Anonymous prompt: Could u do a fanfic about Mosley where she apologizes to everyone, especially Deeks.
"You're just lucky Kensi carted your butt all over the desert," Sam said with lazy grin in Deeks' direction. He was still a little high on pain meds so they were dealing with a particularly mellow version of Sam Hanna.
It was two days since they'd arrived at the hospital and everyone had improved enough for a group visit. The nursing staff hadn't exactly loved the idea, but something about Kensi's pleading expression (and possibly her dogged persistence) had convinced them. Deeks was in a wheel chair and limited to a total of 45 minutes before he needed to be back in his room.
Callen, who was still by far the worse, seemed to enjoy the company, but Kensi could see that both he and Deeks were beginning to lag a little.
"Oh, believe me, I have no doubts about how lucky I am," Deeks assures them, glancing up at Kensi with a grateful smile. She leaned down and kissed the top of his head.
"I'd do it all over again," she said honestly, holding back a shudder at the thought. They were safe though and in a few weeks they all would be out of here and well on the road to recovery.
"I think we're all pretty lucky right now," Callen commented. Kensi reached for Deeks' hand and they were all quiet for a moment.
A sharp knock broke the silence and Kensi answered it curiously, finding Shay Mosley on the other side. She looked unusually small without her heels heels or perfectly tailored clothes. If she was surprised to see Kensi in Callen and Sam's room, she didn't say anything.
"EAD Mosley," Kensi greeted her, her tone just a touch too sharp to be considered entirely respectful.
"Kensi, it's good to see you. And it's just Shay now," she said, her eyes flicking beyond Kensi briefly. "Can I come in?"
Kensi glanced behind her, not sure if she should make a unilateral decision. She doubted anyone really wanted to see Mosley right now, but she supposed they each deserved the right to make that decision for themselves.
She opened the door a little wider and gestured for her to come in.
"Oh good, you're all here," Mosley said, sounding like she was holding a team meeting. Kensi went to stand by Deeks again. She noticed that he sat a little straighter even though it had to be killing his ribs.
"What are you doing here, Mosley?" Sam asked tiredly. "Shouldn't you be with Derrick right now? You know, the kid we all risked our lives to rescue."
"I'll be rejoining him later today. But first," she swallowed and for the first time actually looked nervous. "I owe you all an apology."
"That's unexpected," Callen commented. Mosley bit her lip, but soldiered on.
"In my efforts to bring Derrick home, I treated you all unfairly. I took advantage of you as a team and I took advantage of your loyalty and exploited it. And for that, I am truly sorry." She addressed this to the team as a whole, then turned to face Deeks directly.
"Detective, let me begin by saying how grateful I am that you assisted in rescuing my son. Especially after how I treated you, you had no reason to do it," she said, her gaze unflinching.
"I would never had held your actions against Derrick," he responded and Mosley smiled just the tiniest bit.
"I know that now. Perhaps you won't believe me, but I regret my actions from that night. I could have handled the situation much better. I should have treated you better, Deeks."
"Um, wow, that's…" Deeks trailed off, looking uncomfortable. Saving him from having to say anything, Mosley reached into her bag and pulled out a handful of sealed envelopes.
"These are for you," she explained, handing one to each of them. Sam turned his over with a quirked eyebrow. "These are copies of the letters I gave to SECNAV, detailing how I ordered and coerced you into helping me. And how each of you attempted to stop me. Detective, you shouldn't have any difficulty being reinstated as LAPD liaison."
"What about Nell and Eric?" Deeks asked and Mosley nodded.
"I've left their letters in Hetty's care and I'll be calling them when I finish here."
"You really think that these will be enough to clear our names?" Kensi said, tapping hers against her hand. "We broke a lot of laws in Mexico."
"Not to mention the laws we broke here," Callen muttered.
"Rest assured, when I say that it has been taken care of, I mean it," Mosley responded. She clasped her hands together and breathed deeply. "Well, that seems to be everything. I wish you all the best of luck." She turned abruptly and walked out, as in charge as ever.
"I guess we've been dismissed," Sam commented wryly.
"I hope she's happy," Kensi said quietly, thinking of everything Mosley had given up to achieve her end. Reaching out to hold her hand again, Deeks said,
"Me too."
A/N: Hi anon, hope this ok. I had a feeling that you wanted Mosley to receive a bit more condemnation than she did on the show, so everyone's a little more harsh than they are in canon. But maybe not as harsh as they could be.
