Robby pov
We move frantically and begin to pack. I rush into Octavia and I's tent and see her packing. She looks terrified.
"Think about all those sunsets we'll get to see when we make it to Luna's clan" I say trying to reassure her.
"Yeah, I guess we get our happy ending after all," Octavia says grinning widely at me.
"Bellamy told me to get people ready to leave while he and Clarke discussed the plan. You seem worried is everything okay?" I ask concerned.
She looks down for a second, but her eyes begin to get sad. Before I know it she hugs me.
"Robby, I spent two days thinking you were dead. I just didn't know what to think or how to feel. I just ... I didn't know," Octavia says with a broken voice, her eyes tearing up.
I pull her in for a long hug.
"Octavia," I whisper soothingly while stroking her hair.
"All I care about is that your safe and happy. We're leaving to go live somewhere safe. No more grounders coming for us. No more floating people. Just us, and our friends," I say softly.
"Yeah," she whispers and sniffles.
I pack my sword and a few ration packs and get everyone moving. I see some guy and Finn carrying Raven on stretcher. I see Bellamy looking around as everyone starts to leave.
"Hang on I'll be right back," I say to Octavia and jog up to Bellamy and Clarke. Bellamy looks discouraged.
"You did good here Bellamy," Clarke says softly.
"I agree. You inspire people Bellamy and we're gonna need that on our journey to the ocean," I say clapping him on the shoulder.
"18 dead," he says sadly.
"82 alive," Clarke says in an encouraging tone
"82 people you kept alive. You did good," I say confidently pointing at Bellamy.
He nods, but I can tell his still in a depressed mood. He extinguishes the fire, tosses the bucket away in a badass manner that movies would usually slow mo, and we walk away from camp and don't look back. Octavia and I stick to the front because I have the map. I told Octavia to stay in the middle because it's safer, but she insisted that she walk with me. I suggested that Bellamy watch the back so no one loses us and told Clarke to watch Raven. Bellamy and I also made sure we had gunners surrounding our group on all sides. We walk for quite some time.
"You know the first thing I'm gonna do when I get to the beach?" Miller says sounding excited.
"No. What?" Jasper asks.
"I want to go surfing," Miller says with enthusiasm.
"Quiet. Keep your eyes open," Jasper says in a serious tone.
I can tell he's still sad about Monty. I want to say something to help him feel better, but I don't know what to say. Monty was one of my good friends and I feel terrible that we're probably leaving him to die.
"No more woods, a view of the ocean. No more damn trees, just pale blue water," some guy says.
I see something in the trees and stick my arm out to stop the crowd.
"Shhh. Don't. Move," I whisper slowly.
"What is it?" Jasper asks afraid.
"I don't see anything," Jasper says looking around.
I squint to get a better view, but I can't see. I can hear something whizzing through the air. Before I do anything, an object flies right past me, clipping my ear and going straight into the head of the guy behind me. He falls dead instantly. My hands shoot up to my bleeding ear. It's a small cut, but it stings like a bitch. People start gasping and muttering.
"GROOOUUUUNDEERS!" Jasper yells.
"EVERYONE GET BACK TO CAMP NOW!" I yell as loud as my lungs allow.
People panic and scream as we chaotically run back in the direction of camp. I draw my sword and Octavia does the same. Once we get to the gate, I see Bellamy standing beside the door yelling at people to move inside.
"Close the gate!" I yell.
Miller and Monroe move to close the gate.
"Gunners on your posts now!" I yell motioning for the scrambling people to run.
"Lincoln said the scouts would be the first to arrive," Clarke says to Octavia and I.
"Well if it's just scouts then we can fight our way out. It's what Lincoln would do. Right Robby?" Octavia says to me.
"Even if he would, he's smart enough to know that it's suicide. Even if we get past the scouts the rest will find us eventually. Then we'll be defenseless," I say disagreeing with Octavia.
"We're done doing what that grounder would do. We tried it and now Drew is dead. You wanna be next?!" Bellamy asks Octavia harshly.
"That grounder saved our lives! That grounder is our friend and wants to help us! However, leaving is suicide and our best bet is to get everyone ready and to get gunners to their posts!" I say to Bellamy.
"I agree with Octavia. For all we know there's one scout out there," Finn says.
"One scout with insanely good aim," Jasper says fearfully.
"Clarke, we can still do this," Octavia says hoping Clarke will listen.
"Looking at your princess. What's it gonna be?" Bellamy asks Clarke.
I shake my head.
"We can either run and get picked off out in the open, or we stand and fight back," Bellamy says to Clarke.
Clarke jumps down and Finn tries to say something. Clarke looks to disagree with him. She turns to Bellamy and I and says "looks like y'all got your fight."
"Okay then—" Bellamy starts to say, but I hold up my arm to stop him from talking.
People are looking anxious, terrified, and some even determined. It's time for my motivational speech.
"Alright, I know y'all are scared! However, we can use that fear to our advantage! Turn it into anger toward those who have slaughtered our friends! our brothers! Our sisters! This is what we've been preparing for since the moment we landed!" I begin to announce to everyone who is listening intently.
"A great friend once told me that fear is only a problem if you let it stop you!" I say smiling encouragingly at Finn.
"Well we didn't let it stop us on the ark! And we sure as hell aren't gonna let it stop us now!" I say as people cheer.
"Think about it! Your badass! Your don't give a shit! Your fighters! We do whatever it takes to make damn sure we see tomorrow! We do whatever it takes to WIN!" I yell as encouragingly as possible.
Everyone starts chewing loudly and cocking their rifles. They're fired up now and so am I.
"Robby's right! Lets show em!" Miller says raising his gun in the air.
People cheer at his words and I clap Miller on the shoulder.
"Alright, lets go kick the shit out of everybody!" I say and everyone cheers even louder.
I look at Bellamy who is nodding his head and smiling. However, the one person who isn't approving is Octavia which breaks my heart.
"Kill them before they kill us! Gunners, to your posts! Use the tunnels to get in and out! For now, the gate stays closed!" Bellamy yells and people scramble to their posts.
I see Octavia storming toward one of the posts. I run to catch up to her. She's in the middle of a conversation with Bellamy and she draws her sword and he looks at it in disapproval.
"Octavia, wait!" I say grabbing her arm.
She turns around and gives me a dirty look.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"Nice speech, considering we're about to slaughter Lincoln's people," she says bitterly.
Lincoln is a brother to me, but my insecurity wins.
"O, why do you care so much about Lincoln?! You always agree with him over me. Is there something I don't know about?" I say smugly.
"Are you serious?! I've told you a thousand times I'm not into him! He's our friend! Y'all said y'all were brothers! Robby, I will always love you and only you so don't be so insecure!" She says smiling slightly during her last sentence.
"Then what's with the dirty look?" I ask completely confused.
"I'm sick of Bellamy thinking Lincoln is just some savage!" Octavia says.
"He's not. Bellamy just doesn't know Lincoln like we do," I say.
"Anyway, ready to go kick the shit out of everyone?" Octavia says arching her brow and half smiling.
"Hell yeah," I say and we clink our swords together.
"Stay close to the gunners. I can't lose you," I say to her.
"Come with me," she says.
"I'll meet you later. I need to go with Bellamy and Clarke to rehash the battle strategy," I say.
I give her a long kiss before we go our separate ways.
