Going Home
Lizzie
We sleep fitfully, poor Cleo, she is stuck to me. I pet her, "Cleo, I will be fine." She whines, not convinced. I am about to say something when we can see my father, fairly clear. I long to see him, to see my mother. And just like that, he is here.
"How is our baby? Liz'be, your new name is hard to say," my father chuckles. My brother Re' jl is also here, though they float above me, they look solid.
"Father, when can I come? I am married." I tell him.
My brother grins, "We know, now, you can come and heal our mother and J'ak. Our bride has waited for a while, although our time moves much slower here. A good thing, or our mother would be dead."
"Your bride, or J'ak's?" I am confused.
My father and brother laugh, "Both, we have the same one since we are twins. It happens often. I guess you must have forgotten a lot. You can come at any time, better as soon as you can. Let's talk to your husband, as well."
William, who seconds before held me against his body, now wears trousers and sits by me. After my father greets William, he tells him, "Look in the wall where your books are kept. Bring T'ik; and Cleo and her friends. We heard of the young Shadow Wanderer. He should also come. A warning, you must be watchful, Z' riel has set his eyes on you. Do bring a Hunter or two; many have never seen one." My father's voice is faltering.
William agrees, adding, "There are others; we met at least one of the Dragon people. They are real."
"Have you? Interestingly, both the Shadow Wanderers and the Dragon people were with Z'riel a long time ago, before the Exodus. "Liz'be, come as soon as you are able, your mother has worsened. Come." They are fading out.
"Who is Z' riel?" William asks.
Nobody answers; they are gone.
The clock near our room strikes 8:30. We could get ready. I want to go. "Let's get ready; I want to go right now."
William sighs, "How about if we lay a little longer." He looks hopeful. I know I want the same, but I want to see my mother more.
"I know dearest," I caress his face, "but I want to see my mother, to see them; my father said she is worse. I think her time is running out. I have a couple of questions, what did my brother mean by our bride?" I am curious.
William knows and smiles mischievously, "He meant his bride would marry both. I have seen it. Often brothers have the same bride because she is the one for both. It is complicated because our society doesn't approve of such arrangements, but it can be hidden from others. Come to think of it, well, let me think about it."
"You mean I could have two husbands? I find it, hmm, interesting," I look to see if William is jealous; it doesn't seem so. I see him trying not to laugh.
"You are not jealous?" I ask, somewhat surprised.
"No, I am not a twin. But if I were, there are benefits, I hear." William makes a funny face. He waits for a question. I won't ask; I am not so sure if I want to know. "Do you know who is Z'riel?"
"Not really, but perhaps the one who took you," William answers, holding me, he kisses me softly; but I move away quickly. My will to go will disappear otherwise.
A knock at the door interrupts us. It is Richard, "William, Aunt Catherine, was screaming, demanding to be let out. Then she was quiet as a mouse. When I went into the room with Fergus, we saw why the screaming stopped; she can only whisper. She is saying we did something to her. Our cousin is the same. You can barely hear either of them. Not only that, both are rather listless."
Why worry? It sounds good to me. I think William agrees with me.
William says, "Whatever happened, we should be grateful. I hope it lasts until we can take care of her."
"Yes, it is a good thing. Whoever did, deserves a reward." I snicker, and the dogs bark once. Cleo barely makes a sound; I hope her sadness doesn't last.
Darcy tells Richard about their plans. He asks Richard to get Reggie and Louisa, T'ik, and young Ian.
Darcy
As we get ready, I start understanding the past. I wish I had time to check a few facts. I think I never understood my father. Knowing Aunt Catherine and her influence on the council, I know what happened. Richard was right. Many truths and secrets are revealed since I became King. I need to write to my uncle before I go anywhere. I think I know what happened. It makes sense.
He was my father's younger brother, and they must have loved the same lady. But Catherine wanted her sister to be the queen. My poor mother wasn't free with her favors. I think she loved another not 'worthy' of her, Wickham Sr.. Many lives ruined by my aunt Catherine; I wish I could do something about it. I will do what I can.
"Darling, I need to write a couple of letters before I leave. They will be carried and delivered thru one of our passages. My aunt Catherine has done many people wrong. I realize a few things, and I want to correct past wrongs."
She wants to know, but I don't want to say anything until I know more. Another question crosses my mind, do we have others in the council who still support my Aunt Catherine. I don't doubt it. I need to find out who they are. I don't want any harm to come to my Lizzie. I worry about leaving while Aunt Catherine is here. Maybe, my uncle, Fitzwilliams, is right; she should be destroyed. That is her brother's recommendation. Maybe, he is right; wherever she is sent, powers or not, she will be dangerous.
"I hope you are allowed to come back, I cannot abandon my people, after my father was gone, there has been much upheaval. My aunt Catherine grew stronger, and it cannot happen again. I don't know how my life would be if you didn't come back with me." I don't want to say more.
Lizzie is quiet; she doesn't know what will happen when she sees her family, but, "You and my sisters are here. I am sure it will all work out."
