II - A New Life
After all of that shit that had happened in the States, me and Dom travelled all the way to Baja in Mexico. During our time down there, we met someone named Han Seoul-Oh (Quite the name) and we formed a friendship with him.
While we were down in Mexico, I had learned how to speak Spanish, which came in handy when I had to communicate with the locals. But I also learned how to properly fight because I had to be able to protect myself if I'm ever separated by Dom.
Eventually, we moved from Mexico to the Dominican Republic and I didn't have to learn a new language because the people there speak Spanish as well. When we got there, we ended up befriending some locals, in particular Tego Leo and Rico Santos. At some point Leo got arrested and as he was arrested, Han arrived just as we were about to bust Leo out and then meet up with a man named Elvis for a job to steal gas from a truck. After the meeting, we hanged out in the club and to our surprise, Letty found us and tracked us from Mexico. I greeted her happily, just so glad to see her again and Dom of course was just beyond happy.
The three of us went to a beach just so we can hang out and rekindle our family bond together. Then one thing happened that was just a ray of sunshine on our current lives right now. Dom and Letty eventually got married. I swear, I was thrilled for them that I was physically shaking in excitement.
The only downside to our lives is that me and Dom are wanted by the cops still because of what we did back in LA.
And that has been the last five years. Now let's catch up back to present times.
2009
Me and Dom assembled our crew together to pull the job off and so we gathered some vehicles and drove down barren roads to get to the fuel tanker we're stealing from.
We had managed to get to the fuel tanker and so our plan is about to begin.
"Alright, we're good to go." Dom told us all over the walkie talkies. Because I was behind Dom's car, I clearly saw Letty climbing up on the hood of the car.
"Everyone in position." Dom then instructed us.
"I thought we'd be robbing banks by now, not some gas truck in the middle of nowhere." Han whined. I don't know why he's complaining because we're getting paid either way.
"Down here, gas is gold, bubba." Letty said in a jovial way. I swear, ever since she and Dom got married, she's been full of joy.
"Yeah but banks don't move." Leo whined in Spanish. Naturally he would whine. He tends to anyway.
"Kill the chatter! Game time!" Dom barked, in response to Leo and Santos.
"Remember the instructions and this should be smooth." I calmed the others down. Even since leaving the States, I started to become more calculated and confident. Letty then managed to jump onto the tanker and so Dom and I drove ahead and got in front of the tanker.
"Okay, guys, we're gonna have to hit this hard and fast. We got four K left before the downgrade." Dom stated.
And then the process started where Han and then Leo and Santos would spin and drive in reverse so that they could hook onto the tankers and drive off with them. And part of the process will have Letty spray the hinges with liquid nitrogen and shatter them. The truck driver honked his horn at me and Dom, which I just found funny for some reason.
"We're clear." Han said, which meant we got some fuel finally.
"T, go ahead." I said through the walkie talkie.
"Let's see if you can get it under six tries this time, huh, T?" Han teased.
"What are you talking about? I'll do it in one try!" Leo said in Spanish.
"There's one K left. We're running out of road. Get in there, brother." Dom told Leo.
"I got it, I got it." Leo replied back.
Unfortunately, the truck gained speed and I noticed the driver's face. Shit! He's spotted Letty.
"Bollocks!" I cursed, having my British side come out. The truck rammed into me, which then caused me to ram into Dom.
"T, unhitch! Unhitch now!" I barked. Then I was rammed, but harder and that caused me to go out of control and then the truck driver tried to shoot me, though he missed. He tried it again with Dom, but failed again. Eventually, we got back in control and we saw Letty struggling to hang on.
"Lose your load, man!" I barked in Spanish to Leo.
"What do you think I'm trying to do?" He replied.
"Idiot, just release!" Dom told him in Spanish.
We then realised that we were about to go downhill so we both gained speed. Letty and Dom were discussing about the hitch but then the truck swerved and I narrowly missed getting hit by it. Then I saw Dom spin and hit the tanker which caused it to part. I slowed down so that I could help both Leo and Santos. I got on the end that isn't attached to their vehicle and I told them to hit the brakes as I did and so we did that and we stopped it from moving.
After we all catched up and gathered the fuel, we took it to Elvis and we managed to get the job done. And to bask at our success, we gathered up at a party by the beach.
I was wearing a long sleeve henley since this part of the world is perfect for this type of shirt.
I was chatting with Han and his girly friend when I saw Dom, Leo and Santos walking towards us.
"Hey, Dom." I greeted as I took a swig of beer.
Here is where we get our shares of the money. Dom handed Santos' and Leo's, he then handed mine which looked a bit bigger than theirs, I had to hide that of course and then Dom handed Han's.
"Go have fun." Dom told the duo in Spanish and they wandered off. Han's friend walked off as well, leaving me, Dom and Han.
"Cops just raided our garage in Baracoa. They were real interested in the both of you. Heat's on and we just sent up a flare that's gonna lead them right to us. I say we move out first thing in the morning." Han suggested. As much as I want that to happen, it just can't because we'll be putting Han, heck even Letty at risk. It's best if it's just me and Dom.
"Nah, it's me and David they want." Dom shot the idea down. "And if they catch us, they're throwing big numbers at anybody with us."
"At least we had a good run. It's time for you to do your own thing now." I told Han and we clinked our drinks together.
"Heard they're doing some crazy shit in Tokyo." Han brought up. He then snacked on some potato chips, which is his biggest trait I think because it just might show how he used to smoke.
"Have you seen Letty?" Dom asked both me and Han and we pointed to her as she's sitting by herself, looking out at the sea. He then walked to her. I know he's about to have that conversation about me and him being wanted and that they shouldn't be together anymore, even though they made their wedding vows include 'ride or die' meaning that they stick together. I felt so bad for them that I even shed a tear.
After the party, we went back to the house we were staying at and Dom sat in the bedroom he shared with Letty looking at her. I silently walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I feel bad we're doing this, even though it'll keep her safe as possible." I whispered and he nodded, understanding the weight of this choice. Dom made sure to leave her some money and even the cross necklace that had significance between them.
And so we left.
We made it to Panama and took up a job as mechanics for cars since that's in our blood right now. I was taking a break while Dom was working on a car when a kid ran up to us and said that there was a phone call for us.
We followed him to the phone and Dom answered it. He greeted whoever it was in Spanish, but whoever it was isn't from Panama or Wherever else that has Spanish as the native language.
"Mia, I told you not to call me or David here." Dom said. What?! Mia?! I haven't seen her since we left the States. And I remembered how I felt about her before we left and I forgave her for what she did.
But then Dom's face was stiff and holding back some emotions. I got worried because that means that something bad happened. He ended up hanging the phone and he looked at me with a tear coming down his face.
"What? What is it, Dom?" I begged him to tell me.
"Letty was murdered."
