll over. Their dark hoodie stained with a sharp and tangy iron scent.
"Come on, we've got to find something back at camp to help you." I say, scooping up Sage in my arms. I try not to let out a grunt at how heavy they are but I hold on tight. I turn and make my way back to where Cel was undoubtedly awaiting our arrival.
Liz Starr, Day 2:
Time: 11:01 PM
Quadrant~ 1
I stare up at the sky as the career from One's face starts to fade. Their light blonde hair curling around their ears as they stared defiantly towards the camera. They hold their pale hands in their coat pockets. A small smile dots Onyx's features, reflecting the camera's light. Determination clings to their eyes, a sparkling shimmer of hope. One that was diminished by a fierce canon roar about an hour ago. How'd they die?
"Please tell me the careers fell apart." I whisper into the wind. Hopefully they did, that's my greatest chance of survival. Breaking the careers, that was all I had to do. That, and finding Kinnik. I let out a soft laugh and a tight smirk. I must kill him, make him pay for what he did to my ally. My friend. The only one I could actually talk to. How easily he took her life. I'll make him wish he never laid a hand on her, make him plead and beg for me to spare his life. My smirk widens as the thought of torturing him.
He'll die in pain, that's the only thing I'm sure of. Bitter revenge will slip off my lips, etching itself into his skin. I'll make him feel the pain, the pain that beats through my heart every time I think of the small girl from Three. She was my first friend and for her just to disappear, he will undoubtedly pay. Anger boils beneath my skin, sending sharp dagger-like stabs through my chest.
Suddenly a small beeping sound pierces and evades my ears. Overriding the pain in my chest, taking over my senses. I stumble to my feet and whip around, eyes scanning the torch-lit darkness for the source of the sound. I have no weapon but I ready myself for an attack, any tiredness I felt earlier was gone now. Adrenaline pumps through my veins. My heart pounds in my throat, but I ignore it, I can't let anything distract me. I slowly turn my body in a circle, searching once again for the source of the beeping.
A gasp escapes my mouth as I spot the small parachute floating towards me. It's light grey outer shell detailed with dark red flames. I lift my hands to the sky and catch the small box. It's about the size of both of my hands but extremely heavy. In the dim light I can see the small dark line that runs the length of the middle, separating the box into two halves.
I tilt the box sideways and twist apart the sides. Out falls 3 pieces of a wooden handle, a crescent blade and a small slip of paper. I instantly pick up the thin blade, lightly running my fingers over the details forged deep in the blade. Depicted snowflakes swirl and dance across the metal itself.
"What the fuck?" I ask myself, setting down the blade and picking up wooden pieces. Most certainly a handle of sorts, I'm guessing an axe from the curved blade. The pieces suddenly start to shake in my hands and I quickly drop them, eyes wide. If my mentor sent me a cursed axe, I swear. The wooden pieces continue to shake, moving faster and faster until they flung themselves together.
My guess would be from magnetic pieces but seriously what the fuck is wrong with Thomasina? Why couldn't she have sponsored a normal axe, like Vasilius did for his tribute last year. Why did she have to send me this horrid contraption. I glance down at the pieces that now have formed a long pine handle. Of course, I could see where they had joined so it isn't that strange but still.
I let out a gasp as the metal blade starts to vibrate as well. It seems to shake in place, gaining momentum, before flinging itself at the handle. The back of the blade lodges deep in the handle. My eyes go wide as the axe forms right before my eyes. I lightly trace the grain of the wooden pine handle, not quite believing this just came together. My lips fall into a small smile as I lift the weapon my eyes. The blade sheens under the dim torchlight.
"Woah," I gasp, swinging the axe to and fro with my left hand. How nice it felt to hold a weapon again. "Wait," I whisper, "I can use this to kill Kinnik." A wide smile spreads across my face as I imagine my new axe embedded in the boy's stomach.

A/N: Annnnd we're back with another chapter shaboom. Technically I know Lily's PoV is in the morning time, it just overlaid with Kai's, so I had to make it early. Well, this chapter took an extra minute to write because everytime I sat down to write I felt like crap and was extremely unmotivated. Then last night blared my music and just wrote out a bunch. It worked cause here we are with Day 2! Can you believe we're already on Day 2? Cause I can't.
So I'm editing this in the morning (edit- I was editing this morning but stopped to work on homework so it's afternoon now) but later, sometime today there will be *something* posted. It's gonna be pretty cool but more on that later, just a small heads up. So yeah, that's really it- have a good day/night/afternoon.
Bye for now,
Marie