She is just getting dressed. I am suddenly afraid this might be our last time together. I embrace her from behind, my hands cupping her tempting breasts. I can already see her lilac-colored nipples, beaded with arousal. She is quiet, not saying no, pressing over my hard cock. I lower my head to kiss her neck; when doing so, I open my mouth and scrape her shoulder, enough that a few drops of blood touch my tongue. Now there is no stopping me. She is all I see or feel.
"My love, let me; it will be fast." I raise her camisole, running my hands over her body, lowering them to the top of her tights. With a fast movement, I lower my trousers.
"Yes," she leans against me. I move towards the bed and bend her.
"What are you doing?" She asks, her body trembling.
"Let me, I think you will like it. I read about it." We both cry when I am inside her. Her channel quakes around me, "Yes, oh yes, "I say, not far behind.
"I love you, love you," I tell her, wanting to collapse on top of her, but I know we need to go. She turns around, with a half-grin.
"I liked it much." She says, and I chuckle. I hold her and kiss her, briefly, others are waiting.
Outside their window, the hidden King listened. He is baffled and dazed. For a few seconds, he felt Lizzie's body under his. He touched his lips, still feeling her kiss. But even stranger, the rich taste of her blood was still on his tongue. It didn't last, the sensation just went away, but the memory remained. He wasn't aware of anything like it, not for him or his people. It had to be related to the King of Shadows, or maybe to the proximity.
He shook his head, wondering if this could happen again. He felt the King's love for his wife, making him feel remorseful for wanting to take her from him. He was not aware, but this remorse chipped away some of the darkness clinging to him.
He was sure he could do something for the Shadows King. Maybe for the Lady as well, but he needed to find out more. He had to find out what else had Catherine done. Catherine's beautiful mother was not a very good person. He had chosen her because of her mixed blood, one she wasn't aware of; the same blood that was also shared by the Shadow King and his Fitzwilliams kin, unknown to them.
Unfortunately, the mix had produced Catherine, the worse of his children. Even the Darkling had grown afraid of her, with good reason. He would need to be watchful. The three from earlier had brought others with them. They were planning an attack to free Catherine. Her dreadful Lieutenant, the depraved Collins, must have warned them. He wouldn't allow harm to come to these people because he wanted to talk to the King.
The Crossing.
Darcy didn't know how long they would be gone. When Lizzie's family, Darcy, reminded Richard to be careful. "You are in charge while I am gone. Take care of Georgie for me." Darcy whispered a few things to Richard, and his eyes opened in wonder.
"Yes, I will look, we can talk later," Richard assured his cousin and King.
Von Stern asked, "May I bring Lady Toni, maybe your father and mine won't be so angry with me," he asked Lizzie.
"Yes, though I have a concern until Albert arrives, Tobias is the only Hunter left here. But it should be okay since many of my people are here." William answered.
They waited until they were all ready to go. Cleo wanted to be picked up by Lizzie. Cleo wasn't a fierce drag-dog this day, too afraid something could happen, so best to be stuck to Mommy. No amount of coaxing made Cleo change her mind.
Ian walked next to Darcy, "Sir, I need to tell you something important."
Darcy told him, "Son, we will talk later."
"But, sir, you want to hear this." Ian insisted, but they had arrived at the entrance to the cellar.
They all went into the heavily guarded entrance; then, they entered and marched quickly down to the underground rooms.
The library was inside the meeting room behind a heavy door.
Darcy
I hold Lizzie's hand; I am somewhat worried about meeting her family. I love her and hope they don't keep her there. I am glad I had her in my arms some minutes ago, maybe it was the last time.
Today, I am the King of Shadows, dressed like one. Louisa and Hurst are like children, same with Toni, all feeling like this is a dream. Ian smiles from ear to ear. He was wearing some of my clothes when I was his age. We are all ready.
I asked Von Stern, T'ik, "Who is Z' riel, have you heard about him?"
"Maybe, it could be the name of the one who took Lizzie; why?" He asks, but I don't answer.
I look around the room and see a large painting on the wall; it shimmers a little. I had never noticed it before, but I was not the King before. I point to the painting.
Von Stern nods, "You are right. Let me go in first, it looks safe, I can get it to open at Lizzie's parent's residence." He says, walking towards the portrait. "You only follow when I say it is okay."
Lizzie squeezes my hand. I cannot stop looking at her, she is beautiful either way, but she is breathtaking in her natural form. I wish we were back on our bed. Memories of our last encounter grasp me, but I dismiss them. This is not the time, nor the place,
Cleo jumps to the ground and goes after Von Stern, yapping and turning into a flying drag-dog. Lizzie giggles when flying beasts appear at the portal, yipping, and yapping and flying in circles. Not obeying, Lizzie flies to meet them.
"Let's go," I tell everyone; my boys already flying to join the crowd. It looks like madness, with my Lizzie in the center. I hear someone laughing, and Lizzie speaking an unknown language. I guess Lizzie is home, wherever that is. I am not so sure I want three more of them at home. They would destroy Pemberley and terrorize all the cats. I dread that Lizzie will soon have a menagerie if she is able, hopefully not of drag-dogs.
King of Shadows record...not in Pemberley anymore.
Fa/n Yup, Aunt Catherine should be killed; she is trouble, not salvageable.
